The Diamond Ring is a Phenomenon of the Soul
Whatever knows certain things cannot have any of them in its own nature; because that which is in it naturally would impede knowledge of anything else. There is never time to say our last word—the last word of our love, of our desire, faith, remourse, submission, revolt. Many ancient scholars like Plato, Socrates and Pythagoras wanted to explain how the Universe works rather than justify why everything is for the best. The contrast of the physiological conditions of human behavior with the reasons the agent has for acting as he does because of the rational agents are of their very nature incorporeal. Rationality is somehow essentially supernatural and the bodily occurrences involved in rational behavior cannot be completely compassed in any scientific explanation. Justification and appraisal of actions is so totally different from the causal explanation of physiological events, questions and answers belonging to the one Universe of discourse cannot rival those belonging to the others. The word soul is etymologically related to such words in the Greek language as alive (literally, ensouled), and swooning or death (literally, abandonment by the soul). #RyanPhillippe 1 of 6
The eyes are admittedly material, yet that does not prevent us from using them for seeing material things, including other people’s eyes and even—in mirrors—our own. Death is a matter of the soul’s permanently leaving its body; the soul was thought of as a puff of air, an invisible vapor, that would be dispersed in the breeze. Thus, every little gust of wind causes a new deflection of light, and this produces the phenomenon, after passing through the highest layers in the atmosphere. In this connection we might therefore distinguish two sense of soul. In the first, to have a soul means to be alive; in the second soul is the word for a class of suppositious entities, corporeal but elusive. At first, they appear as curious plays of light, chiaroscuros, like the evanescent luminous dappling when the Sunlight passes over forest leaves. Souls are caused by a phenomenon analogous to stars twinkling at night. We are created from spirit. It is that spirit that will lead to our next destination. Those who hold the desire, those who remove the layers of illusion, those who compromise the image of what we are, will be able to stand the truth, merge with the light and continue. Those who do not will inevitably experience, in their frequency, the full, spectacular force of the Earth Changes. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 6
The soul Is not only to sense organs but also to that principle of intellectual operation which we call the soul—something which is radically different from anything corporeal. That is why it is so important for us to strive for balance of the spirit and the flesh. The soul is the principle of life. In this sense we do have souls, for to say that a creature possess a soul in this sense is just a misleadingly substantival way of describing it as alive. The flesh can only transmute in accordance with the spiritual fortitude we can hold within our consciousness. The season of the flesh is past. Become one with your spirit. Learn to be one with the Creator. The soul in this sense is equivalent to the term soul construed as a synonym for person (albeit for persons recognized to be incorporeal objects). The soul is as the principle of life and is the bearer of moral values. The soul is something that moves itself and that whatever moves itself must be ingenerable and incorruptible. God is the Unmoved Mover. Justice and equality are corresponding abstract ideas or forms. These ideas are eternal and incorporeal substances, intelligible to the intellect as material things are sensible to the sense. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 6
After all, you have heard of Universal Laws, and how the Bible says do on to others are you would have them do on to you because everything you put out there will come back to you. These Ideas of Universal Laws, justice, and equality are thought of as providing answers to both questions about criteria—What makes an X count as an X?—and to question of a more casual character—What is ultimately responsible for the existence of X’s? The soul is the principle of life, and this is equated, in terms of the theory of Ideas, with the Form of Life. Everything is frequency, it is a matter of harmonics. It is up to each one of us to accept and embrace the God within (the soul). No one will come to lift us from our own chosen dilemma. That is what we have created; only we can change the outcome. That is why it is so important to realize that humanity, collectively acting as individuals, each working with what is before us each day, can affect the outcome of our destiny as a whole. Life can never be overcome by Death. Thus, the conclusion is that the soul as the very Idea of Life is essentially deathless and eternal and, hence, the immortal part of us is not destroyed by death, for our souls will exist somewhere in another World. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 6
The Abstract Intellect (or any other putative Abstract Reality) is essentially eternal is really no reason for saying that anything at all actually goes on forever. In a way, it is correct to say that such things as necessary truth and the logical relations between abstract mathematical concepts are somehow timeless and eternal. Yet this is not a matter of the existence of anything imperishable, but rather, of its not making sense to ask temporal questions about the periods during which any of these trusts and these relations obtain. From eternity in this sense we can have nothing either to hope or to fear. The distinction between two senses of eternity is fundamental in discussing personal immortality. We are concerned only with a life that would live on forever; the eternity of mere abstraction is not to the point. In the light of this distinction we can better appreciate that the soul belongs to the same category as the abstract Ideas and, hence, that is the sort of thing that may be presumed immortal. The presumption that an incorporeal substance would be naturally incorruptible and souls, like everything else, are sustained by God and would be at once annihilated if he chooses to withdraw his support. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 6
Because every sort of thing has its once congenital evil, because nothing can be destroyed by anything but its own congenital evil, because the congenital evil of the soul is wickedness, and because wickedness as such is never directly lethal to the wicked man, our souls must be immortal. Our intellects are both incorporeal and substances. Pure intellectual activity, abstract cognition, is something rather grand, almost divine, and occupations only for the highest sort of person. The soul, therefore, includes the intellect and is in no way truly itself an individual. And so it is truly a form beginning with, and ceasing to be with, the body; nor can it in any way operate or exist without the body. The principle of intellectual operation which we call the soul is both incorporeal and subsistent. It is likewise impossible for it to understand by means of a bodily organ; since the particular nature of the organ would prevent its knowing all bodies; compare the way in which liquid put into a glass vase seems to be of the same colour, not only when some particular colour is in the pupil of the eye, but when it is in the vase. #RyanPhillippe 6 of 6

