Happy Valentine’s Day!

The secret of the heart is its pressing love of self. Often times when we visit a new place, one may be intimidated. However, the advantage of travel is by seeing a great deal of both people and manners; it teachers us mutual respect; and mutual respect teaches us mutual love. Sacramento, California is very impressive because everything looks so new and shiny and clean. The city is so big, and there are a lot of trees; and a very nice river where you can go hiking and rafting, or fish for fresh salmon. If you are lucky, you may see a deer or a cotton tail rabbit. Everything that is possible, is possible. A good place in possession is better than one in expectation. The homes are all nice, and many of them are oversized, and the houses have emerald green lawns that you can run your hands through, or there is nice landscaping to conserve water. The city basically looks like a forest with houses and businesses. There are also a lot of wonderful and historical landmarks in Midtown Sacramento, and a very nice rose garden at the State Capitol Castle of California. If you want, you can literally spend hours or days just wondering around looking at the beauty. There is no such thing in a civilized society as self-support. The people in Sacramento, California are very friendly and warm. They like to be social and talk, which is really nice when you come from a big city where the people are busy and cold. The middle of the downtown area holds gems often overlooked by those who jet to the nightclubs, mountains, or head to the coast to get away from it all. A poet never kept a secret yet.

One of my favorite restaurants is in Midtown Sacramento, called Paesanos, and it is an Italian restaurant, located at 1806 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento, California 95811. My favorite cuisine is spaghetti and they make one of the best pizzas I have ever had. When you dine with them, no matter how much you are spending, the staff will treat you like royalty. The interior of Paesanos is dimly lit and kind of romantic, with a lot of dark and neutral tones. And, Paesanos also has an outdoor eating area, which is pretty big, and you can enjoy the Victorian mansion and its roses, as you sit on the patio of the restaurant and have something to eat. With Valentine’s Day coming up, I would recommend taking your date to Paesaons, the prices are reasonable, and after you eat, you can tour the State Capitol, the rose garden, walk around and experience some of the shops, tour the Stanford or Governor’s Mansions, or even hope on over to J street and enjoy the nightlife. To every philosophy are certain rear parts, very important parts, and these, like the rear of one’s head, are best seen in reflection. If you really want to get away from it all and go somewhere nice and romantic, a trip to Sacramento, California may be in the cards for you. Sacramento is hidden in Northern California, when you come here and tour Midtown, you will feel like you are a character in a fairy tale. And the suburban communities in Sacramento, Elk Grove, and Roseville are like the homes you would see in Leave it to Beaver. This is a great place to raise a family, go to college, or retire. It is like a mixture of the Midwest and New York.
Oh, and by the way, if you happen to like Vietnamese food, please check out one of my favorite restaurants called Viet Hoa. Viet Hoa is family own, very clean and the staff is friendly. The food is also reasonably priced. Viet Hoa is located at 4805 Laguna Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95758, and that is in Sacramento County. The phone number is (916) 428-4295. My favorite dish on the menu is I believe the number 33, which is, if I recall correctly, a really good egg roll, rice noodles, charbroiled chicken and a nice sauce that goes with it. You have been everywhere else and tried everything else, so why not give Sacramento a chance? You may fall in love with what you see. I never give up on anything that I choose to do. Heaven is above all. The curtain of our fate is still undrawn. How brilliant and tender is the moon on the night of Valentine’s Day. In this silvery World, the white snowflakes are my missing and blessing for you. I wish you to stretch out your hands and accept my best wishes. May the flower of happiness be fragrant in your future days. May floating thoughts turn to colorful stars and sparkle in your dreams every night. You are water, blue with waves and ripples, in the clear spring, flowing happily. You flow into my heart, like spirits and leave me feeling intoxicated. The World smiles when you smile. My heart is waiting and waiting. I love the lilac you presented me with, and I miss you, every second, every minute, in every day. I dream of you, every second, every minute at night. I have been laughing with you, full of tender feelings; I have gained your elation which only loves gives you. If you are the beautiful seashore, I will be the tidal wave at your foot. The white wave is the love song sung for you and the colorful seashells are the poetic lines composed for you. Whether on the ebb or flow, the sea and shore are always together. Our deeds determine us, as much as we determine our deeds. Heaven at distance does not attract us so forcibly as a fool’s paradise, in sight. Love is the soul of harmony, the connecting chain that links the whole frame of being; it is the glory of nature, and the very perfection of humankind. As soon as a man awakens a woman’s passions, she begins to idealize him and there is no limit to the virtues he will be made to carry. A real passion is too mighty for words. No misery can equal the struggles of a virtuous mind wishing to act in a manner becoming its own dignity, yet carried by passions to do otherwise. Virtue alone is true honor, true freedom, and solid, durable happiness.

Wake Up, Wake Up, Wake Up–it is the First of the Month!!!!!
Nothing is great but the personal. As civilization advances, the accidents of life become each day less important. The power of a man or woman, his or her greatness and his or her glory, depend on essential qualities. Brains every day become more precious than blood. The Supreme Court ruled that there is no constitutional absolute executive privilege that would allow a president to refuse to comply with a court order to produce information needed in a criminal trial. Is not the man guilty of a high degree of injustice who is more apt to give contradictions than able to bear it? Mercy to a criminal may be gross injustice to the community.
An approach to constitutional interpretation that emphasized the Framers’ original intentions, judicial interpretations of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments’ due process clause that protects citizens from arbitrary or unjust laws. Effective administration of public policies depends partly on whether an agency is authorized to use appropriate implementation techniques. Practitioners of policy evaluation are concerned with determine what a policy is actually accomplishing. They may also try to determine whether a policy is being fairly or efficiently administered. In the case of welfare programs, for instance, uncovering evidence of “waste, fraud, or abuse” in their administration has often been of more interest to official evaluates than whether the programs are meeting the needs of the poor.
It is charitable to lend a hand to life those up who come to pluck you down. Social insurance programs operate in a manner somewhat similar to private automobile or life insurance. Contributions are made by or on behavior of the prospective beneficiaries, their employers, or both. When a person becomes eligible for benefits, the monies are paid as a matter of right, regardless of how much wealth or unearned income (for example, from dividends and interest payments) the recipient has. (For Social Security taxes, a limit is imposed on earned income. Social Security is not based on low income, but is available to all contributors.)
Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance–as mentioned earlier, is a form of social security, this program began as old-age insurance, providing benefits only to retired workers. Its coverage was extended to survivors of covered workers in 1939 and to the permanently disabled in 1956. Customarily called Social Security, it is not, as many people believe, a pension program that collects contributions from workers, invests them, and then returns them with interest to beneficiaries. Instead, the current workers’ pay taxes that directly goes toward providing benefits for retirees.
In 2002, an employee tax of 7% was levied on the first $84,900 of wages or salaries and placed into Social Security Trust Fund. An equal tax was levied upon employers. Nearly all employees and most of the self-employed (who pay 1.3 % tax) are now covered by Social Security. People earning less money pay a greater share of their income into the Social Security Fund, since wages or salaries are not taxed after they pass a specific threshold level. The Social Security tax therefore is considered a regressive tax because it captures larger proportions of incomes from lower and middle-income individuals than from high-wage earners.
Health is the normal condition. No one wants to hear about all of your medical problems, please keep that to yourself. No one cares, and it stresses them out. The United States of America should not have to spend more than $3,724.00 a year, per person, on health care, unless the person is seriously injured. Many people frequently go to the doctor and pretend to have mental problems to boost their medical bills so they can qualify for Supplemental Security Income. This program began under the Social Security Act as a categorical grant-in-aid program to help the needy aged or blind. Grants were financed jointly by the national and state governments from general revenues, but the states played a major role in determining standards of eligibility and benefit levels. In 1950, Congress extended Supplemental Security Income (SSI) coverage to needy people, who were permanently and totally disabled.
