Whenever was an Ambitious Mind Satisfied by Acquisition?

Take a lesson from the fowls of Heaven, and the brutes of the field. It is not the elevation of place, but the conveniency of accommodation that governs them. Ambition is an accursed germ of evil in the human mind. Like a conjurer’s wand, ambition had so confined my mind that I could no more give my thoughts liberty to range than if I had been under the power of enchantment. This potential to transcend the limitations of the human condition is certainly a most essential human capacity. The human plane is particularly interesting and significant in its own right. I want World peace and all that good stuff, but you know, we still require a little evil to keep us all happy. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 16

You know the pastor be drinking and smoking weed after church, too. And he probably dating a few of the members. However, that is okay, as long as his wife approves and he keeping a roof over the church house, service is on time every Saturday and Sunday, or Wednesday, whatever day you feel me. Be not too ambitious, else wilt thou die of thy victories. And do not love the polar star, lest thou set fire to it and fall to ashes. I really do not mind on occasion hearing the gossip birds babble, talking about, “Girl, she had the never to snatch open my door, and walk up in my house with her hoe and called me a bitch in my own house, then slammed my mutha fuckin’ door!” #RyanPhillippe 2 of 16

Although I have no clue how that story ended, I just had to stop and asked what happened because I got into it with that bitch before, too. A youthful mind is seldom totally free from ambition; to curb that is the first step to contentment, since to diminish expectation is to increase enjoyment. Indefinite visions of ambition are weak against the ease of doing what is habitual or beguilingly agreeable; and we all know the difficulty of carrying out a resolve when we secretly long that it may turn out to be unnecessary. In such states of mind the most incredulous person has a private leaning towards a miracle. The realm of the human World is one of six Heavens. It happens to be the most fortunate realm to be born into. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 16

The World owes all its onward impulse to men ill at ease. The happy man inevitably confines himself within ancient limits. The human platform is the best for liberation, and that is what makes it especially significant in itself. It is the only realm in which it is possible to become enlightened. And I feel like I am required just to let you know, I am not really happy with you because you do not spend time with me, but then you get mad when I go somewhere with someone, or look at somebody else’s picture on Instagram. I really feel like you are taking advantage of me and wasting my time. I want someone who is hear with me all the time and like to do things with me. I am really honestly getting tired of you and everyone else. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 16

What is the point of being alive if all you do is sit there typing, sleeping, cleaning, doing laundry, and walking to stay in shape? Then on top of that because of some unknown reason I cannot go anywhere, and what I do I get assaulted, or threatened. And furthermore, then there are people running around playing spy hunter and instead of asking questions, like a bunch of spooks, they run around snooping. Americans seem to place special value on human incarnation in its own right, and are more interested in fulfilling the meaning of this incarnation than going beyond it or finding release from it. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 16

All I know is I am not happy, but glad you are enjoying all of this. I am so ready to just give up and stop doing everything. I feel like it is a waste of time because I am not getting anything that I want and I have been trying so hard. Regardless of if I do this or not, I will be in the same situation. So what is the point of being so understanding and supporting someone who does nothing, but leave mean waiting, struggling, suffering, and longing for a real and true companion? Instead of liberation, Americans focus on humanness as an evolving vehicle through which the divine, or unconditioned being, can progressively manifest in conditioned, Earthly existence. #RyanPhillippe 6 of 16

Ambition is temptation which could disturb the bliss of Heaven itself. If you are like me, you have been happy in your relationship for a while, but lately it just does not feel right. Do you suspect your man might be calling Becky with the good hair and cheating on you? The usual suspects: Lipstick on his collar or clothes, unexpected marks indicative of sexual activity on his body, another person’s scent on his clothes or hair. Especially if this happens more than once. All of the sudden, his working days are longer, maybe he even had to travel, so he is away from you for days, weeks, and even months at a time. You start seeing him posting pictures on social media with other people, hugging and kissing them. Then on top of all that, lifestyle expenses are increasing (drinks, meals, hotels, drugs, clothes, cars, gasoline) that do not include you. #RyanPhillippe 7 of 16

Americans also emphasize fully inhabiting our humanness, with all its precariousness and vulnerability. This means fully engaging in the relationships and existential situations we find ourselves in, and also giving ourselves to the evolutionary process of transforming this World. However, he is not even present. Even when he is physically with me, he is off in his own World, and he is not really hearing me. I could say that to be human is to be vulnerable and indestructible at the same time. He takes a lot more trouble over his appearance by dressing better, keeping his hair cut, using aftershave, and has an infatuation with the gym and lifting weights. Fully inhabiting our humanness involve a willingness to open fully to the rawness of creaturely existence, and feel what it is like to be subject to hurt, limitation, conditioning and death. #RyanPhillippe 8 of 16

In life you must not wait for the prize of the race till you touch the goal. You can tell a person is acting unusual when they start changing things up at the house. Showing before coming to bed sometimes signifies guilt or a desire to avoid detection of the scent of a lover, is another clue. One may also be cleaning the car to remove signs of another person. Transcending our humanness means gaining access to the larger domain of pure being and limitless awareness that is not bound by unreality at all. When your man starts a new enthusiasm for a colleague at work, a newly single female, or even a friend of yours. Suddenly, he is talking about her a lot and only too willing to help her out. In fact, he is almost over-helpful! It feels like he has a crush on her to me. Then on top of that he stops noticing you. You could probably have just gotten beat up and be covered in bruises and he will not even hug you, offer you a cup of koffee, not ask you how you are feeling. #RyanPhillippe 9 of 16

Being fully human means honoring truth—immanence, and fully engaging with our humanness, and transcendence, or liberation—equally. If we try to deny out vulnerability, we lose touch with our heart; if we fail to realize our indestructibility, we lose access to enlightened mind. A client of mind once told me that he had been choked, and hit, and two people threatened to kill him while he was driving on his way to the house, and his spouse just pretended like nothing happened, of course he may not have known, but he did not even notice when his mate almost passed out in a pot of boiling water while cooking dinner. It is almost like he does not care, just keep letting it ride until the injuries are too noticeable to overlook, or he will just grief at the funeral? #RyanPhillippe 10 of 16

To be fully human means standing willingly and consciously in both dimensions. This makes human existence an extremely interesting crossroads. Another client told me she once stuck s strand of her long hair in the flame during a candle-lit dinner with her husband—and he did not notice. If your intuition is screaming that you he is having an affair, it is possible that it may be true. Your intuition does not have an agenda, it does not want you to hold onto this man at all costs, it just tells you the truth that it picks up from a thousand subtle clues. His accusations are that you are jealous and/or crazy. Attack is a cheater’s best form of defense. These are classic ploys for making you doubt yourself. Unless you are a habitually jealous person, you are required to trust your feelings and emotions. #RyanPhillippe 11 of 16

