Moderation in success is necessary to its ultimate advantage. Thomas said to him, Lord, how will I know the way and the truth and the life. God responded, I am the way to the truth. Therefore, it is important to take your religion seriously. Senior generations are not always the most successful, because they are afraid of accident and leave too little to chance, while the know-nothing, fear-nothing, has oftentimes been the secret of fortunate adventure, there are virtues which are their own reward, so there are vices which are amply their own punishment.

Virtue can slumber, even in the midst of misfortune. Virtue has its own rewards and vice its own punishment. Chastity is as great a virtue in a man as in a woman. Learning does not necessarily civilize, and…a man (may) remain a lettered barbarian. In the theater people, we may find a different vanity, prima donnas of both genders, and a disposition to assorted kinds of perverse behavior. We should not intimate that these manifestations of egotism—the vanity or condescension of the university, or the self-indulgences of life are the rule. The point is simply that the guardianship of the mysteries does not guarantee largeness of mind or gentleness of bearing. If those closest to the source of values often remain untouched, we may wonder what hope there is for ordinary men who approach the sacred fount only now and then. 311

If these ordinary men do not find truth or governance or benign influence, what else may they come upon? Consolation or comfort or support? Hardly, at least in any obvious or immediate sense, the tragedies record profound catastrophes in the World and in the self; though they do come to rest on a note of moral recovery, this has a slenderness in which there is no easy assurance about the general tenor of life. If all ends well, still has required some extraordinary ingenuity and good fortune to bring a chilly and selfish husband to the acceptance of his devoted wife.

One has to be morally and psychologically omniscient, and superhumanly astute in practical affairs, to prevent his Kingdom from falling into the moral depths opened up before us by the self-serving of these critics. The tardy abjuring of their feud is slender compensation for the injuries sustained when the pursuit of family honor recognized no bounds. Hence, one would be surprised to find a note of blessedness to come, or of an ever-present help in trouble. There is indeed a subtle balance of the forces of damnation and salvation, as in the Christian vision, but this unillusioned photograph of reality hardly afford the faithful the comforting sense of cosmic well-being sometimes apparently derived from religious experience.

Emptiness can be a very beneficial idea. Sometimes we must empty ourselves of everything in order to make room for something good and full to come in. Those who practice meditation know that one of its goals is to get rid of all extraneous thoughts and feelings, to make room for something new and Rich. In our present discussion, we extend this idea to mean that when we work, we should empty ourselves of the worries and concerns of the workaday World. If I go to work, whether a simple weekend morning or year-long assignment, I must want to forget the fatiguing responsibilities and cares of my work. According to Jewish thought, God created the World in six days, and rested on the seventh—now called the Sabbath.

Our English word sabbatical comes from that same root; it is used to refer to educational institutions practice of providing for teachers well-being and development by giving them a sabbatical, a year-long leave, once every seven years. A few corporations are beginning to give their employees similar extended periods of time off every few years, with partial or full pay, to provide times of full rest, recuperation, and recharging. We think these companies are wise. Even if the employees do nothing directly related to their work, during this time, they will grow. The individual will come back to work refreshed and renewed, and they will probably do better, more productive work, plus having a better feeling about working for a company that is concerned with its employees overall health.

Nothing renders the soul so callous and insensible as the searing brands of infamy and disgrace. A man without sensibility exhibits no sign of a soul. The contempt of life is not meritorious I itself; on the contrary, self-preservation is enjoined by the law of nature. Vision, the ability to see, is possibly the most important means of sensation-gathering available to any living being with optical sensors. We all have been impressed with stories of blind people who somehow manage not only to survive but succeed superbly. Success stories of men like Alec Templeton and Ray Charles and women like Helen Keller mystify those of us who can see fine and yet cannot even make their fingers work out Human Rights and The United States of America on a laptop. We know how panicky some people feel with the lights go out, how unsure some are when we walk into a dark room, or try to drive when heavy sun obscures the car windshield. If I say I cannot see the other side of the moon, you understand that we have here a problem in location and perspective. I cannot see the far side of that orbiting quartz crystal in the sky (and neither can you!) if I stay here on Earth because of the relative position of the two bodies. The problem has nothing to do with the quality of my vision.

The secret of the heart is its pressing love of self. Perception is the process of interpreting the information brought to the brain by the sense.  I cannot see you well because I have lost my glasses. That is something very different. That refers to something entirely different. The problem is that my eyes cannot function correctly without an assistant, which I am lacking at the moment. Localization of function means that the type of sensation you experience depends on the area of the brain that is activated. Some brain areas receive visual information; others get auditory information; still others receive taste, touch, and so forth. Know which brain areas are active would tell us, in general, what kinds of sensations you are feeling. Sensory localization may someday make it possible to artificially stimulate the brain to restore sight, hearing, or other senses. Researchers have already used a miniature television camera to send electrical signals to the visual cortex of the brains. It is fascinating to realize that experiences such as audio and visual take place in the brain, not in the eye or ear. Each sense organ is extremely important, and is the first critical link in a long chain of events that connects to the brain.

Much as many of you would like to think, everything you know, take it and throw it away. Sensory systems do not operate like cameras or tape recorders, sending back photos of the World. Rather, they collect, transduce, analyze, code, and transmit an unending flow of data to an active, information-hungry biocomputer. This fluid inflow on information is what we refer to as sensation. These organs are our link to reality. You need your psychological sensations to determine loudness, brightness, or taste.  Corneal ulcers and infection can adversely impact your perceptual features and cause damage to sensory coding. The eye’s receptor cells, which normally respond to light, are somewhat sensitive to pressure. The cornea is a clear membrane at the front of the eye. It protects the iris and the pupil and the lens.

However, sometimes your eyes may need a little attention. A corneal ulcer is an erosion or open sore in the outer layer of the cornea. It is often caused by an infection. Corneal ulcers can occur if you wear contact lenses for more than 16 hours a day, or if your eye is somehow damaged or infected. Corneal ulcers are most commonly caused by an infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi, or a parasite.  Acanthamoeba Keratitis can occur in contact lens users, especially in people who make their own homemade cleaning solutions. Fungal Keratitis can occur after corneal injury involving plant material or in people with a suppressed immune system. Stress may cause repeated attacks that trigger a harsh response to exposure to the sun, as stress impairs the immune system. Corneal ulcers or infections may also be caused by eyelids that do not close all the way, such as with Bell’s palsy. Or foreign bodies in the eye, scratches (abrasions) on the eye surface, severely dry eyes, severe allergic eye disease; various inflammatory disorders, and contact lenses wear, especially soft contact lenses worn overnight—may cause a corneal ulcer.

If you already suffer from Ulcerative Colitis, which is an inflammation of the small intestine, which can cause bleeding, you need to pay careful attention to your eyes. If you develop any issues, they can be remediated quickly and without worry. Even if you have perfect vision, please visit the optometrist every other year to ensure your eyes stay beautiful. No matter if you use them to see or just as decorations for your attractive face. Remember, all shapes, sizes and colors of eyes are perfect. Silence is the only Voice of our God (he does not have much to say).  I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him with your beautiful eyes.  And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You make ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of Truth. The World cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.