With the support of President Nixon, Congress reconfigured the grant programs into the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program in 1974. Primary funding for SSI is provided by the national government, which prescribes uniform benefit levels throughout the nation. To be eligible, beneficiaries can own only a limited amount of possessions.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a US federal program that can help give financial aid to those who have extreme mental conditions or are blind. Supplemental Security Income is not the same as receiving disability pay. Normally, one may be eligible for disability payments if one has worked for 12 months, prior to the disability occurring, and the disability is expected to last for a year, or result in death. SSI, on the other hand, does not require that a person ever work prior to receiving it. So in a way, many people who receive SSI are getting free money, but they need it because they are considered a danger to themselves and society.
Part of SSI funds are distributed to children with significant disabilities, like severe mental retardation, blindness, cancer or heart defects. Basically, these are people have mental problems that are so bad that they cannot work because there is a fear that they are ticking time bombs and may flash and hurt people. In fact, 83% of SSI recipients received payments because of disability or blindness.
People who receive SSI are usually paid on the first of the month. The average federally administered SSI payment was $439. Payments varied by age group, ranging from an average of $523 for recipients under 18 to $362 for those 65 or older. The maximum federal benefit rate in December 2005 was $579 for an individual, $869 for a couple, plus any applicable state supplementation. Children who receive payments do so based on their parents’ income level. The child or adult receiving the money must also be a US citizen and have a Social Security number.
Social Security provides more than just retirement benefits. About 53 million people received a payment from Social Security. Most (45.9 million) received Old Age Survivor and Disability Insurance (OASDI) benefits only, about 4.6 million received SSI only, and 2.5 million received payments from both programs. Having a disability does not mean a person is not healthy or that he or she cannot be healthy. Being healthy means the same thing for all of us—getting and staying well so we can lead full, active lives.
That means having the tools and information to make healthy choices and knowing how to prevent illness. SSI, SSDI and retirement are not the same. People who have worked, but are injured, while working receive SSDI, and they have a physical disability. People who receive SSI are typically blind or insane, may have never worked a day in their lives. And retirees are vintage people, who have paid their dues to society. Retired workers and their dependents account for 69% of total benefits paid. Disabled workers and their dependents account for 18% of total benefits paid. About 91% of workers age 21-64 in covered employment and their families have protection in the event of a long-term disability.
Many think that young people are strong because they are young, however, that may not be the case. Almost 25% of today’s 20 year-olds will become disabled before reaching age 67. This is very alarming, 69% of the private sector workforce has no long-term disability insurance. So they may need to look into finding an insurance company to insure them, so if they get hurt, they will have a policy, which pays them about the same amount of money they make on the job. However, the US Department of Veterans Affairs provides patient care and federal benefits to veterans and their dependents.
Many people think the disabled are undesirable. However, people with disabilities can be at higher risk for injuries and abuse. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) reminds Canadians to be aware of the possible risks of disclosing their online banking and credit card information to anyone, including financial aggregation services.
It is important for parents and other family members to teach their loved one how to stay safe and what to do if they feel threatened or have been hurt in any way. Sharing financial information with employees can produce dramatic results. Many business owners considering an open-book approach fear that employees may distribute financial information to competitors, suppliers or customers, particularly in this age of social networking and online communication. When deciding whether or not to share data, assess the extent to which each piece of information could damage your business if placed in the wrong hands.
Consumers should be aware that if they disclose their online banking information to any other party, including financial aggregators, they may risk losing their protection against unauthorized transactions. Some financial institutions’ user agreements clearly state that users will be responsible for unauthorized transactions if they provide other parties, including financial aggregators, with their passwords and account information. Consumers are currently protected from fraudulent credit card and banking transactions should their accounts be compromised. However, by disclosing their user IDs and passwords to a financial aggregator, in some cases consumers may be going against their financial institutions’ user agreements and risk being held responsible for any losses that are a result of unauthorized transactions.
According to an Evansville Police Department report, 34-year-old Misty Caudill-Sartore told officers she had just received back pay from Social Security and wanted to take three friends — Tyesha Broomfield, age 22, Timmy Bland, age 19, and Antwane Broomfield, age 24, — to a movie. Misty Caudill-Sartore had been bragging to her friends, in the lobby, of her apartment building about how much money she was going to get from Social Security and that her pay day was on the first of each month and that her first check was going to be big! Misty Caudill-Sartore and her husband, William Riley, went to 509 Jeanette Benton Drive to meet the Broomfields and Timmy Bland. As Misty Caudill-Sartore and William Riley walked toward the door, Timmy Bland and Antwane Broomfield pushed them to the ground.
Misty Caudill-Sartore told police the men began pistol-whipping her and William Riley with two semi-automatic handguns. The two pointed the guns at the couple and demanded money, threatening to kill them if they did not comply, according to the report. Antwane Broomfield allegedly grabbed Misty Caudill-Sartore’s purse and pushed her and William Riley out the door and down the stairs. Misty Caudill-Sartore tried to called police, at which point Timmy Bland and Antwane Broomfield threatened her again.
Misty Caudill-Sartore frantically ran to a car, which William Riley was already in, and William Riley sped off. Misty Caudill-Sartore told police one of the men fired a shot at the vehicle. Misty Caudill-Sartore told police after she was beaten, she saw Tyesha Broomfield, Timmy Bland and another person leave in a black Chevrolet Blazer. Misty Caudill-Sartore said Antwane Broomfield left in a black Dodge Stratus. Nonetheless, Steve Green of the Police Department reported the suspects are still at large. People on SSI are not necessarily in their right frame of minds. Professional adults know you do not talk about finances or your pay day with anyone because they may try to rob you or set you up. However, some people on SSI have mental problems and should not live on their own. They have no filter and disclose all types of personal details to you, without being asked. They do not fear for their safety, so they will tell you their pay dates, where they are going, who they are with, their bathroom habits, and they always talk about the same things over and over. They are often loud, drug attics, liars, and not good people.
Here is another instance how people on Social Security are taken advantage of. A 44-year-old Columbus woman, Wytrenia Reynolds, was sentenced on 27 January 2015, to five years in federal prison, for forging Social Security checks. U.S. District Court Judge Clay D. Land sentenced Wytrenia Reynolds, on charges of theft of government property, aggravated identity theft, and possession of stolen United States treasury checks. She also was ordered to pay $39,000.00 in restitution. Wytrenia Reynolds was found guilty 25 September 2014, after a four-day jury trial.
Authorities said the evidence showed Wytrenia Reynolds, in September 2010, either cashed or tried to cash three stolen checks at Columbus’ Navy Federal Credit Union. Each check had been issued to an Atlanta resident. In October and November 2010, Wytrenia Reynolds cashed 13 stolen treasury checks, at a Columbus liquor store. Most of those checks were in the names of Atlanta residents, with two issued to Alabamians. In January 2011, agents found three stolen Social Security checks in a vehicle Wytrenia Reynolds leased, prosecutors said. The checks were payable to elderly residents of Thomaston and Ellenwood, Georgia. Investigators reported Wytrenia Reynolds had other government checks that were stolen from a post office in Atlanta. The checks she possessed, cashed, or tried to cash totaled about $515,000, they reported.
A person without sensibility exhibits no sign of a soul. Dorothea Helen Puente ( 9 January 1929 to 27 March 2011) was a convicted American serial killer. In the 1980s, Puente ran a boarding house in Sacramento, California, the home is located at 1426 F Street. Dorothea Puente’s motives for killing tenants were financial, with police estimates of her ill-gotten income totaling more than $13,000 per month. When the human-the physical–system is out under the effect of an excessive stimulant, whether grape, opium, or poison, taken in a quantity not sufficient to produce death, there is for a time, an unnatural exaltation, a tremendous accession of velocity in all the wheels of life.