A view that honors and appreciates the full range of human experiences is characterized by survival concerns and dualistic alienation. The dualism of the egoic mind sets up a strict divide between self and other, resulting in endless suffering and conflict. An accomplished cheater will have a mobile that you have never even seen which he uses for his other women/men. The same goes for email accounts. As regards to social media, unless he is an idiot, and/or wants you to find out, you probably will not find any traces of cheating on his social media, unless he is posting the pictures up there for you to see, then pretending they are old or digitally engineered to make you feel comfortable and rationalize these signs of infidelity when they arise. #RyanPhillippe 12 of 16

Then there is nirvana, evolution liberating him, characterized by a pure, open field of awareness that is not divided into subject and object. Are they suddenly being overly nice? Allowing you to watch whatever you want on TV, buying you gifts, asking if you would like to go out to your favourite restaurant. For some, having an affair can make them act happier in their life…or guilt can make them try to make it up to you subconsciously. This awareness of the mind is ready to reveal itself and knows it is time for you to tune into it. Awareness is the doorway to liberation by revealing absolute truth: There is no separate self and no separate other, and thus dualistic alienation and conflict cease. #RyanPhillippe 13 of 16

There is a human domain proper, which comes to full measure through bringing the complete openness of suprapersonal awareness into personal responsiveness and vital engagement with the situation and people we encounter. Sometimes I hang on to a relationship, even when I am ready to let go, because I think it will get better. However, when your spouse is constantly picking fault with your or accusing you of cheating, one has to recognize that when attraction fades in a relationship and there is something going on the side, it is easy to get irritable. The added burden of deceit does not help. Plus, once someone has successfully cheated undetected, they start to think if they could do it, why cannot you. On the human plane, our lives evolve and unfold through the relative play of duality—otherwise known as the relationship. #RyanPhillippe 14 of 16

Indeed, the central, defining feature of the human realm is relationship—the network of interactions with others that supports our life from the cradle to the grave. I cannot understand what you are doing and I am not happy with the way things are going. We all know you have cheated and that is why you suspect me of cheating, and I am not happy. You are not doing anything for me that I know of, and I am really ready to let this go and just take my chances out in the World meeting people on my own. Relationships only happens when there are two—who engage in a dance that continually moves back and forth between twoness and oneness. In this way, the human ream serves as a bridge linking us to love. #RyanPhillippe 15 of 16

However, the way you have done me over the past year in particular is not okay, and I do love you, and I know you have problems, too. Nonetheless, you are by definition abusive and I am sure you would want to kill someone if they treated your daughter they way you have treated me. This is why being human is a living paradox, and also a field in which a vast range of feeling—from unbearable sorrow to unthinkable joy—is possible. However, there is a one-sided perspective circulating in this situation, and it is time for you to show absolutely that you love me and want to be here, or we need to just sit down, over dinner, and say a final good-bye. I know everything about you. We even shared our first kiss at the Castle on 29 May 2015 at 6.36pm. #RyanPhillippe 16 of 16
Hold on as Long as Fully Possible to that Rocking-Chair

Ah! Child, you should read books which would teach you a little hypocrisy, which would instruct you how to hide your thoughts a little better. In the middle years, around thirty-five and extending into the early sixties, under normal circumstances there are few gross changes in our behavior, in our attitudes, or in our activities. We experience some decline in energy and become more sensitive to the rush of time because years accumulate with increasing rapidity. In contrast to physical activity, we tend to look more to mental activity for satisfaction and recognition. Even through there is occasional tiredness, life remains full, active, and intact. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 22

It is a dangerous thing to trust an illustration. Sometimes in the mid-sixties, our life pattern shows more noticeable changes. This is the period of later maturity. We experience increasing difficulty with extensive involvements. Coping with life’s exigencies requires more coping skill. We experience more assets and less financial deficiencies. Gains begin to exceed losses. However, it is hard to life together because your body does not necessarily function the same and one reacts differently to disturbances. It takes a greater expenditure of energy to function. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 22

Imagination is the child of inherited and living impressions. for some there comes that period to which the greatest anxiety is related: namely, antiquated age. It may come in the late sixties for some, but not until late seventies or eighties for others, and not until the early nineties for a few. During the antiquated period of age, people might experience extreme limitations, but others may not. Life may decisively become constricted and even disorganized. One becomes fragile, perhaps disabled, and virtually much like an infant or toddler, requiring constant care or supervision. Some manage to exists, others simply vegetate, and the nightmare of aging turns into the trauma of senility for a few. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 22

Senility as the frightening face of aging conveys the greatest threat of all: long-term chronic illness, institutionalization, loss of independent status. When we no longer have a sense of dignity and when we no longer possess a sense of self-determination, then we no longer are ourselves. A terrifying Other has taken over our reliable self. We are lost, yet we continue to live on. However, keep in mind that aging is not all bad, there are some relatively advantaged 74-year-olds who have better-than-average healthy, cooperativeness, and general well-being. They usually also have paid their houses off, having a nice saving account, and can afford to buy the coolest sports cars. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 22

The darker the ignorance, the more praise to the teacher who dispels it; the deeper the prejudice, more fame to the courage which braves it. Aging is not a death sentence. It is not like the grim reaper is stalking you and every moment you walk out of the house you may go missing or be hunted down by people who hate their elders and thrown into an institution to speed up against your will just so your greedy kids can distribute your house and assets, and cash in on your life insurance policy—come on—your life is not a lottery game. Some antiquated people function well and have a complex inner life. They are intact intellectually and are competent personally. There is a flexibleness, mellowness, and a maturity that characterizes one’s activities and satisfactions. Some still enjoy a broad range of activities like golf, homemaking, driving, gardening, swimming, shopping, and walks through the park. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 22

Of all the illustrious mortals, there are but very few who would not gladly have exchanged their immortality for the comforts and conveniences which are bestowed on the meanest of mankind. Many antiquated people who reduce their levels of stress and participate in a broad range of activities stay young, remains active, finds substitute involvement as limitations appear, and refuses to turn into a sloth. Yet, some antiquated feel more secure with a deliberate decision to withdraw from active involvement and look forward to sitting in a rocking-chair and enjoying a peaceful life. They may still strive for achievement, and maintain a tight control over their impulse of life to defend against anxiety. #RyanPhillippe 6 of 22

