The Gift of Blood

As poisonous adders lurk beneath the cover of the most delightful shrubberies, so falsity and deceit are concealed under alluring language. Darkness is more eligible than light to those whose deeds are evil. Most people strive to become greater than they once were. Healthy individuals purse enlightenment and power so they can be contributing members of society, and they keep working and growing, always looking for improvement. Their entire life is spent gaining more knowledge and implementing what they learn to leave the World better than they found it. However, sometimes in life people face setbacks, but great people know perseverance is the key to success. Most people have a strong desire to do more in life than they are currently doing. Unauthorized and abhorrent thoughts will sometimes invade the best human heart. However, people who have a mindset of lack and limitation focus on what they do not have and worry about losing what they have and this creates jealousy and conflict. Thoughts are very important. Did you know that in the central nervous system, sensory and motor signals can move around as fast as 220 miles per hour, and you consciously perceive them over a matter of seconds? So when you focus on what you do not have and how much others have, this experience will reduce your personal growth. Every noisy evil is missed when it is taken away.

Some people have learned to appreciate and enhance the World that exists and they are generally happy, loving, and giving. Conversely, people who operate on lack and limitation are more possessive, envious, and jealous. They spend their time plotting and gossiping. Research has indicated that people who are more concern with improvement of society would make the World more generous, appreciative, confident, and trustworthy. A work of grace in the soul discovereth itself either to him that hath it, or to standers by. How can we argue about God’s power in the other stars from the laws which he has given for our rule in this one? Many people have been manipulating religious teachings to justify their bad behavior, because they can always ask for forgiveness, and they also are down trotting of this World. Some people think that this alleged after life will be so much better than the current World that they do not take this life too serious. However, after you pass away, there is not proof that you will be in a better place, you may just be erased from the World and that is the end of your existence. Other people are so self-obsessed that they will make sure to make the best of this life so they have no regrets. From whence our greatest good springs, our greatest evils arise.

Some entitled people think so much of themselves that they do not spend much time paying attention to their actions nor how they might be perceived by others. Whereas, people who are suffering or struggling to survive, and may have less than others, often times are humble because they do not feel good enough about themselves or do not have the time to become narcissistic. Their levels of self-obsession requires them to prove themselves to themselves, and as they grow their self-esteem will increase, along with their feelings of being loved and belonging. My heart is a desert island, and my soulmate lives in it alone. Nonetheless, some people have no hearts to break. There are many ways of showing the heart. Deep, deep, and still deep and deeper must we go, if we would find out the heart of a man. Emotionally healthy people are more accepting, they love themselves and others, they are simple, independent, realize how important others are, express creativity, and display tolerance. When they inspire others, they do so for the sake of others, not for their own interest. However, sometimes when you inspire people, they get attached to you, and you become their energy source, and when you want to let go, it leaves them wanting more from you. They may feel like you belong to them, and sometimes this can put you in an awkward situation. Maybe you just wanted to uplift them, for a short period of time, but now they might want you to stay in their lives.

Although we have certain intentions, life has plans that we may not be aware of. When you inspire someone and they become attached to you, it could be because you are their soulmate and do not even realize it. The two of you identify through a process of energy fields, and belong together. You connection has opened the Universe to this other person, they become curious about you, and want to explore your World and wonder what experiences await them and what they have been missing when you were not in their lives. Your soulmate is attracted to you because they are ready for new and unusual experiences. When they are with you, they feel things they have not observed with others—their thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and beliefs grow and improve. They notice that they appreciate reality a little more. You inspire your soulmate to think new thoughts, accept change, help their imagination grow, you teach them to appreciate beauty, enjoy cultures, become more intelligent. When around you, your soulmate is more curious, has a desire for adventure, creates new fantasies, their thinking goes from pack mentality—to individual thinking, and they become more flexible, value emotions, and their vocabulary increases, they also learn to value emotions more.

Hostages Seized and Killed in Attack on Radisson Hotel

No child is born hostile or aggressive. It becomes so only when its desires to be loved and to love are frustrated, that is, when it expected satisfactions are thwarted—and the thwarting of an expected satisfaction is the definition of frustration. I entertain the hope that in our venturing we shall get addicted to wonder and know the joy of constantly feeling something a little new. Grief can take care of itself, but to get full value of a joy, you must have somebody to divide it with. We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another. In Bamako, Mali—an unknown number of Islamist militant gunmen stormed a Radisson Blu hotel on the morning of 20 November 2015 in Bamako, the capitol of the West African nation of Mali, taking at least 170 people as hostages, and killing an estimated 3 people. Because of all of the terrorist attacks, many people are wondering if Muslims and Islamist are religions of terror?

