Health First and Honesty afterwards—Health is Everything

ergonomic-laptop-desk-by-Logitech

A laptop computer (typewriter) stands on my desk, in my book lined study. It is a tangible symbol of mental youthfulness that makes me willing to use any modern tool I have found to be efficient. I type all my own stuff straight on the machine. I do not find that my work is any better, or any different, if I draft it by hand. To those dedicated writers, who believe every word must be hand-written, with pen or pencil, if not to suffer some subtle loss of quality. The laptop is just common sense, it is easy to use, not easy to leave behind, and so expensive that it will not get misplaced. I do not despise new-fangled things merely because they are new technology. This does not mean that I am one of those people who endeavor to cling to youth long after youth has gone. I try to delude neither myself nor anyone else by pretending I am not a young man, and I write frankly of many concerns of youth. However, neither love nor crushed red velvet jacket, nor a juicy valor track suit withstand the test of time.

Suppose this year that the federal government passes legislation to control population growth by limiting the size of each family to three children. Supposed they mandate the sterilization of each father, after his third child is born, and that is he refuses, he will be sterilized with or without his consent. Such an invasion of privacy would never be tolerated in the United States of America. However, family size is also an issue in America, China, and Japan. Standard food production costs are increasing, hygiene is becoming a concern, and medical care is costing taxpayers a trillion dollars each year. Most Americans take the luxuries they have for granted, and the population is growing at alarming rates. The human population has undergone rapid exponential growth since the mid-eighteenth century. Nature has made the heart the magnetic point of mutual attraction in affairs of a first and mutual passion, and the head of the wisest individual is here out of its sphere.

Harris, California 127

We now turn to the existing spectrum of life. Today, humans have the population size, technology, and the cultural inclination to use energy and modify the environment at astonishing rates. To gain perspective on what is happening; at sometime between 6 million and 4 million years ago, the first humans emerged. The birth year of the World’s billionth human very likely took place in the year 1805. By the year 1927, there were 2 billion people on Earth. Fast-forward to 2014, there are now 7 billion people on Earth any by year 2025, there will be 8 billion people on Earth, and it already seems like we are overcrowded. You cannot drive or walk down the street without being hit by a car, cannot get into an elevator, without smelling someone’s foul odor, and cannot walk outside your front door without two or three of your neighbors either fishing for information, trying to subliminally insult you, or saying hello. Still, health is the normal condition.

Harris, California 110

The human body is continually under siege. It is the preferred home for a variety of pathogens—including viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and parasitic worms. Sickness palls every appetite and makes us hate what we loved. Pathogen means that these agents are capable of infection—of invading and then multiplying in the cells and tissues of a host organism. Disease may be the outcome of an infection. It results whenever the body cannot mobilize its defenses quickly enough to prevent the pathogen’s activities from interfering with normal body functions. Direct contact, as by touching open sores or other lesions on an infected person can be a mode for disease transmission as well as some other mediums. Infected people also can transfer pathogens from such lesions to their own hands or mouth and so contaminate someone else through a handshake or a kiss. Gonorrhea, syphilis, and other sexually transmitted diseases are spread through direct contact.

Harris, California 169

Indirect contact can also spread disease, as by touching doorknobs, food, diapers, pet waste (even if it is in a plastic bag), hypodermic needles ( as used by drug abusers), or other objects that were previously in contact with an infected individual. Food that is moist, not refrigerated, and not too acidic can be contaminated by an assortment of pathogens, including the ones responsible for amoebic dysentery, bacterial dysentery (Shigella), and typhoid fever. Inhaling pathogens that have been injected into the air, as by coughs and sneezes can also cause illness, makes you think twice about pot luck or your next buffet, I suppose? Also, encounters with biological vectors can lead to disease. These include mosquitoes, flies, fleas, ticks, and other arthropods that transport pathogens from infected people or contaminated material to new host. Some say it is okay to wear a pair of jeans more than once, but you may want to wash them after every use. Many pathogens only use vectors like public seats, taxis, digital phones, keyboards, and microphones to spread disease and virus.

Harris, California 191

Bacteria and most protistans are microorganisms, meaning they are is so small that they cannot be seen without a microscope. There is a new class of pathogens, smaller than bacteria, currently being studied. Other the other hand, many viruses also can have devastating effects on humans, animals, insects, plants, fungi and bacteria. A virus is a noncellullar infectious agent having two characteristics. Viruses are not alive, and consist of a nucleic acid core (its genetic material) within a protective protein coat. Next, a virus can be replicated only after its genetic material has entered a host cell and subverted the cell’s biosynthetic machinery. The immune system can be weakened by chronic fatigue or chronic stress. In some cases, they can be essentially shut down (as during AIDS). AIDS eventually kills its victims, and there is no cure. So no sex is better than risky sex.

BxfY-OJIcAAVBWE

On rare occasions, cell-mediated immunity is weakened and the body becomes highly vulnerable to infections that might not otherwise be life threatening. This is what happens in AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). That is why the Centers for Disease Control recommend that all men, who are practicing homosexual contact, even if they are negative and disease free and using protection to use antiretrovirals drugs like Truvada. Huge prevention and reductions have been seen, in rates of infection, death and suffering when use is made of a potent ARV regimen, particularly in early stages of the disease. Daily doses of Truvada cut the risk of infection, by 44 percent, when prescribed with condoms, counseling and other prevention services. Men, who took their pills most faithfully, had even more protection, up to 73 percent. AIDS is a set of chronic disorders that can follow infection by the human immunodeficiency virus. AIDS is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus or HIV. The virus cripples the immune system. AIDS is mainly a sexually transmitted disease, with most infection occurring through the transfer of bodily fluids during vaginal or anal intercourse. Such fluids include blood, semen, and urine, anal and vaginal secretions. The virus enters the body through cuts or abrasions on the penis, vagina, or rectum, or by contact with your skin or the inside of your body, through mucous membranes in the mouth. Once inside the body, the virus locks onto cells that are capable of sustaining its replication.

There are currently 33.4 million people in the World living with AIDS. At first AIDS shows not symptoms and there is currently no vaccine. There is a common misconception that skinny people, especially those who are gay have AIDS, simply because they are thin. That is a myth, there are many people, who are and have AIDS. And as unfathomable as it may sounds, with the economy being so bad, so people even lie about having the terminal illness to get special consideration for jobs, promotions and housing. Nonetheless, more than 1.1 million people, in the United States of America, are living with HIV infections; and 16 percent of the cases, people who are infected are unaware of their infection. In 2013, 12,400 White men were infected with HIV, 10,800 Black men, and 7,200 Latino men. 80 percent of the infected White men report they got HIV from homosexual or bisexual contact, in contrast, 44 percent of Black men report getting HIV from homosexual or bisexual contact. 25 percent of all new HIV infections are from people ages 13 to 24, and since 1981, 25 million people have died from AIDS.

Saturday 028_1

In 2008, 2 million people died due to HIV/AIDS, and another 2.7 million were newly infected. Almost all those living with HIV (97 percent) reside in low and middle income backgrounds or countries However, San Francisco, California is an exception, as it is a high rent district. The spread of HIV has led to massive public education programs, including the strongest possible advocacy for people to save their virginity, through celibacy, abstinence or by using latex condoms, together with a spermicide that contains nonoxynol-9, is assumed to be highly effective in stopping transmission—but there is still a small risk of irreversible infection. Openmouthed, intimate kissing, with a person who has AIDS or HIV should be avoided. Caressing carries no risk—if there are no lesions or cuts through which the virus can enter the body. Such lesions commonly accompany other sexually transmitted diseases, and they are apparently correlated with increased susceptibility to HIV infection.

