L’Etude Experimentale de L’intellidence

Essence and existence are not really distinct principles in things, but are merely distinguished in thought. You can figure out your age by taking your mental age, dividing it by your chronological age, and multiplying that by 100. You have been away so long that my heart hurts. It feels like it is broken. When I stand up it hurts, when I laugh it hurts. The powers of the soul are not distinct faculties; intellect is the soul understanding, will is the soul desiring and loving.  Sometimes I feel like I cannot take it anymore, sometimes I feel helpless, sometimes I feel stranded like I am washed up on the shore, but you rescue me. You take my hand, standing in the light, somehow you see the way I feel. And I am helpless in your arms, like I was helpless to a love that I had to give—to have you close to me. Sometimes when I a dreaming, I just cannot escape the fear, it always seems to find me. I run where I can hide and I cannot recognise the ghost, something lost inside me. However, when I wait until light breaks, I can feel your love embrace, caressing me, possessing me. Can you hear the thoughts I am thinking, can you feel it in your soul, do you believe that I have been slaying by a love you cannot control? #RyanPhillippe 1 of 2

The most important psychic activity of a human is willing. All human conscious activities entail some use of will. A polite greeting will turn my heartfelt blessing into sunny warmth to be branded forever on your mind. Exercise is the source of health and also the knack of longevity—may you exercise every day and live a long, long life!  The moral goodness to consist in volitional conformity to God’s will is the obligatory force of law of the Universe, and has no basis in the nature of created things, but is solely due to the fact that God has willed a certain action to be right. This is a moral and legal voluntarism, God could command that a man deceive another through a lie and he was not sin. Possible things are not absolute beings in an independent realm of ideas, but they depend for their existence on God’s understanding (not on his will). It is a part of God’s essence to think possible things as they are, but they are only insofar as God thinks them. We are Universal beings with great power and authority in the matrix within, which the individual’s Worlds and self—our essence—are determined. This World is a context that has meaning in the transcendental category of our World design.  #RyanPhillippe 2 of 2

The Words of Randolph Harris Volume I

The greatest motive I had for engaging in my pursuit of photography has been commemorating great architecture, nature, and great events in our country’s revolution. Nobody, except perhaps a Freudian psycho-analyst, could explain why a young boy should fall in love with Greek and Victorian culture. I have always loved castles and mansions and history, when I first saw a mansion with secret passage ways, hidden rooms, wood walls, French art of the period at its highest expression could be seen to absolute perfection. There were grand staircases, made of mahogany, the boiseried rooms decorated in silver and gold were quite inconceivable in their loveliness; many of the doors had a wave-like waterfall treatment, which was again echoed in some of the wall-panels, in two shades of gold, or with a greenish silver that gave variety to that more conventional shade of moonlight.  #RyanPhillippe 1 of 21

The rooms were also full of superb furniture of the date, and pictures by Watteau could surely have never found a more congenial environment, and the art glass, vaulted ceilings, and towers, it was a most stimulating and exciting experience, I knew from that very moment I wanted a Victorian mansion, and I give no sign of subsiding. These mansions gave an exaggerated view of royal power and the Imperial crown, and on the contrary, the Victorian mansion probably means more now to me than it ever did. Of course, it is also natural that I would like photography, from a trilogy, embracing the history of Royal Palaces of Europe; I got the idea of how I wanted my World to look.   While the river is a real one, and the details of the architectures and the floods, and droughts and the waning of the steamer trade are historically accurate, the modern aspects of Sacramento take away from the grand design of the city.  #RyanPhillippe 2 of 21

The cars parked on the streets, excessive signs and notices are like liter and cheapen the historical accuracy of the town. Their day will come; and in the endless river, the waters of Time shall smooth behind their wake and not a ripple mark their noisy passing. Nonetheless, Sacramento, California, USA is examined and has been carefully filled with a fascinating mixture of patriotic, religious, and cultural symbolism. Why is Washington depicted with his arms extended? Who is the woman standing at the left of the picture, and why are the children included? The bottom quarter of the picture is crowded with objects and human forms, each of them carefully chosen for what it might contribute to the painting’s overall effect.  #RyanPhillippe 3 of 21

Identify them, and explain why they are there, finally, why did the veneration of Washington in word and image take place? Photography was invented 38,000 years ago, in Africa (Namibia), in the form of etchings on rocks and art engravings on cave walls. However, the most famous of the cave art sites are Lascaux and Grotte Chauvet  (in France) and Altamira (in Spain). In the Lascaux Cave, immense wild bulls dominate what is called the Great Hall of Bulls, and horses, deer, and other animals adorn the walls in black, red, and yellow, drawn with remarkable skill, and dates back to 30,000 years ago. Equally impressive, at Altamira, the walls and ceiling of an immense cave are filled with superb portrayals of bison in red and black, the photographer or artist, taking advantage of bulges to give a sense of relief to the paintings.  #RyanPhillippe 4 of 21

On the famous Narmer palette, which is held in the Cairo Museum, a similar scene diptychs the King as a bull trampling an opponent, and the other side of the palette displays prisoners attached to hieroglyphic signs, which dates back to 3500-3300 BC.  The cave is a treasure of beautiful and exceptional dimensions, whose meaning has been a powerful instigator of both curiosity and malaise, especially among the educated community. And in Ancient Egypt, which is also located in North Africa, the hieroglyphs, on the walls of the pyramids, there are bull palette, which depicts a victorious King, in the form of a bull trampling his enemy. Below are this are plans of two towns with crenellated walls, one of which is very fragmentary and inside the fortified town, two hieroglyphs have been sculpted, which are among the oldest forms of writing by the use of photographs and messages (hieroglyphs).  #RyanPhillippe 5 of 21

These hieroglyphs give the name of an ancient town. The image of the king, in the form of a bull, was perpetuated throughout Egyptian history. Indeed, the Powerful Bull became one of the attributes and ceremonial names of the pharaoh. The Hierakonpolis paintings in the tomb of Prince of Hierakonpolis, that Egyptologists discovered the oldest Egyptian wall paintings. The walls of the tomb are constructed of mud brick covered with plaster. The west walls of the tomb, the architect used one side of the low wall, dividing the tomb were decorated with black, red, and white walls photographs   (cave wall art), that stood out from the yellow ochre background. The boats, surrounded by confronting warriors and hunters, are identical to those on terracotta vases and cosmetic palettes.  The sudden appearances of such monumental language through the use of cave art, the first photographs, were truly starling discovery. Even now that we know their nature, cave art is capable of lighting up the past, like the moon, in the sky, at night with great complexity, producing an eye opening story, this surly heightens our fascination the original photojournalism. #RyanPhillippe 6 of 21

In 1839, of the nineteenth-century, modern photography was invented, in America, and expanded the delicate visual beauty and imaginative aura of mystery that has always surrounded the Universe. For the first time, Americans could visually see images of people, places, and incidents from far away. Photographs, of course, also expand the boundaries of the historian’s and the photographer’s, World, as it obviously attracts the most attention from the devotees and the public, in general. Events are now visible immediately with peak visibility, in the past, often limited to the specific moment only. Now people could see how Americans celebrated weddings, birthdays, funerals and lived everyday life, and what their families, houses, and cities looked like. Pictures of election campaigns, parades, strikes, and wars show the texture of public life.  #RyanPhillippe 7 of 21

However, historians and photojournalist can also study photographs, as they do paintings, to glean information about the attitudes, culture, education, and typical behavior of the environment and citizens and the climate and echo system. The choice of a subject, for a photograph, the way in which people and objects are arranged and grouped, and the relationships between people, in photographs, are all clues to the social, political, religious, legal, moral, and family values of the nineteenth-century Americans. Some knowledge of the early history of photography helps place the visual evidence in the proper perspective. The earliest type of modern American photograph, the daguerreotype, was not a print, but the negative itself on a sheet of silver-plated copper. The first daguerreotype required between 15 and 30 minutes for the proper exposure. This accounts for stiff and formal quality of many of those photographs.  #RyanPhillippe 8 of 21

Glass ambrotypes (negatives on glass) and tintypes (negatives on gray iron bases), developed after the daguerreotype, were easier and cheaper to produce. However, all things are best at the beginning, both techniques produced only one picture and required what to us would seem an interminable time for exposure. Every life has its natural burden: it is therefore a blessing for mortals if they can lay all the weight of future days on the beginning of their career, in order to exempt thereby the evening of their journey from the pressure of sorrow. Our beginnings show us what our end will be. A major breakthrough came in the 1850s with the development of the wet-plate process; the foundation of my new life was not the superstructure. #RyanPhillippe 9 of 21