The murders appear to have begun shortly after Dorothea Puente began renting out space, and cashed the Social Security checks of her elderly and mentally disabled boarders. Dorothea Puente continued to accept elderly tenants, and was popular with local social workers because she accepted “tough cases”, including drug addicts and abusive tenants. She collected tenants’ monthly mail before they saw it and paid them stipends, pocketing the rest for “expenses.”
Those who complained were killed and buried in her yard. On 11 November 1988, police inquired after the disappearance of tenant Alvaro Montoya, a developmentally disabled schizophrenic, whose social worker had reported him missing.
After noticing disturbed soil on the property, investigators uncovered the body of tenant Leona Carpenter, 78. Seven bodies were eventually found, and Dorothea Puente was charged with a total of nine murders, convicted of three and sentenced to two life sentences.
Many people believe that the F street murders were a form of population control and that Dorothea Puente was actually doing the community a service by getting rid of all the deviant, mentally ill trouble makers, who did nothing but fight, gossip, do drugs, drink, lie and upset others. Yet, nothing renders the soul so callous and insensible as the searing brands of infamy and disgrace.
On another note, how long is the city of Sacramento going to pretend that the news anchors and reporters are part of the problem with the dysfunction in this city. How long are you going to knowingly allow some to get robbed, beat, and their civil rights violated before you take action. This is, especially midtown looks very insane. Yet, everyone just keeps on going, while they act like they are not seeing all the unusual things in this city.
It almost seems as if this is not even real, like it is a play, and the media is trying to hide what is really going in, but the truth is bleeding through the seems, and if you guys do not know you are exposed, well, you are.
Like for example, everyone hears the guy, who has been jumping up and down on the floor, for three weeks, yet, they allow him to do it without saying a word, even though he is disturbing others.
How long are you going to ignore the fact that the black caucus is simply causing trouble and disturbing residences? How long are you going to pretend not to hear the threatening sounds of blackness coming from the gossip birds?
Are you going to keep ignoring the problems, in the city, and allow it to turn into a violent wasteland, as you use your disgusting dog stories and King’s arena to quail the noise?!
The role playing, acting, and pretending to be stupid is old. Wake up, we are all tired of the nonsense. You guys have the power to make the situation better, but choose to act like everything is perfect and keep distracting the public with this basketball team and sports arena. It is amazing, the only thing that makes the news in Sacramento, California, are dogs and the kids sports arena. This reminds us all of Ground Hog’s Day, and we are tired and ready to move on. You are just going to let this beautiful community be ruined by your fear and weakness?
All because you do not want to actually solve crime we all have to suffer? We pay taxes to just get used and abused and have no say?! Well, police are paid by tax payers, and in the private industry, if you are not doing your job, an employer can stop payment, effectively terminating your employment. I guess the leaders in Sacramento, California USA are just going to let things get so out of control that even the tax revenue is not enough to support the system and it comes falling down?
“Wake up, wake up, wake up, it’s the 1st of tha month. To get up, get up, get up, so cash your checks and get up. Wake up and I see that my sister is already dressed. She said, “I’m gonna run and go get my stamps, watch and make sure no one snatches my check!” That’s the mailman. Sort through the mail and put it up in-a me pocket. I gotta get paid.” -Bone Thugs in Harmony
Finally, people, we instructed you how to live, in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Be joyful always; pray continually; gives thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; do not treat prophecies without contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.
May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless, at the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. People, pray for us. Greet all others with love. I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Emmy-Award Winning CBS 8 News Sports Direct Shot in a Gun Battle
Do not be fooled by their smile, clean cut looks, and fancy suits, reporters are thugs, too. Without a doubt, the media has a tremendous power in our society. The images, views, and ideas disseminated via the mass media go a long way toward shaping and molding the manner in which individuals and entire groups are viewed.
In a ruthless turn of events, the Emmy-Award winning Sports Director for CBS News 8, Kyle Kraska, with his mind bending talents and mesmerizing visions that brought him big money, beautiful women, tote bags, pretty, pretty boys, and limitless success, soon became a nightmare, in a brutal turn of events, when the devil of the media revealed its evil head.
This is “My dream job in my dream city…sometimes I wonder how on earth I’m getting paid for this,” confirms Kyle Kraska. However, it saddens us to report that Kyle Kraska was shot on Tuesday, 9 February 2015, in the afternoon, outside his Scripps Ranch house, in a San Diego ghetto.
Kyle Kraska has more than one gunshot wound, and is described as a restless young man, who envies the expensive cars, engraved jewelry, Movado watches, Jimmy Choo perfume, flashy clothes, and high-rolling lifestyle of his Pharmacist friends.
Americans who have suffered doubly in the wake of the tragedy that struck during this gun battle that took place several shots were fired in this grimy, Scripps Ranch ghetto, in San Diego, are in shock.
Unfortunately Kyle Kraska was struck; he is now being treated at Scripps La Jolla Hospital, for a gunshot wounds.
Not in critical condition, however, expected to recover. Criminals, in this underground World of international smuggling; captured are haunting images of Kyle Kraska’s silver Mercedes Benz, with its back window shot out.
The police were closing in, on several suspects there, in the early evening, when they were met with bursts of semiautomatic fire, according to Eric Van Der Sypt of the prosecutor’s office. No police officers or civilians were hurt.
Currently, there is an adventurous and dynamic, intense and gritty search was underway, for the cutthroat, gunman’s white minivan, seen burning rubber, as it dashed from the scene, igniting this thrilling chase.
Thierry Werts, a representative of the federal prosecutor, said at a news conference in San Diego, on Tuesday night that the targets of the raids had been plotting “imminent” attacks on a substantial scale in the area, which has become a battle zone.
A potential threat that has consumed intelligence and security services since well before the Paris attacks, officials said. Officials declined to provide further details about that raid, citing a continuing investigation.
Kyle Kraska, is no stranger to crime, as the sports director of KMFB-Channel 8, he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, 17 March 2009, after he nearly struck a police officer near Sabre Springs on Saturday night.
The officer was on the corner of Angelique Street and Avonette Court about 8:20 p.m. on a juvenile runaway call when he saw a speeding car headed coming around the bend, the thundering sound coming from the exhausts of a Mercedes–Benz, is what got their attention police reported.
The officer reported that he flashed his lights and had to move out of the way so he would not get hit, However, Kyle Kraska, the driver, in a 2003 silver Mercedes, then accelerated and pulled into the driveway of his home nearby. The officer followed him and arrested Kraska. He was booked into jail and has since been released.
Kyle Kraska’s career started his senior year at Syracuse University, when he landed the weekend Sports Anchor job at WWNY-TV in Watertown, New York, after sharing beds with the manager. From there he jumped into the sheets of WWSB-TV in Sarasota, Florida; KVIA-TV in El Paso, Texas; WRGB-TV in Albany, New York and before riding the midnight train all the way back to WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida.
The direct implication was that people in these stations were marginal figures in American society. Their problems were minority issues, not something for all Americans to ponder.
Then Hollywood came calling and Kyle Kraska accepted a position as evening News Anchor for KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. That was followed by a stint hosting “Hard Copy,” a top-rated nationally syndicated news magazine show. In 1999, Kyle joined KFMB, greeting San Diego news viewers every weekday, as CBS News 8’s morning and noon co-anchor.
Kyle Kraska had a deeper darker past. In 2003, his energetic style of reporting landed him the position of Sports Anchor for CBS News 8 at 5pm, 6:30pm and 11pm.The United States remains a racist, race-obsessed society, and member of the media reflect the racism that stains our national psyche.
As a result, mainstream media coverage of peoples of color, in the United States of America, is inevitably tainted by the nation’s views toward race, and its foundation of White Supremacy.