Over the centuries, churches, synagogues, and mosques have had a number of important socializing effects on their participants as well as on society as a whole. In the main, these have to do with an individual’s approach to how to answer certain important questions about life, death, how to deal with people, and the structure of one’s value system. Perhaps the most important socializing effect of many churches is to teach members that there is an answer to every important question—and that leading a good life consists of learning these answers and following them to the letter. In effect, people were provided with a whole code of ethics and set of rules for living. Many decisions were eliminated. All the devout person had to do was find the church’s view of the answer.

Many people are learning to abuse religion. Because God forgives anyone of any sin, people use this as an excuse to partake in bad behavior, and then pray to God and ask for forgiveness. Even if you are evil and bad your entire life, you can ask God to forgive you on your death bed, and he will. So people have no incentive to behave. This position, too, has seen and experienced much change. Churches today are more inclined to encourage individual responsibility. For some, this has contributed considerably to the amount of anxiety in the World over the number of unanswered questions “running around loose” in each person’s head. Much of the popularity of the Back to Jesus movement may be due to the desire for renewed certainty—the feeling that the Bible and the church have a certain answer for every difficult question. And those who do not participate in such religious experiences may look elsewhere for that sense of certainty—whether in drugs, astrology, political ideology, or even psychology.

Many people have left organized churches because of difference between what the church teaches and what goes on in the real World. Others left because their religion insisted on dividing people into believers and unbelievers, teaching hatred and rejection for those with different beliefs. Many young people have begun to borrow ideas from oriental religions like Buddhism, Taoism, and Indian meditation cults. It seems to me that if we are going to live sanely, then we must respect and be sensitive to differences, realizing that no two individuals are alike, and that is we really understand someone, we understand how they differ from us. Freedom in religion, freedom in life, asks one fundamental overriding questions: Who do you want to be? It does not tell you who you must be, not even that there are some real and productive laws of your being that you were destined to become. Religion asks you never to forget how each day can be described by the possibilities it contains and how tomorrow shall be as well. All freedom can do is to illuminate the possibilities that can be opened to us and toward which we can steer ourselves by making our choices real.

The Joyful Condemned

Do we never perceive our own foibles? It is happy we can find consolation in the follies of our neighbors. The simple mechanism of reward and punishment employed by the limbic system seems to be expressed as feelings of expansion and contraction. In all our experiences of well-being, euphoria, ecstasy, and meaningfulness, the overwhelming sense is that of an expansion of consciousness, of feeling boundless and free. In a greatly extended form this pleasurable experience is present in every religious and mystical tradition. People may really have in them some vocation which is not quite plain to themselves. Expansion of consciousness is a term used by most religions and is particularly popular today. Its polar opposite is the limited and contracted consciousness that is the lot of most of us. When is a mental argument conducted without some reference to selfish considerations? The pain, anguish, depression and sense of being imprisoned is only too common in modern psychological dysfunctions. Selfish are the hearts of poor mortals, they are ready to change as favor goes. Yet we strive to embrace the limitless. Some do it through mind- or mood-altering drugs or alcohol, others through the temporary sense of freedom that romance, the acquisition of money or power seems to provide. Some even do it through their body, in risky sports like skiing or mountain climbing. There is a temper of mind which borrows a degree of virtue even from self-love.

Happiness and misery are increasingly found to be due to the effect of our own under- or over-privileged chemical plants. While much of our physical functioning is out of our immediate control, changes in conscious attention have been known to alter the chemistry of the emotional system. An increase in awareness creates a greater chance to change the nature of our unconscious patterns of behavior. Happy and happy, there are so many hundred ways. A person may be happy in revolt; one may be happy in sleep; wine, change, and travel make some happy; virtue will do the like—and in old quiet, and habitual marriages there is yet another happiness. Make two lists, each on a separate sheet of paper. On one sheet list those experiences that create feelings of expansion n you, those that you find delight in. They could include the pleasure of a warm cup of coffee in the morning, how you feel when you see the love of your life, or buying your dream house. On the other, lists those experiences that make you feel contracted, like an acutely embarrassing situation or anxiety about your bank balance. Take at least ten minutes to compile them and see how many experiences you can come up with in that time. Then check the list. The person who can join ideas with the most propriety will separate them with the greatest nicety.