Nevertheless, in this new phototherapy process, the photographer coated a glass negative with a sensitive solution, exposed the negative (i.e., took the picture), and then quickly developed it. Dandyism is an attempt to assert the absolute modernity of beauty. Sometimes I have believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.  The new procedure required a relatively short exposure time, of perhaps five seconds, outdoors, and one minute inside. Action shots, however, were still not feasible. Let not them that speak fairest be believed soonest. The entire process tied the photographer to the darkroom. Traveling photographers carried their darkrooms with them. The advantage of the wet-plate process was that it was possible to make many paper prints from one negative, opening new commercial vistas for professional photographers. #RyanPhillippe 10 of 21

The-Good-Doctor-Orlando-Bloom-Buen-Doctor-2012 Reuben Harris, Sr., was a fashionable Washington photographer, realizing that the camera was the eye of history, and asked Lincoln for permission to record the war with his camera. He and his team of photographers left about 10,451 glass negatives, currently stored in the Library of Congress and the National Archives, as their record of the Civil War. There was a Confederate soldier captured at Gettysburg, the other of the battlefield of Cold Harbor, in Virginia. Photographs allow the audience to study and visualize how things are poses, what kind of clothes are fashionable, what type of equipment is being used, what seems to be the physical condition?  Using this photograph as evidence, what might you conclude about the southern soldier—his equipment, uniforms, shoes? How well fed do the men in the picture appear? What attitudes are conveyed through their facial expressions and poses? Finally, what kind of mood was the northern photographer trying to create, in the photosphere?  #RyanPhillippe 11 of 21

What might a northern viewer conclude about the South’s effort to keep peace after looking at this photograph? Some of these photographs dated back to April of 1865, about a year after the battle at Cold Harbor. In the background, you can see two Union Soldiers digging graves. In the foreground are the grisly remains of the battle. What do you think is the intent of the photograph? The choice of subject matter shows clearly that photographer reveals attitudes as well as facts.  What attitude toward war and death is conveyed in this pictures? Why is the burial taking place a full years after the battle? What does this tell us about the nature of Civil Warfare? Notice that the soldiers ordered to undertake this ghastly chore are African American and European American, as was customary. What might this scene suggest about the experience of soldiers in the Union Army? These photographs just begin to suggest what can be discovered from old photographs.  #RyanPhillippe 12 of 21

Your local historical society and library probably have photograph collections available to you. In addition, at home or in a relative’s attic, you may find visual records of your family and its history. Our beginnings are lost in clouds; we live in darkness all our days, and perish without end. The most apprehensive beginnings make the happiest conclusions. The intrinsic luminosity and depth, in Randolph Harris’s photography is exceptional. The style should be so effective, that is, it shows feeling. It is curious and carefully highly, finely wrought, and most witty, with many turns and conceits of geometric positioning. For example, those of 302, 1106, 1402, 1680, 1843, 1882, and 1965 got close enough to the Sun to be visible in broad daylight. The photographs display fascinating heavenly images.  #RyanPhillippe 13 of 21

To be, or not to be, I there is the point, to Die, to sleepe, is that all? I all: No, to sleepe, to dreame, I mary there it goes, for in that dreame of death, when wee awake, and borne before an euer;asting Judge, from whence no passenger euer, retur’nd, the vndiscouered country, at whose sight the happy smile, and the accursed damn’d. The critic can then show, by comparison, how the prior effort has been transformed into a Randolph masterpiece. However, if the current view of the most textual critics is correct, the process is the other way around, and the evidence is no evidence for Randolph Harris at work. It is not that prior effort has been transformed by Randolph Harris, however, that Randolph Harris has  not been mercilessly transformed nor corrupted by others.  #RyanPhillippe 14 of 21

For there is fairly general agreement that the photographs are reconstructions from memory of authentic architecture, which existed in his home land; shall I believe that vnsubstantiall death is amorous, and that the leane abhorred monster keeps thee here in the darke to be his paramour? For feare of that I still will staie with thee, and never from this pallat of dym night. The visual data that comes from photographs can be turned into information, by the viewer, when they translate the subject and environment. Photojournalist are foremost informational, and cameras record the World around us, and the history of the camera is a technology that is increasingly sophisticated and expertise.  #RyanPhillippe 14.5 of 21

Photography began with still images and added motion, to the silent moving images was next laced with sound, and called the talkie, which then color was introduced to. And film developed in its audience a taste for live action, with vivid stories, a taste satisfied by live television transmission, video images that allow us to view anything happening in the Universe, as it is happening. The questions that historians ask are limited only by their imagination and the historical evidence left behind for them to study. We have seen how historians use different kinds of written evidence, such as household inventories, and Indian treaties, as well as material artifacts like tombstones and house designs. They also study visual evidence such as paintings, photographs, and sculpture, for these, too, can provide insight into the life and culture of the past.  #RyanPhillippe 15 of 21

During the revolutionary era and the early national Victorian period, American artist employed painting and other visual arts to record the great events of the nation’s founding. John Trumbull, for instance, secured a commission from Congress, in the early nineteenth century to prepare a series of historical canvasses. Grand in conception and scale, the four paintings that he completed—depicting the signing of the declaration of Independence, the surrender of General Burgoyne at Saratoga and Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown, and Washington resigning his commission, at the end of the war in 1783—now hanging in the rotunda of the nation’s Capital, in Washington D.C. When junkets are proposed, some organizations send reporters only if they can pay the fare and other expenses. I pay all the expenses and produce my materials on my own millions.  #RyanPhillippe 16 of 21

Even on chartered trips, such as accompanying a sports swim team, or hitchhiking on a State Police plane, we insist on being billed for our pro-rata share of the expenses. An exception is made by some news organizations for trip they could not possibly arrange on their own, such as covering a two-month coronation, of the head of Wittelsbach House of Bavaria, Prince Albrect, Duke of Bavaria, being seated at Nymphenburg, the Baroque palace outside Munich. Some media organizations address the issue of impropriety by acknowledging favors. Many of my essays have promotional considered provided by companies that are supportive. Moral decision-making is rooted in conscience, which makes it highly individual. Attempts to bring order to moral issues in journalism and the mass media have included codes of ethics.  #RyanPhillippe 17 of 21

These codes identify behaviors that are recognized as ethically troublesome, but because they are generalized statements, the codes cannot anticipate all situations. These is no substitute for human reason and common sense. Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters. To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people is a chimerical idea. The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy the gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people; then shall we both deserve and enjoy it. While, on the other hand, if we are universally vicious and debauched in our manners, though the form of our Constitution carries the face of the most exalted freedom, we shall in reality be the most abject slaves of this fiat currency and these landlords because your mind program is locked in and determined to be a consumer.  #RyanPhillippe 18 of 21

IMG_soqqwrHowever, our United States Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. Other misfortunes may be borne, or their effect overcomes. If disastrous war should sweep our commerce from the ocean, another generation may renew it; if it exhausts our treasury, future industry may replenish it; if it desolate and lay water our fields, still, under a new cultivation, they will grow greener, and stronger to future harvest. It were but a trifle if the walls of yonder capitol were to crumble, if its lofty pillars were to fall, and its gorgeous decorations be all covered by the dust of the valley. All these might be rebuilt.  #RyanPhillippe 19 of 21

jynhtbgrfHowever, who shall reconstruct the fabric of demolished government? Who shall rear again the well- proportioned columns of constitutional liberty? Who shall frame together the skillful architecture which unites National American sovereignty with the States rights, individual security, and public prosperity? No, if these columns fall, they will be raised not again. Like the Coliseum and the Parthenon, they will be destined to a mournful, a melancholy immortality. Bitter tears, however, will flow over them, than were ever shed over the monuments of Roman or Grecian art; for they will be the remnants of a more glorious edifice then Greece or Rome ever saw—the edifice of Constitutional American Liberty. #RyanPhillippe 20 of 21

The World is full of religion, and full of misery and crime. We call in question the understanding of a man when he wrongs us; and say, if he had the reflection of a reasonable being, he would have conducted himself in a different manner. And yet the consideration that he had not reflected does not mitigate, but increases our resentment. It is sad that we live in times where parents’ behavior is like one of your friends off the streets or a peer. As your children, even if they are grown, we expect a lot more from you all as elders.  Since our communication is not so great, and my family never makes me happy, I am cutting ties with them. No one is immune to stress. Nevertheless, it is reassuring to know that managing stress can help protect your immune system and your health. In order to reduce hostility, you must find ways to reduce how often you feel anger, indignation, irritation, and rage, and you also need to be kinder and more considerate.  #RyanPhillippe 21 of 21

Am I Okay or in Trouble?