Perhaps it is better to wake up, even to suffer, rather than to remain a dupe to illusions all one’s life. My son keeps calling me about some of his neighbors, and he always tells me, “Dad, why are these people not like my grandparents? I thought old people were nice, peaceful, clear, and proper. These old people are loud, they stink, they fight, curse, drink, and party more than the college students do, what is wrong with them?” Son, the people you are talking about are usually people who are unintegrated or disorganized. They have gross psychological defects, loss of emotional control, and suffer from a deterioration of the thought process. #RyanPhillippe 7 of 22

After I told him that, my son then says, “Dad, what can we do to reduce the painfulness and to enhance the meaningfulness of aging? What can optimize its assets? What can minimize its liabilities? You know, these antiquated people are lucky, I was looking for affordable housing and all of the nice and peaceful places are for seniors only, and they are new and clean and quiet. Affordable housing for the youth tends to be fully of problems, pests, loud noises, crime, prostitution, drugs, and people with serious mental issues. Words are gas until you condense them into pictures. #RyanPhillippe 8 of 22

My son seems to be dealing with militant old people fighting for a non-bingo way of life. The important as we age, even for the youth is to have an awareness of oneself and one’s identity as a responsible person; confidence in one’s own experience; involvement in decision-making processes; transcendent interest reflecting meaning and significance in living. As you see, many of the elder face the same problems are teenagers and people in their early twenties, and this articulation of the needs of the elderly shows the continuity with the needs of the younger people. #RyanPhillippe 9 of 22

Despite obvious, conspicuous, and monumental differences, we are more alike than we are different. Transition characterizes every age: from the womb to the World; from the home to the school; from the school to the work World; from living with one’s natural family to living in one’s acquired family; from seeking to become settled to having settled in; from any involvements to fewer involvements; from middle age to later maturity to antiquated age. Transition—anticipated, remembered, known, experiences, feared—distinguishes events from the ongoing. The awareness of change symbolized our peculiarly human predicament. #RyanPhillippe 10 of 22

Under conditions of change, we are forced to reorient ourselves in terms of time and space. Much of the difficulty seniors experience in moving from the house into a smaller place is not simply the thankless and poignant task of deciding about the accumulated possessions of the years. That decision-making is hard enough: What do we do with these letters and financial documents? What about those photographs? Can we throw out these certificates of recognition? What are we to do with the children’s baby things? Oh, I am going to miss my house, trees, flowers, and lawn. #RyanPhillippe 11 of 22

And so the process goes. Almost every object reawakens long forgotten yet living memories, memories that remind us of who we are. However, more than the throwing out is the uncertainty of the projected moving in. We have to reorient ourselves to find another place. We have to reorganize our possessions in order to dwell in the land of the living. And that takes a mobilization of all the energy we have plus a great deal more! To claim the advantage of superior ag is to give sure offense, an old man is easily brought to speak of olden times. #RyanPhillippe 12 of 22

Youth is a good subject for a physician to work upon. For many elderly people, transitions tend to be especially traumatic. One moves from a known life space in which there may not be room to roam. It is that collapsing of space that lies within the terrible prospect of senility. In its less acute form, the trauma of transition finds expression in the anticipation institutionalization. One sees oneself inevitably driven from relative autonomy into residential care. When the desultory levity of youth has, with age, settled into regularity, it is soon succeeded by pride ashamed to yield, or obstinacy delighting to content. #RyanPhillippe 13 of 22

Because of the focal fear of institutionalization, and its corollary anxiety the aggravation of aging, things look dim to antiquated folks: they require some young eyes about them, to let them know the World is still the same as it used to be. Youth can enjoy the benefit of the experience of age, and that at a time of life when such experience will be of more service to a man than when he hath lived long enough to acquire it of himself. To help the confused elderly person, Reality Orientation and Attitude Therapy can help many stay coherent and consistent by understanding the individual’s behavior problems and patterns. #RyanPhillippe 14 of 22

Sometimes age looks with anger on the temerity of youth, and youth with contempt on the scrupulosity of age. Reality Orientation is a retraining program aimed at the confusion stemming from severe organic cerebral deficiency. The colors of life in youth and age appear different, as the face of nature in Spring and Winter. The individual is no longer able to keep facts straight. There is a loss of dignity and self-determination. Attention span is short and confusion great. With a careful program of relearning one’s name—recovery of one’s basic identity—and offering simple information as time, place, and activity, the person become reoriented in reality. #RyanPhillippe 15 of 22

They say that antiquated people find themselves at last face to face with a solid blank wall and stand thumping against it in vain. It resounds, it seems to have something beyond it, but it will not move. That is only a reason for living with open doors as long as we can. In a friendly, calm, direct, and slow atmosphere, the person engages in simple, familiar, and persistent activities. Our first youth is value; for we are never conscious of it, until after it is gone. The repetitive consistency literally works wonders whenever confusion is present and one’s usual control are undermined. #RyanPhillippe 16 of 22

Mischief is the fun of youth. In contrast to, although in combination with, Reality Orientation, Attitude Therapy deals with the interpersonal exchanges between individuals. It is a carefully planned attitude approach to treatment that endeavors to decrease and extinguish undesirable behaviors and to increase and reinforce desirable behaviors. Just like at the opera, anything seems possible. This method of treatment requires consistency on the part of everyone who has contact with the patient or resident. In it maintained around the clock. Like young child, antiquated people do not have the adaptability and flexibility to cope easily with inconsistency in the environment. #RyanPhillippe 17 of 22

When individuals vary in the way they deal with the person, therefore, confusion, frustration, uncertainty, anxiety, aggravation, irritation, and rage follow. You know how annoying it is when you see someone and they act brand new with you. Or you try to have “water cooler talk” in the supermarket with the cashier about a product and she keeps trying to pry into your personal life and your living arraignments. The less consistency, the greater the resulting upset. The greater the consistency, the less the resulting upset. Youth and discretion are with respect to each other as two parallel lines, which, through infinitely produced, remain still equidistant, and will never coincide. #RyanPhillippe 18 of 22

Stogner mental agitation and disturbance was no novelty to my neighbor, even before his late sufferings. It never is, to obstinate and sullen natures; for they struggle hard to be such. Miss Bolo rose from the table considerably agitated, and went straight home, in a flood of tears and a sedan-chair because she got a late fee for not paying her rent, but only forgot about it because the management company no longer sends out rent statements. Miss Bolo was so upset because a late fee eats into her Social Security check and she cannot afford her medications as it is. Miss Bolo thinks it would be hard for her to find a new place to live and wish her property manager was more considerate of her advanced age. #RyanPhillippe 19 of 22