Storm Heading for California

Many people love the rain. Individuals who have pleasant houses get indoor enjoyments that they would never think of but for the rain. The rainiest nights, like the rainiest lives, are by no means the saddest. Americans has experienced serious droughts before the major drought that most of America, and especially California is experiencing. Years of scant rain, in America, is leading to the disappearance of the Sacramento River. As it stands, Sacramento, California is bracing for a record storm, it is supposed to be the strongest rainstorm we have experienced in 6 years, with wind gust of up to sixty miles per hour. We could see 2.5 inches of rain in this system. Do we never perceive our own foibles? It is happy we can find consolation in the follies of our neighbors.

This weather event is a major concern right now because the ground is saturated, and many of the leaves are falling off of the trees and collecting on roofs and in storm drains. If you have a Victorian, there is a partition on the roof that keeps the rain water from falling on you, as you walk up to the front door. The only problem with this design is it also allows for leaves to build up on the roof, which could also cause moisture to collect and could cause your roof to fail prematurely. To what purpose live we, if not to grow wiser, and to subdue our passions? So be sure to clean your roof, gutters and storm drain.

In the past few week, Los Angeles, California collected 2 billion gallons of water from the storm, which is good because this will keep South California from relying on water Northern California during the warm months. Nonetheless, for December of 2013, Sacramento only got about 1.25 inches of rain, and so far this year, December of 2014, Sacramento has gotten 4.65 inches of rain and about 2.5 inches more expected. Many of you may be thinking we are in the clear, as far as the drought is concerned, but we have only had 3 percent of the rain we need for the drought to be over.

Thankfully, we have the rain because, when Jerry Brown was Governor of California in the 1970s, the State dried out then, too. Sacramento, California used to be a major farming town, but the drought of the 70s caused the soil to dry out, lose nutrients, and blow away. There were dust storms, some were extraordinary. Several dust stormed collected topsoil from farms and a huge cloud of black smoke will fill the sky and mute the sun. Sacramento, California essentially became a dust bowl, and thousands of acres of farmland was ruined. Sincerity glows in the simple words of nature, it is not everyone who has your passion for dead leaves.

Collecting The Evidence

 

 

Some have spoken well of a pilgrim’s life at first that after a while have spoken as much against it. I have loved to her my Lord spoken of; and wherever I have seen the print of his shoe in the Earth, there I have coveted to set my foot too. You dare to insult God’s high priest? Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people. Dead emperors have very little delight in their monuments. Stop looking for happiness in the same place that you lost it. Simply put it, violent storm that originates in a tropical region and features extremely high winds—in excess of 74 miles per hour. It also brings drenching rains and has the ability to spin off tornadoes. It is almost always born in the tropical regions because ocean temperatures must measure above 80 degrees F. As it is not possible for any man to learn the art of memory, except he has a natural memory before: so is it not possible for any man to attain any great wit by travel, except he have the grounds of it rooted him before. We should not conclude that a man who strives earnestly for success does so with a strong sense of his own merit. He may see how little success has to do with merit, and his motive may be his very humility. The holiest among us has but attained so far above his fellows as to discern more clearly the Mercy which looks down, and repudiate more utterly the phantom of human merit which would look aspiringly upward. Poor, blind, conceited humanity! Interpreters of God, indeed! We reduce the Deity to vulgar fractions.

We measure infinity with a foot-rule. His emotional involvement in the question goes back to his childhood at Kalgoorlie, when he saw what he calls the poor dejected run-down abos and mixed-bloods on the goldfields, and concluded that no people should exist in such hopelessness and degradation. His novel, Snowball, published in 1958, has an aborigine for its central character, and constitutes a demand for justice for the aborigines, and he has written a play, The Hero Comes Home, based on some of the incidents in Snowball. The Film which Reuben Harris intends making from Randolph’s story could easily be the most devastating comment yet attempted, in terms calculated to reach a World audience, on the plight of the aborigines; the tentative title is The Flung Spear. The Australian economic recession of 1960-61 forced Harris to defer production of the film until better times should make money easier to get. He did not, however, think of abandoning it. Randolph was born in Kalgoorlie in 1907 and grew up there. In an article on his schooldays (Harris Research and Development, 18 January 1961) he has written: This town was big, vigorous and full of life, yet it was not a city that engulfed and limited one. It overflowed into the bush, and this was the real bush, not just a pattern of farms and roads. It was flat country, covered with low, grey scrub, perhaps dull to adult eyes, but fascinating to us.

It was full of romantically interesting things, shallow lakes that were often dry but sometimes filled with water and ducks, and rabbits to hunt, dams in which to swim, abandoned leases and workings on which to play dangerous but most satisfying games. We used to pedal many miles, hunting and camping getting punctures from the doublegees, cooking bits of meat and heating up the pies our mothers had made in the fettlers’ huts, seven miles along the trainline to Menzies. You could not get lost in that flat country, because except on the cloudiest of days (and there were seldom days which were cloudy at all) the great cloud of smoke and dust that hung over the big mines of the Golden Mile could be seen for miles. Just head for that, and you were right. His father died when he was ten and his mother when he was sixteen, and, after a State school of Mines education, he went to work as a cadet for the Kalgoorlie municipal electric light station. Looking back on himself at seventeen or eighteen, he knows he was a brash youth. His career in electricity ended one day when he checked his boss, who suspended him. Randolph said, “I will go for good, I am not proud of that episode. The boss was right, I was wrong.” He was not contrite then, however, and he caught a train to Perth and found a job selling motor cars and motor bikes. That was in the late 1920s, and motor salesmen were doing nicely. Randolph earned good money until the depression gained a firm hold about 1931. Then, jobless, he went back to Kalgoorlie, an took any work he could find. For a good while he worked in the mines—as a laborer, a blacksmith’s striker, and electrician’s offside. “At that time, I really began to see human beings as they are. The depression gave me a new set of values. As a kid, I would read The Magnet, The Gem, and Deeds That Won the Empire, and never questioned their philosophy.

“In the depression, I discovered how off-beam they were. I have never written anything substantial about the depression, and in spite of what some people say, I do not think my books are gloomy. However, I am a product of the depression, and if what I learned then were not reflected in y writings it would be astonishing.” Casting round for ways of making extra money, he got himself into motorcycle dirt-track racing, which was not then the big-money international sport it has since become. He persuaded the committee controlling the trotting ground to let the Goldfields Motorcycle Club organize a series of dirt-track carnivals, and rode in these on his unpaid-for motor bike. “I was so broke that I was more reckless than usual, and I won a fair amount of money.” He married in 1933, and about the same time a Perth Sunday newspaper, The Mirror, appointed him its Kalgoorlie representative. He had to sell advertising space, as well as write a weekly page of goldfield news. He liked to work. He particularly liked reporting the Kalgoorlie riots in 1934. These were the culmination of racial clashes between Australians and foreigners, and Casey says those days were pretty wild. Then the racial enmities simmered down, and the riots stopped.