The winner of numerous broadcast awards for both sports coverage and breaking news, Kyle Kraska has been honored with Associated Press Awards, California Golden Mike Award, New York State Broadcasters Awards and an Emmy Award.
It is unimaginable that a man arrested on minor weapons charge could have risen to this level of national prominence.
Yet this important issue has, not surprisingly, been ignored. Sports rank high with Kyle on and off the set, but without such honest and painful introspection, the American media will never be able to play the critical role demanded of it in a democratic society.
In his spare time, Kyle Kraska– the Boston native, who used to hang out in North Dorchester, near Mass Avenue and Columbia Road, enjoys surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and playing basketball. Kyle Kraska and the American media continue to employ simplistic racial stereotypes to convey meaning and information, particularly when the subject is a person other than the norm in our society: a White, Christian male.
While there is nothing wrong with being proud of a job well done, vanity has no place in our spiritual lives. Our Lord famously illustrated this in his parable of the Pharisee and the Publican in which the contrite tax collector is justified before God rather than the smug Pharisee boasting about his religious achievements.
This prayer for humility starts out with a memorable quote from scripture:
O God, who resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble: grant us the virtue of true humility, where of Your Only-begotten son showed in Himself a pattern for Your faithful; that we may never by our pride provoke Your anger, but rather by our meekness receive the riches of Your grace.
Update: 11 February 2015, at 1.19am
* Mike Montana, age 54, of Superior Painting, has been taken into custody for shooting, Emmy-Award winning Sports Director for CBS, News 8, Kyle Kraska. Kyle Kraska is still in the hospital.
American History Month: African American Perspective
The people are a sovereign, and greatly despotic, but, in the main, just. Most people are not born with prejudice; they acquire them during the socialization process. All of this skin color and hair texture drama is to keep the community divided and fighting with each other, instead of focusing on bring each other up.
African Americans were made to feel ashamed to be alive. They were made to feel less human because they had brown skin. To sociologist, race is a social construction, and races are categories of people set apart from others because of socially defined physical characteristics.
This is true in the United States of America and globally, where groups use physical traits such as skin color, hair texture, and other incidental biological traits and transform them into significant symbols of purported racial differences. Social races may seem to be about biology, but they are in fact a pseudobiological classification system.
For example, in the United States of American, if one parent is Black and the other White, the child is genetically 50 percent White and 50 percent Black. If the American ideas of race are indeed based on biology and science, why does the current racial classification system fail to recognize this child and millions of others as members of a distinctive racial group?
Virtually everywhere in the World, when people encounter others, they see them as White, Black, or Yellow, despite the fact that most are various shades of brown. Or they stress some other obvious traits that set groups apart for differential and unequal treatment.
Moreover, once racial traits become significant symbols, their biological functions are de-emphasized and skin color and other physical features become indicators of moral, intellectual, physical, emotional, and other capabilities.
So-called yellow skin may have some unexplored biological benefits, but as a racial marker many Americans believe it enhances math and engineering skills.
In America and many other parts of the World it matters little that black skin (melanin) protects people against the harmful effect of ultraviolet radiation; what is most important are shared stereotypic beliefs by many that black skin enhances athletic performance, improves sexual performance, induces criminal behavior, and is associated with a variety of others behaviors.
Prejudice is very interesting. There was once a white woman, who became lost and drove through a black neighborhood. As she drove down the street, she noticed people on corners frantically waving their arms and gesturing wildly at her so she became frightened, turned up the windows, locked the door, hid her purse, and drove determinedly.
She discovered, after several blocks, she was going the wrong way on a one way street, and they were trying to help her. This woman had misplaced fears, which are considered prejudice behavior.
Prejudice refers to preconceived judgments about a category of people. All forms of prejudice employ rigid stereotypes that ignore the great variation in individual behavior and focus on a handful of traits that all group members supposedly possess. People tend to have good prejudices about their own group and the dominant group—whether or not they are members.
By contrast, they tend to have negative prejudices toward minority groups, because they are different and are usually incorrectly recognized as inferior. While Sacramento, California is one of the most diverse cities in the World, it is also one of the most corrupt and racist communities in America, but not as bad as states like Texas and Mississippi.
However, people like Mayor Kevin Johnson, of Sacramento, California has complained about being racially profiled and when he took office, the city of Sacramento tried to have him arrested for touring city hall, after hours.
Also, basketball player, for the Sacramento King’s, DeMarcus Cousins has also complained about be racially profiled and harassed in Sacramento, California, but much like the mayor, he remains faithful.
A lot of black men have problems achieving success in Sacramento because the police, the colleges, and employment agencies seem to really try to stop them before they reach their goals of obtaining success legally.
Many people believe that the Ku Klux Klan is dying out because they are simply joining the police force, where they can hide and enforce their agenda, and have the law support them by just claiming that these blacks are all criminals, who are out of control and need to be incarcerated. I think the only reason so many of you like black celebrities is only because they are rich.
We must work on two levels. In every city, we have a dual society. In every city, we have two economies. In every city, we have two housing markets. In every city, we have two school systems. This duality has brought about a great deal of injustice. Black Power, in the beneficial sense, is a psychological call to maturity and a sense of dignity. Black Power is pooling African American political resources, in order to achieve legitimate power. What is necessary now is to see integration in political terms.
There are times when we must see segregation as a temporary way-station to the ultimate goal which we seek. A truly integrated society where there is shared power. Black Power…a call for African Americans and others, in this country to unite, to recognize their heritage, to build a sense of community, to build a sense of community to define their own goals, to lead their own organizations to reject the racist institutions and values of this society. The concept of Black Power rests on a fundamental premise: Before a group can enter the open society, it must first close the ranks.
The civil rights movement’s victories changed African American life in particular and American culture in general. The Black Power and Black Arts movement continued the struggle for freedom in northern and western urban areas where housing and segregation, rising unemployment, and persistent police brutality sparked rebellions that resulted in many deaths and widespread destruction in Watts, Newark, Detroit, and other cities. The Black political convention movement did not create a black third party.
However, one of the most enduring legacies of the era was the rise of Black elected officials. Black student militancy persisted despite the destruction of the Black Panther Party. Black Panther Party was an organization, which raised funds to pay for legal fees, housing, education, food and utility bills for those who were struggling.
The Panthers advocated business development, in the Black economy, taught self-defense, and promoted social and educational objectives that made them a target of the police and FBI to suppress the Blacks and keep them from achieving success. FBI director J. Edgar hoover was determined to infiltrate, harass, destabilize and destroy all Black nationalists and their leaders.
In Oakland, California and Chicago, Illinois, Black Panthers patrolled and monitored their neighborhoods and investigated the police. This alarmed White America because Blacks were uniting and becoming strong. They were opening businesses and becoming educated and really became a strong force. The Panthers arranged free breakfast and health-care programs, worked to instill racial pride, lectured and wrote about Black History, and launched some of the earliest drug education programs.
These activities launched the slogan, “Power to the People.” A noteworthy characteristic of all autonomous racial and ethnic groups is ethnocentrism—the tendency to judge the customs of others according to one’s own cultural standards. Groups that share values, norms, and beliefs with the dominant group typically are highly regarded, while those who are judged to violate important norms are scorned and rejected. As a result, artist, James Brown produced a song called “Say it Loud,” on 7 August 1968, and it was to make people know that their brown skin and tightly curled hair is also good and beautiful.
However, a series of bloody confrontations and shootouts distracted attention from the Panthers’ broader political objectives and community service projects. The passage of civil rights legislation did not resolve the disparities or diminish inner-city alienation of African Americans. As jobs moved increasingly to suburbs to which inner-city residents could neither travel nor relocate, inner city neighborhoods sunk deeper into poverty.