We can forgive ourselves that, at the time of the previous emotional overwhelm (like the one Miss Bolo experienced), we simply did not know how to handle it. When one is vulnerable, has no family, lives on retirement, and cannot afford market rate rent, and already having problems paying the bills, anything that may cause them to lose their homes causes a great deal of stress. Often times when people with medical conditions end up homeless, they die fast because they do not have the materials nor facilities necessary to care for themselves. There were a lot of residuals that left Miss Bolo emotionally disabled at that time. #RyanPhillippe 20 of 22

She left her beautiful home in the suburbs, lost a lot of her possession, and friends and neighbors, and now lives in what she calls an office space, where no matter what time of day or night it is, it is happy hour. However, Miss Bolo reports that after she goes to her Reality class with the nice young man, she feels a sense of gratitude that she has a new opportunity to learn, to grow, and to acquire wisdom. One of the most common in which we see this emotional crippling is after a divorce of death of a spouse. All too often it is followed by bitterness and the impaired capacity to create a new loving relationship. The unwillingness to let go of the blame continues the emotional crippling, which can go on for years, or even a life time. #RyanPhillippe 21 of 22

When we come upon bitterness, what we have really discovered is an unhealed area in our own emotional makeup, and the effort that we put into healing, it will bring us enormous rewards. Many antiquated people I talk to besides the normal concerns, the thing they miss the most is having someone they trust to talk to and spend time with consistently. In any situation that involves suffering, we have to ask ourselves: How long am I willing to pay the cost? What where the karmic propensities to begin with? How much blame is enough? Is there time to call an end to it? How long will I hold on to it? How much self-punishment is enough? When will this sentence end? Ambition, baneful ambition, hath ruined angels, and lost them in Heaven. #RyanPhillippe 22 of 22

Facing the World with Stories of California—Shine on You Crazy Diamond!

There was a slight occurrence which had extremely frightened me. I was sporting with my older child, when we were threatened by shadows of the night, as and buttons on the multi-line telephones began to light up in quick succession when there were no calls coming in. The tiny springs under the individual keys on electric typewriters became limp, twisted together and balled up. The phone company was called in to check the lines as well as the phone themselves. Technicians could not find anything wrong anywhere in the service. A typewriter repairman, Bob Goosey, who was hired to fix the keyboards, was completely baffled. He indicated that, typically, such springs could be expected to last 10 years or more before wearing out. However, for some mysterious reasons, all the coils under all the keys in all the reasonably new typewriters in this one office were required to be replaced at the same time. The problems with those tiny springs were only the beginning. Soon, objects began to fly off shelves and crash into walls. It was then that I called the police. Detective Cornell, the officer who responded to the call, was completely stumped by the destruction the she found. I desired to get to the city that evening, although I was on duty and had no right to leave the hospital. On my return, I noticed to my surprise, that there was a light in my room. One leaving the room, I had forgotten to put it out, something that had never happened before. However, soon grasped the motive of this forgetting. The hospital superintendent who lived in the same house must have concluded from the light in the room that I was at home. A man overburdened with worries and subject to occasional depression assured me that he regularly forgot to wind his watch on those evenings when life seemed too hard and unfriendly.

In this omission to wind his watch, he symbolically expressed that it was a matter of indifference to him whether he lived to see the next day. Another man who was personally unknown to me wrote: “Having been struck by a terrible misfortune, life appeared so harsh and unsympathetic, that I imagined that I had not sufficient strength to live to see the next day. I then noticed that almost every day I forgot to wind my watch, something that I had never omitted before. I had been in the habit of doing it regularly before retiring in an almost mechanical and unconscious manner. It was only very seldom that I thought of it, and that happened when I had something important for the next day which held my interest. Should this be considered a symptomatic action? I really cannot explain it.” The loss of valuable articles serves as an expression of diverse feelings; it may either symbolically represent a repressed thought—that it, it may bring back a memory which one would rather not hear—or it may represent a sacrifice to the obscure forces of fate, the worship of which is not yet entirely extinct even with us. A colleague who did not like to lose at cards, had to pay one evening a large sum of money in consequences of his losses; he did this without complaint, but with a peculiarly constrained temper. After his departure, it was discovered that he had left practically everything he had with him at this place, spectacles, cigar case, and a handkerchief, he damn there left his britches behind. That would be readily translated into the words: “You robbers, you have nicely plundered me. Do you not have anywhere to put your dirty nickers?”

Moments after he entered the haunted premises, the officer watched in amazed horror as a vase, holding a bouquet of fresh cut flowers, flew off the shelf and across the room before making “a right turn” and finally smashing to the floor with its contents littered about. While still struggling to understand what just happened, I was startled by the sight and sound of eight telephones falling, one after the other, off the workers’ desk, at a cost of $260 a piece, onto the floor below. By this time, word of the bizarre occurrences had leaked to the press. Reporter Charlie Cotton from TZM arrived to cover what had become a legitimate news story. The photojournalist quickly set up his camera near some of the wreckage that the unseen force had caused. As Charlie Cotton turned on the camera, a jar of koffee creamer that had been stored on a nearby shelf moved into the center of the room and began sprinkling its contents around the office. During that hour, a part from a Dictaphone machine flew out of the cabinet in which it was stored; light bulbs exploded; a can of floor wax “fell” out of the cupboard in which it had been stored and landed eight feet away; and a metal container holding paper cups mysteriously detached itself from the water cooler, moved across the room, and began scattering cups around the floor. The room in which this happened was empty at the time, as was the room where the metal file-card box “fell” from the top of a file cabinet. A few minutes later, a two-pound koffee can did the same thing. I guess the poltergeist wanted koffee and cream and was in a hurry to file paperwork?

If people from the outside World had not previously been aware of the poltergeist in the building on Franklin Street, they certainly were after a typewriter cover flew out an open window and landed near a pedestrian on the sidewalk below. The pedestrian, a man identified as Dr. F.J. Stryble, kindly picked up the piece of equipment and returned in to the office. I made some attempts to give attention to soul operating in the outer World, an attention most clearly evidenced in my work on synchronicity. I often begin with cultural products and trace them back to the individual soul as the reservoir of images. The required supplement begins with the individual soul and traces its movement into the World, as a movement toward culture. Let us call this motion education. As it takes place through individuals let us call this motion learning. In order to avoid the bias that learning involves intellectual cognition, memory, and practice of skills, I want to emphasize the role of the body in learning. The impulse for learning originates in an alluring display of the beauty of the World, which evokes desire for intimate connection with the soul of the World. Things draw us to intimate knowledge as if they required us for their completion. The beauty of the World draws the soul out of an inclination toward self-enclosing mastery of the World through disengagement and into engagement with reality. This living desire to experience the World pulsing through the body wants to initiate in us a care for all things. When things are approached with the care of soul, their inner soul shines forth. In the ancient World each thing was seen as inhabited by a Daemon, a kind of intermediary between the Gods and the Earthly World.