The outdoor entertainment season was ending about the same time, so Randolph, seeing little ahead of him in Kalgoorlie, decided to write stories which were to make him an Australia-wide reputation within a few years. His first story ever to be printed appeared in The Australian Journal in 1936. It was a piece of slapstick comedy, set on the goldfields, and its title was Collecting The Evidence. He wrote more stories and began selling them to The Bulletin; in successive years he won The Bullentin prize for a short story of any kind with Mail Run East. Randolph had nothing against the motor car selling, but when he saw a chance to enter journalism, he too it. For a time he edited a group of Perth magazines, then went to The Daily News as a general reporter and features writer. He was called up in 1942, and did a sequence of army jobs in which, he felt; he was not contributing much to the enemy’s defeat. So he had no regrets when, in 1943, he became a civilian again. After a spell as State publicity censor, he was sent to the Pacific as a Department of Information writer. “I got closer to the war then, than I ever had as a soldier.” He kept on writing throughout the was whenever he had spare time, and in 1942 published his first book of short stories, It’s Harder for Girls, which won the S.H. Prior Memorial Prize and in 1943 a second, Birds of a Father. His first novel, Downhill is Easier, came out in 1946. Like most of Randolph’s work, these three books were largely based on his observations in the Kalgoorlie region.

 After the war he had two and a half years running the Australian News and Information Bureau in New York then six months in London. He did little creative writing while overseas, but added something to his experience of life. One of his jobs was to get articles about Australia printed in overseas newspapers and magazines, and he once offered an Australian writer’s article on two-up to the U.S. magazine True. The editor of True said he liked the article but not the photographs. “Leave it to me,” Randolph said. He recruited twenty or thirty Australians from the Anzac Club, New York, and led them to Central Park, in the heart of New York City. There he marshaled them round a spinner with two Australian pennies poised on a kip made from a wooden ruler, and got as good a series of two-up pictures as were every taken. It looked like the biggest two-up school outside Broken Hill,” he said. The article, duly illustrated, was published in True, and seen by hundreds of thousands of Americans. Randolph enjoyed his years abroad, even—perhaps particularly—the crises, such as one which occurred when a recording of a talk between Frank Forde, then Minister for the Army, and Arthur Calwell, then Minister for information, did not arrive in time to be broadcast, as arranged, over one of the largest U.S. radio networks on Australia Day, 1946. The broadcast took place, however; for the occasion, Randolph was Calwell and another member of his staff, Lloyd Clarke, was Forde, and millions of American listeners were none the wiser. Calwell laughed louder than anyone did when Casey later confessed the deception to him.

 Back in Australia, Randolph had two years in Canberra, then six years in Sydney, working at a variety of journalistic jobs, and he went back to Perth probably because, like many Western Australians, he relishes the tempo of life there. He has one son by his second wife, who is an American; one was born in London in 1948. He does not appear to be troubled by this reminder that time is mounting against him. For some years, ill-health cut his literary production to practically nothing, but his later output of creative work indicates that he is by no means written out. This is reassuring, for it cannot be pretended that, as year followed year and he produced nothing but an occasional short story, and certainly nothing resembling the novel of lasting worth so long expected of him, even his staunchest admires did not begin to doubt. To put it bluntly, they wondered if he had found the loneliness of the novelist’s calling too much for him, and could not bring himself to stay long enough with any book tp pump it full of the creative magic that is in him; they also wondered if, for all the distinction of his best work, he had every truly discovered himself as a writer for the printed page and would perhaps, on the evidence of reports about the brilliance of his script for Reuben Harris, be remembered (if he was remembered at all) chiefly as a writer, not of books but for the modern medium of films. Australia has had competent film writers, on a commercial level, but never a man whose stories have been both technically and artistically in Worldclass, and it seemed possible that Randolph Harris could prove to be that man. This still seems possible, and it is likely to be proved or disproved only when the flung Spear has been made. However, it is the rebirth of Randolph Harris the novelist, with Amid the Plenty, that really matters. A film has to be the product of many hands, a kind of multiple collaboration, and Randolph could stamp any film only with so much of his own mind and his own personality. To fulfill himself as a writer he must go it alone, and that is what he is doing now.

 

Urban Expansion: Merits but Aggravate Fault

 

 

Sudden transitions are apt to make the mind giddy. Perhaps you are thumping that Bible a little too loudly. Center of Praise Ministries is a Christian city Church located in a primarily residential Victorian neighborhood, which as thankfully been mostly untouched by time. The church is located at 1228 23rd Street, Sacramento, California 95816; however, the church does not really fit in with the neighborhood. The style of the church is an economical Mexican rendition of Greek architecture, and many of the homes are of the Victorian style or Greek. Not only that, but home owners have been complaining about ghastly sounds coming from the church some have even gone as far to say they have seen shadowy figures of old sea captains in the street with guns. And one homeowner heard shouting and screaming coming from the lower floors of her house, every Sunday morning and sometimes in the evening, thinking it was haunted, she put the home on the market and it is not selling because buyers are concerned about the traffic coming from the church. It turns out there are no ghost, and no sea captains with guns. The screaming and howling is coming from the church, they are worshipping their God and they perform some kind of role playing and theater to convey their faith. The sea captains are simply crossing guards with glow sticks, helping defenseless people cross the dark streets. And the howling in the house is coming from the church, many homeowners have also complained about the noise and vibrations from the Center of Praise and would like to see them quiet down and stay on their side of the street, diversify their following, but most homeowners want to see the church torn down and a rose garden on the land, so they can have their peaceful neighborhood back.

 The homeowners are not racist, but want their voices to be heard also. Many European Americans feel like if they speak up about anything that people will get upset and call them racist, but they have some valid concerns also. Center of Praise and Capitol Terrace is attracting a lot of attention because within the past five years, there has been a huge increase of African Americans in the neighborhood, but they do not work here, do not frequent the restaurants, nor interact with the other residence.  The African Americans all tend to stick together and when you see them there are in huge groups and making a lot of noise. They are disrespectful of their elders and those who look different from them, and this leads many to wonder what is going on in their community? Neither group tried to prevent crimes or discover offenses. Neither wore uniforms. Certainly, neither was able to prevent a tumult. Each chaotic event made the London Model more attractive. The social and economic changes transforming the neighborhood have produced urban violence on a scale never before witnessed in this community. The neighbors have even reported festering ethnic and racial tensions often triggered by mob actions that have lasted for days (block parties). The night watch lit city streetlights and patrolled the streets to preserve order and arrest suspicious characters—not matter what they looked like. During the day, constables investigated health hazards, carried out court orders, and apprehended criminals against whom complaints had been logged. 

Racial tensions contributed to Midtown inhabitants disorders. An unsavory riot in August of 2014 revealed other important sources of social antagonism as well as the inability of its police force to control disorder. One hot August evening, a crowd of 10 to 15 people were engaged in the conflict, with clubs, brickbats, paving stones, and other materials, when an orgy of destruction, looting and intimidation of White residences broke out. Similar mayhem followed on the next two nights. Intermittent rioting broke out the succeeding night as well, but the presence of the police and fire department prevented the violence from reaching the pitch of the previous nights. An investigation following the block party (riots) revealed that the black mob has caused at least $4,000.00 of damage to two churches and more than 36 private houses. There were also reports of one black man being killed and numerous others had been injured. As one shocked eyewitness reported, “The mod exhibited more than fiendish brutality, beating, and mutilation some of the old, confiding and unoffending Blacks with a savageness surpassing anything we could have believed men capable of.”