Whichever is the longer or was most easily constructed—expansive or contractive—will give you a clear indication of the present state of your emotional brain and of your likely corresponding behavior. The very act of making such a list will actually begin to change it. You will have brought it to consciousness. My feelings cannot be hurt. No one wishes to harm me, and there is nothing in me that can believe in any separation from the all good. I perceive that I am free from all people, and I cannot be harmed nor mistreated. Love and labor, two beautiful old fashions that began long ago, with the first pair in Eden. I have such a sense of unity with all that is in the universe and am complete and perfect. I love my friends, and they love me, and that love is in, and of, God, and cannot be marred nor hindered. I am filled with joy and love, forever. Love, in general, arises from the pleasure which all people naturally take in whatever they judge or perceive to be good and perfect. Charity and religion can be made to fit every shape. Love levels all distinction. Love is the soul of harmony, the connecting chain that links the whole frame of being; it is the glory of nature, and the very perfection of humankind.

Spencer Stone’s Prisoner

It seems to be the rule of this World, each person has what one does not want, and other people have what one does want. There are different degrees of turpitude, as there are different tempers to commit it. We have no right to intermeddle with people’s feelings when they would not tell them themselves. Few of us would care to admit that we are not in control of our emotions for that we are slaves to our reactions. There is a limit to the length of the inspection which a person can endure, under certain circumstances. Your attractive companion at a party gets drunk and behaves very embarrassingly to the other guest. Do you become aggressive and for him or her to leave? Quietly withdraw? Get bored and find the buffet? Find you are sexually excited by wild behavior? Become helplessly embarrassed and do absolutely nothing? To have in general but little feeling, seems to be the only security against feeling too much on any particular occasion. The feelings of the human heart are as different as the tinctures of the skin.

We often have to respond to threatening situations that involve a tactical choice. We can choose, for example, either to fight a gang, or to run. We can find comfort in food, in the diversion of sexual experiments, or we can freeze when the level of stress simply becomes too confusing. What we feel matters much more than what we know. Feeling does not stay to calculate with weights and a balance the importance and magnitude of every object that excites it; it flows impetuously from the heart, without consulting the cooler responses of the understanding. Such patterns are natural, but if we constantly choose one particular response to the virtual exclusion of all others, they begin to dictate our behavior in an unhealthy way. Spender Stone, from Sacramento, California, USA allegedly stopped a robbery on a train, by hogtying the suspect and beating him senseless. As a result, Spencer Stone was deemed a hero and his vigilante behavior was reward by being on display in parades, winning awards, and even making several appearances on TV.

While it is prudent to run away from a gang, Spencer Stone got used to being a vigilante. He was allegedly trying to protect a female, and as a result was jumped by a gang, and stabbed several times. After bleeding all over the ground, Spencer Stone was hospitalized and in critical condition. When you are constantly trying to be a hero, you start to think that you can take control of every situation. Because there is a direct connection to the most ancient and unconscious part of the brain, these instinctual reactions are both difficult to detect and even more difficult to change. And that is why the police tell people do not try to be a hero, call the police, as they are there to protect and save you. Being a vigilante could cost you your life, endanger others, and make the situation worse. The cold part about, after the knife fight was over, the young lady allegedly left with the guys’ Spencer Stone was trying to protect her from. Sometimes it is best just to mind your own business.

Any aspect of ourselves that is essentially unconscious part is also prone to become robotic. It can become mechanical and unmoved by sentiment or sensitivity—a jump in the groove of an old record, endlessly playing the same few notes until something or someone jolts it sufficiently to break the cycle. Now, after almost dying in a gang fight, I am sure Spencer Stone is thankful to be alive and sees that he is not invincible like Superman. The idea that we might be merely an unconscious slave to something little more than a robot is enough to nudge most of us out of any rut. The eye, though it does not tell all, tells much. It is the key of character, the mirror of the soul. The eye of the spirit cannot be dimmed, neither can it be limited in its ability to see. My eyes are the vision of my indwelling Lord; they are the windows of my inner spirit and are always open to the vision of truth.

Sympathy of Nature

His dreams were as gigantic as his surroundings were small. Nature constantly tempers one gift with another, in order to maintain a proper equality. So many people are stressed out everyone knows stress can make you sick or even kill you. As a result, many are spending so much money to distress. People do things like drinking, going out to eat, joining the gym, getting massages, and maybe those are all very good ways to relax, but they are also very expensive. One of the most relaxing things in life is nature. My friend Matthew used to look so stressed out and grumpy, but I noticed that when he starts spending more time in nature, his eyes started to look different. After a few months of going to his favorite park and running, he lost weight, and his eyes looked happy and inquisitive. His spirit also seemed to be a lot lighter, as a person he really transformed. He just seems a lot lighter. I also love going to the park and enjoying nature. There is this huge castle in the center of the park, and it is very beautiful, but it not really the focal point. The main beauty of the area is the beautiful roses and flowers, there is a good chance something will be blooming no matter what time of the year it is. The roses are so pretty and tall, they look so enchanting, many of the rose bushes are even taller than me, that is something I had never seen before.