What we see is not the ‘God” himself, but an emanation from him which is partly mortal, partly divine, and even this we do not see with our physical eyes but with the eyes of our astral body, according to the principle ‘like is perceived by like’. Learning is the discipline required to awaken the astral or soul body, the capacity to perceive the outer World as a portrait. The central task of learning is not accumulation of information, but learning to learn. This process consists of coming to realize the individual body in conjunction with the body of the World and the body of the World and to appreciate the conjunction as container and reflector of soul. You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze. The Daemons, who are the imaginable guardians of the soul of things, are also guardians of the astral body; individuals are also accompanied through life by being such beings, knows as geniuses. The relation between individual genius and those Daemons of the World, the push and pull between them, seems to me to lie at the heart of learning. The personal genius is attracted to its similar among the Daemons in the World, and thus the act of knowing through soul, the desire to be united with the things known, is the strongest factor in leaning. Remember when you were young, you shone like the Sun, shine on your crazy diamond. Now there is a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.

Return of the Soul to the World of Romanticism and Decadence 1885

Stress does not center on human beings but refers to a physical matter that has been deprived of imagination, treated mechanically. If you felt unsafe with people as a child, you may have developed a very special relationship with nature, animals, books, art, music, architecture, cars, nature, sports, and so forth. Though listening may seem like a passive activity, it can actually be quite dynamic, requiring both alertness and ease. We deepen our resonance with the other, becoming a kind of caring clearing for the full expression of what they are sharing with us. We must face our unresolved wounds, shame, and whatever else is holding us back, bringing our head, hearts, and spirit into full-blooded alignment. Burnout can be viewed as deriving from the burnt-out people in the World that continue to function without inspiration. When you do not get everything you require, the deprivation can help you become very resourceful. You learn some great survival skills, like not passively waiting for someone else to provide for you. Childhood suffering created many individuals whose self-reliance resulted in extraordinary achievements. It also created many people who are content engaging in solitary activities like reading, swimming, watching movies, eating, exploring outdoors, gardening, being an artist, computer science, or doing scientific research. Aside from the fear, we are also like to find jealousy. Anorexia and bulimia aptly describe the World stripped of love for the spirit. We find competitiveness and all other little components of the feeling complex that have blocked the relationship. The simultaneous letting go of the negative and accepting the love that is offered to us, results in a metaphasis of inner energies, and there is an accompanying subtle change in our self-esteem.

Letting something good happen in the relationship is all that is necessary. We can then just sit back and watch what occurs. In this experiment, we are not interested in whether or not the other person “gets it.” We are only interested that we get it. Drugs are all artificial spirits, manufactured sham replacements of the imagination of the World. When you are pushed into a place where you have to keep yourself alert to avoid being hurt, you often develop excellent observation skills and survival instincts. You tend to see what is going on around you faster than those who grew up protected by the adults in their lives. We are only interest in moving our own position in the matter and then, we just watch what happens.A very rewarding experience usually ensures, which will take different forms depending on the circumstances. If you witnessed a lot of dysfunctional behavior, it may have helped you learn how to avoid potentially harmful situations and people. Heart attack relates to the removal of beauty from the World, producing heart-stopping anxiety. Being impacted by family violence, not being provided with basic adult attention or affection, or material necessary, or being emotionally neglected is likely to be met at first with skepticism. They might appear to be of no practical value, for they do not seem to alter the actual cityscape. Such an attitude diminishes soul by assuming that it has no power. The kind of perception that stares out of a vacuous body onto a World of inanimate things is a relatively recent development—beginning about the sixteenth century, the time modern economics began to take hold. This manner of abstractly viewing the World has since shaped the World. With cancer, we clearly see how the ensouled body of the World is taken over by an imitation body. The complaints of the thingly World are modern disease.

Since the people of Earth have exclusively turned toward the World of things and objects and left the spiritual World of mind and feelings, this manner of abstractly viewing the World has allowed us to gain power over the material World, and it is the stance that makes us live in dread of holocausts, the final result of the idea the World as dead. The holocaust in Africa, and the rest of the World began the moment the World was declared dead; all anxiety about the actual end is the accumulation of the daily dread of the destructive power over things. Give us this our daily dread, but let us feel it. Traumatic overwhelm has not been resolved. The mind projects on to the future with the expectation that the past will be repeated. Do they not well up first in the outer World, and are not our sufferings merely the ways through which the silent World finds expression? As we go through our own emotional healing for our own sake, that past event now begins to take on a different meaning. Our High Self begins to create a new context for stress, burnout, anorexia, bulimia, drugs, heart attack, cancer, unreality—are these not the illnesses of the modern World? They are all here to stimulate a next phase in the evolution of soul, the return of soul to the World. The materials now employed to create the architectural design of the World lack the touch of the human hand, handcraft being the traditional mediator through which the World soul reshapes itself into images suitable for given historical circumstances.

And yet, while everyone decries the shoddiness of modern materials, a return to Victorian design and handcraft does not appear possible. All romantics have agreed: the centrality of imagination and the presence of the divine, not out in the Universe somewhere, but within. The resurrection body of Christ is imagination. Romanticism contains the optimism that we can become our own Gods, a proposition put forth by Randolph Harris. The romantic adventure concentrated on the development of imagination and the cultivation of inner life. When, however, the romantics tried to live in the World through the centrality of imagination, we find romanticism turned into decadence, at around 1885. The decadents attempted to live the inner life and only the inner life, but they discovered this attempt impossible to sustain. Consequently, by separating from the World, the decadents took the imagination from the World. Soul making seems to me is cultivation of living energy at the expense of the World. The tremendous force that comes about through the cultivation of the inner life can produce radical changes in the outer World if it is oriented in that direction always. Just like the idea of materialism, a shadowy intellectual construction of what the World, concentration of soul of the World can bring about a World of imagination. It does not take large numbers to restore peace, love, harmony, soul and Victorianism to the World. The romantics numbered a few hundred at the most. Who knows what might happen with the discipline of daily clothing the World with imagination.