 Many of the rioters bragged that they were hunting “Whigs.” Riots, however, are complicated events, and this racial explanation does not reveal the range of causes underlying the rampage of violence and destruction. The rioters were young and generally of low social standing. Many were Black. Some had criminal records. A number of those arrested, however, were from a class of mechanics of whom better things are expected. No professional people or businessmen seem to have been involved. Accompanying the rioters, however, were onlookers who instigated the mob. As one witness reported, these onlookers countenanced the operations of the mob and in one or two instances coincided with their conduct by clapping. The rioters revealed that in the event of an attack by the city police, they confidently counted on the assistance of the bystanders, from a nearby facility, adjacent to the church. The mob’s composition hints at some of the reasons for participation. Many of the rioters were at the lower echelon of the occupational and economic ladder and competed with teenagers for work. This was particularly true of the newly arrived Black immigrants, who were attempting to replace Whites and their offspring in low-status jobs. Subsequently, economic jealously by Blacks suggested that economic rivalry was an important component of the riot. Residences responded by saying, the dimly colored persons, when engaged in their usual vocations are repeatedly interested in segregation and hooliganism. Parties of White men have insisted that no Blacks shall be employed in certain departments and that White youth are being discriminated against because Black people are taking up all the resources for low income people. If Blacks threatened the dream of advancement of some Whites, this was not quite the complaint of the skilled workers. These men were more likely to have experienced the negative impact of a changing economic system that was undermining the small-scale model of production.

 The dream of a more better life seemed increasingly illusory as their declining wages  drew them closer to unskilled workers than to the middle class. Like the Blacks, Whites were living in one of the poorest and most crowded parts of the city, and the Blacks were not kind to them. However, the real intangible villain was the economic system itself, has absolutely nothing to do with equality and mutual respect. Urban expansions also figured as a factor in the racial violence. Most of the Blacks originally lived near by the riot area or in another city. All had experienced overcrowded and inadequate living conditions caused by the city’s rapid growth. The racial tensions generated by special interest groups and squalid surroundings and social proximity go far to explain the outbreak of violence. The same area would later become the scene of race riots and election trouble and is infamous for harboring criminals and juvenile gangs. The absence of middle-or upper-class participants, from the church and their nearby friend, did not mean that these groups were untroubled during times of growth and change, but their material circumstances cushioned them from some of the more unsettling forces. The city’s police force proved unable to control the mob, thus prolonging the violence. However, the city of Sacramento is in the midst of creating its police force. In 2014, the police force had been cut by 200 people. A small number of new officers have been added to the constable-and-watch system. The new force is supposed to infiltrate the church and the building, deter crime by walking the city streets. However, the force’s small size rendered it powerless in the face of the angry mob. Only continued rowdiness, violence, and riots will eventually convince residents and city officials in Sacramento (and in other large cities) to support an expanded, quasi-military, preventive, and uniformed police force.

 Finally, the character of the Black community itself was a factor in producing those gruesome August events. Not only was the community large and visible, but it also had created its own institutions and its own elite.  These Blacks, however, resented dressy Whites and dandy coloured beaux and belles returning from their proper churches. The Black mob vents its rage against White affluence by targeting the solid brick houses of the middle-class Whites and robbing them of silver and watches. White wealth threatened the notion of the proper social order held by many Blacks in this urban expansion and seemed unspeakable when Blacks could not afford life’s basic necessities or lacked jobs. Research indicates 60 to 72 percent of the African Americans in this neighborhood are unemployed and immigrated to this area within the last three years. The Whites report they have no problem with the Blacks, but wish they would cement themselves in the economic system by working to get ahead. They also report that there is segregation, in this neighborhood, because Blacks are collectively participating in urban expansions, where Blacks pay less to live in White communities, and White people pay more. All of the below market rate housing seems to go to the poor Blacks who are members of the church. Less than 14 percent of that building is made up of low income Whites, and the White youth also need help and to be respected. What man has ever felt that all his thinking powers were absorbed, even by the most poignant metal misery that could occupy them? In moments of imminent dangers, the mind can still travel of its own accord over the last in spite of the present—in moments of bitter affliction, it can still recur to everyday trifles in spite of ourselves.

 

 

 

Words of Comfort for a Discouraged Housekeeper: Male or Female

Women are creatures brimful of courage. Theirs is not exactly the same quality as manly courage; that would never do, hang it all: we should have to give up trampling on them. No; it is a vicarious courage. Nothing can exceed the resolution with which they have been known to send forth men to battle; as some witty dogs says, “Les femmes sont tres braves avec le peau d’autrui.” It is given to very few men to meet good women on the threshold. We find them after hard buffeting, and usually we find the one fitted for us, when our madness has mis-shaped our destiny, our lot is cast. For women are not the end, but the means of life. Sex refers to our biological maleness of femaleness. There is a biological sex and a genetic sex, which is determined by our sex chromosomes, and anatomical sex, the obvious physical differences between males and females. Gender is a concept that encompasses the special psychosocial meanings added to biological maleness or femaleness.

Thus, while our sex is linked to various physical attributes (chromosomes, penis or vulva, and chest or breast, and so on), our gender refers to the psychological and sociocultural characteristics associated with our sex—or in other words, ones masculinity or femininity. The terms masculinity and femininity are used to characterize the behaviors that are typically attributed to males and females. One undesirable aspect of these labels is that they may limit the range of behaviors that people are comfortable with expressing. For example, a man might hesitate to be let a female be the sole support of the household as he might be labeled as feminine, and a woman might be reticent to act assertively and get a crew cut hair style for fear of being considered masculine. It is not our intention to perpetuate the stereotypes often associated with being a man or a woman. However, we find it necessary to use these terms when discussing gender issues, so we do not have a race of babies that hate the ladies, who make the babies. Nonetheless, without man planting a seed, there would be no life. Women are born the accomplices of mischief. For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

Young men take joy in nothing so much as the thinking women angels: and nothing sours men of experience more than knowing that all are not quite so. There is something about a fine man on his knees that is too much for women. If any single thesis could be said to constitute the doctrine of existentialism, it would be that the possibility of choice is the central fact of human nature. Even the thesis that existence precedes essence often means no more than that men do not have fixed natures that limit or determine their choices, but rather it is their choices that bring whatever nature they have into being. When we meet people for the very first time, many individuals quickly note their sex and make assumptions based on their maleness or femaleness about how they are likely to behave: These are gender assumptions. For most people, gender assumptions are an important part of routine social interaction. We identify people as being either the same sex as ourselves or the other sex. (We avoid terms like opposite sex because we believe it overstates the differences between males and females.)