The park also possesses some of the most beautiful and mature trees that I have ever seen. Many of them are over 150 years old, some of them are younger, and there is such a variety. Besides their scientific name, some of the trees are even named after Senators and have stories that go along with them. There is even one tree I have never seen anywhere in the World at this park, it is called a catfish tail palm, and is one of my favorite. I have lived in the area for six years, and when I first started going to the park for my walk, I was taller than the park, for a nature walk, to stay in shape, the catfish tail palm tree was just a baby, but now it is at least 30 feet tall. There are some trees that seem to come out of nowhere sometimes. One night I walked right into one of them. And sometimes you will even see raccoons in the park traveling in packs, and they are not at all as scary as people say they are. Some of them actually seems shy. One time I saw a raccoon and stopped dead in my tracks because we hear to many rumors about them, but the poor baby put his paws over his eyes and I could tell he was a gentle creature, and just walked right past him. There really is not a bad time to go to the park, but I usually like to be in before Sundown. Yet, sometimes I will go for a walk just to release stress, and burn calories. Nature has tranquility and will comfort people with its sympathy and joy. The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses people with peace.

Did Paris Hilton Secretly Marry?

The forms of family structure are changing for many. Some couples, whether formally married or not, are entering into contractual arrangements (“contract marriages”), whereby roles and responsibilities formerly “understood” are outlined in detail for each partner. A part of this “revolution” is that sexual roles are becoming much more flexible. No longer is the wife always expected to perform all the housework and child-raising duties, especially if she has another job. Thus, one of the major effects of many “contract marriages” is to help destroy old sexual stereotypes through they are still far from dead. Paris Hilton may be ready to settle down, especially considering her sister, Nikki Hilton, recently married James Rothschild. Nonetheless, Paris Hilton is deeply in love with her boyfriend, Thomas Gross, she even believes he is her soulmate. They two met in May of 2015, and it is reported that he is a very nice guy and cherishes Paris. Thomas Gross is a millionaire and a Swiss businessman worth $200 million. He is originally from Australia, but now lives in Zurich, Switzerland. Thomas Gross currently works as the IT Project Manager for Swiss International Airlines, after selling his company RunningBall to The Perform Group, for $153 million, in 2013. Paris Hilton is not only famous, but she is also a successful businesswoman and worth over $100 million. Many people have always wanted Paris Hilton to date a businessman, and not a celebrity, because the wanted to see her in a monogamous relationship with someone who is willing to take love seriously. Many celebrities are known for being immature and incapable of avoiding hooking up with other celebrities. As a result, people are so happy that Eve has found her Adam and the two are a happy couple.

As for now, Paris Hilton and Thomas Gross are cohabitating, and maybe marriage is in their future, they surely will make a great power couple. Cohabitation without marriage is being entered into by some couples. It may serve as a “trial marriage” for others, in which they explore their compatibility and their personal feelings about married life before formally marrying and starting a family. In spite of experimentation, most people will continue to establish conventional, nuclear families. The number of children will likely be restricted to one, two, or none. The idea of couple’s having no children at all is an acceptable option in today’s society. Until the combined forces of the population crunch and women’s liberation hit, a married couple was considered incomplete and perhaps even selfish if they did not want children. Now that is no longer. The question is not whether having children is right or wrong. Of course, it is right for some couples and wrong for others. However, the option of childless family may have a very fundamental and important effect on the whole way in which people look at the purpose and structure of marriage. Most couples, however, will marry because they seek a meaningful family relationship. We all wish Paris Hilton and Thomas Gross the best, in whatever the loving couple decided to do. Marriage is more than a creation of the laws. As the solemn deed of life, the culminating act of our existence, an anticipation of its ordinances is not to be cancelled by seeking their countenance; marriage is made in Heaven.

Ethical Note on Business and Risk

The greatest people may sometimes overshoot themselves, but their very mistakes are so many lessons of instruction to teach others the art of over-reaching. The prestigious New York law firm of Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays, and Handler, accused of withholding damaging information during a federal investigation of its client, Lincoln Savings and Loan, settled out of court for $41 million. The firm’s liability insurance covered only $25 million of the total $41 million. Thus, its 109 partners had to pay the remaining $16 million out of their own pockets. In a recent year, court damage awards in malpractice suits against American accountants and attorneys was close to $1 billion. If the partnership contract does not specify to the contrary, all net income or net loss is shared equally by the partners. Why do people choose partnerships? One major advantage of doing so is that the skills and resources of two or more individuals can be combined. In addition, a partnership does not have to contend with bureaucracy that a corporation must face. That is, a partnership is easily formed and is relatively free from government regulations and restrictions. Decisions can be made more quickly on substantive matters affecting their firm, whereas in a corporation, formal meetings with the board of the directors are often needed.