People who are required to approach their painful memories through some kind of activity instead of intellectual contemplation often prefer to use the process of investigation and verification. Talk to others who share the same family history, or were part of very similar families, to investigate and verify your memories. Actively share memories of growing up will illuminate your psychology of child development and learning. Education is a cultural enterprise, and as the word of God itself says, education concerns guidance of soul into World. The spontaneous creativity of the individual soul makes a work of art and that work of art is the human body. Remember, the soul forms a continuous spectrum, a rainbow in which the blue end is consciousness and the red end instinct. The act of human making constitutes culture, education in this sense concerns the you who lived yesterday. I will call you from my mind to yours, come back from the shadows into the light, and show yourself here and now living in the unity of soul in the visible World please, Sitri, Bitru, and Sytry. Oh, Prince, make culture, harness humankind to the dead forces of materialism. Heal the souls that have been dammed from preschool through graduate school. These as well as other similar experiences have caused me to think that the actions executed unintentionally must inevitably become the source of misunderstanding in human relations. The perpetrator of the act, who is unaware of any associated intention, takes no account of it, and does not hold himself responsible for it because it is a psychic process. I complain of being misunderstood and expressed the same views long before. I become indigent when these conclusions are drawn.

I have a Glock in My Rari– the City’s Invisible Antiquated Soul

While the Sacramento King’s and their new institutional gray uniforms make them look like a basketball team that escaped from a mental hospital, instead of seeing the building as an obstacle (walkthroughs cost $100,000.00), think about the life of the building—its moods, what it displays and what it hides, its sensitivities, its relations to its neighbors. Some time ago, I was asked to speak to a group of city managers on the topic of architecture and the quality of life in the city. The meeting took place in a small room in the city’s convention center. The room itself was sick. It had no windows, and the drab acoustic ceilings pressed in from above, sandwiching the room with oppression. The door was without a handle. It had only a steel plate for the hand and was indistinguishable from a public restroom entry. No crown molding marked a difference between ceiling and walls, and between walls and floor. Painted institutional gray, its floor covered with rough nappy carpet, the space was filled with ugly brown folding chairs. The conversation in that space was interesting. It all gravitated toward power. A group of fairly ordinary people, city workers, all began talking about how they would change the architecture of the city.

However, no one noticed the suffering of this room. So how would it be possible to trust how they would reshape the city? The room was filled either with complaints or with cheerleader promotions of the achievements of the city. It is not surprising that in an empty space such as this the imagination of power took hold. The room was not used but used up; it felt neglected, abuse, tricked. Nevertheless, a great deal could be done to care for the soul of the room, starting with the recognition that it is hurting. What could be done? Simple things. A small table with a flower placed on it would honor the room. Anything given to the room that indicates through its presence a linking between this place and the larger World honors the room by saying that it is part of the World and not a space capsule. Anything that gives sensory experience to the room retrieves the soul from abstraction. A flower, a wooden table, a ceramic vase, a little Earth, the necessary watering of a plant—with such gestures we have located this room on Earth. Of course, if all the rooms of this convention center were suddenly supplied with tables and plants, all that was achieved through this suggestion would be lost so long as each room was not treated according to its particularity by the particularity of an individual soul.

I receive everything in the name of God. Sensory experience is required, but imagination must be a primary ingredient. Nothing would be further off the mark than to hire a decorating firm to come in and prettify one abstraction with an additional one. The approach to the soul of the city I have in mind can best be carried forth by individuals, as a kind of ongoing therapy in daily life. First, we must have the felt recognition that the dominance of technical architecture and city design deadens the soul, and we must realize that the city is dying, in spite of its glitter and flash and $508 million publicly funded cheaply designed Japanese rendition of a Greek colosseum and self-promotion. Once we get through the denial, a response of rage follows. Homeless people from West Sacramento are camping out at the state capitol in the city of Sacramento and all of this makes us want to flee the city. Rage—felt, held, not shut off nor denied nor acted out—leads to compassion. Compassion must be nurtured to the point that one suffers with things. Compassion opens up the soul, an opening which can lead to a different perception of the city, one which ceases merely to look at the city and begins to engage the city’s invisible soul.

In order for anything to express itself, it is required to be held in a good regard. However, this regard is not a judgment of things as beautiful when it is not, or as good when it is not. The good regard is the capacity to experience the particularity of things of the World in an attitude of silence and waiting. The heart says yes there is something here to behold beyond what I think or feel about it. The heart does not strive after meaning, but rather allows the things to disclose themselves. The process is applicable in all negative situations. It enables us to change the context by which we perceive our current situation. It enables us to give it a new and different meaning. It lifts us up from being the helpless victim to the conscious chooser. By dissolving the cognitive filters that maintain the division between self and other, reality awareness is the doorway to liberation from unreality and the narrow, conflicting World of Sacramento. It reveals absolute truth, the way things officially are: inseparable, undivided, interconnected. Our very being is not separate from the reality of God and all being.

The city of Sacramento is inseparable from the soul of reality as it appears and flows through us at every moment, in the influx of our ongoing beautiful experience of life. If the dualistic egoic mind is prehumen, or subhuman, in that it is survival-oriented, reality of egoless awareness is transhuman, or suprapersonal, because it opens up a larger expanse of being or presence that is free from our ordinary, personal involvement in immediate existential situations. These two planes of existence—subhuman and transhuman—are the main focus of many Old-World traditions, which lay out a path leading from the bondage of unreality to the liberation of God’s reality and awareness. You are looking for clues about what might have shaped your current ideas about the city of Sacramento, fears, dreams, tender places, and sore spots. So, instead of getting lost in your happy and unhappy memories on this trip down Memory Lane, you should look for the signposts that signal what your past relationships and experiences in Sacramento have to teach you. You want to discern what stands out as important danger warnings and what the welcome signs were, too. You are looking back for the relationships and experiences that taught your gut to flash “Danger, Falling Rocks!” so that you learned to keep your eyes open. You are also looking for what you learned about your ability to find the bypass signs that allow you to detour past the worst of the swamps and sinkholes.