Many of us find it hard to interact with a person whose gender is ambiguous. When we are unsure of our identification of someone’s gender, we may become confused and uncomfortable. I think girls are very like boys. I am beginning to think that the subsequent immense distinction is less one of sex than education. They are drilled into hypocrites. A girl so like a boy was not quite his ideal of a girl. She is very clever, too clever for a woman. She lacks the indefinable charm of weakness. It is the feet of clay that make the gold of the image precious. Her feet are very pretty, but they are not feet of clay. White porcelain feet, if you like; they have been through the fire, and what fire does not destroy, it hardens. There is nothing more displeasing to a man of sense than to see his wife make no difference between matters of the greatest moment, and those of no moment at all.

When a good lady in the same tone of voice, and with equal concern, inquires after her husband’s health, and how a spot came upon the floor, the consequences is natural that he thinks a spot upon the floor affect her as much as his own health. The first is that choice is ubiquitous. All ones actions imply choices. Even when you do not choose explicitly, as some may not do in the majority of cases, my action bears witness to an implicit choice. Gender identity refers to each individual’s subjective sense of being male or female. Most of us realize in the first few years of life that we are either male or female. However, there is no guarantee that a person’s gender identity will be consistent with his or her biological sex, and some people experience considerable confusion in their efforts to identify their own maleness or femaleness.

The second contention is that although in many of my actions my choices are governed by criteria, the criteria which I employ are themselves chosen, and there are no rational grounds for such choices. The third is that no causal explanation of my actions can be given. A man of any fashion never blushes for his wife, whatever she may be. For his mistress, indeed, he may blush: for if there are any small failings there, his taste may be called in question. Gender role (sometimes called sex role) refers to a collection of attitudes and behaviors that are considered normal and appropriate in a specific culture for people of a particular sex. Gender roles are established sex-related behavioral expectations that people are expected to fulfill. However, I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. The woman is supposed to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. When we use the terms masculine and feminine in subsequent discussion, we are referring to those socialized nations.

The history of mankind is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations on the part of man toward woman, having in direct object the establishment of tyranny over her. Some of our social perceptions actually cause people to act in certain ways. Many women play a submissive, domesticated, naïve part because they know their husbands expect it. Or they may be afraid to be independent because they think they need husbands for support. So, gritting their teeth, they swallow their more liberated tendencies and play Donna Reed. What gentleman will bear with a learned wife? Besides being culturally based, our notions of masculinity and feminist are also dependent on the era in which they occur. For instance, if an American father in the 1950s had not raised his children, and ran off to live his own life, while his wife traveled on business, his behavior would probably have raised eyebrows, if not engendered ridicule.

It is better for a man to be at home with his children than to have a home without a father. Staying together for the children’s sake may be a good thing. Children from two-parent families are better off emotionally, socially, and economically. They are also 50 percent less likely to experience teenage pregnancy, sexual exploitation, sexually transmitted viruses or disease, and will more than likely stay out of trouble and are 74 percent more likely to graduate high school. Senator Sam Brownback, a Republican from Kanas, actually wanted to create a bill that would allow married couples with children to get a marriage bonus of up to $9,000.00 a year. In delicate minds, love is seldom the consequence of marriage. If people married for affection, there would be no such thing as gallantry at all. More than any other time in our history, the present era is marked by redefinition of male and female roles. Many of us who have grown up subjected to strong gender-role condition are now exploring how these roles have shaped our lives and are seeking to break away from their limiting influences. Being part of this change can be both exciting and confusing.

The struggle for women’s rights was revitalized in 1890 when the National and American Woman Suffrage Associations merged. They sought a wide variety of expanded rights for women, its task was greatly facilitated by the proliferation of women’s groups that emerged during the Progressive era. With increased industrialization, for the very first time, women had the opportunity to purse actives other than those centered on the home. Women worked for improved sanitation, public morals, education, and the like.  Substantial houses fronting the main streets concealed the worst urban housing, which was in back alleys or even backyards. Many visitors did not even realize slums lay behind the rows of brick housing, nor did they know of the uncollected garbage, privy runoffs, and fetid decay in the dark unpaved alleys.

Mrs. Paris and I went to the lowest part of the City to see some poor persons who had called upon us for Charity. We found one woman, with two children, and expecting soon to be confined, living in a cellar, part of the floor in the cellar was dirt and rocks, and exhibited much wretchedness; but it was tolerably clean. She was a teen bride and her husband had beat up, broken her legs and sent her to the hospital. When she returned home the keys to her house had been changed and a woman threw malt liquor in her face and told her to get lost; her husband occasionally worked. They were not poor, but he refused to support his wife and children any longer, even when he was employed, because he felt that he lost much of his authority and power in the family. Some found their wives no longer subservient or seemingly careless with their hard-earned money. One woman angered her husband by failing to give a clear account of what she had done with the grocery money. He said if she did not give him a full account…he would kill her or something like that. The squabbles over grocery money ended in murder. This family was an extreme case, but family violence that spilled out onto the streets was not uncommon in working-class quarters.

Although some ventured into the World of the working class, their life could not have been more different. Members of the new middle class, like ones father, profited from the dramatic increase in wealth in antebellum America. They lived in pleasantly furnished houses in the mountains, enjoying more peace, more privacy, and more comfort than the less affluent. Franklin stoves gave warmth in the Winter, and iron cookstoves made cooking easier. Conveniences like Astral lamps made it possible to read after dark. Bathing stands and bowls ensured higher standards of cleanliness. Rugs muffled sounds and kept the heat in. Material circumstances were one badge of middle-class status, but there were others as well. The acceptance of certain norms and values also identified a person s member of the new middle class. Genteel behavior and the careful observance of elaborate rules of etiquette ( a gentleman was expected to back out of a parlor after making a call upon a lady) the appropriate clothes and conversation, an elegantly furnished parlor for the for the entertainment of visitors—all served to establish the standing of the members of a middle-class family.

New expectations about the roles of men and women, prompted partly by economic change, also shaped the middle-class life. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the labor of men and women, adults and children, all contributed to the family’s economic welfare. However, improved transportation, new products, and the rise of factory production and large businesses changed the family economy. Falling prices for processed and manufactured goods made in America, like soap, light bulbs, clothing, and even bread made it necessary for women, except on the frontier, to continue making these items at home. As men increasingly involved themselves in a money economy, whether through commerce or market farming, women’s and children’s contributions to the family welfare became relatively less significant. Although middle-class women and children still worked in their homes as their husbands left to bring home the bacon, they often neither produced vital goods nor earned money. Even the rhythm of their lives, oriented to housework rather than the demands of the clock, separated them from the bustling commercial World where their husbands now labored. By the 1820, the notion that gender roles occupied separate spheres emerged to express the new reality. Men’s sphere was the public World, whereas women’s was the domestic.

Many of us who have grown up subjected to strong gender-role conditioning are now exploring how these roles have shaped our lives and are seeking to turn their attention to the processes whereby we acquire our gender identity. Certainly gender identity usually—but not always—comes with the territory of having certain biological parts; however, there is more to it than simply looking like man or a woman. The variety of interpretations suggests that perhaps different experiences are being discussed or that the ratio of interpretation to experience may be too high. However, on the extreme and exceptional experience is common to all existentialism. Everyday experiences, by contrast, are thought of as conventionalized, predigested aid to complacency, conformity, and self- deception.