Fevers are never at their height once, they must get there by degrees. Phillipe Padieu, age 53, from the state of Texas, had unprotected sex with six women, even after he learned he was HIV positive, in September 2005. In 2009, Phillipe Padieu was convicted on all six counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors called Phillipe Padieu a predato, ticking time bomb, and weapon. All things going well, HIV cuts your life expectancy by 10 years, as a result, Phillipe Padieu could serve up to 99 years in a Texas prison. There are some landmarks on the road to the tomb, which, but for the impiety of the aspiration, many wished they never had passed. The greatest object in the Universe is health. You may be struggling financially and with adversity, yet there is still a greater, which is the good that comes to relieve it. There are so many draw backs to regard and intimacy may be one of them at times. We cannot always be repaired is not to be forgotten.

how-do-you-get-herpes

Midtown Sacramento, California was once known as the herpes triangle. Faces and a few other nightclubs formed this triangle. Genital herpes is also another extremely contagious viral infection of the genitals. It is transmitted when any part of a person’s body comes into direct contact with active Herpes viruses or sores that contain them. Mucous membranes of the mouth or genital area are especially susceptible to invasions, as is broken or damages skin. Transmission seems to require direct contact; the virus does not survive for long outside the human body. There are an estimated 20 million people with genital herpes in the United States of America alone. From 1965 to 1979, the number of reported cases increased by 830 percent, which is interesting because that is known as generation X. Generation X, commonly abbreviated to Gen X, is the generation born after the Western Post–World War II baby boom. And 200,000 to 500,000 cases of genital warts are still being reported annually. When a person of robust and vigorous constitution has a fit of sickness, it produces a much more powerful effect than the same indisposition upon a delicate valetudinarian.

They Shall Not Pass Unseen—Climate Change, Arson, and Indoor Farming

Suffer any wrong that can be done to you, rather than come here! Oceans cover more than 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, so it is not difficult to understand why variations in ocean surface temperatures affect climate around the World. However, only within the past decade has numerical modeling begin to show how dramatic the effects maybe. In the winter 2013-2014, rainfall was below normal along the California Coast, and by Spring of 2014, strict water conservation and rationing programs were in the works. People were taking quick showers, instead of baths, cutting back on flushing the toilet, and running the dishwasher, and no longer deep-watering lawns and gardens because of the drought. However, drought is a relative term. This legality is not able to set thee free from thy burden. Health is everything. If you live in Tucson, Arizona, or another desert city like Los Angeles, California, drought is what you expect nearly year around. If you live along the Western Coast or the Mid-Western states of America and other interior continents, where semiarid conditions prevail, prolonged drought conditions can be disastrous.

As of 18 September 2014, the King fire in Placer and El Dorado, California has burned more than 77,000 acres, 3,000 people have been evacuated, 12,000 houses are being threaten, but no homes have been destroyed yet, as 4,000 fire fighters battle this blaze that is suspected to be a case of arson. Wayne Huntsman, age 37, has been arrested and charged with willfully and maliciously starting the King fire, in California. Wayne Huntsman, from Pollock Pines, has 4 prior felony convictions and a misdemeanor. The King fire is costing $5,000,000.00 a day to fight and is destroying beautiful land and wildlife, as a result, Wayne Huntsman has been book, in jail, in a $10,000,000.00 bond for arson and desertification. Desertification refers to the conversions of grasslands. Arson, at one time, used to be punishable by death, especially if human life was lost in the fire. Special agents trained to investigate violent crimes of arson. Arson is typically committed with a carefully calculated plan to minimize the chance of detection. Arson is the act of intentionally setting fire to a building or other property, land, nature, Earth or structure. Setting off an explosive that causes a fire also qualifies as arson. Originally, the person who started the fire had to mean to destroy the building completely. However, today, when states prosecute someone for arson, they no longer have to prove such intent. Partial damage, such as smoke damage or charring, is sufficient evidence that arson was intended.

Arson is a felony, punishable by imprisonment. The length of the sentence depends on the extent of the damage and is usually longer if the building is one in which people live. Therefore, because arson is a crime, and the season is abnormally dry; be sure not to start a fire. Abnormally dry seasons have been a part of a recurring feedback relationship between the Earth and humans, in California, for the past three years. Once people complained about the rain ruining their weekend plans, now they are begging for water to shower with. Rain-fed cropland, or irrigated cropland to a more desert like state, with a drop in agriculture productivity of 10 percent or more. Worldwide, about 9 million square kilometers have become desertified over the past fifty years. At least 200,000 square kilometers are still being affected each year. Prolonged drought may accelerate desertification, as it did in the American Great Plains and The Yellow River, in China, many decades ago. Desertification could also be a result of overgrazing and over farming. In Africa, for example, there are too many cattle in the wrong places, Cattle require more water than the wild herbivores that are native to the region. This means the cattle have to move back and forth between grazing areas and watering holes.

As they do, the animals trample grasses and compact the soil surface. In contrast, gazelles, elands, and other native herbivores obtain most (if not all) of the water they require fro, the plants they eat. They also are better at conserving water; little is lost in feces, compared to cattle. Research indicates, under federally regulated standards, ranches started and are composed of antelope, zebra, giraffe, ostrich, and other native herbivores, but cattle as a controlled group had some impressive results when it came to compared cost and yielding meat. Also, the range conditions were noted to have improved, not deteriorating. So far, results are exceeding expectations. Native herds are also increasingly and steadily and yielding meat, without harming the environment. There are still some vexing problems to overcome. African tribes have their own idea of what constitutes good meat, and some tribes view cattle as the symbols of wealth in their society. Most of the World’s prime agricultural land has long been exploited for crop or livestock production. Almost 21 percent of the Earth’s land is being used for agriculture, and another 28 percent is reported to be potentially suitable for cropland or grazing land. However, its potential productivity is so low the conservation may not be worth the cost. By the year 2050, nearly 80 percent of the Earth’s citizens will live in urban settings, and the human population is expected to increase by about 3 billion people. America will need about 25 percent more lands to grow enough food on to feed the citizens. However, if traditional farming practices continue as they are practiced today, most of our food will have to be imported from other countries.

At present, throughout the United States or America, over 80 percent of the land that is suitable for raising crops. Historically, some 15 percent of that land has been laid waste by poor management practices, drought related conditions on land, and drought-sustaining atmospheric circulation patterns. However, many innovators are now using warehouses, abandon buildings and high-rises structures as a place to get beyond the obstacles of climate change. These projects are called Vertical farms. Vertical farms are here to solve inherent issues of growing food crops in unpredictable climates, in drought and disease prone fields, and reduce pesticide usage and death from farm workers getting heat stroke. Food can be grown year-round, in high-rise urban buildings, reducing the need for the carbon emitting transport of fruit and vegetables. The planting racks, represent crops, in a vertical farm and can be fed nutrients, by water conserving, soil, which is free hydroponic systems, and lit by LEDs that mimic sunlight, and will dramatically reduce evaporation of the water, from the soil. These vertical farms are easy to control by drones or other management software, to ensure choreograph rotating racks of plants, so each member gets the same amount of light, and direct water pumps, to ensure moister and nutrients are evenly distributed. It could make food supplies more secure because production can continue even when extreme weather strikes, which will prevent price shock and supply shock.

And as long as farmers are careful to protect their indoor farms from pests, vertical farming needs no herbicides or insecticides. They also conserve water far better than earthbound farming. Meanwhile, until American learns to use technology to control their problems, instead of letting problems control them, Mother Nature might look out for them. This winter rainy season , of 2014-2015, is expected to bring California some much needed rain, as we will experience Southern Oscillation. Southern Oscillation is basically a fluctuation in atmospheric pressure, at the Earth’s surface—specially, at Indonesia, Northern Australia, and the Southern Pacific. This area of the Southern Hemisphere is the World’s largest reservoir of warm water, and warmer, moisture-laden air raises here than anywhere else. Rainfall is also heavy here, and it releases much of the heat energy that drives the World’s air circulation system. Periodically, warm surface waters, of the western equatorial Pacific move eastward. The massive displacement of the warm water affects the prevailing winds, which accelerate the eastward movement. The movement is enough to displace the cooler waters of the Humboldt Current and prevent upwelling, causing a supply shock to the fishing industry because, and has catastrophic effects on anchoveta-eating birds as well as on the anchoveta industry.