Health is not just an absence of disease. People who are truly healthy enjoy a positive state of wellness or well-being. If you are in a situation where you experience on going stress and it is impacting your health, and no one is doing anything to correct the problem, no matter how much you love some of your coworkers, or friends, you have to move on. I do not want stomach cancer or anything like that from stressing about something I cannot control. When emotional shocks are intense or repeated, unpredictable, uncontrollable, and are linked to pressure, stress will be magnified and damage is like to result. Yes, people generally feel more stress in situations over which they have little or no control. For example, Douglas DeGood subjected college students to an unpleasant shock-avoidance task. Some students were allowed to select their own rest periods, while others rested at times selected for them. Participants allowed to control their own rest periods showed lower stress levels (as measure by blood pressure) than those given a choice.  Stress is not always bad. To be totally without stress is to be dead. As noted earlier, stress is the mental and physical condition that occurs when a person must adjust or adapt to the environment. Unpleasant events such as work pressures, martial problems, or financial woes naturally produce stress. However, so do travel, sports, a new job, mountain climbing, dating, and other beneficial activities. Even if you are not a thrill seeker, a healthy lifestyle may include a fair amount of eustress (good stress). Eustress can be energizing. Activities that provoke good stress are usually experiences as challenge and rewarding. A stress reaction begins with the same autonomic nervous system arousal that occurs during emotion. Imagine standing at the top of a wind-whipped ski jump for the very first time.

Internally, there would be a rapid surge in your hate rate, blood pressure, respiration, muscle tension, and other ANS responses. Short-term stresses of this kind can be uncomfortable, but they rarely do damage. (Your landing might be another matter, however.)  Warning signs of stress that are emotional include anxiety, apathy, irritability, mental fatigue. Behavioral signs of stress are avoidance of responsibilities and relationships, extreme or self-destructive behavior, self-neglect, and poor judgment. Physical signs of stress are excessive worry about illness, frequent illness, and exhaustion, overuse of medication, and physical ailments and complaints. Other than when it is long lasting, why is stress sometimes damaging and sometimes not? Stress reactions are complex. Let us examine some of the chief factors that determine whether or not stress is harmful. When is stress a strain? It goes almost without saying that some events are more likely to cause stress than others. A stressor is a condition or event in the environment that challenges or threatens a person. Reporters, for instance, suffer from a high rate of stress-related diseases.  The threat of injury or death, plus occasional confrontations with drunk or belligerent citizens, takes a toll.  A major factor here is the unpredictable nature of journalism. A reporter never knows when they go to cover a story or an active crime scene if a cooperative citizen or an armed gang member is waiting for them. In 2014, 60 journalists were killed. Some reporters are being irresponsible in getting the media caught up in a cross and others are good reporters and just get caught in bad situations. Pressure is another element in stress, especially job stress. Pressure occurs when a person must meet urgent external demands or expectations. For example, we feel pressured when activities must be speeded up, when deadlines must be met, when extra work is added unexpectedly, or when we must work near maximum capacity for long periods. However, maintaining wellness is a life-long pursuit and, hopefully, productive work that is enjoyed.

People who attain optimal wellness are both physically and psychologically healthy. They engage in good thought patterns, show emotional resilience, and they are optimistic and self-confident. People with a sense of well-being also have supportive relationships with others, do meaningful work, and live in a clean environment. Many of these aspects of wellness are present in people who are in a loving state of mind. Understanding stress, and learning to control it, can improve not only your health, but the quality of your life as well. So I do not want to be in a place where I am harassed and disrespected. In is a new year, and if you have warned people, but they are not listening to you, let them go. This does not need to be a repeat of last year. There is something wrong with those people for them to be so mean. They are in pain and want to project it on you and cause dysfunction in your life. However, as soon as you let them go, others who want to help you will come into your life. What does it mean to feel threatened by a stressor? Certainly in daily situations it does not mean you think your life is in danger. (Unless, of course, you own money to Lucious Lyon or Enrico the Enforcer.) Threat has more to do with the idea of the control. We are particularly prone to feel stressed when we cannot—or think we cannot control our immediate environment. In short, a perceived lack of control is just as threatening as an actual lack of control. If your answer to the question is, “What can I do about this situation? Is “nothing,” you will feel emotionally stressed. A sense of control also comes from believing you can reach desired goals. It is threatening to feel that we lack competence to cope with life’s demands. Thus, the intensity of the body’s stress reaction often depends on what we think and tell ourselves about stressors. That is why it is valuable to learn to think in ways that ward off the body’s stress response. Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire. Not a root or a branch will be left to them, says the Lord Almighty.

The Sudden Astonishment—But He has Long been Dead!

It is right to be prepared for all things, and if trouble is sent, to remember as it is not sent without a cause. At a New Year’s Eve dinner the host, the patriarch of the family, ushered in the New Years with a speech. One of his sons-in-law, a lawyer, was not inclined to take the antiquated man seriously, especially when in the course of his speech he expressed himself as follows: “When I open the ledger of the Old Year and glance at its pages I see everything on the asset side and nothing, thank the Lord, on the side of liability; all you children have been a great asset, none of you a liability.” On hearing this the young lawyer thought of X., his wife’s brother, who was a cheat and a liar, and whom he had recently extricated from the entanglements of the law. That night, in a dream, he saw the New Year’s celebration once more, and heard the speech, or rather saw it. Instead of speaking, the antiquated man actually opened the ledger, but on the side marked “assets” he saw his name amongst others, but on the other side, marked “liability,” there was the name of his brother-in-law, X. However, the word “Liability” was changed into “Lie-Ability,” which he regarded as X’s main characteristic. The presence of a noble nature, generous in its wishes, ardent in its charity, changes the lights for all of us.  #RandolphHarris 1 of 7

To stand after one’s death before one’s children great and undefiled: who would not wish that? If there were only one body in existence there could be no idea of motion, for motion is the change of position of two bodies relative to one another. Thus sensible qualities, without which there could be no bodies, are essential to the very conception of movement. Furthermore, since sensible qualities are passive existences, and hence bodies are too, movement cannot have it source in body; and as we know what it is to move our own bodies, we know that the source of motion must be found in the mind. Created spirits are responsible for only a small part of the movement in the World, and therefore God, the infinite spirit, must be its prime source. A man who nursed his father during his last illness, and who felt his death very keenly, dreamed some time afterwards that his father was again living, and conversing with him as usual, but (and this was the remarkable thing) he has nevertheless dies, though he did not know it. So too our conception of time is inseparable from our ideas in our minds and from the [articular actions and ideas that diversify the day.  #RandolphHarris 2 of 7

The young man who thought that he was having a conversation with his father was experiencing hypostatized abstraction, which is the belief in humankind’s eternal advance, and to disavow anything that does not fit this preordained vision. And so natural philosophy either presupposed the knowledge of God or borrows it from some superior science. The thesis that God is the ultimate source of motion is a special case of the principle that the only real cause are spirits. This principle has the general consequence, of course, the inanimate bodies cannot act causally upon one another. What are called natural causes are really signs of what follows them. Fire does not cause heat, but is so regularly followed by it that it is a reliable sigh of it as long as “the Author of Nature always operates uniformly.” The kinship of human passion, the sameness of mortal scenery, inevitably touches the heart and charms them.  Must like the Crusades had their origin in a great impulse, and in a certain sense, led to great results, amidst the conditions of an imperfect social state, great feelings will often take the aspect of error, and great faith the aspect of illusion.  #RandolphHarris 3 of 7

Natural laws describe but do not explain, for real explanations must be reference to the aims and purposes of spirits, that is, in terms of final causes. The dream of the man talking to his dead father is intelligible if, after he had nevertheless died, we insert in the consequence of the dreamer’s wish, and if after but he did not know it, we add that the dreamer had entertained the really compassionate thought that it would be a good thing if his father, was by miracle of God, well again. Because God is all powerful and can do supernatural things, mechanical explanations of movements in terms of attraction are misleading, unless it is recognized that they merely recorded the rates at which bodies in fact approach one another. While he was mourining his father’s death, this compassionate wish became an unconscious reproach to heal from the traumatic loss of his father. As a general thing, the dreams of a deceased person of whom the dreamer has been fond confront the interpreter with difficult problems, the solution of which is not always satisfying. The reason for this may be sought in the especially pronounced ambivalence of feeling which controls the relation of the dreamer to the dead person.  #RandolphHarris 4 of 7

After the loss of his father and tumultuous years afterwards, the dreamer felt like his heart was bleeding and would have pains in his heart when stretching and if he laughed from watching a funny movie.  In such situations, it could be the minds ways of trying to preserve the dreamer’s body by producing an image of the deceased person to be treated at first as living; then it suddenly appears that he is dead; and in the continuation of the dream he is once more living. This has a confusing effect. However, gravity or to force when these are regarded as explanations of the movements of the body do not deny the importance of Newton’s laws, for Newton did not regard gravity as a true physical quality, but only as a mathematical hypothesis. I at last divined that this alternation of death and life is intended to represent the wish of the dreamer (“It is all one to me whether he is alive or dead, as long as I can see him and talk to him.”) This manifestation is very intense and emotional and he rejects the idea that his father is dead. Forces and attractions are not found in nature but are useful constructions in the formulation of theories from which deductions can be made about what is found in nature, that is, sensible qualities or ideas.  #RandolphHarris 5 of 7