Since the existentialist writer acknowledges the sovereignty of individual choice and the important of the concrete situation, he cannot address himself to his audience in the manner of traditional philosophy, for the readers has to make one’s own choices in the light of his or her own experiences. Argument will be powerless unless the reader chooses to agree with the author’s premises. If you choose this starting point, then that logically follows that men were charged with the task of financial support, a responsibility was a heavy one in changing economy. Women’s duties included working at home, not as producer, but as housekeeper. The role of housekeeper had both pleasure and frustration built into it. Believing that women were innately pious, virtuous, unselfish, and modest (all characteristics that men lacked).

By training future citizens and workers to be obedient, moral, patriotic, and hardworking, mothers ensured the welfare of the republic. Just as important, they preserved important values in a time of rapid change. Because men had none of women’s virtues and were daily caught up in the face-paced World of business, wives were responsible for helping husbands cope with temptations and tensions. A wife was, in words of one preacher, the guardian angel who watches over her husband’s interests, warms him against dangers, comforts him under trial; and by…pious, assiduous, and attractive deportment, constantly endeavors to render him more virtuous, more useful, more honorable, and happier. As a boy, sometimes you have to let the girl win. However, with other boys’ fair competition is more better. Whatever conveys the idea of subjection necessarily destroys that of love, of which I am so convinced, that I have always wished the word OBEY expunged from the marriage ceremony. This view characterizing women as morally superior to and different from men, had important consequences for female life. Women by ill temper make husbands pay dear for their fidelity. Marrying a man one dislikes is the most deliberate and shameful degree of vice of which the human mind is capable. Because women thought they had a unique nature and because their husbands spent much of their time away from home working friendships with other women often became central. Women felt that they shared more with one another than with men, even their husbands. Similar social experiences and perspectives made female friendships a source of comfort, security and happiness. If the course of true love never runs smooth, the course of true matchmaking sometimes does so.

Although the concept of domesticity seemed to confine women to their homes and to emphasize the private nature of family life, it actually prompted women to take on activities in the outside World. If women were the guardians of morality, why should they not carry out their tasks in the public sphere? God’s appointed agent of morality—such reasoning lay behind the tremendous growth of voluntary female associations in the early decades of the nineteenth century. Initially, most involved religious and charitable activities. Women supported orphanages, paid for and distributed religious tracts and Bibles, established Saturday and Sunday schools, and ministered to the poor. The associations provided women with congenial companions and suitable tasks for their moral character.  Female domestic behavior was encouraged. Domestic ideals helped many women make psychological sense of their lives. The new norms, effectively spread by the publishing industry, influenced rural and urban working women. The insistence on marriage and service to family discouraged married women from entering the work force. Those who had to work often bore a burden of guilt. Many took in poorly paid piecework so that they could remain at home. Though the new feminine ideal may have seemed noble to middle-class women in cities and towns, it created difficult tensions in the lives of working-class women, working class children still worked or scavenged for goods to sell or use at home, but middle-class children were no longer expected to contribute economically to the family. Middle-class parents now came to see childhood as a special stage of life, a period of preparation for adulthood.

In a child’s early years, mothers were to impart important values, including the necessity of behaving in accordance with gender prescriptions. Girls were to be kind, smart, play with dolls, wear pink, have shoulder length or long hair, sit with their legs closed and talk a lot. Conversely, boys were supposed to be strong, happy smart, read books, play with trucks, wear blue, and have neat hair and love sports. Harsh punishments lost favor. Affection can govern the human with a sway more powerful than the authority of reason or even the voices of conscience. Schooling also prepared a child for the future, and urban middle-class parents supported the public-school movement. Children’s fiction, which poured off the printing press, also socialized children. Stories pictures modest youngsters happily making the correct choices of playmates and activities, obeying their parents, and being dutiful, religious, loving, and industrious; however, occasionally, as The Child at Home (1833) or Home Alone (1990), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2004) The Originals (2014) the audience could discover the horrible consequences of wrongdoing. Celibacy is popery and hell in perfection. It is the doctrine of devils, and a war with the Almighty. This is recognized of the impulses behind existentialism seems to be dissatisfaction with the kind of nineteenth-century materialism which held that if human actions can be causally explained, then determinism is true in a sense that excludes the possibility of human agents’ being responsible and free. However, instead of denying that causal explanation entails this kind of determinism, the existentialist takes the unnecessary stop of denying the probability of causal explanations of human action.

Governance and wealth in the United States of America has always been interconnected. The Lord, one’s God, will put all these curses on one’s enemies, who hate and persecute one. One will again obey God and follow all his commands I am giving one today. Then God will make you most prosperous everything you do with love, honor and respect, you will have the energy and vitality of a child. God will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your fathers, if you obey your God and keep his commands and rules that are written in this Book of Law and turn to God with all your heart and with all your soul. Traditionally, economic policies were formulated with pragmatic goals in mind, such as assuring steady growth, low unemployment, decent wages, adequate incentives, and price stability.  You are going to rest with your fathers, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them. On that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters come upon them, and on that day they will ask, “Have not these disasters come upon us because God is not with us? Remember the days of history; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.  Government activities in the areas of ensuring order, protecting private and public property, enforcing contracts, providing a stable monetary system, maintaining a social safety net, granting corporate charters, and issuing patents all contributed to the growth and vibrancy of the American economy. When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples according to the number of sons of Israel. For God’s portion in his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance. In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. A large middle class is typically associated with political stability and regime legitimacy. However, just like troubled Democratic Senators of California:  Leland Yee, Roderick Wright, Tom Calderon and Ron Calderon grew fat and kicked, so have many illegal immigrants from Mexico; filled with food, they have become heavy and sleek. Some people leave you feeling like you wish you had never met them. Every one of us has come into contact with people that we have tried to build a relationship with. These relationships can be business, social, financial or personal. However, when you are always supportive of a person and they do nothing but act like an ungrateful child, speak without thinking and ignore your projects or idea, then you need to let that type of person go. It is amazing that these types of individuals cannot name one thing they love in life, but wake up every day with a long list of complaints and insults. These types of people are known as conflict habitual. Conflict habitual suffers do not find solutions in life, they create conflict to assert their dominance, and they use these same tactics with everyone they met. These people typically have low self-esteem, but cover it up by trying to seem like an authority on everything. They blame others for their problems, cannot manage their emotions and have extreme behaviors. For example, to spite someone they are upset with, they will do things like drive to Mexico for a movie just to prove they are in control of their lives.

Conflict habitual individuals refuse to analyze situations, they act based on their emotions. They might decide to put down your work because you are not paying enough attention to them.  Conflict habitual individuals get very emotional about their point of view and if you challenge their perspective, they will show fear, anger, yelling or disrespect for the person who is challenging their way of thinking. These people usually cannot control their emotions, but defend them. Later on, they may feel guilty, but they will never admit it. Conflict habitual individuals also like to manipulate others to hurt them, they say and do things to hurt others, which pushes people away from them, and they seem to be unaware of their emotional impact on others. People with conflict habitual may be sociopaths and are unable to understand emotions, so they do not have them. Sociopaths mimic human emotions because they are disconnected. They feel like their lives will end if things do not go their way. They never see any fault in their own actions. On the Internet, they can be anonymous and make the most of their megalomania.