The interactions among the atmosphere, oceans, and land profoundly influence the World of life. There is an interrelatedness of ocean surface temperatures the atmosphere, and the land is especially clear through studies of the El Nino Southern Oscillation. This recurring phenomenon is accompanied by abnormal drought conditions, in many parts of the World. Every two to seven year, the warm reservoir of water located in the Southern Hemisphere, which is the World’s largest supply, and the associated heavy rainfall move eastward. This causes the prevailing surface winds, in the western equatorial Pacific, to increase speed. The stronger wins have a more pronounced effect on dragging the ocean surface waters eastward. Upper ocean currents are affected to the extent that the westward transport of water slows down and the eastward transport increases. More warm water, in the vast reservoir moves east—and so on in a feedback loop between the ocean and the atmosphere. The rainfall pattern in the Pacific Ocean and Indian Oceans are massively dislocated when El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) warm episodes occur. The first two months of 1998 were the warmest and wettest, at the time, in the 104-year record of temperatures and precipitation measurements for the contiguous 48 states. In the rainy season of 1997-1998, for the three-month period (December – February), the normal precipitation value for the city of Sacramento, California is 6.35 inches. California experienced vital monsoon rains.

Month after month (December, January and February), record rainfall drenched the arid and semiarid coast and valleys of California in the winter of 1997-1998. This winter’s figure was 7.96 inches, compared with the record 8.5 inches in 1932-1933. To continue show the power of Southern Oscillation–California and North Dakota had their wettest February on record for the winter of 1997-1998. Florida, Maryland, Nevada, Rhode Island, and Virginia had their second wettest February, since records began in 1895. And the warmest February, on record, too place in much of the upper Midwest and parts of the East, for this time period, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Due to the temperature increase, during historically cool months, there was a Nationwide energy savings were estimated at 10 percent (i.e., 10 percent lower heating costs as compared to normal winter). These are the patterns one would typically expect the strong El Nino on top of the continuing gradual increase of temperature and precipitation set the stage for many all-time state records. Numerical models are now being used to study these and other episodes of climate change a few seasons in advance. More reliable forecasting should follow when more and better observations are made of the interrelated systems of the ocean, land, and atmosphere.

Forecasters are still calling for a 65 percent chance of El Nino conditions being met, in the next few months of 2014, by the Northern Hemisphere this winter–with a 55 percent chance El Nino Southern Oscillation will start during September, October, or November. El Niño might increase rainfall, in California, and bring relief to the severe drought there. In the western United States, drought often brings a double punch: water shortfall plus wildfires. The West of America, as a whole has experienced a relatively quiet fire season thus far, with fewer than 3 million acres burned between January 2014 and September 2014, compared to the 10-year average of 5.4 million acres typically consumed by fire. However, California is well ahead of its five-year average fire patterns. A substantial increase in fire size and area burned in the Southwest over the past 30 years; these trends are projected to continue increasing in the future. The reason is intuitive: warmer temperatures, earlier springs, and faster snowmelt are driving the increases, and these trends are expected to continue along with increasing greenhouse gas concentrations. One day, humans are going to have to grow up and learn to manage themselves and the planet. Law and all forms of law are only deductions made by the intelligence from the right instincts of the people’s heart.

Deforestation—Flora, Fauna, Fury and Fire

The ceaseless conflict among interpreters, whatever master truth may be thought to lie just ahead of their farthest energetic probing, simply renders cloudy the supposition that sense of truth is the central experience of those who join the assemblage with special expectations and are in some ways satisfied. With the King fire burning more than 72,000 acres and all the other fires burning in the United States of America, deforestation is a major concern, but not only because of fires, but also because of logging as well. The World’s great forests play major roles in the biosphere. Forest watersheds are like giant sponges that absorb, hold, and release water gradually. By influence the downstream of water flow, forests help control soil erosion, flooding, and sediment buildup in rivers, lakes and reservoirs and also keeps moisture in the soil. Deforestation, the removal of trees from large tracts of land, leads to loss of fragile surface layers of soil and disrupts watersheds. The disruption is especially pronounced in watersheds with steep slopes. In tropical regions, soil loss mean long-term fertility loss as nutrients are quickly washed out of the system, leaving nutrients missing from the soil, and the ground deficient of the food it needed to be of use for planting and feed vegetation. The tropical rainforest is one of the most beautiful wonders in the world. They cover billions of acres of land, mountain sides and waterways.

A rainforest is a collection of very tall and exotic trees, and some of the World’s most hungry and some of the largest insects, animals, tress and birds ever seen. The trees in a rainforest can grow as tall as 150 feet. These trees are generally found in regions that are warm year-round and also receive a lot of rain. Tropical rainforests may cover less than 6 percent of the Earth’s surface and produce 40 percent of the Earth’s oxygen. Typically, a rainforest receives 4 feet to 21 feet of rain each year. Since these naturally beautiful forests thrive in warm conditions, tropical rainforest are usually located around the equator. However, Berkeley, California and much of New York, New York used to also be a rainforest. Nonetheless, some of the largest rainforests are currently located in South America, Africa, Indonesia, Asia, Hawaii, and the Caribbean Islands. In fact, one of the largest rainforest in the world is located in South America and would cover two thirds of the Continental United States of America. They are home to the greatest variety of spectacularly plumages birds and to the plants with the largest flowers. Trees in the rainforest must grow tall and fast to reach the peak of the canopy, where the sun is. Since these some of the fast growing trees are not very wide, they produce prop roots, which drop down to the ground and dig into the earth to support the tree. Also, the tree may not have branches for the first 50 feet.

Picture 049

Large animals are not as profuse as they are in other parts of the World, but they are splendidly represented, in a variety of species. The large animals in the rain forest are usually tapirs, monkeys, and jaguars of South America to the apes, okapi, and leopards, and tigers of Africa. African cats are in danger, as sample to highlight the issue of deforestation and hunting, we have selected the tiger population. Give us minds possessing foresight; give us minds obeying what foresight tells. Tigers are beautiful, majestic and mysterious creature, which are in great danger of becoming extinct. In the 1900s, there were over 100,000 tigers in the wild. However, over the last 100 years, the World has lost more than 97 percent of the tiger population; there are less than 3,200 left in the wild. Tigers are some of the largest cats in the World, they are about three and a half feet tall, and are anywhere from five feet long to nine feet in length, and they weight about four hundred to seven-hundred pounds. The tail of a tiger is about three feet in length. At least four species of tigers are extent, including: Bali tiger, Javan tiger, Caspian tiger, and there are only a few South Chinese tiger left, but they are all in captivity.

Picture 043

The World still have nearly seven-hundred Malayan tigers, four hundred and fifty Sumatran tigers, four hundred Siberian tigers, about one thousand Indochinese tigers, and eighteen hundred Bengal tigers. Tigers eat about 88 pounds of meat, at one time. Tigers like to feed on antelope, baby elephants, berries, buffalo, carbs, deer, fish, frogs, lizards, snakes, and wild boar (pigs). Be careful around tigers, they like meat and will devour you. Tigers like to kill by sinking their teeth into the neck of their prey (food). Tigers mainly live in Africa, Asia, and they used to even live in Russia. Tigers are sensitive to heat and like to swim a lot. Tigers, in the wild, live about ten to fifteen years, but in captivity, they can live as long as twenty to twenty-six years. Tigers like to live in the tropical forest, mountains, swamps, and they usually keep to themselves, until mating season. Tigers will usually mate from November to April. Their gestation (pregnancy) period is about one hundred and three days, and they will usually give birth to 3 or 4 baby tigers, also known as cubs. When the tiger is about three years old, they leave their mothers and start their own lives, in the wild. Tigers are in danger because they are hunted for their meat, deforestation, and logging of trees. It is illegal to eat tiger meat, but many people like to consumer it like it is a steak and even make tacos out of tiger meat. There is a restaurant, in Florida, called “Taco Fusion,” which serves tiger meat tacos, and they are about thirty-five dollars each. Tigers also hunted for their beautiful orange and black stripped coats; sometimes they are white and black strips, and their eyes, teeth and paws. Orange and black tigers usually have yellow eyes, and white and black tigers have blue eye. Unlike other cats, tigers have pupils. There are also hybrid tigers called ligers, which occur when male lions mate with female tigers.