On the other hand, partnerships also have some major disadvantages: mutual agency, limited life, and unlimited liability. Unlimited liability is particularly troublesome to many individuals, because they may lose not only their initial investment but also their personal assets, if those assets are needed to pay partnership creditors. As a result, partnerships often find it difficult to obtain large amounts of investment capital. That is one reason why the largest business enterprises in the United States are corporations, not partnerships. With surprising speed, states are creating two new forms of business organizations that are being adopted by many small companies. Known as limited liability companies (LLCs) and limited liability partnerships (LLPs), they combine the advantage of partnerships and corporations by shielding owners from personal liability while taxing income at the individual level. The LLC structure is an option for many sole proprietorships as well. Partners in professional firms can and do make substantial incomes. For example, in one large international public accounting firm, the average earnings of all partners in recent years were over $400,000.00, and the individual earnings of the five most highly compensated partners was over $1 million.

Note, however, that the compensation of partners in most large partnerships differs in both form and substance from the compensation of a corporate executive. Partners are not guaranteed an annual salary. Compensation depends entirely on each year’s operating results. Substantial investment is required of each partner. This capital is at risk for the partner’s entire career—often 25-30 years—without an established return. Upon leaving, it is repayable without adjustment for inflation or appreciation value. Before we act, we must consider not only the misery produced, but the happiness precluded by our measures. Inequality among mankind is a foe to happiness. Satan uses his power to promote immoral, harmful practices. When we reject such practices, some friends and relatives may ridicule or oppose us. So we face a choice. Will we associate with people who love God? Will we obey his wise and loving laws? God’s love for mankind guarantees that evil and suffering will end. Those who demonstrate that they believe this will enjoy life on Earth forever. It is only a poor sort of happiness that could ever come by caring very much about our own narrow pleasures. A well-developed partnership agreement reduces ethical conflict among partners because it specifies in clear and concise language the process by which ethical and legal problems will be resolved. This issue is especially significant when the partnership experiences financial distress. Our senses are not dupes.

Traveller in the Byways

We must recognize that different political and cultural influences affect the accounting that occurs in international countries. For instance, in Sweden, accounting is considered an instrument to be applied to shape fiscal policy. In Europe generally, more emphasis is given to social reporting (more information on employment statistics, health of workers, and so on) because employees and their labor organizations are strong and demand that type of information from management. There is an old story that professors often tell students about a company looking for an accountant. The company approached the first accountant and asked: “What do you believe our net income will be this year?” The accountant said $4 million. The company asked the second accountant the same question, and the answer was “What would you like it to be?” Guess who got the job? The reason we tell the story here is that, because accounting principles offer flexibility, it is important that a consistent treatment be provided every time. Otherwise it would be very difficult to interpret financial statements. Perhaps no alternative methods should be permitted in account. What do you think? Was God’s creation defective? All of God’s works are perfect. The humans and angels who God created were capable of obeying God perfectly. God created us with the freedom to choose between doing good and doing bad. That freedom gives us a way to express love for God.

Cosementic Surgery for Dogs, just Puppy Love or Abuse?

We all know that people love dogs, some even respect the lives of dogs more than human life. And there are so many new amenities that are aimed at dogs, such a dog hotels, dog parks, dog gyms, dog walkers, dog restaurants, and even personal trainers for dogs. Whatever, to each his or her own, right? Well, what you may not know is dogs are now having plastic surgery, and not just for medical purposes, but to also look better. The procedures are medically safe, and make the pet more beautiful. And pet owners spent a whopping $62 million on dog plastic surgery. Dogs are now getting nose jobs, entropion surgery to lift a dog’s eyelids, dog are even getting neuticles, which are silicone testicular implants for dogs that have been neutered. Apparently more than 500,000 dogs have had testicular implants. However, it does not stop there! People are also getting tail shortening for their dogs, ear trimming to make the ears pointier, and dogs are even getting their wrinkles straightened.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and owners are also getting double eyelid surgery for their dogs, they are removing their stretch marks, fat, and even getting botox injections for the pooches. And this might surprise you, 47 percent of people see nothing wrong with dog surgery. However, some animal rights groups are calling it abuse. But still, people dress their dogs up for Halloween, put panty hoses on their legs, and wigs on their heads. Some people may find the puppy love unusual, but maybe history and biology can explain why people are so devoted to their dogs. Not everyone can have kids, or their kids have grown up and moved away, so they get dogs for companionship or protection. Other reasons, humans and dogs became best friends 40,000 years ago. Modern humans moved to Europe and Asia, and they tamed wolves. Humans and dogs used to live together, until they became competition for food.