People have observed the intense bond of attachment that usually develops between a parent and their child, a bond that a mother or father enables one to pick up a hurt or frightened child and rapidly eliminate all external signs of pain and fear. So it is plausible that if someone feeds into a delusion of a person in mouring, they might believe that their father or another loved one has come back to life. We laugh at educated adults who pay large sums to go and play youthful games of touching and hug in scientific institutes, and we fail to see the signs. It is surely an extraordinary sign of our times that adults feel the need to relieve their loneliness by going to scientific institutes, and that they should need scientists to legitimize human intimacy. When a loved one dies and a person feels all alone, the human spirit is in distress and they are willing to believe almost anything if it would bring their loved one back. Someone preying on people who have lost a family member are despicable. Especially if that individual has moved beyond the pain and young come back only to remind them of how much it hurt to lose a father. We do not live in a solitary or purely objective World, nor can we live in isolation. We must learn to live together or increase our chances of dying prematurely.  #RandolphHarris 6 of 7

Aristotle pointed out long ago that, “a man wholly solitary would be either a God or a brute.” There is a brutality in many modern human relationships that directly stems from their very objectivity and pervasiveness of such relationships in our culture is an omnipresent testimony to our interpersonal brutality. A purely objective relationship between two human beings can be brutal precisely because it is detached from human feelings—it is a relationship that by definition creates distance, loneliness, and estrangement, and which can, at its worst, permit completely inhumane actions. Medicine, as an adviser to our society, can help restore respect for the healing power of human companionship and can help people see that they too can prevent and cure loneliness—induced disease by simply caring for one another. Foggy-eyed romanticists might want to believe that a loved one will come back from the dead, and the Bible preaches that one day they will. However, be wise enough to know that anyone who loves you would not torment and use and abuse you and laugh at you in their distress, while boasting about how good their life is, and watching you suffering. We must learn that healing is an affair of the heart.  #RandolphHarris 7 of 7

Sowell 12205 Imperial Avenue—Even Personal Experiences May Support a Stereotype

Insight is most useful in our struggles to work puzzles, mazes, math problem, logic problems, and other complicated bits of thinking. A prejudice is a vagrant opinion without visible means of support. The idea of a triangle, which is neither oblique nor rectangle, neither equilateral, equicrural, nor scalenon, but all and none of these at once does not seem logical because any actual triangle must be one of these types and cannot possibly be all and none of them. We think in generalities, but we live in detail. What makes any idea general is not any abstract feature that may be alleged to belong to it, but rather its being used to represent all other ideas that are like it in the relevant respects. Thus, if something that is true of a triangle of one of these types is not true of it because it is of that one type, then it is true of all triangles whatever. Nothing exists but what is particular, and particulars ideas become general by being used as representatives of others like them. Generally, we might say, is a symbolic device, not a metaphysical status. One whose vision is defective always sees less than those with good eyesight; but one who is hard of hearing always hears something extra.  #RandolphHarris 1 of 9

Nothing exists but what is particular, and nothing can exist on its own except what can be sensed or imagined on its own.  In the area of human relations, we find generalizations going on all the time. And while we can sit back and say it is unscientific or silly, nonetheless it goes on and it is the cause for a lot of serious conflicts between people. Anthony Edward Sowell was born 19 August 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio USA. Anthony Sowell spent seven years in the Marine Corps and received a Good Conduct Medal with one service star, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, a Certificate of Commendation, and a Meritorious Mast, and two Letters of Appreciation. However, in 1989, Anthony Sowell started acting strange. A woman who was then three month pregnant went to hang out with Anthony Sowell at his house and when she tried to leave, he bound her hands and feet with a tie and belt, then gagged her with a rag, and choked her real hard, until her body started tingling. She thought she was going to die. Anthony was charged with kidnapping, rape, and attempted rape, and he eventually pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted rape, and served 15 years in prison. He was released in 2005 and displayed good behavior while incarcerated.  #RandolphHarris 2 of 9

After release from prison, Anthony Sowell lived in a Victorian duplex at 12205 Imperial Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio USA. It was a nice three story craftsman bungalow style house. Anthony Sowell would lurk around the neighborhood looking for women to prey on. He would usually pick up young, attractive women, who had self-esteem issues and hardships while growing up and charm them, invite them back to his house, get them hooked on drugs and then choke them to death. Several women in the community came up missing and there were reports of foul smells in the area of Anthony Sowell’s house, but Ray’s Sausage Shop was located next door to the residence, so people just assumed it was the butcher’s shop stinking, and the owners thought so, too and dug up the sewer lines and had then replaced, at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars. Anthony Sowell preyed on women who people thought were drug attics and prostitutes because if they went missing for a while, people would think that they were getting high and would return when they ran out of money. Nonetheless, one woman reported that Anthony Sowell choked her and tried to rape her and dragged her into his house, but no one believed her, so there was no investigation.  #RandolphHarris 3 of 9

Insight is like a sudden flash of light flooding into a darkened room, a quick and spontaneous illumination that provides the answer to the problem we are working on. The entire community knew something was wrong because women would go into 12205 Imperial Avenue all the time and no one would ever see them again. On one occasion, a man called the police when he saw Anthony Sowell push a woman out the second story window, as she laid on the ground. Anthony Sowell even went to the hospital and said they were doing drugs and she fell out of the window and police thought nothing of it. Although several women had reported being attacked, and went missing, and there was a foul smell near the house, police were told not to waste resources investigating because the women were prostitutes and drug attics. Even when police would investigate the disappearances, the police said they were not welcomed, the families did not care, and so they did nothing further. Anthony Sowell eventually killed 11 women. All they could find of one woman was her head in a bucket in the basement. And the house was full of bodies, as well as the garden and the butcher’s shop suspected that Anthony Sowell even used their dumpster to discard of the bodies. #RandolphHarris 4 of 9

Is it not in the dark that one best perceives the light? When people are free to do what they want, they usually imitate each other. In September of 2009, Anthony Sowell invited a woman he knew to his house for a drink. On 22 September 2009, she reported to police that after a few drinks, he became angry, hit her, choked her, and raped her as she passed out. On 29 October 2009, when police arrived at Anthony Sowell’s house with a warrant to arrest him for the alleged rape, he was not there at the time, but police found two bodies on the floor in the living room, and four other women were found in the basement. Most of the eleven victims were killed by manual strangulation and many still had ligatures or gag on their bodies when they were discovered. Anthony Sowell had raped at least three other women, who got away, but never reported the attacks because of their prior drug history or for other personal reasons. Anthony Sowell was known as a drug user in the community, and had lived at the house of four years when he was arrested. #RandolphHarris 5 of 9

After being apprehended by authorities, Anthony Sowell tried to play mentally unwell and say that he was dreaming and had no idea what he was doing, but could remember the dreams and that he had a hard life growing up and could not be held responsible for his crimes. This was a ploy so he could escape the death penalty and spend the rest of his life in a state mental institution.  However, the judge noted that Anthony Sowell had a good track record in the Military and when he was in prison the first time, so he knew this man knew how to behave, and although Anthony Sowell had some psychological problems, he could control himself and was aware of what he was doing. Anthony Sowell was charged with eleven counts of aggravated murder and over 70 counts of rape, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but later changed his pleas to simply not guilty. On 22 July 2011, Another Sowell was convicted on all but two counts against him and is currently on death row at Chillicothe Correctional Institution, and the community had his house torn down. A memorial for the victims is supposed to be constructed on the land, but nothing has been erected yet.  #RandolphHarris 6 of 9

People are not triangles, when we generalize about someone, apply that attitude of people “like him,” or “like her,” and use that generalization as the image or symbol for a whole group, that is stereotyping. Generalizing is a handy way of lumping things together for easy reference; we all do it at one time or another. We may even fall into the easy temptation of identifying all members of a particular ethic group, community, racial group or by gender or profession by the oversimplified symbols of a stereotype. This type of stereotyping gave Anthony Sowell a license to kill and get away with rape. The entire community knew what was going on, but no one would do a thorough investigation until eleven women had been killed and one escaped and lived to tell her story, even though a woman had reported him to the police in the past, before the body count was so high. However, that other woman was dismissed because she was labeled as a drug attic and prostitute and the number of missing women was not as high at that point. All lives are of equal value and if the cases had been investigated, these women would still be alive.  #RandolphHarris 7 of 9