Picture 047

Ligers usually have the main of a lion, but strips like a tiger, but there are some variations. The first liger was produces in the year 1798, in the country India, by scientist Étienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire. Ligers are about ten feet long, about five feet tall, and seven-hundred pounds. So please do not hunt or harass tigers, there are not many of them left, and we want to preserve them for future generations. It is very hard for a fool not to be a fool. Fools must live in the World, but you do not have to become like them. I have seen wicked men and fools, a great many of both; and I believe they both get paid in the end; but the fools first. Forgiveness is never denied to sincere repentance. Meanwhile in the rain forest, specimens of trees from the rain forest may have made their way into your home or your dentist’s waiting room in the form of girl scout cookie boxes, furniture, or ficus benjamina, rubber plants, and tree ferns, to name a few. Also, it is important to keep in mind that the Girl Scouts and Barbie use materials from the Rain Forest for packaging and labeling, which is sad because rare trees and animals are being destroyed. Too bad they cannot just use recycle Christmas trees. In the forest themselves, vines twist around tree trunks and grow up toward the sunlight. Below the tall canopy trees, in the rainforest, there are also smaller trees, and shrubs. The foliage below the canopy usually does not grow very tall because they are not exposed to as much sun. The rapid growth in the rainforest can be attributed to all the fallen leaves, which quickly decompose, releasing important nutrients for plants to grow.

The rainforests have more types of trees than any other area in the world. There are between 100 to 300 different species of trees located in the rainforest, and 70 percent of the rainforest is composed of trees. The rainforest usually gets up to 93° Fahrenheit and usually do not drop below 68° Fahrenheit. The rainforest is very important because it produces oxygen, regulates the temperature and is a home for many rare animals and insects. The rainforest also produces medicine that helps to treat cancer, muscle pains and other ailments. Furthermore, the U.S. Cancer Institute has identified 3,000 plants that are active against fighting cancer cells and 70 percent of these plants are found in the rainforest, and 25 percent of pharmaceutical medications come from trees and plants in the rainforest, and this is amazing considering only 1 percent of the organisms in the rainforest have been tested to see how they can benefit human recovery. Orchids, mosses, lichens, and other planets and flowers grow on tree branches, absorbing minerals brought to them in rain water. Entire communities of inspects, spiders, and amphibians live breed, and die in small pools of water that collect in the leaves of aerial plants. Developing countries, in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia have been clearing their tropical rain forests on massive scale. Those countries have great and growing numbers of people and not enough food, fuel, or lumber. If people not allowed to cut trees down, in the forest, for lumber, often times, as retribution, these individuals would start forest fires. (One of every four human lives in those countries, in 1990, were responsible for about 33 percent of the World’s human population growth.)

At present rates of clearing, most tropical forest will disappear by 2050. Nevertheless, many people only value the rain forest for lumber and are cutting down the trees to build homes, offices, ships and furniture. It is estimated that in 40 years, there will be no more rainforests left in the world, and this is alarming because of the health benefits that come from the rainforest and also because they produce more than 40 percent of the oxygen in the world. Without rainforest, we would lose a lot of medication that helps to save lives, we could experience more drought, warmer weather, and more floods. Also, there are more than 3,000 fruits found in the rainforest, many of which most people have never tasted. Experts say, if left intact, that the rainforest is by far more valuable because they harvest of the fruits, nuts and oil producing plants are very valuable. Anthropologists also say that Berkeley, California, USA used to be a rainforest, now it is home to housing projects, colleges, and other businesses. Similarly, Manhattan, New York was once filled with forest, swamps and hills. As the population was increasing, the Commissioners’ Plan of 1811 divided New York, all most all of the trees were removed, and officials filled in the swaps to make room for homes and office buildings. Lower Manhattan was created by dumping trash into the river and cementing it so they could expand the land mass. As a result, the river in Manhattan became narrower, and today it is eroding the land. In the near future, the tunnels in Manhattan will flood due to the way it was constructed. So please preserve our rainforest, it may save the world and the people in it.

For purely ethical reasons, many condemn the total destruction of a major chunk of the biosphere. For practical reasons, consider how the destruction might affect your own life. The World’s food supply depends on a very small number of crop and livestock species. That base of food production can be broadened and made less vulnerable if we can develop new or hybrid crop plants. By using genetic engineering and tissue culturing methods, we can tap the diverse organisms of tropical rain forests as genetic resources. They also can be tapped for developing new antibiotics and vaccines. Many tropical planets already give us the alkaloids for drug treatments of cardiovascular disorders, cancer, and other illnesses. Aspirin, the most widely used drug in the World, was formulated by using a chemical blueprint of a compound extracted from the leaves of the tropical willow trees. Coffee, bananas, cocoa, cinnamon, and other spices, sweeteners, Brazil nuts, and many others foods we love originated in the tropical rainforest. Massive destruction of tropical rain forests is changing the mixture of gasses in the atmosphere. Among other things, the burning releases carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen dioxide, and nitric oxide—and atmospheric concentrations of these gases are increasing contribution to acid rain, smog, and dissipation of the ozone layer, and probably increases the World temperatures. If the World is to face another ice age, global warming may counter act that, allowing for climate change and not permafrost.

As an individual, you might choose to cherish, brood about, or ignore any aspect of the World of life. However, I want you to keep this in mind, whatever choice you make, the fact of the matter is that you and all other organisms, on Earth, are in the together. Your lives interconnect, to degrees that many are only now starting to comprehend. Some suspect that the internet is allowing ghost to take human form and that time travel is subtle taking place, and that astral planes are intercepting your timeline and distorting reality. There are all kinds of concepts going around, some even think the United States has an iron dome protecting us around the clock. Whatever the truth maybe, human population has undergone rapid and exponential growth since the mid-eighteenth century. Today, there are 7 billion people on Earth, we have the technology, and the cultural inclination to use energy and modify the environment at astonishing rates. The World of life ultimately depends on energy from the Sun, Moon, Ground, Air and Water, which drives complex reactions between the atmosphere, oceans, and land. The accumulation of human-generated pollutants in the atmosphere especially is disrupting those interactions. Those disruptions may have alarming consequences in the near future. Humans, as a species must come to terms with the principles of energy flow and resources utilization that govern all systems of life on Earth. I am not pushing an agenda; I am just giving you the facts. More than this, deforestation also can change regional patterns of rainfall as a result of altered rates of evaporation, transportation, and runoff.

Between 50 and 80 percent of the water vapor above tropical forest alone is released from the trees themselves. Without trees, annual precipitation declines, and the region gets hotter and drier. Rain that does fall rapidly runs off the bare soil. This has been a major concern after the rim fire– the Rim Fire was a wildfire, in the central Sierra Nevada region, and in Tuolumne and Mariposa counties, of California, in the United States of America. The Godzilla of a fire started on 17 August 2013, during the 2013 California wildfire season, and a major drought. Keith Matthew Emerald, accused of starting the massive Rim Fire, last year, in Stanislaus National Forest and Yosemite National Park, pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court in Fresno. He is facing sentence of 11 years in prison and more than $500,000 in fines. The Rim Fire engulfed 257,000 acres, causing more than $130 Million in damages, and was the third largest wildfire in California history. Also, as the local climate gets hotter and drier, soil fertility and moister levels decline even more. Eventually, sparse grassland or even desert like conditions might prevail, where we once had rich tropical forest. The 2013, Black Forest Fire in Colorado cost $85 Million in damages, killed two people, destroyed over 430 houses, and burned more than 14,223 acres of land. Clearing large tracts of tropical forest also may have global repercussions. These forests absorb so much of the solar radiation reaching the equatorial regions of the Earth’s surface, when the forests are burned, logged, or otherwise cleared, the land becomes shinier, so to speak, and reflects more incoming energy back to space, which heats up the planet.