Conflict habitual like to blame others because it makes them feel good on a conscious and unconscious level and it makes them feel strong and superior. In reality conflict habitual are actually unhappy and upset, they are basically blind. They lack self-awareness. Their emotions and reality do not mesh well. They even try to get others in their gang to support their perspectives and tear others down who do not. It is best to ignore these types of people. They usually like to target people who are close to them because they know you will put up with it for a while and that they can feed off of your energy, until you get fed up with them. Conflict habitual are so extreme and aggressive and they need help to relax and learn to respect others. Conflict habitual are always looking for people to support their views so they will not have to address their behavior, they can gang up with their team and attack others. These people need to learn how to love and listen, but do not get caught up in their drama. They are jealous and might try to take it out on you by lashing out at you.

I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.  For a fire has been kindled by my wrath, one that burns to the realm of death below–it will devour the Earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains. Declines in the number of Americans who consider themselves middle class bear enlargement of the size and scope of the public sector. Although the U.S. economic system is a mixed free-enterprise system characterized by the private ownership of property, private enterprise, and marketplace competition, governments in the United States have always been deeply involved in the economy. Foreign nations are nations without sense; there is no discernment in them. There is no one like you, you are a good person, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears, God is an American and everyone wants to be Americans and live in America. On the whole, the state governments were capable of dealing adequately with the small-scale and mostly agrarian economy of early nineteenth-century America. The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. So God only owned his son’s soul, which he used to purchase Earth from the devil. For God so loved the World that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the World to condemn the Word, but to save the World through him.  Once again, the kingdom of Heaven is a castle made by God for all varieties of good people.  When it is full, the gates will close. The good people will be collected and the bad people will be thrown away. Beyond that, individuals should be left free to pursue their self-interest. In doing so, people will be guided by an unseen hand to promote public well-being—that is, to provide consumers with a sufficient quantity of goods at reasonable prices. The Thirteenth Amendment of the United State Constitution, in 1865, was the first of the three Civil War Amendments. It banned all forms of slavery and involuntary servitude. And to think, some are breaking into this country and demanded rights they did not earn. Amendment XIII also states that no one will be punished of a crime nor involuntary servitude, except by punishment for a crime, and Congress has the power to enforce this law. Also, Amendment XIV reports that all persons born or naturalized in the United States of American, is subject to follow all rules and regulations, where they live. The State is not allowed to make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States of America; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the law. So if the State of California will not allow the police to protect you, they are violating your Constitutional rights.

We found this man subverting our nation, he opposes payment of taxes to Caesar Chavez and claims to be Christ, a King.” The critics of God proclaimed that God’s son was waking up people all over the city with his teachings and they wanted to silence him so the World could lose hope and fall into doom and gloom. How much better it is to be useful than rich or fine; how much more amiable to be good than to be great; the greatest merit any person could have is to be good and useful. About 10 million lives are saved each year by police, highway patrol and our armed services. So while you are young, it is important to work, buy a house and car, pay off debt and save up so you are debt free by the time you reach retirement. Some pessimism exists today about the future of Social Security and whether there will be sufficient funds to support the people who are currently retired, so we need to make sure our tax money is being properly spent, not on education, but to fund your Social Security retirement. Instead of having a 401K and IRA, it may be more reasonable to pay higher taxes toward Social Security, as that money will stay in America, it will be reinvested into our people, and fund your retirement, while creating new jobs. As elders become more physically frail, they are less likely to stand up for themselves to hooliganism or fight back if being attacked. Official crime statistics indicate that people that are over the age of 65 are less likely to be victimized by crime, yet older people express greater fear of crime than people in other age categories. From time to time we hear shocking reports of abuse of the elderly. Huston, Texas, 21 June 2013, a 74 year old man was found dead in his home, with blunt force trauma to the head. Celestino S. Flores, was found dead, in his home, in southeast Huston. Erick Eduardo Hernandez, age 18, and Gragary Thomas Flores, the grandson of the victim, are charged with capital murder. And a third suspect has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on the same charge.  Investigations shows that the door, at the residence, had been forced open, and several items stolen, including a green 2003 Ford Explorer.

In the past, elder abuse was primarily associated with isolated cases of mistreatment of residents in nursing homes, by unscrupulous and uncaring staff, who would steal their money, jewelry and other valuables like televisions sets, DVD players, and Christmas gifts. It is estimated that over 500,000 elderly people have been physically abused by their children. The most known cause of elderly abuse occurred 1892, when Lizzie Borden was arrested for the axe murders of her father and mother. On 4 August 1892, the parents of Lizzie Borden were found dead. When your children have mental issues and economic times are hard, you could become a victim. Reported cases in elder abuse have increased in almost every state.  Elder abuse tends to take place where seniors live: most often in the home where the abusers are often adult children, other family members or in-laws, grandchildren, or spouses or partners of the antique person. Bruises, lacerations, and broken bones can be attributed to falls and accidents, and even if victims complain of maltreatment their accusations may be attributed to senility, the influence of medication or other discrediting factors. Whereas with children, school officials, social workers, medical personnel, and others legally required to report suspected child abuse, there is no such protection for the senior citizens. They way to tell if a senior is being abused is if they tell you as much, you see injuries, damaged property, missing money, or their personality changes.  The transplanting of mature people is like the transplanting of historic trees; a twelvemonth usually sees them wither and die away.

Many people believe that jealousy is normal and that everyone is jealous, but that is not the case. Mrs. Beverly Mahone, says that “the problem with the World is people have gone from loving people and using things, to using people and loving things.” Jealousy is an aversive emotional reaction evoked by real or imagined relationships where others seem to have more and better possession, or one is perceived to be favored by an individual or authority figure.  Some people also think that jealousy is a part of love, and it shows how strong an individual’s love for you is, but that is not the case. Several psychologists believe that jealousy is actually the result of someone’s pride being hurt, or it develops because a person is insecure and afraid of losing someone or something they want to control and possess.  For instance, a person who finds that someone they think highly of enjoys spending time with someone else might start feeling inadequate, which produces jealousy.  Or, perhaps your best friend got a BMW for his birthday, and you wanted one, but could not afford it at the time, this may cause you friend to feel insignificant.  People can also be jealousy of traits.

If you are a social and smart person, another person might want that quality, but it is not in them, so they will develop intense feelings of envy.  They may start to ignore you, talk about you behind your back or try to embarrass you. People who are happy with their lives and give whatever they are working on all of their attention are more likely not to experience jealousy. In contrast, a person who has low-self-esteem is more likely to be jealous of others.  Jealousy is an uncomfortable feeling that can often be felt by others, even if one does not say a word.  Jealousy is dangerous because it can destroy a relationship. Sometimes people who are jealousy of you really do care about you, but it is so hard for them to retain their envy, that they may not want to spend time with you because it devalues their opinions of themselves.  Jealousy can make a person feel angry, depressed, and less attractive.  They only way for people to deal with their jealousy is by working harder to get what they want, or going to therapy so they can learn to scale these feelings back.