CjhbP6PUgAE-ixDEven if someone is a drug attic and a prostitute, when they go missing that means something is wrong. In the state of Ohio, five people a day have fatal overdoses from using heroin. By 29 August 2016, 174 heroin overdoses were reported in six days. That is alarming. A lot of this heroin is mixed with elephant tranquilizers and is said to have caused 60 overdoes across two states in just 48 hours. In the year 2016, there were 65,345 deaths from opioids. Opioids are classes of drugs that include the illicit drug heroin, as well as the illicit prescription pain relievers oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, morphine, fentanyl, and others drugs. I bet some of these people who are labeled as drug attics and prostitutes wish the police had come looking for them or that their family cared enough to make phone calls and knocked on doors to find out where they were because they would still be alive. Nonetheless, even privileged men, women, and children are victims of overdoses from drugs and other crimes. And many of you think weed (marijuana) is cool, but it is not. A lot of people who deal marijuana end up getting shot and robbed. And there is marijuana out there that is laced with other chemicals and one hit from a joint could cause permanent brain damage or death.  #RandolphHarris 8 of 9

ghjk For many people, they want to get high and traditional marijuana is not enough for them anymore and that is why it is called a gateway drug. It opens the door for people to want to try different drugs or be around people who will influence them to try something new. And now there is a drug that is called “Shatter,” which is a weed concentrate that is far more intense because it packs up to 80 percent more cannabinoid content. Serious drug users who have tried Shatter, said after three hits, they felt like they were moon walking. And Shatter is extremely dangerous to make because of how it is processed and the production can cause an entire city block to explode. So, just think about stereotypes and drugs before you do them. And, be aware that even assuming good stereotypes about a person could leave you at a disadvantage to get hurt or suffer a loss of property. Some of our social perceptions actually cause people to act in certain ways.  Anthony Sowell is now known as the Cleveland Strangler, and maybe some of those women just needed someone to believe in them and love them unconditionally. Some people live up to stereotypes because it is easier or more profitable to go along with what is expected.  #RandolphHarris 9 of 9

Four Page Letter–Perspectival Distortions and in the Existence of Sensible Qualities

People are brainwashed by the media, but ignore God and do not practice the love of God. However, a big part of faith is trusting God when one does not understand why things happen the way they do. The real original and permanent existence of things is archetypal, being ideas in mente Divina, and our ideas of copies of them. You know that feeling you get when someone spends years hearting your heart over and over and you feel the beating slow down and get deeper, until eventually there is a sharp pain in your chest that does not seem to go away and you can feel it when you move, laugh, or breathe? I do not know what it is yet, but am going to find out soon enough. It has been lingering for a few weeks. Humans perceive ideas vary in accordance with their sense organs, and their ideas vary in accordance with their position, condition, but God does not have sense organs. Furthermore, some ideas, for example, those of heat and cold and sensation of smell and taste—are inseparable from sensation of pain and pleasure, but God is impassible, i.e., not subjected to feeling of emotions; hence he cannot be supposed to perceive ideas of this nature. The things one perceives they or their archetypes, must, since ode does not case them, have an existence outside one’s mind. The ideas in God’s mind are not the same ideas as those in the minds of embodied percipients.  #RandolphHarris 1 of 9

I have the honour to be known unto you, the many delightful how I have passed in your aggregable and improving conversation, have afforded me the opportunity of discovering in you many excellent qualities, which a once fill me with admiration and esteem. That one at those years, and in those circumstances of wealth and greatness, should continue to proof against the charms of luxury, and those criminal pleasures, so fashionable and predominant in the age we live. That he should preserve a sweet and modest behaviour, free from that insolent and assuming air, so familiar to those who are placed above the ordinary rank of men. That he should manage a great fortune with that prudence and inspection, and at the same time, expend it with that generosity and nobleness of mind, as to shew himself equally remote, from a sordid parsimony, and a lavish, inconsiderate profusion of the good things he is intrusted with. This, surely, were admirable and praise-worthy. However, that he should moreover by an impartial exercise of his reason, and constant perusal of the sacred scriptures, endeavour to attain a right notion of the principles of natural and revealed humanity.  #RandolphHarris 2 of 9

We live in a World were gays can get married and little boys have been brainwashed to think they are girls in the wrong body. A lot of propaganda has been taken as truth and people assume and use social media to spy and people and assume they know what is going on in their lives, but do not face the realities in from of them. You have to realize that the media does brainwash people, you hear things over and over on TV and start to believe it is true. For instance, a little girl was recently on TV saying she checked something off of her bucket list. The term “bucket list” is an idiom which is defined as a list of things to do before you die or kick the bucket. This term bucket list became really popular in 2007 when the film “The Bucket List” came out. It is a movie about two terminally ill men that escape from a cancer ward with a wish list of things to do before they die. The eight-year-old girl that I was speaking of is not terminally ill, but already has a bucket list because she does not understand what it is, and because she has heard the term so much, she thinks it is normal for kids to have a bucket list instead of goals, dreams, or aspirations. So, it is also possible that the little boy who believes he is in the wrong body is also brainwashed.  #RandolphHarris 3 of 9

A month after joining the Cub Scouts, a transgender boy in Secaucus, New Jersey USA was kicked out of his Cub Scout’s group because he is not a natural born male. After his mother, Kristie Maldonado, allowed her daughter to cut her hair short and dress as a boy, Joe Maldonado, a girl, came out as a boy and signed up to be in an all-boys group. When other parents found out that Joe had a gender identity issue, they wanted the child removed for the Cub Scouts because he is not a real boy, he does not have a penis. And that is understandable. It is possible that Joe is just brainwashed by the media because World famous men are coming out and saying they are women and having gender reassignments. After hearing the cliché “I was trapped in the wrong body,” so frequently, some kids may start to believe it is true. The thing is children are not mature enough to make decisions about sexuality nor gender and it may just be a phase they are going through. I have friends who were gay when they were teens, but are not married to women and have families. And conversely, I know some men who were heterosexual and married and had children and are now moderate to flamboyant homosexuals.  #RandolphHarris 4 of 9

Nonetheless, I do believe that transgender people are human and do have a voice and should be protected, but it is something that they need to do after they are adults because they may find out that they are confused and change their minds. I have also seen a group of people, who seem to have mental issues, spend over a decade calling a young man, who is a natural born man, a girl, and the rumors became so pervasive that it led to that young man getting seriously injured and physically forced into a situation. And everyone who sees he can tell that he is a guy, but this group of mentally ill adults have an agenda. Nonetheless, I recently watched an episode of “Law and Order” and there was this transgender man, who dressed as a girl, and actually really looked like a girl. Had long hair and a pretty typical girl’s body, with the thin legs, and thin frame. That transgender person was called Eva (I think, but am not certain), and fell in love with a rapper and they were dating on the down low, but this rappers manager her the person called Eva beat to death because they rapper was about to become a major celebrity and would have ruined his image to be dating a transgender person. And I think that aspect is sad because they individual known as Eva was actually in the wrong body and killed because of it.  #RandolphHarris 5 of 9

Some people are confused, others are brainwashed, some are slandered, and many know who they are as people. I just wonder what kind of World is it that we live in where people are paid to go to work and slander an individual and put that person’s life in danger and not get fired or arrested for their crimes? A lot of the people I am around are older than myself and very immature, it is almost like they think life is some kind of game and they are constantly running around acting and acting out and that seems to be the normal thing to do, in this community, for that group of people. They do not seem to understand that they are hysterical and all suffer from a mental illness. Could you imagine being trapped in a situation like that? It is not a common state of mind in the community, it is just a group of people in the media and local government and community have been terrorizing an individual and think it is fun, and others are well aware of it. However, the group of people think the rumors they are spreading is a big secret and refuse to acknowledge the crimes they have commit or what they are doing wrong. Perhaps someday law enforcement will figure out what is going on and gather enough evidence and prosecute them. Being robbed of ten years of your life and being slandered and injured is not fun.  #RandolphHarris 6 of 9

Nonetheless, other than that pack of maniacs, the community and the individual are actually pretty normal. The perceptible, therefore, is limited to the mind-dependent, and, the very notion of something that might be perceived, but is not, is unacceptable. Whatever is not being actually perceived by humans beings, but is only perceptible by them, must be an object of perception by some other spirit. Now some of our ideas, namely, ideas of imagination, we ourselves produce, but others, the ideas of sense, come to us without our willing them. There is therefore some other will or spirit that produced them. That this is God may be concluded from the regular order in which these ideas come to us. The knowledge we have of God is analogous to the knowledge we have of others people. Since humans are active spirits, we do not have ideas of them, but only of their expressions, words, and bodily movements. Though these we recognize them as possessors of mind and wills like those we know ourselves to have. Similarly, God reveals himself to us in the order of nature every thing we see, hear, feel, or in any wise perceived by sense, being a sign or effect of the Power of God.  The ideas in the minds of human beings are caused in them by God and sustained by him when they are not perceiving them. I believe that is why some people are able to invent airplanes, space ships, and cars.  #RandolphHarris 7 of 9