The trees of these vast forested regions help maintain the global cycling of carbon and oxygen through their photosynthetic activities. When they are harvested or burned, the carbon stored in their biomass is released to the atmosphere, in the form of carbon dioxide—and this may play a role in the amplified greenhouse effect. Almost half of the World’s expanses of tropical forests have already been cleared for cropland, grazing land, timber, housing, parking, landfills, and fuelwood. Deforestation is greatest in Brazil, Indonesia, America, Colombia, and Mexico. Another problem with ripping up forests is we are disturbing some dinosaurs like giant alligators, who have been alive since other dinosaurs walked the Earth. Alligators are as old as the dinosaurs, and now they are also on the verge of extinction. The alligator species is over 150 million years old, and they managed to outlive the dinosaurs, which died out 65 million years ago. Alligators live in fresh water like rivers, lakes, and swamps; they mostly live in the Southern United States, places like Louisiana and Florida. Sometimes alligators will sneak into swimming pools. In general, alligators live to be 35-50 years old and can grow as large as 20 feet and 1,000 pounds. On average, alligators are anywhere from 10-13 feet. Alligator babies’ hatch from eggs, they only take 40 days to be born; alligator babies are about 6-8inches long when they are born. The diet of the alligator is composed of fish, turtles, snakes, other small animals and sometimes pets or humans.

At one time, alligators were the most dominant animal on Earth, but now they are on the verge of extinction, as only 12 species of alligators remain. Alligators are killed and their skin is used to make shoes, purses, wallets, briefcases, and other leather items. Alligators are also hunted for their meat, and some are caught and sent to other countries. Alligator meat is actually very healthy, low in fat and very expensive, a pound of alligator meat cost about $7, and alligator skins can fetch $25 per foot. Because alligators are endangered, farmers have opened over 30 alligator farms, which are very successful. They produce about 300,000 pounds of meat and 15,000 skins a year. That is about 2.5 million a year in revenue for farmers. Please be kind and save our animals. Once they are gone, we cannot replace them. We have to live with Mother Nature. Only when the last tree is cut down, the last fish has been caught and the last stream has been poisoned will we realize you can’t eat money. At present rates of clearing and degradation, only Brazil and Zaire will have large tracts of tropical forests in the year 2016. By 2035, most of those forests also will be gone, leading to desertification. Yet, whatever come through has a validity that one would never deny. Even when a defenseless town is given up being sacked and pillaged, military officers do not put helpless men, women, children or animals to the sword with that just proportion of coolness with which a hangman ties the fatal noose, or a lawyer draws up a brief by which he beggars the wretched family he is employed against.

Throw Away Mentality—Solid Waste

Picture 180

The crime of having been maligned unjustly–resources are scares, in the all countries, and very few materials are discarded, expect for in America. Affluent counties, like the United States of America, especially, has a throwaway mentality, which prevails. Human capital uses something once, discards it, and then buys another one. Also, instead of repairing cars, many consumers drive them until they fall apart and buy a new one. In some countries, a person is lucky just to have one car, and in China, the license plate alone cost $5000.00 and many cars cost more than some homes. Only the wealthy people in China have nice cars.

Picture 089

As a result of consumer mentality– I have to have the best and newest product, billions of metric tons of solid wastes are dumped, burned, and buried annually, in the United States alone. In 2013, Americans generated about 255 million tons of trash. All of this trash is then taken to a landfill, where it is stored, until it decomposes. However, the problem is that much of the trash is toxic and is polluting the land and the water and making animals sick, who are feeding off of the waste. In addition, it is estimated that 60 billion beverage containers are part of the 255 million tons of trash, and one half of solid waste are paper (so much for the politically motivated plastic bag ban).

Picture 042

Many people believe that paper bags are an alternative to plastic, but half of the waste in landfills is paper. Furthermore, it takes more than 500,000 trees, which produce oxygen that cleans the air, just to supply the Sunday newspaper. Every week, if everyone in the United States of America recycled even one out of ten newspapers, we could save 25 million trees a year. Besides this, using recycled paper reduces air pollution that results from paper manufacture by 95 percent. And recycling paper takes 30 to 50 percent less energy than making new paper.

Picture 206

Associated with the throwaway mentality is a serious issue that is unique in the World of life what to do with solid wastes. I thought it will be a good idea to haul solid waste into space, and drop it back down to Earth, so it could disintegrate when it hits the atmosphere, but I am not sure if NASA or American Airlines likes this plan, as it could have some unintended consequences. Instead of recycling materials, as is done in natural ecosystems, we bury them in landfills or burn them in incinerators. Incinerators add some toxic pollutants to the air and leave a highly toxic ash that must be disposed of safely. In any event, land available and acceptable for landfills is scares because landfills eventually leak, and pose a threat to groundwater.

Picture 051

A transition from a throw away mentality to one based on recycling and reuse is feasible. Find ways to repurpose items before you end their lifecycle. It is affordable, and we have the technology to do it. Citizens can influence manufactures by refusing to buy good that are lavishly wrapped and boxed, packaged in indestructible containers, and designed for a one-time use. Remember McDonalds burgers used to come in those cute boxes? Well, now they are simply wrapped in wax paper. Individuals can ask the local post office to turn off their daily flow of junk mail (if we really want to save the environment, it goes beyond banning plastic bags).

Harris, California 001 Harris, California 115

Unsolicited mail wastes an astounding amount of paper, time, and energy—and it means higher postage rates and gasoline prices for everyone, also adds more pollution to the air and landfills. Finally, individuals can urge local governments to develop well-designed, large-scale resources recovery centers. Such a plant has been operating in Saugus, Massachusetts. With such systems, existing dumps and landfills would be urban mines, from which usable materials can be stored. After all, the will of sovereigns is generally admitted as a law.

Changes in the Hydrosphere

Harris, California 021

We cannot be repaired is not to be regretted. Around 6 million to 4 million years ago, the first humans emerged. Like us, they breathed in oxygen, from an atmosphere, of ancient origins. These ancient humans also were protected from harmful ultraviolet radiation by an ozone shield, in the stratosphere. There populations were not significant, and their impact on the biosphere was not significant. However, about 10,000 years ago, agriculture began in earnest, and laid the foundation for rapid population growth. With agriculture, and the medical and industrial revolutions that followed, human population growth became exponential in a mere blip of evolutionary time—some would go as far to say the World is overpopulated and that is what is leading to all the conflict, wars, disease, and scarcity.

Harris, California 133

With that being said, if possible, it is best to reduce consumption of everything. If you can walk, then walk, instead of driving. When leaving a room, turn off the lights, use climate control as little as possible (maybe drink water to cool down and hot tea or coffee and a sweater to warm up), do not waste food or water. If you are not sure if you will like your cuisine or not, then buy something that you know you will enjoy. And if you can, save as much money as possible, for as long as you can; be sure to check out the sales racks and clearance racks, at the end of each season, to find stylish clothes you can wear next year. Simple things can make a huge difference. Also, do you really need cable? Over five years, consumers are spending an average of $8,400.00 on cable. That is crazy, would nice down payment on a car, or the start of that 20 percent down payment you will need when you buy a house.

Harris, California 017

Meanwhile, there is a tremendous amount of water in the World, yet three of every four humans do not have enough water or, if they do, it is contaminated. Most water is too salty for human consumptions or agriculture. So that rain that falls out of the sky is really a blessing. For every million liters of water, only about 6 liters are in a readily useable form. However, there have been consequences of large scale irrigation. 21 percent of the Earth’s land is now being used for agriculture. Expansion of agricultural production is coupled with the exponential growth of the human population—and about one-third of the food being produced today grows on irrigated land.

Harris, California 064

Water is piped in into agricultural fields from groundwater or from lakes, reservoirs, and other sources of surface water. Irrigation can change the productivity of the land. Water available for irrigation often is loaded with mineral salts. In regions where the soil does not drain well, evaporation may cause salination (salt accumulation) in the soil. Salination can stunt growth, decrease yields, and eventually kill crop plants. Also, improperly drained irrigated lands can become waterlogged. Water accumulating underground can gradually rise the water table (the upper limit of group that is fully saturated with water). When the water table is close to the surface, the soil around the plant roots becomes saturated with toxic saline water. Salinity and waterlogging can be corrected with proper management of the water-soil system. However, the economic cost can be high.

Harris, California 187

We use ground water for many purposes, but irrigation is often paramount. Nonetheless, major underground aquifers contain 95 percent of all fresh water. These aquifers are being depleted in many areas and contaminated elsewhere through pollution and saltwater intrusion. Consider what is happening to the Ogallala Aquifer in the United States of America. The Ogallala Aquifer occupies the High Plains of the United States, extending northward from western Texas to South Dakota. The Ogallala is the leading geologic formation, in what is known as, the High Plains Aquifer System. The entire system underlies 174,000 square miles of eight states, in America.