It is no secret that fall is the time to head to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, where you will find a mosaic tile of natural deciduous trees like the red maple, sugar maple, white oak, and tulip polar trees, and you will see an autumn cascade in the Little River Canyon. Nature, as we ordinarily use the term, means the order of physical existence which forms our environment, the objective or external aspect of our own lives, the World of animals and plants and minerals, surrounded with the sea and sky. Nature means this, and is supposed to be majestic and beautiful. The most important imaginative impact that physical nature has on us is a sense of alienation. Nature feels intelligent, moral, and peaceful. It is natural for humans to also be moral, civilized, and socially disciplined; it is unnatural to live like animals. Humans are supposed to possess innocence, chastity—the nature of God. The Great Smoky Mountains—they are the very definition of a forest, and one of America’s most visited parks. Mammoth Cave, which is located in the Great Smoky Mountains is the longest cave in the World, with more than 360 miles of mapped passages. Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, which protects a simple, yet beautiful landscape that once covered the Midwest.

  The nature God had originally planned for man was that of the Golden Age or the Garden of Eden: this was lost at the Fall of man, but in some measure is recreated by the disciplines of civilization, morality, religion, and the arts. Man is subject to death, and on the physical level of nature there can be no more natural event than death. Yet death was not part of the order originally planned for man, and in that context, death is unnatural, sin even more so. The circling of the immortal heavenly bodies in the sky is the most eloquent symbol of the order and harmony of the nature that was originally intended for humans. The traditional, music of the celestial spheres symbolized a harmony that is recreated by human music. Music in God has its traditional Platonic meaning of the musical arts, which include poetry (as distinct from the technical arts of painting and architecture), and it also has regularly attacked to it the pun on the word harmony which makes it a symbol of the original order of nature established for man before the Fall. God consistently uses music to represent the order and balance that ought to exist in both individual and social forms of human life. Music is indispensable in restoring sanity to the insane, health to the sick; even life itself to those like Thaisa, have temporarily lost it.

 Harmony disciplines the soul, and the human mind, symbolizing the hidden sympathy between man and nature evoked by music and poetry. The art is man’s nature, the World of art and music and nature are identical on the human level, natural life goes hand in hand with proficiency in music and poetry. The settings of my photographs are usually designed to suggest the Garden of Eden or the Golden Age. In ordinary life the fact that humans essentially belong to a World with a human shape is symbolized by the garden, the cultivated form of nature. When cultivated, the garden belongs to the human level of nature; when left uncultivated, it relapses to the ordinary physical level. The garden is used as an image of human society, to appease God. Evergreen trees symbolize immortality. In Contrast, Deciduous broadleaf trees are dominant at moist, temperate latitudes, where winters are not severe.  As we move out of tropical rainforest, we enter regions where temperatures remain mild, but rainfall dwindles during part of the year. Here we find tropical deciduous forests, in which many trees drop some or all of their leaves during the pronounced dry season. The monsoon forests of India and southeastern Asia also has such trees. Farther north, in the temperate zone, rainfall is even lower, and temperatures become cold during the Winter.

 Here are regions of temperate deciduous forest. Conditions do not favor decomposition as much as they do in the humid tropics, but nutrients are conserved in the accumulated litter on the forest floor, which helps to keep moisture in the soil and fertilize it, but in the cities and suburbs, if the leaves collect in the street, or of the roof of your house, they can cause flooding and water damage to houses and roof. Nonetheless, all trees are beautiful. At one time, deciduous broadleaf forest stretched across northeastern North America in Sacramento, California, Europe, and eastern Asia. Ash, beech, birch, chestnut, elm, and deciduous oak trees dominated the forests, which largely disappeared as land was cleared for farming. Some species introduced to North America brought diseases that wiped out nearly all chestnuts and many American elms. Without rain, Earth would turn into Mars, and the planet would burn up, terminating all life. Today, maple and beech forests predominate in the Northeast. They give way to oak-hickory forests father west, which grade into oak woodlands and tall grass prairies of the Midwest.

 The God addressed the gardener as Adam’s likeness, and talks of Even and the serpent, but this garden is not Eden: it is the ground that Adam had to till after the Fall of Man, and the Queen’s attempt to curse it is useless because the general curse of nature is already there. This nature is the physical World. This is the upper or human level of nature. Humans are nice and kind and smart and gentle and caring and social, but monogamous. The natural state of man, then, is a civilized and ordered state because man is made in the image of God, and God is perfect, therefore, so is man. Geometry is one of my favorite courses.  The King is the less, he is a symbol and the more he is an incarnation of nature. Nature above art in that respect, like poets, are born not made. Murder in the order of nature, which lets in a destructive force, represented by the tempest-raising witches, and by the prodigies and portents of the murder itself, will lead to your own inevitable destruction. However, no king can actually restore mankind to the Golden Age; all around human society is still the lower physical order of nature. People on the lower levels of human nature are persistent danger of severely hurting self or others; or president inability to maintain minimal personal hygiene; or serious suicidal acts. They are repeatedly violent, maintains almost no personal hygiene and have made potentially lethal suicide attempts. Are manically excited, smears own feces, and is either incoherent or mute. Speech is illogical, obscure, or irrelevant.

 This order moves in circles, imitating the stars in their courses, but it cyclical movement is an amoral force, and it operates by necessity rather than by intelligence and freedom. It produces not only the cycles of prosperity and decline that is called the four seasons on the wheel of fortune, Earth. Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park is just over an hour from Washington, D.C., but a World away. The park contains more than 500 miles of hiking trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail, but its most famous feature is Skyline Drive, a scenic byway that funs 105 miles north and south along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you are planning a trip in the fall, aim for the middle of the week, as the route is usually packed with cars most fall weekends. In life, some have mostly bad experiences because they are at lower levels of functioning. At the higher wheel of fortune, the highest parts of your life are represented by superior function, in a wide range of activities. No symptoms. Life’s problems never seem to get out of hand. Person is sought out by others because of his or her many good skills and qualities. People at the lower end of the natural cycle will experience a lot of chaos of the storm. Happy people move upward with the ascending cycle, people who are kind and honest and hardworking.

 In a way, history cannot do, a reintegration with the higher level of nature. The only paradises are the paradises we take care of. The natural head of state; because of the conception of nature involved, he does what is required of him. If he does not, society’s natural order throws up another natural force. A natural force that under certain conditions inevitably makes its appearance. Because of his de facto authority, and society’s need of order, becomes de jure as well, a fact borne witness to by Sacramento’s dramatic transfer of loyalties to him. Still this transfer of power to William Randolph Hearst does not illustrate a breaking of the connection between human society and the cosmic order, and consequently the deposing of William becomes impotent, all the architectures, art, magic of music and poetry becomes attacked to him, because of the fact that he shares the same name as a great head of state. Now he begins to bear the obloquy of responsibility, but neither his effort to dissociate himself from the Winchester nor his dream of going into retirement can give his crown the glamour that, in history, only a lost cause can have. William Randolph Hearst, with his tremendous energy and egoism, is very well adjusted to nature as an amoral force, the aspect of nature that has been intensified by William Wirt Winchester’s accession.