Harris Corporation is over 120 years old, $8 billion annual revenue, more than 23,000 employees, including 9,000 engineers and scientists, supporting customs in more than 125 countries; it came to the notice of the Drama Advisory Committee that there are too many conflicting difficulties, and warring personalities destructive of one’s own. Each year 600,000 people visit the park, many attempting to time their arrival with wildflowers that ten to peak in May, June and October. Also, an ancient piece of pottery is estimated to be 12,000 years older than bones found in a nearby burial site. If the pottery is known to be 75,000 years old, how old are the bones? The pottery’s age is 12,000 more than the bones’ age. When we solve the equation 75,000 = 12,000 + b; therefore, if you subtract 12,000 from both sides, we find that b = 63,000. Because 63,000 and b represents the same number, Equation 1 can be written as b = 63,000. The bones are 63,000 years old. The pottery, at age 75,000 is 12,000 years older than the bones. The solution checks: 63,000 + 12,000 = 75,000.

She said, “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man. Later she gave birth to his brother Deacon Phillippe Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.” Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Brice Green Seth, saying “God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain had killed him.” Seth also had a son, and he named him William Winchester Enosh. At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD (Life Only Remembers Death). This is the written account of Adam’s line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. To this disgruntled tax collector and his revolutionary disciples in the late eighteenth century the concept of a royal palace, with its ceremonial and court life, was the unacceptable expression of absolute monarchy. Versailles, the quintessential royal palace so slavishly imitated all over Europe in the eighteenth century, was the prime target of the mob in the French Revolution. Like so many royal places, Versailles began life as a hunting lodge, recalling an earlier pattern of monarchy which depended upon how long the food supplies of the neighbourhood held out.

Medieval monarchs tended to move from place to place as politics and the appetite of the court required. For practical reasons the residences of kings were not so much palaces as fortresses the round tower at Amboise, for instance, recalls medieval warfare. By the end of the fifteenth century, however, the use of artillery on one level and, on a higher place, the spread of the Italian Renaissance, had made the medieval fortifies castle obsolete. After his accession to the throne of France in 1515, Francois I built the Renaissance wing at Blois with its spiral staircase and the enormous ‘hunting box’ of Chambord with its ordered arrangement of rooms (quite unlike the interior of a medieval castle). In Paris, this king’s architect Pierre Lescot gave the Louvre (later to become the biggest royal palace in the World) its specifically French Renaissance character. Finally at another old hunting lodge, the French ‘Mannerist’ version of the Renaissance reached its apogee with an interior splendidly decorated by the Italian School of Fontainebleau. A significant step in the development of the idea of the ‘royal palace’ was the King’s gallery at Fontainebleau, the first of its kind.

In Germany, where the Renaissance came a little later, the Munich Residenz was built in the middle of a city arranged around half a dozen courtyards. In Denmark, the royal palace of Frederiksborg expressed an emphatically northern versions of the Renaissance with its asymmetrical towers. In England, where acceptance of the Renaissance was held up by the Reformation, the Tudor Hampton Court stands as the best example of a royal palace from this period, through it was originally built for a commoner. The first truly classical building here, Inigo Jones’s Palladian Banqueting House in Whitehall, was not completed until a century later. After this, the word of the LORD came to Matthew Ryan Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” However, Abram said, “O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus? You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.” Then the word of the LORD came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the Heavens and count the star, if you can count the stars on the American flag, so shall your offspring be.” The Alhambra in Spain, built 1526 for Charles V, has been described as the most classic palace in Europe, with its round courtyard modelled on Hadrian’s villa.

The Escorial was more in the style of a Spanish feudal castle. Philip II’s monastic way of life in this vast convent palace personified the union of State and Church while the Escorial’s austere architecture hinted at the beginnings of the Early Baroque. The familiar closed courtyards of the Renaissance palaces were now to be replaced in the exuberant age of the Baroque by the open cour d’honneur. The Italian Ideal of a villa set on an axial approach with a park beyond was developed at Versailles into a symbol network of rays radiating around Le Roi Soleil. Inside, elaborate enfilades of state apartments, all with their own ceremonial purpose, completed the courtly ensemble of a ‘palace’ architecture. In the mid 1800s, it was a little more than a way station on the lengthy Butterfield stagecoach line, one of many depots where drivers could exchange their weary steeds for fresh ones before continuing on to their next stop. However, Willow Springs was somewhat of a different from other stopping places. For one thing, the stagecoach company had great difficulty keeping an attendant at the station after 1859. Everyone they sent adamantly maintained that the place was haunted. Considering what had occurred on the property, company official was not inclined to argue.