Picture 181

The Ogallala Aquifer is about 10 million years old, making in older than human life, on Earth. And sadly, The Ogallala Aquifer is being both depleted and polluted, at an alarming rate. Farmers withdraw so much water, from the aquifer that the annual overdraft (the amount of water not replenished) is nearly equal to the annual flow of the Colorado River (22.2 million acre feet). As a result, the already low water tables, in much of the United States of America, are dropping rapidly, and stream and underground spring flows are dwindling. However, since 1976, the Water Factory 21 Direct Injection Project, located in Orange County, California, has been injecting highly treated recycled water into the aquifer to prevent salt water intrusion, while augmenting the potable ground water supply. Still, this leaves many asking, where will the water come from when we deleted the aquifers?

Picture 012

Clean fresh water is arguably one of the World’s most valuable assets, but often times it is taken for granted. People look around and see all the water in the oceans and think we have an unlimited supply of water. However, that is not the case, 75 percent of the world is made up of water, but only 0.3 percent of that water is drinkable. We typically cannot drink seawater. The fresh water we drink comes from rivers and streams. The reason we cannot drink seawater is because it has a high salt content, and that would dehydrate one’s body, and it is might also cause high blood pressure.

Picture 073
As populations continue to grow, they demand for water is increasing greatly. The World’s water consumption is doubling every 20 years, and by 2025, the demand for water will exceed the supply of water by 56 percent. Water is very important, as we need it to wash clothes, shower, do dishes, feed livestock, and water crops. The United States uses about 346,000 million gallons of fresh water per day, and 80 percent of that is used for irrigation and the average person uses about 100 gallons of water per day. That is an incredible amount of water being used.

Picture 033

Without clean drinkable water, people will get sick and germs will spread because they cannot be washed away, so it is important that we do not waste water. Currently 1.1 Billion people lack access to clean drinking water. Some are speculating that not having enough water in the near future could lead to wars over water because water ways are shared by more than one authority and controlled by different counties. So scientists are looking for ways to combat these issues and ensure that we have enough water for everyone.

Picture 029

As you know, water is needed to build homes, create new businesses, raise livestock and it really improves our quality of life. It is a luxury to take a bath every day, wash your hair and prepare meals with fresh water. Most people typically feel better about themselves when they are clean. China is working to eliminate water waste, by allowing farmers to control their sprinklers, by mobile phone. The farmers are now able to insure the farms are being water adequately, without ever leaving the comfort of their home.

Picture 111

Since there is so much seawater, many people wonder why we do not filter the water in the ocean so that one will be able to drink it. The process of filtering seawater and making it drinkable is called Desalination. Desalination is not a new technology, but it is expensive. 97 percent of the water in the world is in the ocean. Since that is the case, we should be able to use that water to meet our needs. Many companies like general electric are investing in the future by creating machines that can desalinate water, at an affordable cost. There are about 12,500 desalination plants around the world, they produce about 14 million cubic meters of fresh water each day, but that is less than 1% of total consumption.

Picture 138

Coastal states like California and Florida have been producing desalinated water for years, but it is so expensive that it has not caught on. Nonetheless, with the demand of water increasing, investors are interested in preventing disasters, and looking to make a profit, while making water affordable. Some private investors have come up with ways to produce Desalinated seawater for $2 dollars per thousand gallons, but environmentalist are opposing the idea saying pumping high salinity waste water back into the ocean.

Picture 119

At some point, we have to learn to work together, and solve problems before they turn into major issues and people die. If we do not have clean water to drink, it will devastate our economy and greatly reduce the quality of life. It is important to honor the environment, but if we do not learn to properly work with the environment, this world will become a disaster. So instead of opposing ideas that will save us, like desalination of seawater, people need to come up with solutions.

Picture 006

Saudi Arabia and some other Persian Gulf countries desalinate seawater for their urban populations. However, those countries are among the very few with huge energy reserves and cash to spare. Yet, that is no excuse, as American is supposed to lead in innovation and finances. After suffering through prolonged droughts, cities along California coast are now willing to consider desalination, as well as reclamation of wastewater to irrigate landscaping. Conversely, such efforts cannot solve the core issue. Not having enough water is a serious issue. And unfortunately, the problem is being compounded by pollution of the water that is available. Water becomes unfit to drink, even swim in, once it contains human sewage, animal waste, dead flies, and various toxic chemicals. Those pollutants can encourage contamination, by pathogenic microbes. Agricultural runoff pollutes water with sediments, pesticides, and plant nutrients. Power plants and factories pollute water with chemicals, radioactive materials, and excess heat (thermal pollution).

Picture 041

Pollutants accumulate in lakes, rivers, and bays before reaching their ultimate destination, the oceans. Many cities throughout the World dump untreated sewage into coastal waters. Cities along rivers and harbor maintain shipping channels by dredging the polluted muck and barging it out to sea, and that is why the oceans in California and other parts of the United States of America are brown or dark green and not clear, blue or sea green. They barge out sewage sludge, also. (Sludge refers to coarse, settled solids. It contains bacteria, viruses, toxic metals, and possibly hospital waste.) Sometimes, following storms, this black sludge washes ashore.

Picture 139

The United States of America has about 15,000 facilities for treating the liquid wastes, from about 70 percent, of the population and 87,000 industries. The remaining wastes, mostly from suburban and rural populations, are treated in lagoons or septic tanks or discharged—untreated—directly into waterways. Since 1978, the upper Occoquan Sewage Authority has been discharging recycled water into a stream above Occoquan Reservoir, a potable water supply source for Fairfax County, Virginia. Nevertheless, most wastewater is not being properly treated. A typical pattern is repeated thousands of times, along our water ways. Water for drinking is removed upstream from a city, and wastes from industry and sewage treatment are discharged downstream. It takes no great leap of faith to see that pollution intensifies as rivers flow toward oceans.

Picture 166

As you may recall, there are three levels of wastewater treatment. In primary treatment, screens and settle tanks remove the sludge, which is then dried, burned, dumped in landfills, or treated further. *Chlorine often is used to kill pathogens, in the water, but it does not kill them all. Furthermore, chlorine may react with certain industrial chemicals to produce chlorinated organic compounds, some of which are carcinogens. In secondary treatment, microbial populations are employed to degrade the organic matter. Secondary treatment occurs after primary treatment, but before chlorination. The wastewater is either sprayed or trickled through large beds of exposed gravel, in which microbes live, or aerated in tanks and seeded with microbes. Toxic solutes sometimes poison the microbial employees, however.

Picture 062

The combination of primary and secondary treatment does remove most oxygen-demanding wastes and suspend solids. Still, considerable nitrogen, phosphorus, and toxic substances, including heavy metals, pesticides, and industrial chemicals still remain. Usually the water gets chlorinated before being released into the waterways, but sometimes not. Tertiary treatment is largely experimental. Tertiary treatment may adequately reduce pollution levels. Being expensive, It is used on only 5 percent of the nation’s wastewater.

Picture 008

In Louisiana, where waters drained from the central states flow toward the Gulf of Mexico, pollution levels are high enough to be a threat to public health. Water destined for drinking does get treated to remove pathogens. However, the treatment does not remove toxic wastes from numerous factories upstream. You may find it illuminating to investigate where your own city’s supply of water comes from and where is has been.

Picture 183

It is important to note that about 85-percent of the City of Sacramento, California’s drinking water comes from local rivers, not ground water. Ground water often times have chemicals like chromium 6 in it, which is a heavy metal. Chromium 6 can occur naturally but can also enter drinking water sources, by historic leaks, from industrial plants’ hazardous waste sites. When inhaled, Chromium 6 is known to be a potent carcinogen. Research also shows that in laboratory mice and rats, who were exposed to Chromium 6, through drinking water, the Chromium 6 was recently found to also cause cancer in these test subjects.

Picture 069

As the population increases, more demands are placed on water supplies, and recycled water may be a viable option. In Southern California, more than 66 percent of their water supply is imported from outside the region, mainly from the Sacramento River and The Colorado River.