Regularly recurring groups of ideas are called bodies, and the ideas that form them are arbitrarily connected together and might have been connected quite differently. Thus, there is no natural necessity or internal reason about the laws of nature, but the regular sequences of ideas reveal to us a single infinite being who orders things for our benefit. Active spirits and passive ideas are of different natures. The mind is not blue because the idea of blue is in it, nor is the mind extended because it has an idea of extension. Ideas are neither parts nor properties of minds. Ideas are neither parts nor properties of minds. The relationship is sui generis (of its own kind), for sensible qualities are in the mind only as they are perceived by it, that is, not by way of mode or attribute, but only be the way of idea. I am on the side of common sense against the skeptics, and we should expect the ideas that continue to exist in God’s mind to be identical with those that had been in the minds of the embodied finite spirits who had formerly perceived them. God knows or hath ideas are not conveyed to him by sense organs, as ours are.  #RandolphHarris 8 of 9

The ideas that God perceives are not identical with the ideas that embodied finite spirits perceive. What we directly perceive are copies or representatives of divine originals, the direct, unmediated perception of common sense, in place of the representative and skeptical theory of the philosophers and scientists, cannot be substantiated. The material substance is an impossibility because it is held to exist apart from the mind, whereas the archetypes in the divine mind are obviously inseparable from God’s knowledge of them. People often make false judgments when they are not fully enlightened or only see what they want to see. The case of the oar, for example, it looks bent in the water when in fact it is straight, we go wrong only if we mistakenly infer that it will look bent when out of the water. There is something seen to be straight, something else seen to be crooked, and something else again felt to be straight. We go wrong only when we expect that when we see something crooked we shall feel something crooked. However, this reinforces the criticism we have already mentioned, that the ideas perceived by finite spirits with sense organs are different from, and representative of, the ideas in the mind of God. Many people are farther from common sense and closer to criticizing than they are ready to admit.  The Universe is a concrete unity in which an infinite mind is manifesting itself.  #RandolphHarris 9 of 9

The Broken Heart—Life is Full of Cares and Anxieties

Straight up, I just want to be your beneficiary. The coincidence of grief and human loss seem to surround so many sudden deaths. The real cost of a deep personal love for another human being can only been seen in the shattering loss that is felt when that love is suddenly and permanently taken away. I have learned not to feel sorry for anyone and to trust my instincts and intuition. People will use others for money and anything they can get from them and when they finally get what they want they will leave you broke, and broken, while they are out taking luxury vacations with friends and eating rich foods and staying in hotel rooms as big as an apartment and pretend they do not even know you. I felt sorry for someone because he always looked miserable and I just wanted to show him a little support for a while and then let him go in hopes that he would feel better, but it became a situation of exploitation, and when he finally got his career back on the ground, he has nothing more to do with me.  #RyanPhillippe 1 of 6

I had worked so hard to support this individual that I ended up getting sick and burning my food and not being able to buy Christmas presents for my family, and not even with enough money to pay my phone bill and with chest pains from all of the problems I went through with this individual. While I was not feeling well, I noticed that I had been eating moldy food and the only reason I noticed is because it tasted funny, and when I turned on the light, I saw my salad had black mold on it and my doughnuts had green mold. So, after a few years of helping this person, my bills increased dramatically, and someone stole my identity and I got a $7,900.00 credit card bill and a $21,000.00 bill from the IRS, which is under investigation. So, my advice to never let someone use you until you are sick and broke. All I can say is there are a reason some heroes are hidden and miserable. And as you have learned, a broke heart can kill.  As you see, Carrie Fisher died, and days later her mother Debbie Reynolds passed away also. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 6

Many divorced and single people who contribute to the marked increase in cardiovascular death rates not only lack human companionship but also alter their life-styles in a number of ways that contribute to cardiac disease. Many other single and divorced individuals live with other human beings and therefore need not lack either human companionship or love. Furthermore, many individuals listed as married on statistical tables are married in name only. Through excessive dedicated to their jobs or life-styles, many individuals live in a state of complete psychological divorce from their mates. Their lives are essentially devoid of love. From a scientific point of view, therefore, the widow or widower who suddenly loses a loved one presents a far less ambiguous picture than single, divorced, or even certain married individuals. The sudden loss of a loved one abruptly removes human companionship and a source of love from one’s life. At least 50 percent of sudden deaths is usually the departure of the last or only child in the family for college or marriage. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 6

Other investigators have also noted the link between interpersonal difficulties, depression and sudden death from a coronary hear attack. Loneliness and grief often overwhelm bereaved individuals, and the toll taken on the heart can be clearly seen. As the mortality statistics indicate, this is no myth or romantic fairy tale—all available evidence suggests that people do indeed die of broken hearts. Patients now die of atherosclerosis, ventricular fibrillation, or congestive heart failure brought on by age, damaged hearts and arteries, or poor eating happens. Modern science has recognized the killing potential of human grief, most physicians are also intuitively aware of its lethal power. In these stories the physicians implicitly recognizes the importance of human companionship and the devastating effects of loneliness. For example, a physician-friend once asked me with a great deal of anguish upon the death of his mother-in-law, “How much time do you think my father-in-law has now?” #RyanPhillippe 4 of 6

Most people seem to recognize the medical reality of a broken heart. Many of us who had watched couples who have lived together die coincidentally within a few months. Many of us have had uncles, aunts, cousins, or grandparents who showed the same patterns.  Adding empirical evidence to this intuitive perceptions Doctors Kraus and Lillienfeld were among the first to call attention to the abrupt rise in mortality among widows and widowers, especially in the young widowed group. Carefully examining data published by the National Office of Vital Statistics, they observed that the excessive rick in the widowed under the age of 35, compared to the married, was greater than tenfold for at least one of the specific age-sex groups, involving several leading causes of death, including atherosclerotic heart disease and vascular lesions of the nervous system. Arteriosclerosis is generally thought of as a degenerative disease that can begin in childhood and then usually progresses slowly through life.  #RyanPhillippe 5 of 6

The increased morality among the bereaved is especially high during the first six months after the loss of a loved one. This finding is especially important because it clearly implies that the increase in mortality in widows and widowers is not due to the fact that these individuals are simply too sick to remarry. Most of the increase in sudden deaths occur before there would have been sufficient time to remarry in any event. Strange life mine—rather curious history—not extraordinary, but singular. Tough, huh? Especially when someone keeps breaking your heart on purpose. Any body’s life may be just as romantic and strange and interesting if he or she fails as if he or she succeed. All the difference is, that the last chapter is wanting in the story. Some people saw death as the only escape from an oppressive social climate because they were lonely, alienated, and lacked support from the doomed victim. The social environment as a support to morale is probably much more  important and impressive in a World haunted by fear and massive physiological changes that could abruptly terminate life.  #RyanPhillippe 6 of 6

The Flow of Consciousness and the Vital Impetus

IMG_20160422_090330Since humans are social animals, their future evolution will be accelerated or retarded by the sort of group in which they live. A closed society is one dominated by the routine and mechanical. It is resistant to change, conservative, and authoritarian. Its stability is achieved by increasing itself centeredness. Hence, conflict with other self-centered groups, often involving war, is a condition of preservation. Internal cohesiveness is secured by a closed morality and a closed religion. Closed morality is static and absolutistic; closed religion is ritualistic and inflexible. Both institutions exert pressure on individuals to accept the standard of practices of the community. Conformity becomes the prime duty of the citizen. There is an obvious analogy between such a society and the repetitive mechanisms dealt with by the intellect. Dreams which are to be understood as fulfilments of wishes is not new, but has long since been recognized. When desire bestirs itself, then it comes phantasy, and presents to us, as it were, the object of desire. Dreams which present the most painful content, and not the least trace of wish-fulfilment, occur frequently enough. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 8

As regards the American dream, with it all the troubles of the current state of affairs passing over into reality, the idea of working hard, buying a house, owning a few cars, having a green lawn, and family reconcile the cultured person with life—scientific and artistic enjoyment. However, lately, even less pessimistic observers have emphasized the fact that in our American dream pain and disgust has become more frequent than pleasure. Currently, 58 percent of Americans are experiencing a disagreeable lifestyle, and only 28.6 percent are positively pleasant. Besides working hard and not being able to support oneself or family, the many painful emotions of life produce anxiety, in which this most terrible of all the painful emotions torments us all throughout the day. People are now forced to buy health insurance or face thousands of dollars in fines, which is basically telling us than humans have become a product, human capital, no different than livestock, cars, or a house. No longer are our freedoms and rights as human beings being protected.  #RyanPhillippe 2 of 8

Americans are being exploited and made to feel like we are not worthy of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, we are now made to open our doors to people who are unlawfully moving to America. We are expected to pay taxes for undocumented citizens to attend college, where they get federal monies that our own kids do now even qualify for, and theses undocumented citizens are making it more difficult for lawful Americans to get into college. They are also taking jobs from teenagers. Now, it is precisely by these anxiety-realities that our children are so often haunted; and yet it is in our children that we hold our pride and work so hard to provide a future for. Now, the American Dream has been condemned as absurdity. It is true that America is the manifestation of a country built by immigrants, but these immigrants also severed in wars, were slaves, paid taxes, and legally worked to build this country, and now we are expected to turn it over to people who are illegally here, who have worked for nothing, and expect everything for free!  #RyanPhillippe 3 of 8