School dropout rates reached epidemic proportions, crime and drug use increased, and fragile family structure weakened. It was these conditions that led the Panthers to liken their neighborhoods to exploited colonies kept in poverty by repressive white political and economic institutions. Few white Americans understood the depths of the black despair that flared into violence each summer between 1965 and 1969, beginning with the Watts rebellion of 1965.
In the summer of 1965, a section of Los Angeles, California called Watts exploded. Watts was 98 percent black. It residents suffered from overcrowding, unemployment, inaccessible health-care facilities, inadequate public transportation, and increasing crime and drug addiction. Almost 30 percent of the black male population was unemployed.
The poverty, combined with anger at the often-brutal behavior of Los Angele’s police force in Watts, proved to be an incendiary combination. A riot broke out on 11 August 1965, when a young black man was racially profiled. The young man was arrested, but a crowd gathered, the police called for reinforcements, and when they arrived, the crowd pelted them with stones, bottles, and other objects. Within a few hours, Watts was in a total riot.
Governor Pat Brown, Jerry Brown’s father, a Democrat, sent in the National Guard to restore order, by the sixth day of the conflagration, Watts had been reduced to rubble and ashes. One reporter commented that Watts looked like Germany at the end of World War II. Thirty-four people had been killed; more than 900 injured; and 4,000 arrested. Totally property damage was more than $255,923,987.98; just imagine how many jobs could have been created with that money and lives saved.
Stories like the Watts riots were not uncommon and were born out of the hatred of racism. You see, while blacks were trying to organize and become strong, the police and FBI flooded their neighborhoods with crack cocaine, so people would get hooked on the highly addictive substance and lose their minds, and that did destabilize the black community, but also spread to the white community, as well. Much like today, police officers paid little attention to the complaints from black people.
On 12 July 1967, a black cab driver was taken into police custody and beaten, protesters gathered at the police station near the Hayes Homes housing project in Newark, New Jersey. Suddenly, a fire bomb went off, and hit the wall of the station house, the police charged, clubbing the crowd.
This triggered one of the most destructive civic rebellions of the period. During four vicious days of a street war, the police and National Guard killed twenty-five black people—most of the innocent bystanders, including two children; a white police officer and a fire department employee were also killed. Wide spreading looting and arson caused millions of dollars in property damage.
Then days later, riots in Detroit, Michigan erupted when police raided a bar, where more than eighty people were celebrating the return of two veterans from Vietnam. As a result, fifty-nine urban rebellions occurred in Detroit, forty three black people died, most of them shot by members of the National Guard, which had been sent by Republican governor George Romney. However, even the National Guard, combined with 200 states police and 600 Detroit police, could not restore order.
People were tried of racism and having their communities ripped apart and were sick of being turned down for jobs, due to their skin color. They did not want to hustle or clean toilets to make it. Citizens were letting feelings out that had never been let our before, that had been bottled up. It really took the bar being raided and some people being beat and killed for the World to see the reality that blacks faced in America.
Today, many people tease blacks because many are poor and denied opportunities based on their physical features. It has gotten to the point where people beat up, steal from and harass black people, in Sacramento, California, and they are told if they speak up or alert the police, “It is YOU, who will be arrested because YOU are black and no one will believe you. And if YOU fight back, I will press charges and the police will believe me over YOU because you are nobody, just another F-ing (unspeakable word).”
Also, because of how many African American parents and grandparents were denied opportunities, they were not able to build wealth like white families and pass it down to their children. It is 2015, and blacks are still not truly accepted by mainstream America, but yet, the country opens up to illegal immigrants and welcomes them with open arms, and even changes the laws to accommodate them. And people still look down at blacks because they have to struggle.
So Black History Month was created to adhere to the American ideal of equal opportunity for all and to end prejudice and discrimination against each other. It is also to highlight the struggles and accomplishment of blacks like Mayor Kevin Johnson, President Barak Obama, Beyonce, Jay Z, Aaliyah, and people like DeMarcus Cousins. So many people like black contributions to society, but totally disrespect average black people.
Cities like Sacramento, California are attempting an ethnic cleansing—which encourages people to kill blacks, Jews, and Hispanics, as they run through gritty ghettos and subway environments. African Americans are essentially a Third World people. White Anglo-Saxon Protestants and their interest and concerns have dominated the mass media. I feel like a broken record, no matter how much I type, nor how much research I do, I keep telling you the same things over and over, in different ways, and I am tired, as there is no incentive and no real benefit for me.
Minorities have been underrepresented, or only presented in terms of the social problems they create for the majority. To understand why whites have a disproportionate share of wealth and power, consider the current climate in America, the history and views shared by your friends, family and co—workers, and that should illuminate why it is so hard to be black in America.
Currently, White Anglo-Saxon Protestants constitute less than 25 percent of the U.S. population. White males, however, constitute 90 percent of newspaper editors and 77 percent of television news directors. Further, white Anglo-Saxon men own, finance, produce, and write scripts for 80 percent of what viewers see daily on television and in featured films. Moreover, white men are disproportionately represented as lead actors and heroes, whereas minorities continue to be cast in the roles of sidekicks, villains, criminals, and losers.
On a more personal note, this is my last entry, I know all of this, it is getting me nowhere and is more of a task, not a joy, and it does not pay, but comes with a lot of responsibility. To be good is to be in harmony with one’s self. Discord is to be forced to be in harmony with others.
I have been doing this for years, and have written thousands of articles, many of which were destroyed because of comments and harassment from bigots. No representative government can long be much better or much worse than the society it represents. Purify society if you purify the government. However, try to purify the government artificially and you only aggravate failure.
Explanations take such a Dreadful Time

Since like and thought began, experience, that unvarying and rational order of the World, has been the appointed instrument of man’s training. Extremes inevitably meet. The bear can dance, and the money, which is one of the most sportive, if not the most formidable, is one of the most malignant of the wild tribes of the forest. A frivolous people are apt to be a savage people; and the most desperate Indian warriors prefer the looking-glass worn about their necks to any other ornament. There lurks an elusive something in the innermost idea of whiteness, which strikes more of panic to the soul than that redness which frights in blood. It is the fate of most men who mingle with the World, and attain even the prime of life, to make many real friends, and lose them in the course of nature. It is the fate of all authors or chroniclers to create imaginary friends, and lose them in the course of art. Poetry is not dead, nor genius lost; nor has Mammon gained power over either, to bind or slay: they will both assert their existence, their presence, their liberty and strength. Powerful angels, safe in Heaven! They smile when sordid souls triumph, and feeble ones wee over their destruction. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Generosity will not surly permit a worthy mind to doubt of its horrible and beneficent intentions: much less will it allow itself to shock, to offend anyone; and, least of all, a person thrown by adversity, mishap, or accident, into its protection. It is seldom that a bad person expects to be accounted good.It is the general desire of such a one to conquer the existing evil impression; but it is generally presumed that the evil impression is there. Sin is the only real color-element left in modern life. The main objection to this argument is obvious. The Ghost demands blood-revenge, and it would seem to be out of character for an agent of good to engage in such a mission. Some look upon revenge as a legitimate alternative to the punishment meted out by the law, particularly if the offended party could not expect to bring his adversary to justice by due process—essentially the situation. However, the answer is unsatisfactory. There are indeed members in society who argue in this vein, but they are rare and hardly representative, being frequently fencing-masters and almost to a man admirer of the dueling code that hard already led to a serious decimation of young bloods in France. Responsible individuals—statesmen, magistrates, and clergymen alike—unanimously condemned such conduct, and I find it impossible to believe that society, who caused the dilemma and the consequences of their choices with such moral and psychological insight, could have accepted the revenger’s code of honor.