Picture 170

Recycled water is wastewater from homes, businesses, and industry that, as a result of advanced treatment, has been made reusable again for various types of uses, treatments that exceed state and federal drinking water standards. Microfiltration and reverse osmosis are the most advanced phases of water treatment, and the final product is as pure as the bottled water you buy at your local supermarket. And by recycling water, we are cleaning it before it goes into the ocean, which will help keep the ocean and animals safe. Humans must never be a slave of routine; but in old days, it was a routine of great thoughts, and now it is a routine of little ones. If you want to mar a nature, you have to reform it.

The Year of Stars—Cosmic Phenomena

Cosmic 006

How many ways are there to undo poor creatures! No speck so troublesome as self. He felt the same depression that he had felt as he went to sleep a century ago. And though he knew it would only make his depression worse, he immediately scanned backward as his ship decelerated, hunting for the star that had been the Sun. He could not find it. Which meant that even with the accelerated and decelerated time, the light from the nova—or supernova—had not yet reached the system he was headed for.

Cosmic 005

On 14 September 2014, around 11pm, a bight ball of light was seen heading toward Earth. The fireball was seen in Washington, D.C, the Northeast, and Midwest, and some people even saw the fireball in New York, New York, USA, and some report seeing five meteors fall before the fireball lite up the night sky. It is hard to believe that many people have never seen a falling star, or meteor. This is incredible because with the merest care and perseverance, one clear, dark night of observing will result in seeing not one, but many, even dozens of, meteors on some special nights.

Fireballs 003

For example, around August 11, observers under ideal conditions will catch the flash of 50 to 100 meteors an hour. This event is called the Perseid meteor shower, known to Europeans as the Tears of St. Lawrence. And, as we shall see, there are at least two other periods of the year—January and December—that offer activity on the same order magnitude. Rarer and much more remarkable, through, are so-called meteor storms, when as many as 10,000 to 20,000 meteors fall every hour. One of such storm has been predicted to occur near the end of the century. These storms are a phenomenon that truly captures public attention. Their charm is enhanced by the fact that comets, meteors, and stars are bright and look pretty, but have caused fires, major damage to buildings and houses.

Fireballs 005

In 36 A.D., we find the first reference to the Perseid meteor shower, more than 100 meteors were seen darting about in the morning hours. The first mention of the Eta Aquarid meteors dates to the year 466, countless meteors, great and small, appeared toward the West. In records from the year 585, a reference to the Orionids is found: hundreds of meteors scattered in every direction; in the year 687, the Lyrids report: starts feel like rain from the sky; and in 1002, the Leonids report a lot of little stars fell. In the Arab chronicles, in mid-October of the year 902, an infinite number of stars was seen during the night, scattering like rain right and left, and that came to be known as the year of the stars. The stars flew like a swarm of grasshoppers.

Cosmic 002

And on 12 November 1799, a planter in South Carolina awoke to the desperate cries of slaves on his and two nearby plantations. He heard a voice calling him to come out and yelling, “Oh my God, the World is in flames!” Dashing outside, he did not know whether to be more amazed by the celestial performances or by the crowd facedown on the ground imploring God to save them and the World. Another eye witness, Strickland, reported that two fireballs were half as bright as the moon, and that several hundred of these gorgeous stars were visible at once…leaving a long steak of flame in their tracks. In 1861, American astronomer Daniel Kirkwood suggested the currently accepted explanation for the origin of meteor showers—residue of particles of material (now known as meteoroid streams) from old comets, distributed along their orbits. Our souls are not our own. We covey a property in them to those with whom we associate; but to what extent can never been known, until we feel the tug, the agony, or our abortive effort to resume an exclusive sway over ourselves.

Oscar Winning Actress Arrested for Kissing her Husband—Hunting Season on African Americans

10514749_817496334949933_4354716243156750465_n_zpsce2666ea

Seduction opens the door to a dismal train of innumerable miseries; evil is very seductive. Jealousy and games prevent honest, intimate communication and relationships, in society. Yet, the individuals who play games and are full of hatred play games with other people lives because these game fill up time, provoke attention, reinforce early opinions, about self and others, and fulfill hooligans with a sense of destiny. Many African Americans report feeling intensely scrutinized. However, critics report that these African Americans are just paranoid, and they may be right. Some European American sociologists have used the term paranoia to describe this protective anger, shyness, and caution among African Americans, when they are encountering the European American majority. Paranoia means an abnormal suspiciousness or fear of being hurt. Nonetheless, African American psychiatrists have provided evidence that this protective behavior is not all that abnormal for most African Americans, it represents a necessary defense against the real hostility and threat that is very often experiences in interacting with European Americans.

132213-3

First of all, I strongly dislike addressing issues of cultural discrimination, although it is prevalent, only in certain segments of the population. I am young and I have many young friends, of all ethnic backgrounds, and they are accepting of everyone. When I write about discrimination, it confuses them and leaves them feeling alienated or like I am upset with them and they do not want to talk to be because they get offended. However, many African Americans face discrimination, which others do not, and it is horrible because employers just sit back and pretend not to know that they have racist employees, in their corporation and just let them run wild and harass African Americans or kill them, at will, and see nothing wrong with it. Recently, Trayvon Martin, Oscar Grant, and Mike Brown are all young black men, unarmed, and killed by officers or someone acting as a vigilante. It seems that no matter what African Americans are doing, someone wants to target them. It does not matter if you are just buying skittles or kissing your European American husband.

2014-07-22_2019_001

The history of race relations, in the United States, is coming under major heat. On 12 September 2014, an Oscar winning African American Actress was arrested, by a rogue officer, for kissing her European American husband, Brain James Lucas, in public. American actress Daniele Watts, who played a role in the film, Django Unchained, explains she is frustrated and angry that the police mistook her for a prostitute, after she kissed her husband under a tree. Daniele Watts was fully dressed, and sober, but refused to admit she did anything wrong by kissing her husband, so two police officers, from Studio City, hand cuffed her. The hand cuffs were so tight that the actress cried and has a cut on her wrist.

2014-09-14_1843

The police department claims that she “Fit the description of a suspect.” However, the same thing happened to another prominent African American August when film producer, Charles Belk, also African American, was arrested and held for six hours because he was allegedly for an accomplice to a bank robbery, while in the area, for a pre-Emmys party.

BsIG5G-IYAAyXul

Clearly it is hunting season, on African Americans, in America, and this makes any people uncomfortable to go outside because if an officer does not like you or what you are doing, they can claim that you fit the description of a suspect and detain you. Being arrested is serious, not only is it embarrassing, but it is a health and safety risk for many, and something has got to be done about the racism toward African Americans, in America. These racist people need mental evaluations and have to become accountable for their actions. The only way this is going to stop if you all start suing these organizations for breaking your Human Rights and Civil Rights. Even if you lose, it is best to take a stand because it cost corporations a lot of money to defend themselves. Nonetheless, Los Angeles California seems to be a hot house for racism. NBC Universal is a great example of a corporation, in Los Angeles, who allowed their photojournalist, Kenny Holmes, to get away with stalking, scamming him out of hundreds of dollars and harassing an ex fan, for years on end, and then threaten that fan, after he brought the issue to the attention of the Better Business Bureau. The ex-fan of the photojournalist also was African American.

Saturday 079

The photojournalist was showing up in his apartment building, without having been given the address, harassing the fan on a social media site called thought.com under the name of wirelessguru1, and the photojournalist, Kenny Holmes, would even be waiting, on the concern for the young African American man to pull up to his home, and had been seen following him around. The African American man lives in Northern California and the photojournalist lives and works in Southern California, so Kenny Holmes was traveling far to stalk this fan and to this day has not been punished, but has been reported to law enforcement and his employers. As a result of the way the African American man was treated by Kenny Holmes and his employers, he lost his faith in God. The situation is really deep and got pretty dangerous, but justice has not been served. We have to stand up for the rights of African Americans because when they stand up for themselves, aggressor threaten to have them arrested by the racist police, and you know how it goes, if you are African American, and accused of a crime, the police are likely to believe you are a criminal just because of your skin color. As the sore palate findeth grit, so an uneasy consciousness heareth innuendoes.