A study of the informal history of the American West during that era shows that newcomers had a way of simply appearing and either establishing themselves in any given town or moving on. No matter which choice they made, most did so without sharing the details of their lives with those whom they encounter in town. A young man named Jason Hillerson was just that sort of a stranger. In the mid-1850s, he arrived at the pretty little California town of Visalia. It did not take long for Hillerson to establish himself. He was handsome, friendly, and knowledgeable and eager to help anyone who might need assistance. He was an easy person to like. Although folks enjoyed Jason’s company, the also noticed that he never said anything about his past, do not be so distressed about the boy and your maidservant. Listen to whatever Sarah tells you. No one know who he had been before he affirms in Visalia, or even where he had come from, and no one asked. In 1859, when the position at William Springs livery came vacant, everyone in Visalia was surprised and sorry to learn that Jason Hillerson would be leaving their community to take the job at the isolated station. Despite his popularity, it was not long before most of the townsfolk had forgotten about the pleasant young man who had been in their midst for a while.

Shortly after Jason departed for his new duties, an even more charismatic stranger arrived in town. This man was very wealthy and was apparently looking for a local real estate to purchase as an investment. Meanwhile, the stagecoach stopped manned by Jason Hillerson was flourishing. To a man, the teamsters looked forward to their arrival at the well managed stopping place. Grown man, do not play with the kids. Focused. People disappear like hocus pocus. Not only did the new station master always have a fresh horse waiting for them, but he was also consistently pleasant to deal with. That is why, when a driver with a coach full of passengers and supplies made his regular stop at Willow Springs, he was quite surprised when he did not see a team of replacement steeds tied outside the barn and ready to go. Climbing down for the platform at the front of his stagecoach, the driver made his way into the stable and called out Jason’s name. Second later, he looked down and saw the young man’s body crumpled on the straw floor. He ran back to the stagecoach, shouting for a passenger he knew to be a physician. Sadly, it was too late for anyone to help Jason Hillerson, he was dead. They were on him like a blood hound, breathing heavy. I can take him out the game and the street gone let me.

Anyone can get it up in these trenches, West Coast. I am going to take out the game if this mutha fucka keep looking. The money go faster. I stay ready, I seen this shit get deadly. Come see me you can get hit swiftly. The doctor and the driver wrapped the young man’s body in a blanket and carried it to the stagecoach for the journey back to Visalia. In The Town, the physician examined the corpse carefully, but could not find any clues as to what might have killed Jason. When someone reported that the deceased had been known to go on drinking binges every few months, the doctor simply credited the death to alcohol abuse and dropped the matter. Not knowing if Jason had any relatives, the townsfolk wondered what to do with the body. When he heard that Jason Hillerson’s remains might be unceremoniously dumped in a pauper’s grave, the wealthy real estate speculator offered to pay for a proper service. A few days later, with most the town’s citizens present, Jason Hillerson’s body was formally laid to rest. By the end of the week, the generous benefactor had quietly let town, but few, is any, of the people of Visalia connected the two events. Jason Hillerson’s death left the station at Willow Springs in need of an attendant. As that station could not be tolerated, the stagecoach line quickly hired as a replacement a man who had known the deceased employee, a man we will call Frank.

Frank was setline in nicely to his secluded posting when, on the second evening of his assignment, he was relaxing in the kitchen of the small company supplied house. As he idly gazed out a window, Frank thought he saw a pair of eyes staring in at him. Knowing that there was no one for miles around, the man rubbed his eyes and gave his head a shake, thinking that he was perhaps a bit lonelier than he wanted to admit. Seconds later, the eyes vanished, leaving Frank with the distinct feeling that his imagination had been playing tricks on him. However, God said to him, “Do not be so distressed. Listen to me, I will make the son of the maidservant into a nation also, because he is your offspring.” As soon as Frank walked into the rough outbuilding where the horses were kept, Frank was glad he had come. The poor people were extremely agitated. As there was no readily apparent cause for the peoples’ distress, he presumed that they were ill and began rubbing them down. Just then, a movement in the corner of the stable caught his eye. Turning his head to get a better view, Frank clearly shows Jason Hillerson, the man whose funeral he had attended only a week before! Worse, this sighting was not a fleeting thing. Frank watched in paralyzing horror as a man he knew for certain to be dead tended to one of the other people in the stable. Seconds later, Frank fled from the church to the safety of a nearby house. That is how you know you fuckin’ with a boss.