Proximity Creates Possibility: it is Always there but Hidden from View

There are many ways of looking at power, but for our purposes here, power is the capacity to act effectively, to generate significant change, to impose one’s will on one’s environment, human and otherwise. Is there something generous within ourselves? We begin to see that, as we let go resisting the feeling of generosity, there is kindness. I do, in fact, enjoy giving to others under certain circumstances. When I give to people who truly deserve it, I feel a White Squall of good feelings that arise when I express gratitude and acknowledge the gifts that others have given to me. There is nothing wrong to want to overpower another under certain conditions, such as fiercely competitive, yet still mutually respectful game of tennis. Nor is it wrong to exult in our achievements at such times. However, there is also a deeper game to be played, a game in which far more is at stake than our ego’s status. Most people’s consciousness remains restricted to a single plane of reality: dualistic perception, as fabricated by the conditioned egoic mind, which sets up a solid division between the separate self over there and everything else over there.

All our main patterns of self-defense—repression, resistance, denial, avoidance, withdrawal, projection, judgement, rejection, dissociation, aggression—are ways of separating ourselves from reality, standing apart from it, and substituting a mind-created unreality in its place. This tendency to fabricate our own separate reality is a way of trying to protect ourselves against other—those elements of reality that appear alien of threatening. The dualistic eg0-mind is essentially a survival mechanism, on a par with the fangs, claws, stingers, scales, shells, and quills that other animals used to protect themselves. By maintaining this unreality self-sense, the ego attempts to provide a haven of security in an impermanent World marked by continual change, unpredictability, and loss. Yet the very boundaries that create a sense of safety also leave one feeling cut off and disconnected from reality. So unless we develop beyond the defensive ego-mind, we remain subject to endless inner conflict, alienation, and suffering. One has to take more time for themselves and cultivate their inner life.

In the ancient World, the organ for perception of the world was the heart. Present perception tends to be bi-located—in the head and in the genitals—with a great cavity of repressed anxiety in between. We see not what is there but what we conceptualize, and imagination collects around sex. It is the heart, however, that is simultaneously the organ of perception and the imagination. The heart responds to beauty. It can also project beauty. Because technical architecture is said to not have a soul, a soul must be given to it. We make a building beautiful when we stop for it, suspend the motion of thoughts, and linger with it, rather than merely using it. A glass tower is not unlike a computer. Both are media whose message is to increase efficiency. To spend time each day giving attention to a technical building where one works is a very unfamiliar gesture toward a thing designed to receive little attention, designed to focus attention on efficient work. The soul work here consists of defamiliarizing it, loosening the web of anesthesia.

The Built Environment of the Technical World and the Soul

Truly effective communication is as attuned to what is going on emotionally as it is to mental activity, staying empathetically present, listening to both what is being said and to what is not being said. This is about undivided attention, openness, compassion, and genuine interest, all working together. Pay attention to body language and the quality of presence. As we listen, we become aware of what is not being spoken but nonetheless still being expressed. We deepen our resonance with the other, becoming a kind of caring clearing for the full expression of what they are sharing with us. Such nonverbal attunement is especially valuable when the other is disturbed enough to be saying things that are easily categorized as irrational or even absurd. At such times, it can be best not to take what is being said literally, and to simply be present for the other. (That being said, deep listening does not mean putting up with abuse nor disrespect.) #My confidence level has increased; my business has increased. There are things in life for me to accept and I do not always prefer them and yet it is okay. I can no longer get stuck in doing something wrong. This is a different environment to dwell in. I am highly creative and visionary. I have had a radical alteration of consciousness which is not a small leap. My normal fear state is not what it used to be. I have lost it. I cannot find anything to be afraid about. Fear just comes from images in my mind. What would have ordinarily thrown me and wiped out all the good is just one thing among many now, no big deal. It does not obliterate all the rest that is present. It is just one thing. There is a lot more self-trust and sense of my own ability to be present. I see more clearly and powerfully. #RandolphHarris 1 of 3

People living in modern cultures suffer an extreme degree of alienation that was unknown in earlier times—from society, community, family, antiquated generations, nature, religion, tradition, their body, their feelings, and their humanity itself. Technology has swept over the planet like a White Squall completely illuminating and reshaping the conditions of the World. It has produced global urbanization as the primary mode of life, with the skyscraper its architectural symbol. The skyscraper condenses and makes visible the conditions of technological life. The skyscraper dominates the actual city; it now dominates the architecture of the soul as well, and at great price, for we do not know how to live with a form which by design excludes the participation of the soul. At the same time, the tremendous power of this mode of World manifestation makes it impossible to simply turn back to architectural symbols with soul—to the circle, the cave, the hut, the maze, the spiral, the village, the classic raised cottage with its fresh white paint and planted garden, with a high picket fence, gate, and a bell. In a dehumanizing techno-pagan culture that has lost sight of the deepest potentials of human nature, we are required a spirituality that can help us connect with the intrinsic power, beauty, and goodness of being human. For humanity to move forward in a beneficial direction, we are required to have a guiding vision of all that it means to be human. #RandolphHarris 2 of 3

The built environment of the technical World prohibits the spontaneous experience of soul. Skyscrapers may be spectacular, dazzling, and powerful. These buildings take control of life through their capacity to appeal to the masses because they are so architecturally stunning and modern and make great use of land. Part of the practice of finding soul again involves experiencing rage in the face of such control, but it also involves experiencing compassion for those buildings. The normal is the square—right angle means right action—decisive, clear, clean, moral, sharp, immediate, with reflection as displayed by the many windows. Right-angled mentality encourages expansion without limits because the straight line, make it appear the building reaches into infinity. Our work is to look upon all this, our actual situation, and bring in the complexity of the soul. Even in the best times, being a human is challenging and confusing, for in involves living on different planes of reality at the same time. To be fully human, then, requires cultivating a taste for paradox—an appreciation of how very different truths can be true at the same time. Indeed, it is this multi-dimensional quality of our experience that is the source of all human creativity and greatness. #RandolphHarris 3 of 3

No Steak ‘n Shake Tonight: I Feel like He is Always on My Case, Wanting to Talk All the Time!