An equally familiar and somewhat more plausible argument may also be adduced to explain the significance of the Ghost: society, like his or her fellow dramatists, did not personally regard blood-revenge as justified but followed the so-called revenge convention of the enlightened ones. Dramatic heroes were, in other words, traditionally supposed to have the right to revenge the deaths of their kinsmen, provided that they did not resort to such un-English methods as poisoning or allow their desire for vengeance to express itself in the form of indiscriminate murder, in the manner of Episcopal Priest Israel Ahimbisibwe, his wife Dorcus, and their son Israel Ahimbisibwe Jr., who were found dead in their Huston, Texas home on Monday, 2 February 2015. A maintenance worker discovered the family’s bodies covered in towels and blankets; they have been dead for some time. Police report that Isaac Tiharibondi, age 19, used a hammer to beat his parents to death, then stabbed his brother, age 5, in the neck and back. Isaac Tiharihondi was arrested at the Diamond Motel in Mississippi on Wednesday Morning, 4 February 2015. Isaac Tiharihondi reported to family and friends that he had planned to join the Marines, however, his parents did not believe him and planned to confront him just hours, prior to their murder on 29 January 2015, the day police believe that they were killed. A neighbor recalled seeing Isaac Tiharihondi and asking him why his little brother did not make it to school, Isaac told the neighbor that the boy was not feeling well, but he was already dead.

Family friend, Nancy Taylor, took the teen out to lunch, on the day that he may have murdered his family. There was absolutely nothing in his demeanor that was out of the ordinary, he could not have been more pleasant, more sweet, more fun. It saddens me to think that there was something terribly, psychologically wrong. Isaac Tiharihondi must have had a psychotic break. Isaac Tiharihondi has been charged with two counts of capital murder and is due to head back to court in days. The tradition, however, is by no means so simple. True enough, from 1592 to 1607, we have at times looked deceptively like a stage debate on the question of the justification of revenge, but in no completed reality, a product which it is very difficult to take seriously, would I say that revenge is presented as justified beyond doubt. Somewhere in the execution of his duty, the revenger seems to go wrong and develop into a creature that must not be allowed to survive. Thus, no matter how closely society considered himself obligated to follow his sources—which do accept revenge as the order of nature-it is a demonstrable mistake to say that he had to follow a strong dramatic tradition. First, Isaac Tiharihondi did not have to and, second, the tradition was rather in the opposite direction.

This argument would seem to lead to an unpleasant conclusion: Isaac Tiharihondi attempt to test the Ghost’s veracity ends in a failure to discover the truth; the Ghost is actually the devil’s emissary, and Isaac Tiharihondi follows the advice of the devil when he plans and finally executes his revenge. However, this, I would say, is only apparently so; the real situation is different. In the tragedy Isaac Tiharihondi does not concern himself with the question whether blood-revenge is justified or not; it is raised only once and very late by the protagonist and never seriously considered. The dramatic and psychological situation rather than the moral issue is what seems to have attracted Isaac Tiharihondi, and he chose to develop it, in spite of the hard-to-digest and at times a little absurd element it might involve. Psychotic disorders are characterized by hallucinations and delusions, social withdraw, and a retreat from reality. Psychosis, which tends to be severely disabling, may lead to hospitalization. At times, psychotic persons cannot separate their hallucinations from reality. In addition, their ability to control their thoughts and actions is severely impaired. Here is what a young college student, who became psychotic told his father: It is the strangest things. I hear voices, hundreds of them, telling me that everyone wants me dead. It is like all the radios of the World are blaring all the stations at once, and it does not stop. It jams my brain.

Politeness, even to excess, is necessary on men’s part, to bring us to listen to their first addresses, in order to induce us to bow or necks to a yoke so unequal. Schizophrenia, delusional disorders, and some mood disorders include psychotic symptoms. Psychotic symptoms may also accompany medical problems (such as brain diseases), drug abuse, and other conditions. Since the nature of the Ghost remains ambiguous and there is no safe association between Isaac Tiharihondi and the devil or between Isaac Tiharihondi and God, we have to rely on the impression that his opponents make on us, on first appearance and in revealing scenes together—a standard procedure, I would say, in the interpretation of any society. People seldom commit sin without intending to derive benefit from it. This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brothers were righteous. Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the World hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. There were sins whose fascination was more in the memory than in the doing of them, strange triumphs that gratified the pride more than the passions, and gave to the intellect a quickened sense of joy, greater than any joy they brought, or could ever bring, to the sense. One should never do anything that one cannot talk about after dinner.

The Terror of Eternity–Moving Honesty Forward
Everything changes, the Young Become the Old, No One goes Unchanged. There are not many things in life you can be sure. Rain comes from the clouds Sun lights up the sky, and humming birds do fly. In American, excellence in nothing is justly appreciated, nor is it often recognized; and the suffrages of the nation are pretty uniformly bestowed on qualities of a second class. Numbers have sway, and it is as impossible to resist them in deciding on merit, as it is to deny their power in ballot boxes. You have constantly acquired some new excellence, like a snowball.
As the election of 1800 approached, the Federalists were in disarray. They had squandered the political advantage handed them by France in 1798 and now, with peace a reality, stood before them nation charged with the unconstitutional exercise of federal power, the suppression of political dissent, and the intention of using the federal army against American citizens. The party, moreover, was bitterly divided. The Hamiltonians were furious at John Adams did not withdraw, the Hmailtonians plotted his defeat.
Emotions were running high as the election approached. Fisher Ames berated the Federalists’ opponents as “fire-eating salamanders” and “poison-sucking toads.” While the Jeffersonians returned the abuse in kind. Both sides believed that the republic’s survival depended on their own political triumph. This election, Jefferson declared, will “fix our national character” and “determine whether republicanism or aristocracy” will prevail. The Federalists saw the choice as between republicanism and an “anarchy.” In Virginia, rumors of a slave insurrection briefly interrupted the feuding, however, the scare quickly passed and soon Federalists and Jeffersonians were at each others’ throats once again.
Though the federal government was little more than a decade old, the electoral vote in 1800 revealed the sectional divisions that already troubled national politics; through election day was tense throughout the nation, it passed without serious interruption, and as the results were tallied, it became clear that the Jeffersonians had handed the Federalists a decisive defeat. The two Republican candidates for president, Thomas Jefferson, the Republicans’ first choice, and Arron Burr, their other nominee, each had 73 electoral votes while Adams followed with 65.
Because of the tie vote, the election moved to the House of Representatives, as provided in the Constitution. There a deadlock quickly developed. In spite of considerable pressure from Jefferson’s supporters, Arron Burr refused to give way. The Federalist caucus decided to back Arron Burr, believing him less dangerous than Thomas Jefferson on the thirty-sixth ballot, ten states to four. (Seeking to prevent a recurrence of such crisis, the new Congress soon passed and the states ratified the Twelfth Amendment, providing for separate Electoral College ballots for president and vice president.) The magnitude of the Federalists’ defeat was even more evident in the congressional elections, where they lost their majorities in both House and Senate.
The election’s outcome revealed the strong sectional division now evident in the country’s politics. The Federalists remained dominant in New England because of regional loyalty to John Adams, the importance of the area’s commercial ties with England, and fears, fed by local ministers and politicians alike, that the Jeffersonians intended to import social revolution. From Maryland south, Jeffersonian control was almost as complete. In the middle states, the election was more closely contested because Federalists and Jeffersonians were more evenly balanced and issues of foreign and domestic policy cut across society in more complicated ways. In the years ahead, such sectional differences would continue to shape American politics.
The conflict between Federalists and Jeffersonians was deeply rooted as well in socioeconomic divisions among the American people. The Federalists were strongest among merchants, manufacturers, and commercial farmers located within easy reach of coast—groups that had supported the Constitution in 1787 and 1788. “Here [in Connecitcut] as everywhere,” claimed one Federalists leader, “the men of talents, information, and property…are found among the Federalists. In both New York City and Philadelphia, the Federalists were strongest in the wards where assessments were highest, houses largest, and addresses most fashionable.”