In scientific research it is often advantageous, if the solution of one problem presents difficulties, to add to it a second problem; just as it is easier to crack two nuts together instead of separately. Thus, we are confronted not only with the problem: How can painful and terrifying realities be the fulfilments of wishes? but we may add to this a second problem which arises from the foregoing discussion of the general problem of the American Dream: Why are we expected to uphold the laws and encourage others to break it and even reward them for stealing citizenship? Reveal their meaning without disguise. What they are doing is wrong and it is setting a bad example for our children. God’s justice cannot let His mercy operate for the comfort of one person. We have an entire country to think of and no one wants to spend their retirement savings or sale their house to support then grown children because they have been robbed of their future. Currently, 40 percent of adults 18-34 are living with their parents or other family members and that is the highest numbers since the Great Depression in the 1920s.  #RyanPhillippe 4 of 8

There is no such thing as moral responsibility for past acts, no such thing as real justice in punishing them, for the reason that human beings are not stationary existences, but changing, growing, incessantly progressive organisms, which in no two moments are the same. Therefore justice, whose only possible mode of proceeding is to punish in present time for what is done in past time, must always punish a person more or less similar to, but never identical with, the one who committed the offense, and therein must be no justice. The World would do well to reflect, that injustice is in itself, to every generous and properly constituted mind, an injury, of all others the most insufferable, the most torturing, and the most hard to bear; and that many clear consciences have gone to their account elsewhere, and many sound hearts have broken, because of this very reason; the knowledge of their own deserts only aggravating their sufferings, and rendering them less endurable.  #RyanPhillippe 5 of 8

Who shall put his or her singer on the work of justice, and say, “It is there”? Justice is like the Kingdom of God—it is not without us as a fact, it is within us as a great yearning. We cannot allow people to encroach on our lifestyle and contain us to specific areas. The existence of a multiplicity of closed societies on Earth is an obstacle to human evolution. Accordingly, the next development in humans requires the establishment of an open society. Instead of being limited, it will embrace all humankind; instead of being static, it will be progressive; instead of demanding conformity, it will encourage the maximum diversity among individuals. Its moral and religious beliefs will be equally flexible and subject to growth. Religion will replace the stereotyped dogmas elaborated by the intellect with the intuition and illumination now achieved by the mystics. The spread of the mystical spirit must ultimately create an open society whose freedom and spontaneity will express the divine elan which pervades the Universe. This is true empiricism. Through reason one may attain knowledge of Ultimate Reality, and this is a comprehensive and consistent World view that can be applied to ethics, religion, art, politics, and education.  #RyanPhillippe 6 of 8

We must be the greatest defender of idealism in America and discover the Absolute in the Universe. Beginning with fragmentary experience, we can grow into a larger country. This is the Absolute Truth, and from individual value to a Universal standard of value. Mind is the ultimate reality, but reality is not to be identified with subjective consciousness; absolute mind, which is the true reality, is greater than the individua mind and comprises the total intelligible structure of the Universe. It is only in terms of Absolute experience, in which all things are present and understood, that any finite experience can be comprehended. Consider wat effect, that might conceivably have practical bearings, we conceive the objects of our conception to have then, our conception of these effects is the whole of our conception of the object. You need to stand up and not be contained by negative people, by the way you were raised, by mistake that have been made, by injustice, disappointment, or even some handicap. You are the children of the Most High God. He breathed His life into you. You have something incredible to offer the World. Where you are now is not where you will stay. You are rising higher and are a barrier breaker. You will take new ground for God’s Kingdom.   #RyanPhillippe 7 of 8

What God has destine for your life will come to fulfillment. God is going to increase your influence. Rid yourself of that limited mentality and press forward in faith. God is about to thrust you into a new level of your destiny. You cannot be contained. Do not assume you have to be extraordinary to be used by God. You do not have to have exceptional gifts, talents, abilities, nor connections. God specializes in using ordinary people whose limitations and weaknesses make them ideal showcases for His greatness and glory. In the coming days, God will bring opportunities for you to increase your influence in amazing ways. Do not shrink back in fear. Do not be intimidated. You are well and able and equipped. You are anointed. Dare to take those steps of faith. What you have seen God do in the past will pale in comparison to what God is about to do. Get ready for God’s favor and blessing. You are uncontainable. I believe that your present sufferings are nothing compared to the glory that is coming.  #RyanPhillippe 8 of 8

m,

Let us Respect Even Error when it has its Source in Virtue

s_17873_1418195788_ryan_phillippe_25Each age thinks its own is eternal. I never stop thinking about you and wishing you were here. I should not expect that you can bandage up my heart. I have spent these long week of waiting just wandering around London. Going to every place we walked together, every railing you brushed against, every bend in the road where you stopped to touch my face. One Christmas we were in Liverpool and we both went outside at midnight just to feel the other across the miles. I thought that if I went to all the right spots in London, I could feel your presences again: your breath on my face, your voice in my ear, your hand in mine. I thought that I could find those moments and catch them up in my heart. However, this is not the London where I gave away my heart. I wonder what happened to my love. I am tired. Half my life has been waiting, it feels like, and I do not know how much longer I can do it. It is exhausting. I will stay another week at the Hilton Liverpool, just to be sure you are not coming back, but then I will head towards Manchester, head back to again wall up my memories and continue waiting. I know no other way to be. I miss you so.  #RyanPhillippe 1 of 8

1-bmw-750ixl-300x214Last night I saw the most beautiful Sunset. It is funny, however. The Sun does not actually set, it just changes angles in the Sky. Nonetheless, it made me think about the time we took the BMW out to Albert Dock and watched the Sunset. Even though the water was freezing, you dared me to roll up my trousers and wade in. Then you sat on my lap and buried your toes in the sand and we shared that delicious risalamande you made. I wish I had more now. And the sand And the Sunset. However, most of all I wish I had you. I truly felt the Earth rotating beneath me. Vital impetus is speculative, although often formulated as if it were a report of an established fact. The impetus is declared to be a current of consciousness that has penetrated matter, given rise to living bodies, and determined the course of their evolution. The current passes from one generation to the next by way of reproduction—in bisexual organisms, by way of the reproductive cells. The vital impetus is the cause of variations that accumulate and produce new species. It coordinates the appearance of variations so as to preserve continuity of functioning in evolving structures. And it carries life toward ever higher complexity of organization.  #RyanPhillippe 2 of 8

Strictly speaking, the impetus does not generate energy of its own, over and above that already present in matter. What it does is to engraft on to the necessity of physical forces the largest possible amount of indetermination. This indetermination is evident in the contingency and creativity that have characterized history of life. At every stage the impetus has been limited by recalcitrant matter. Hence, it is always seeking to transcend the stage it has reached and always remains inadequate to what it tries to produce. The earliest living things were physico-chemical systems into which the vital impetus insinuated itself. Its potentialities could be realized only minimally in these systems. Consequently, it divided so that life moved forward in several quite different directions. One direction was taken by plants, another by insects, and a third by the vertebrates. The three directions illustrate respectively the predominance of stability, instinct, and intelligence. No predetermined plan or purpose was involved in all this. The vital impetus is not finalistic, it does engender progress. A perfect of functions has occurred through successive stages. An increasing realization of consciousness has also occurred.  #RyanPhillippe 3 of 8

This last contention has made it difficult for us to maintain an opposition to finalism, for it is in humans that consciousness has been most fully realized. Here the vital impetus has found its most adequate expression as intelligence. It has likewise achieved genuine freedom by at last making matter its instrument. There was in fact a sudden leap from the animal to human. Hence, humans might be considered the reason for the existence of the entire organization of life on our planet. That is, only in a manner of speaking. We should not think that humanity was prefigured in the evolutionary process from the beginning. The appearance of humans are the raison d’etre of life on Earth, Humans or some other being of like significance, which is the purpose of the entire process of evolution. The appearance of humans were in no sense predetermined, though it was not accidental, either. Terrestrial evolution might have produced some other being of the same essence. Such beings have doubtless arisen elsewhere, for the vital impetus animates innumerable planets in the Universe. The impetus is thus not limited to Earth; creative evolution is a cosmic process.  #RyanPhillippe 4 of 8

cgvhbjnkmThe vital impetus to steam escaping at high pressure through the cracks in a container. Jets gush out unceasingly, the steam condenses into drops of water, and the drops fall back to the source. Each jet and its drops represent a World of matter animated by life. However, it succeeds at most in retarding their fall. So, the vital impetus achieves a moment of freedom at its highest point, in humans. It might be inferred from this analogy that matter is not something sui generis, but is rather the lowest form assumed by the outpouring of spirit. However, matter and spirit are coexistent and interdependent. Vital impetus is a supra-consciousness to which the name of God might be attached. However, this is very different from the conception of traditional Western theology. For if God is identical with the vital impetus, then he is pure activity, limited by the material World in which he is struggling to manifest himself. He is neither omnipotent nor omniscient. God has nothing of the already made, but is ceaselessly changing. God is love and the object of love. There is also a divine purpose in the evolutionary process. Evolution is nothing less than God’s undertaking to create creators, that He may have, besides Himself, beings worthy of His love.  #RyanPhillippe 5 of 8