Intelligence, knowledge and Learning

Struggles with the natural character, the strong native bent of the heart, may seem futile and fruitless, but in the end, they do well. They tend, however slightly, to give the actions, the conduct, that turn which Reason approves, and which Feeling, perhaps, too often opposes; they certainly make a difference in the general tenor of life, and enable it to be better regulated, more equable, quitter on the surface; and it is on the surface only the common gauge will fall. As to what lies below, leave that with God. Cultural triumphs are among some of the most beneficial developments for Americans, and there has been a cultural regeneration, in every American collective, with a substantial success in the African American community. Ideas, careers, and talent, from African Americans, has proliferated the consciousness of the World and especially America, and has allowed African Americans to excel; major leaps and bounds have been made in education, career, music, history, science, technology, festivals, writing and publishing, in TV and the news media. To further illustrate this point, there are more than 200 books, which produced by African Americans, and that is up from a few dozen just a few years ago. There are more than seventy-five African American publishing companies, and there is now a National Literary Hall of Fame for Writers of African Descent opened at Chicago State University. The purpose is to foster and sustain an interest in Literature, Music, and the Fine Arts by identifying and encouraging individual artists. This is allowing America to get to know successful African Americans and enjoy their life, energy, and culture, which is American culture. While we are speaking about the success and prominence of African Americans, I would like to take the time to recognize one of the most credible and prominent journalist, in Sacramento, California, Tia Ewing.

Tia Ewing is an amazing journalist; she is an employee, at the prestigious station, FOX40 News. FOX40 has a lot of wonderful journalist and photojournalist, and Tia Ewing is one of them. Tia loves her career and audience and the material she presents. Not only is Tia Ewing i not only successful, but she is also kind and always tries to see the best and others and look out for people who may need a little help. Recently, Tia Ewing recently won an award, for being an Exceptional Woman of Color, in Communications and Public Affairs. The award was presented by the Sac Hub Media Foundation. We would like to take the time to congratulate Journalist Tia Ewing for being an inspiration for not only women, but also for men and all Americans. She is really a sweetheart and is serious about her career. If you get a chance, tune into FOX40 News, on Saturday and Sunday, at 5pm and 10pm to see Tia Anchor the news. She always works during the week, too. After having yesterday off, to receive her award, Tia Ewing reports, “Loved my Saturday, but duty calls. Join me, back on the anchor desk today right after the 49ers game on FOX40. See you then!” We are all also looking forward to seeing you, Miss Tia, and I know being honor and recognized feels good. Therefore, I want the rest of you to keep in mind, dreams do come true, and just because you may not have been recognized yet, keep doing what you are good at (this advice actually came from Miss Tia Ewing). Every bright star is heard somewhere. There is many a way to win in this World, but none of them is worth much without good hard work to back it.

Cultural Experience with African Americans

Many of us tend to be curious about ourselves and others. We want to know how and why thing happen. As we become more aware that we live in a global society comprised of people from diverse backgrounds, ethnic, religious, political and social backgrounds. One of the most common ways of gaining knowledge is through experience, which largely relies on trial-and-error learning. Okay, so this is what is going on with the cultural issues. The United States is only 13 percent African American; 43 million citizens out of 315 million, are African Americans. To put this in context, there are 93 million women, in American, who watch football. Therefore, African Americans only make up 13 percent of the nation and that is how. Out of that 13 percent, 3.5 percent, of the African Americans are poor, and likely who you guys interact with and get your ideas from. Out of the 43,000,000 African Americans, which make up the United States, 30 percent are poor, and the 70 percent are middle calls and rich. So there are 315,000,000 million people in the US and about 30,000,000 middle class and rich African Americans in America, and 13,000,000 African Americans, who are poor. So, you guys are not seeing the middle class and rich African Americans because there are not many African American people in this country, as a unit.

Pride is in some Instances a Virtue

Open your heart to the influence of the light which from time to time breaks in upon you. Pride—where there is a real superiority of mind—will be always under good regulation. No one is paid to sit around being capable of achievement—what you so should always be more important than what you should be able to do, and I have to remind myself of this all the time, but I will get into that later. Meanwhile, most of the successful individuals have had someone who believes in them and supports them.

These support groups can be friends, family, coworkers, teachers, police, reporters, firefighters, just about anyone who wants to place a high value on learning, and wants to encourage you to do the same. People who possess intellectual determination have a known desire to excel and persevere. Therefore, such findings tells us that children, born with special needs, tend to be more motivated to learn and persistent.

Nonetheless, once a woman becomes pregnant, her own health habits and care play an important part in the development of a healthy fetus. It is important to go to the doctor the moment you discover you are pregnant and take prenatal vitamins. However, no matter how hard you try, sometimes you are blessed with children who have special needs, and that does not make them bad or mean that if you detect a birth defect, then you should abort your child. I used to think it was a good idea and later on, you will find out why.

We cannot hope to move those with delight or terror, whose interests and values and opinions are neither known or do we understand. In America, about 150,000 babies, each year are born with special a needs, which is about 3 percent of all births in America. These children are also beautiful and perfect in their own way. I used to think that it was selfish for anyone to knowingly give life to a child, when they know the child is going to come out defective, but that is not true. We live in a World where prefect looking people are bullied for being too pretty, too handsome, too thin, too rich, too poor, or for being ugly, so how would a children with a birth defect fair, if perfect children are not even accepted?

Not only that, but many children with birth defects do truly have special needs. Often times, their bodies and/or minds programs do not function they ways a normal child’s will. Sometimes that is a benefit or a disadvantage. However, we live in a World where there is a lot of crime; there is a crime, in America every 2.5 seconds. There is a violent crime every 22 seconds, property crime every 3 seconds, one murder every 32.9 minutes, a forcible rape every 5.8 minutes, one robbery every 1.2 minutes, one aggravated assault every 34.8 seconds, one burglary every 14.9 seconds, one larceny-theft every 4.5 seconds, and one motor vehicle theft every 25.7 seconds. With those statistics, I figure, why bring someone into the World, with a known disadvantage, to deal with that and have to compete with perfectly functioning human beings?

An uninformed individual is a true monster. Well, today, as I was Midtown, I met this beautiful little boy, with platinum blonde hair and blue eyes, and he was with his father and just so happy to be out at night, and was staring, at the lights, and smiling, with the look of amazement and wonder, in his eyes. The child, however, was born with special needs, but he may grow up to function just as well, if not better than other children because you can tell he is a good person, he is bright and smart, and just wonderful and that little soul deserves a chance to flourish and grow and help change the World. He does not even know he has special needs, and it is possible that no one else knows either.

With those special needs, he may spend time focusing on a way to make the World better, but not only that, he will probably teach others not to be judgmental, and love others for who they are. Ludwig von Beethoven (1770-1827) was a great German music composer, and he was deaf and also intellectually restricted, but somehow managed to use his special needs to make the World more beautiful for himself and others.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was one of the most famous artist in the World. He was an Italian painter, sculptor, writer, scientist, engineer, musician and architect, and generally known as a renaissance genius. Nonetheless, Leonardo da Vinci’s special need was Strephosymbolis, which means that he was unable to process symbols accurately, but he went down in history for his art work.

And finally, Wilma Glodean Rudolph (1940-1994) was an American athlete and an Olympic champion. Wilma Rudolph was considered the fastest woman, in the World, in the 1960s, and competed in two Olympic Games, in 1956 and in 1960. Yet, Wilma Rudolph had Poliomyelitis, which is a viral disease that can affect nerves and can lead to partial or full paralysis. Therefore, just because your child has special needs, does not mean that they cannot achieve great things.Children with special needs can and will do wonderful things in life.

Sometimes a child with special needs will become a greater person than a perfect child because instead of focusing on the external, many times these children with special needs know they have some obstacles and will spend their time focusing on honest ways to overcomes things in their pathways.

While other children are out bullying and acting like hooligans, children with special needs will spend their time trying to enhance their abilities. So instead of trying to make themselves look better by bring others down, they find ways to become irreplaceable and will steal your heart with how they persevere and succeed, but do not seem to hold a grudge. In fact, you will never find out some people have special needs until you get to know them very, very well, and they open up to you—pride, in some instances a virtue.