Remembered later as the man who shot Alexander Hamilton in a duel in 1804, Aaron Burr came within a few votes of defeating Thomas Jefferson for the presidency in 1800. (Collection of the Harris Historical Society.)
By 1800, presidential elections were generating increased popular interest, as evidenced by this textile banner celebrating President Jefferson’s victory. (Harris Institution.)
As the election returns indicated, however, the Jeffersonias marshaled significant support in urban areas as well among workers and artisans, many of whom had once been staunch Federalists. The primary reason for their shift in political allegiance was illustrated by an episode that occurred in New York City in 1795. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
The work of salvation means that in your life things are dramatically changed. You no longer look at things in the same way. Your desires are new and the old things have lost their power to attract you. Has God changed the things that really matter to you? If you are born again, the Spirit of God makes the change very evident in your life and thought. It is complete and amazing change that is the very evidence that you are saved.
Take now your son, God’s command is “Take Now,” not later. We know something is right, but we try to find excuses for not doing it immediately. If we are to climb to the height God reveals, it can never be done later—it must be done now. And the sacrifice must me worked through our will before we actually preform it.
If the providential will of God means a hard and difficult time for you, go through it. By going through the trial you learn to know God better. If there be a mirror in the World worthy to hold men’s eyes, it is that country [Atlantis]. All men like to assume superiority over himself, by holding up his bad example and sermonizing on it. Individuals must always begin by setting the examples, which the state too slowly, though surely, will learn to copy. A virtuous mind need not be shown the deformity of vice, to make it be hated and avoided; the more pure and uncorrupted our ideas are, the less shall we be influenced by example. I am not your man, that can all be changed.
Oh! The metempsychosis! Oh! Pythagoras, that in bright Greece, two thousand years ago, did die, so good, so wise, so mild; I sailed with thee along the Peruvian coast last voyage—and, foolish as I am, taught thee, a green simple boy, how to splice a rope, to have the sense of the eternal in the short flight for the soul. To have had it is the soul’s vitality.
Thomas Burke and Timothy Crady, two recent Irish immigrants, operated a ferry across the East River between lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. One day in early November, Gabriel Furman, a merchant and Federalist alderman, arrived on the Brooklyn shore a bit before the scheduled departure time. Impatient to get across, Furman instructed the ferrymen to leave early. When they refused, he upbraided the rascals for their disrespect and threatened to have them arrested. Timothy Crady was especially angered by the alder man’s arrogance. He and Thomas Burke, Timothy Crady exploded, “were as good as any buggers,” and he threatened to use his boathook on anyone who tried to arrest him. Women will suggest a thousand excuses to themselves for the folly of those they like.
When the ferry landed on the Manhattan shore, Gabriel Furman had the two arrested, brandishing his cane at them as they were led off to jail, where they were charged with vagrancy; their employer offered bail, but Gabriel Furman refused to allow it, and so they remained 12 days in Bridewell prison awaiting trial. All passions are criminal in their excess and even love itself, if not is not subservient to our duty, may render us blind to it.
Thomas Burke and Timothy Crady were eventually hauled before Mayor Varick and three other Federalist aldermen, sitting as the Court of General Sessions. The judges quickly decided to make examples of the two insolent Irishmen. “You rascals, we’ll trim you,” Mayor Varick allegedly said; “we’ll learn you to insult men in office.” The two ferrymen were not allowed to speak in their own behalf, nor were friendly witnesses permitted to testify. The magistrates found the two guilty on charges of insulting an alderman and threatening to the constable, sentenced them to two month at hard labor, and ordered that 25 lashes be laid on Timothy Crady for good measure.
Within a month, the two ferrymen had bolted from jail and disappeared into Pennsylvania, never to be heard from again. The episode, however, was not yet over, for a young Jeffersonian lawyer named William Keteltas publicly castigated the “tyranny and partiality of the court” and concluded that Thomas Burke and Timothy Crady had been published to “gratify the pride, the ambition and insolence of men in office.” The authorities, he charged, acted to protect the mayor’s reputation?
When William Keteltas was hauled before the authorities for his insolence, 2,000 citizen carried him through the streets chanting, “The Spirit of ‘76” and waving a banner sardonically inscribed “What, you rascal, insult your superiors?” All excess is vicious; even that sorrow which is amiable in its origins, becomes a selfish and unjust passion if indulged at the expense of our duties.
In the politically charged setting of the 1790s, when the Revolution’s legacy was still in dispute, tensions between social privilege and democratic equality suffused American political life. Given the Jeffersonians’ opposition to Federalist arrogance, support for revolutionary France, challenge to the Alien and Sedition Acts, and defense of religious liberty, those tensions worked steadily in the Jeffersonians’ favor.
The political alignment evident in the election of 1800 resembled but did not duplicate the Federalist—Anti-Federalist division of 1787-1788. The Jeffersonian coalition was much broader then the Anti-Federalists’ had been, for it included countless individuals, from urban workers to leaders such as James Madison, who had supported the Constitution and had helped set the new government on its feet. Unlike the Anti-Federalists, the Jeffersonians were ardent supporters of the Constitution, but insisted that it be implemented consistently with political liberty and a strong dependence on the states.
Far more than the Federalists, they also believed that government should be broadly accountable to the people. Nationally, the Jeffersonians now enjoyed a clear political majority. Their coalition would dominate American politics well into the nineteenth century.
Nothing is bad, however, as fast as it is pracited to excess, or attended with accidental evils which defeat the promise end; or, in short, when the abuse of it is greater than it uses. Excuses carry with them the principles of their own destruction.
Fear of Self: Everyone thinks they will be the Exception
What poor excuses will good heads make for the evils they are put upon by bad hearts! The eyes have longer been considered the windows of the soul, which means they convey what a person may be experiencing. If you doubt someone’s word, you may ask them to look you in the eye. Many seasoned inspectors claim to have detected propaganda by watching the eyes of their subjects. Psychologists believe that such instances we are mainly interested in the size of a person’s pupils. Emotion affects the pupils. Specifically, arousal, interest, or attention can activate the sympathetic nervous system and cause the pupils to dilate (enlarge).
Dilation of the pupils can occur during both pleasant and unpleasant emotions. Despite this face, most people tend to interpret large pupils as a sign of pleasant feelings and small pupils as a sign of negative feelings. When researchers showed two photographs of an attractive young woman to a group of men; in one photograph, the woman’s pupils were large, and in the other photograph, her pupils were small. The men consistently described the woman with the large pupils as soft, feminine, or pretty. The same woman, with small pupils, was described as hard, selfish, and cold. This effect does not just apply to women. People of both sexes consider both men and women with enlarged pupils to be more attractive. (Perhaps at long last, we know why bad guys in movies always have beady eyes!)
So are wondering, why are so people so weird and seem to fake or act when they are in public? Well, the answer could be a number of things. Perhaps they are lying to obtain government benefits, which they are not entitled to, or they may have social phobia. In a social phobia, the person fears social situations in which he or she can be observed, evaluated, embarrassed, or humiliated by others. This leads affected person to avoid certain social situations, such as eating, writing, using the rest room, speaking in public, or being around certain people. When the situation cannot be avoided, the person endures it with intense anxiety or distress. Social phobias greatly impair functioning at work, at school, in social activities, or in personal relationships. About 13 percent of all adults are affected by social phobias at one time or another.
He who can sit down premeditatedly to do bad actions will content himself with a bad excuse: and yet, what fools must he suppose the rest of the World to be, if he imagines them as easy to be imposed upon, as he can impose upon himself? To say that a thing must be one or the other is to miss the significance of the whole. Some men are scared of men, in other words they fear themselves. There was once a man, who was so crippled by obsessive thoughts, about being gay and attracted to other men, that he was unable to live independently and had to move back in with his parents, after in stint in a state mental hospital, to cope.