The discovery of this purpose and of the reality of God cannot be made by the intellect. It can be made only by the sort of intuition that is the mystical experience. For the vital impetus is communicated in its entirety to exceptional persons. These are the mystics who achieve contact and partial coincidence with the creative effort that is of God, if it is not God Himself. This experience does not terminate in passivity, but leads to intense activity. The mystics participate in God’s love for humankind. They are therefore impelled to advance the divine purpose by helping to complete the development of humans. They want to make of humanity what it would straightway have become if humanity had been able to reach its final form without the assistance of humans themselves. The spirit of the mystics must become Universal in order to ensure human’s future evolution. The biggest obstacle to the spread of the mystical spirit is the ceaseless struggle that most humans must wage against the material conditions of life. Yet, I do not believe that these conditions could be ameliorated by programs of political and economic reform devised by the intellect.  #RyanPhillippe 6 of 8

Screenshot_2016-04-23-20-48-30Consequently, the most we can hope for at present is that the spirit of the mystics will be kept alive by small groups of privileged souls, until such times as a profound change in the material conditions imposed on by humanity by nature should permit, in spiritual matters, of a profound transformation. The mystics, through their experience of love, will keep open a trail along which the whole humanity can eventually pass. Humans are children of Almighty God, created to grow, move forward, increase, and constantly break the barriers of the past and advance God’s Kingdom. Nothing is ever wasted in the Kingdom of God. Not one tear, not all our pain, not the unanswered questions or the seemingly unanswered prayers. Nothing will be wasted if we give our lives to God. And if we are willing to be patient until the grace of God is made manifest, whether it takes nine years or ninety, it will be worth the wait. Deeper and deeper into Time’s endless tunnel, does the winged soul, like a night-hawk, wend his wild way; and finds eternities before and behind; and his last limit is his everlasting beginning.  #RyanPhillippe 7 of 8

5d52bb44-8b1e-4f13-b9aa-6898b7eaf9adFather, thank You that because I am Your child, I do not have to be contained by how I was raised, by my education or environment, or by what I have been in the past. I am pressing forward and taking new ground, stretching my faith, believing for bigger things, expecting Your favor in unprecedented ways. Because Your face is shinning down on me right now, where I am is not where I am staying. I am not getting comfortable. I am not stuck in a rut.  If you are for me, who dares be against me? I believe I am uncontainable. Please quell these fears within me. I need some confirmation that my prayers have been answered. These Catholic prayers are newly learned, and I want to be sure I am doing something right. I wish I was not starting to feel the first fingers of worry plucking at my heart, the way they always do when I miss you. You have to admit, your history in that respect has not been exemplary. I remember the warmth and mystery of St, Mary’s and, besides, I thought if I wanted to put in a special request to God to keep you safe, perhaps I should appeal to God. I now know a place I can go when I want to feel close to you.   #RyanPhillippe 8 of 8

The General Course of Nature Only can be a Fit Standard of Example

Time is Eternity; and we live in Eternity now. Throughout all eternity, the parts of the past are but parts of the future reversed. Darwin explained the evolutionary process by supposing that in every population of organisms there occur random variations that have different degrees of adaptive value. Excesses carry with them the principles of their own destruction. The variations having maximum value for the survival and reproduction of the organisms are naturally selected; that is, they are preserved and transmitted to subsequent generations, while the other variations are eliminated. However, this explanation fails to account for a number of facts. A multicellular animal, or an organ like the vertebrate eye, is a functional whole made up of coordinated parts. If just one or a few parts happened to vary independently of the rest, the functioning of the whole would be impaired. Since evolution has occurred, we must suppose that each stage all the parts of an animal and of its complex organs have varied contemporaneously so that effective functioning was preserved.  #RyanPhillippe 1 of 6

However, it is utterly implausible to suppose, as Darwin did, that such coadapted variations could have been random, for then their coadaptation would remain a mystery. Some agency other than natural selection must have been at work to maintain continuity of functioning through successive alterations of form. Another fact that Darwinism failed to explain is why living things have evolved in the direction of greater and greater complexity. The earliest living things were simple in character and well adapted to their environments. Why did the evolutionary process not stop at this stage? Why did life continue to complicate itself more and more dangerously? To appeal to the mechanism of selection for an answer is insufficient. Something must have driven life on to higher and higher levels of organization, despite the risk involved. Darwin’s predecessor Lamarck avoided the idea of random variations by supposing that variations were caused by the effort exerted by individuals in adapting to the environment. I consider this a more a more adequate explanation than the Darwinian. Yet, it involves accepting the principle that acquired characteristics are transmitted from one generation to the next, and empirical evidence is heavily against this.  #RyanPhillippe 2 of 6

Furthermore, the Lamarckain notion of a conscious effort is too limited to serve as an explanatory device. It could perhaps operate in the case of animals, but hardly in the case of plats or microorganisms. To make the notion work, it must be broadened and deepened. Similarly, orthogenesis; that is, to an inner principle that directs the course of evolution, has merit if interpreted nonmechanistically, but not if interpreted in physico-chemical terms. Evolution could be due to combinations of matter and motion. However, to obtain a true understanding of the evolutionary process, the findings of biology must be supplemented by the findings of metaphysics. The chief clue is found in what intuition reveals of our own inner nature as living beings; we are typical constituents of the Universe, and the forces that work in us also work in all things. When we focus upon what intuition discloses of ourselves, we find not only continuous becoming and real duration, but also a consciousness of a vital impetus (elan vital), of our own evolution in time. We are thus led to the idea of an original impetus life (un elan original de la vie) that pervades the whole evolutionary process and accounts for its dominant features. Accordingly, the history of life is to be understood in creative, not mechanistic terms.  #RyanPhillippe 3 of 6

Infantile amnesia is a remarkable negligence and a psychic phenomenon which thus far has remained unexplained. I refer to the peculiar amnesia which veils from most people (not from all) the first years of their childhood, usually the first six or eight years. So far, it is has not occurred to us that this amnesia should surprise us, though we have good reasons for it. For we are informed that during those years which have left nothing except a few incomprehensible memory fragments, we have vividly reacted to impressions, that we have manifested human pain and pleasure and that we have expressed love, jealousy, and other passions as they then affected us. Indeed, we are told that we have uttered remarks which proved to grownups that we possessed understanding and a building power of judgment. Still we know nothing of all this when we become older. Why does our memory lag behind all other psychic activities? We really have reason to believe that at no time of life are we more capable of impressions and reproductions than during the years of childhood.  #RyanPhillippe 4 of 6

On the other hand we must assume, or we may convince ourselves through psychological observations on others, that the very impressions which we have forgotten have nevertheless, left the deepest traces in our psychic life, and acted as determinants for our whole future development. We conclude therefore that we do not deal with a real forgetting of infantile impressions but rather with an amnesia similar to that observed in neurotics for later experiences, the nature of which consists in their being kept away from consciousness (repression). However, what forces bring about this repression of the infantile impression? One who can solve this riddle will also explain hysterical amnesia. The connection between infantile ad hysterical amnesias is really more than a mere play of wit. Hysterical amnesia which serves the repression can only be explained by the fact that the individual already possess a sum of memories which were withdrawn from conscious disposal and which by associative connection now seize that which is acted upon by the repelling forces of the repression emanating from consciousness. We may say that without infantile amnesia there would be no hysterical amnesia.  #RyanPhillippe 5 of 6

s_17873_1418195788_ryan_phillippe_25I therefore believe that the infantile amnesia which cases the individual to look upon one’s childhood as if it were prehistoric time and conceals from one the beginning of one’s own life—that this amnesia, is responsible for the fact that one does not usually attribute any value to the infantile period in the development of the life. One single observer cannot fill the gap which has been thus produced in our knowledge. No eyes have seen, no ears have heard, no mind has imagined the amazing things God has in store for those who love the Lord. Father, thank You for Your goodness, protection, provisions, and favor. You have been awesome in my life and I thank You for it. However, I believe this is only temporary provision. Where You are taking me is to a land of abundance, a place like I have never experienced before. I believe that something out of the ordinary is coming my way; new levels of favor, unprecedented opportunities, or divine connection. I am pulling up my stakes and moving forward with God. God opens wide the doors of the treasure house of God’s promise, and bids us go in and take with the boldness the riches that are ours.  #RyanPhillippe 6 of 6