What seemed like a good idea at the time may not have turned out well. I got a phone call last night from Kadee, and she was livid! “Listen, research money is always damn tight, and there is fierce competition for every major and minor grant, so no one’s going to be able to afford to experiment with something that has no use. Get me? Now, because I am involved here, you know feeding your face at Steak ‘n Shake was something I wanted to do. I would not squander money to make a carnival freak!” A man may be as easily starved in Leadenhall Market as in the deserts of Arabia. I have heard many cry out against sin in the pulpit who yet can abide it well in the heart, house, and conversation.” Then the line went dead. What in the name of God? #RyanPhillippe 1 of 7

When you tell your kids no, sometimes they will blame you for ruining their fun. The attraction of blame arises in early childhood as a daily occurrence in the classroom, playground, and at the house among siblings. Blame is the central issue in the endless court proceedings and lawsuits that characterize our society. In truth, blame is just another one of the negative programs that we have allowed our mind to buy because we never stop to question it. Why must something always be someone’s fault? Why must the whole concept of wrong be introduced to the situation in the first place? Why must one of us be wrong, bad, or at fault? Unfortunate events may have just happened. Those grades were not good enough to go to Steak ‘n Shake. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 7

As a parent, intense feelings of fleeting age produce a frozen past, a limited future, and a crushing present when someone you loved and raised says something to hurt your feelings. One finds less and less space, more and more constriction, few and fewer resources, more and more darkness; yet all the while, one continues to experience oneself as being the same person, you see the World through their eyes and probably understand what your kid is going through better than they do. There is the baffling question when you let your kids down, “Can I have become a different person while I am still myself?” Suddenly, your life becomes a horror movie nightmare. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 7

With the experience of aging, an open life imperceptibly merges into a limited life. Whereas there is a time when there are few if any boundaries, there comes a time when there is nothing but boundaries. Abilities change, memories fade; what one has worked so hard to create is labor lost; the end is as though there has been no beginning. Even so, however limited and exiled in the present, the person I am still remains the person I was. Children have to understand that their parents have fears and concerns, too. And, when we tell them no, it is not a punishment, but for their own good. If you get an F in a college course, that means you are deficient and I cannot allow you to celebrate delinquency. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 7

College is expensive and no parent wants their child to be stuck working to low paying jobs, although if you can, more power to you. To overcome blame, it is necessary to look at the secret satisfaction and enjoyment a child gets out of self-pity, resentment, anger, and self-excuses, and to begin to surrender all of these little payoffs. My son comes up with the most absurd excuses, his neighbors were waking him up at 2am every morning for five months and he could not sleep. His back, feet, and stomach were hurting. He had a headache. The boy just wants to stay at the house, sleep late, and watch Television. He is required to move up from being a victim of his feeling. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 7

This young man even had the nerve to tell me some crazy woman had been following him to his car and that people kept talking about his hair and pulling it. Now, I might have believed him if he was in elementary school, but college aged students do not carry on like that! Then I had my last straw, he brings my car back with a few dings in it. So I had to disassemble these excuses and to help him move out of the morass of helplessness, he cannot go anywhere until he is happy, feeling good, and gets a job. He is not even allowed to go to his mother’s house and I am restricting his phone usage. He has to overcome resistance to conform and take responsibility for his negative programs and feelings to see that he is doing this, nothing is wrong with him. #RyanPhillippe 6 of 7

It is the very nature of the smallest part of ourselves to think so negatively, so there is an unconscious tendency to agree readily to its limited viewpoint. I think he is required to become conscious of his inner greatness. It is there. Letting go of resistance is the key. Clearly, aging is a developmental process. We are born, we grow, and we mature. He assumed that he was worthless. Nonetheless, do not be too hard on your children, it could push them away. See their vulnerability, wounds, uncertainty, and subtle signals. Notice when their facial expression and energy do not match their words. Sense what he may not be saying. Sense his feeling you see in him. Make emotionally centered communication more of a priority than intellectually centered communication. #RyanPhillippe 7 of 7

No More Steak and Shake with Jay Dee—Time to Grow Up!

To have in general but little feeling, seems to be the only security against feeling too much on any particular occasion. Although when healing, we seek to pull behavior patterns away from the lopsided outer ring of the behavioral circle and move them closer toward the functioning center. Personal feeling is not always in the wrong if you boil it down to the impressions which make it simply an opinion. The feelings of the human heart are as different as the tinctures of the skin. We all have times when we need and want to be close and taken care of by others. No wonder that one idle fellow should love another. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 7

The gifts of God are to be enjoyed, when the Giver is remembered. There are some feelings which are too tender to be suffered by the World and that is why there are times when an individual also wants to be left alone and not bothered by others because we feel critical and skeptical about what is going on. Why should a man so carelessly cast himself, by giving heed to a stranger? We appeal to proper anger against what is happening. Such a balancing fosters more fully functioning. Money can only give happiness where there is nothing else to give it. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 7

The best of happiness is mine—the power and the will to be useful. My son lay in bed at my house. In preceding months, his life had grown deeply disturbing: unrelieved agony, constant confusion, the indignity of utter helplessness, and the aggravation of aggressive concern on his part to be self-sufficient canceled by his inability to be trusted to take care of anything. In an especially poignant episode, I found him crawling around in the bed agitatedly searching among the covers. When I asked what he wanted, he replied, “I am looking for my lost self.” #RyanPhillippe 3 of 7

SECRETS AND LIES
The fear of growing up can turn into a nightmare. Even if one is doing well, when a person is not living up to their expectations, one knows one is not oneself. Like that of my son, even in that pathetic condition of having lost his centeredness (I think he got an F in Economics) one is enough oneself to realize that one is not oneself. Transitioning into adulthood is a reality that comes to all. It represents the beginning of the accumulated continuity of time and living. Though growing up comes to all, it is not the same for all. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 7

Becoming an adult symbolizes the most exaggerated pain of the freedom that youth have been fighting for since they were toddlers. No more Steak and Shake with Jay Dee. When a person finally becomes an adult, it is all too obvious that adulthood is all too limiting, all too tragically pathetic. To be aged is to have to face the prospect of possibly being held responsible for anything that goes wrong and to have to be financially responsible. You are no longer living off of daddy’s checking account, you have to make your own money, pay your own rent and insurance and buy your own clothes. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 7

Until recently, becoming an adult was exciting, but all we hear about is corruption, rising rents, and that it will take two jobs just to make rent. A conspiracy of silence-curtained the youth, the brave, the “oppressed.” As just starting out, young people have often been condemned to poverty, decrepitude apartments, wretchedness from friends, and despair for the economy. Age now divides people into good versus bad as ruthlessly as ethnicity and gender has. Ageism has been added to racism and sexism. #RyanPhillippe 6 of 7

Growing up can be scary, there is no safety net, no one to pick you up if you fall. Without a saving account, if you get sick at work and have not made it through the probation period, you can get fired and end up homeless. Unfortunate events may happen in life. No mockery in this World ever sounds so hollow as that of being told to cultivate happiness. It does not good to go through life frustrating others because of his insecurities. Babies cry when something is wrong, until they discovered they have learned to speak, and then they can voice their concerns. Life is about adapting. #RyanPhillippe 7 of 7