It turns out the man had Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, associated with homosexuality. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, associated with homosexuality, is a preoccupation with certain distressing thoughts and feelings, about being homosexual, and feelings of compulsion to perform certain behaviors. True obsessions are images or thoughts that intrude into consciousness against a person’s will. These emotions are so disturbing that they cause anxiety or extreme discomfort.
The particular patient, a young male, who we will call Peter, was so obsessed with being gay that it gave rise to compulsions, which are irrational acts a person feels driven to repeat. Often times when Peter was in close contact with another male, who he found attractive, but fear being rejected by, Peter get extremely uncomfortable and run out of the room, like he had seen a ghost; however, Peter admitted that he had some sort of feeling that he was attracted to others guys, and upon physical examination, it was apparent that he had recently had a sexual encounter with another male or an adult toy for arousal.
Peter claimed that he was straight, but he had intrusive thoughts that were not based on any hard reality. After further research, it became clear that Peter did not need to be treated for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, but he needed proper treatment for a sexual orientation crisis that has nothing to do with mental illness. Peter had a sexual obsession and suffered from pathological doubt. Even though Peter knew he was 100 heterosexual, not gay, but he second guessed his sexual preference. For example, Peter would say things like, “I spent way too much time in class looking at that other guy. What does that mean?” Peter got lost in the need to know—the need to be sure.
Occasionally, a person learns they are gay, but because they are some, with limited experience, in life, they have a hard time dealing with the feelings and urges, or a fear of contracting a disease. Many people falsely assume that just because homosexuals are generally accepted, that people will have no issue dealing with their sexuality. However, often times young men and sometimes older men fear what their father and mother will think, and their peers, so they act out, in an irrational manner, when they are near men that they have feelings for. Peter did not have general obsessive compulsive disorder because he was comfortable around men, he did not find attractive, and underage boys.
Therefore, it became clear to doctors that Peter actually had a phobia of being around attractive men. He would frequently chase women down the block, or obsess about women, as a method of trying to convince others that he was not homosexual. It is possible that Peter even got subtle body sensations, being aroused by another man, and did not know who to deal with these feelings, so he would freak out. The only way to treat Peter is that he needs to attain self-acceptance. Also, in Peter’s case, medication may be effective in treatment, in addition to behavioral therapy. Changing thinking patterns of anxious individuals can greatly lessen their fears.
What to do when your burden is overwhelming? Cast your burden on the Lord. You have been bearing it all, but you need to deliberately place one end on God’s shoulder. Commit to God, whatever burden He has placed on you.
Do not just cast it aside, but put it over onto Him and place yourself there with it. You will see that your burden is then lightened by the sense of companionship. However, you should never try to separate yourself from your burden. Everyone thinks they will be the exception.
Your Valentine: Nature and Love are Busy in Conjunction
There is no pure love, but strong love. When I was young, people used to write each other love letters and buy people they liked gifts.
And on 14 February, over 150 million Americans will send someone they love a gift or a greeting card to express how important they are. Americans will spend $17.3 billion on 14 February 2015, for Valentine’s Day. Of that money over $2 billion will be spent on flowers and another $2 billion on flowers.
Some people will even buy Valentines gifts for their pets, and it is projected that they will spend as much as $703 million on their pets to show them how much they are loved. Men will spend an average of $230.00 on their significant other, and women will spend about $196.00 on their mates. I hope I get a gift this year, I would be happy with a box of those crunchy heart candies.
Before you go getting all pessimistic about Valentine’s Day, there is a romantic story of injustice and perseverance behind it. And with the economy being bad and so many people expressing their callous and harden hearts, please show your significant other how much you care, trust me, it will make a difference and stay on their mind forever.
The study of love is very much like that of meteorology. We know that just about so much rain will fall in a season; but on what particular day it will shower is more than we can tell.
We know that just about so much love will be shared every year, in a given World; but who will rain his or her young affections upon the heart of whom is not known except to the astrologers and fortune-tellers. And why rain falls as it does and why love is made just as it is, are equally puzzling interrogations.
When nature has made us ripe for love, it seldom occurs that the fates are behindhand in furnishing a temple for the flame. In the third century Rome, Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers, than those with wives and families, therefore, he outlawed marriage for young men. Nature and love are busy in conjunction.
Saint Valentine, realizing , love is like an instrument like any other thing, and we must play on it with considerate gentleness, he defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages, for young lovers in secret.
The wishes of two lovers make a will. When Saint Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered him imprisoned and put to death, for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured, and for performing marriages.
Hear, O Lord, my righteous plea; listen to my call. Giver ear to my prayer—it does not rise from deceitful lips. May my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right. Though you probe my heat and examine me at night, though you test me, you will find nothing; I have resolved that my mouth will not sin.
As for the deeds of men and women—by the word of your lips, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent. My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not slipped. I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.
Show me the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the light of your halo, from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies, who surround me.
They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance. They have tracked me down, they now surround me, with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.
They are like a lion hungry for prey, like a saber tooth tiger hunkering down in cover. Rise up, O Lord, confront them, bring them down; rescues me from the wicked by your sword.
O LORD, by your hand save me from such men and women, from the men and women of this World whose reward is in this life. You still are the hunger of those you cherish; their sons and daughters have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.
And I—in righteousness, I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness. It is a curious subject of observation and inquiry, whether hatred and love be not the same thing at bottom.
Each, in its utmost development, supposes a high degree of intimacy and heart-knowledge; each renders one individual dependent for the food of his affections and spiritual life upon another, each leaves the passionate lover, or the no less passionate hater, forlorn and desolate by the withdrawal of his subject.
However, during his imprisonment, Saint Valentine healed the daughter of his sick jailer, Asterius.
And on 14 February, before his execution, Saint Valentine wrote the young lady a letter: Whatever some lovers may sometimes say, love does not always abhor a secret, as nature is said to abhor a vacuum. Love is built upon secrets, as lovely as the sunset, upon invisible and incorruptible piles of in the sea.
Love’s secrets, being mysteries, ever pertain to the transcendent and the infinite; and so they are as airy bridges, by which our further shadows pass, over into the regions of the golden mists and exhalations; whence all poetical, lovely thoughts are engendered, and drop into us, as though pearls should drop from rainbows.
Then Saint Valentine signed the letter, “Your Valentine.” The love that survives has strangled craving; it lives because it lives to nourish and succor like the heavens.
There is knowledge and knowledge. Knowledge that resteth in the bare speculation of things; and knowledge that is accompanied with the grace of love and faith. We must not be inactive because we are ignorant. Our good purposes must hurry to performance, whether our knowledge be greater or less.
Early love of roguery makes rakes run away from instruction; and so they become mere smatterers in the sciences they are put to learn; and, because they will know no more, think there is no more to be known. In a civilized society, law is the chimney through which all that smoke discharges itself that used to circulate through the whole house and put everyone’s eyes out—no wonder, therefore, that the vent itself should sometimes get a little sooty.
A glorious, softly glorious, and most gracious evening, which seemed plainly a lounge to all humanity, saying: I go down in beauty to rise in joy; Love reigns throughout all Worlds that sunsets visit; it is a foolish ghost-story; there is no such thing as misery. Would Love, which is omnipotent, have misery in his domain?
Would the god of Sunlight decree gloom? It is a flawless, speckles, fleckless, beautiful World throughout; joy now, and joy forever!
How can you be a College Graduate?
One thing that really gets on my nerves is people who use the same words over and over, as if they have a limited vocabulary. A lot of people, especially young reporters use the term crazy to describe everything. It does not matter if the situation is good, bad, astonishing, amazing or a miracle, these youth will say, “That’s crazy.” It irritates me so much because they come across as ignorant. Crazy is not even a real word, it means nothing.