I hear you talking about war, you say you got problems, no time for discussion. You say you ready to start dumping, people think it is funny until blood start gushing. My big brother told me to be the first to take off. If they disrespect, take their heads off. We never have been soft. If you are dropping dimes on some bridge, you get tossed, as you take your last breath, your vision is off. Yes, that is a fact. I thought you knew, boy, it has not ever been nothing. Keep with yourself, you do not want issues, I can have your bitch blowing with me like tissues. Once he had calmed down enough to catch his breath, Frank knew that he had seen a ghost. He realized that, even though Jason’s image had been quite clearly defining, it had also been transparent, Frank had been able to see the roughhewn timber walls through the main stables. Frank packed his bags, rode directly to his employer’s house, and quit his job. As he left the surprised man’s house, Frank made a statement that would has far reaching implications. “I think Jason Hillerson was murdered,” he declared. “His spirit’s not at rest because his killer has succeeded in getting away with the murder. No witnesses, no evidence, no way to indict me.” Then he prayed, “Oh, LORD, God of master Abraham, give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.”

However, the owner of the coach lines had more immediate concerns. He had to get the Willow Springs station manned before another stage came through in a few days. However, by the time he started looking for recruits, word of Frank’s terrifying experience had spread like wildfire, and no one wanted to work in a station that was said to be haunted. The eventual solution was not only expensive but, as it turned out, far from permanent. Two men offered to accept the assignment, as long as they could go to the outpost together. Not seeing that he had any alternative, the company owner aggressed. Unfortunately, even the extra expense of hiring two men did not solve the problem. Despite their initial bravado, Jason’s ghost chased the new employees away almost immediately. People began to refer to the area as “Haunted Springs” and started discussing what could be done to exorcise the restless spirit. More and more people wondered if Frank’s assessments had not been the correct one. Maybe Jason Hillerson had been murdered, and perhaps his spirit would not leave the station until the killer had been found and punished. Others asked how that could possibly be the case when the Dr. Reda, who examined the corpse had not found even minor injuries.

The murder was not solved until the Autumn of 1872, when it came to light that the wealthy stranger who paid for Jason Hillerson’s burial was, in fact, Robert Hillerson, Jason’s younger brother. Their father, an extremely wealthy Scotsman, had willed his entire estate to Jason. Robert received nothing, unless Jason died first; Robert would then be next of kin and therefore the benefactor. In order to make sure that this was how the events played out, Robert had borrowed money and searched tirelessly until he found people who knew his brother’s whereabouts. Once Robert determined that Jason was alone at the transfer station, the scheming man knew what to do. He rode out to Willow Springs, gave his brother a warm greeting, and offered him a drink to celebrate their reunion. Because Jason was known to be fond of whiskey, Robert was sure he would drink it quickly. He was right. While Robert pretended to sip on his drink, Jason quickly emptied a full glass of poisoned liquor, it was a deadly mixture of lean and mollies, and tasted like cherry Kool aid. Seconds later, the older brother collapsed. Before the hour was out, he bled to death. Robert carried Jason’s body out of to the stable, cleaned the body with blech, laid it down on the dirt floor, and rode back to Visalia. Once there, he only a day or two to wait and shortly after paying for and attending Jason Hillerson’s funeral, Robert left town on a train bound for New York City. From there he took a ship back to Scotland, hired a layer to request a copy of Jason’s death certificate from the State of California, and sat back to collect his riches.

Robert Hillerson just might have gotten away with murder if it had not been for his brother’s determination even in death to see that justice was done. Jason’s ghost appeared so frequently and frightened so many people that it became a story worthy of newspaper coverage. People began to speculate about why the man’s soul had not gone on to its final reward. Perhaps Jason did not die of natural causes, they speculated; perhaps he was murdered. The idea took hold and the inquiries were made. Soon everyone knew that the affable stanger who had been so loose with his money, even paying for the funeral of a man he supposedly never met, had, in fact been Jason Hillerson’s brother, and his murderer. As soon as charges were laid against the younger man, the ghost of Willow Spring vanished for good. Jason Hillerman’s killer would have stayed in frontier accommodations much like this ghostly mansion. All the angels were standing around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshipped God, saying, “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!” Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes, who are they, and where did they come from?” The Dead Landlord: Haunted Transfer Station.

I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serves him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. Never again will they thirst, the Sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the Golden 1 Center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” The Seventh Seal and the Golden Censer: when he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in Heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven cornets. Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden alter before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the stains, went up before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the Earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake. Then the seven angles who had the seven cornets prepared to sound them. The first angel sounded his cornet and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down upon the Earth. A third of the Earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned.