The Passions of the Soul and the Concept of the Mind

Many people would like to believe in reincarnation because they are attached to their loved ones and want them to stay with the forever. However, it is possible that the soul is immortal, it is even possible that reincarnation and the transference of the soul is possible. Nonetheless, even if your loved one returns and has memories of you and who they are, it does not mean that they will accept you or even love you the same, as it the past, so it could leave you vulnerable, and in a position to get hurt over and over and over again as you try to work with them and be understanding. You may even see characteristics of the past person in this new form, but you have to understand that they have had difference experiences. And, as you know, death can be traumatic, so if someone could return from the day, they may care about you, but they may also be a different person. There are some people who believe in reconstitution of the soul, and they may spend a decade or even a lifetime looking for their loved one to return because no one they have met has ever be as kind and loving as the soul who has transitioned. Any reconstitution doctrine of the soul is confronted with the question, “How is the reconstituted person on the last day to be identified as the original individual, as opposed to a mere replica, an appropriately brilliant forgery? Well, the whole purpose of believing in reconstitution of the soul is because love and the familiar make many people feel safe and protected in the World. It might also be suggested that though there might indeed be cases in which all other merely human observers must be entirely at a loss, the person himself could not fail to know whether he was the original person rather than a channeling or a replica. I have seen in one particular case where there was a discrepancy between who was the original and who was the reconstituted. Reconstituted people may only be mere replicas of and surrogates for their Earthly predecessors. The person claiming to be the original knew intimate details that only an individual who had been there could know. The problem was not two people battling over an identity. However, it was his son having problems accepting him because the way he was treating him.

Nevertheless, the individual in question claimed that he was actually the individual and it was his right to have special privileges and that his son should be understanding towards him considering what he had been through and the fact that he had been here all along watching him and knew of things that had happened and was upset. The point can be brought out better in the case of the argument that the person cannot fail to know who he is. This argument depends on the premises that if I remember doing something, I must have done it and that normal people in normal situations are usually able to remember the most important features of their lives. However, honest and however convinced, claims that you did something do not guarantee that you actually did it. All the time he was singing, the music held me in its spell, filling my head with images of his service in the war and what happened to his friends, and only he would know that, and with emotions of the Oakland A’s games we used to go to when I was a kid, that had long been absent. My eyes pricked with tears. The objection will be that it will not be identically the same man that shall rise again…After the change wrought by death the selfsame man cannot be repeated. When I heard the reverberation of the plainsong in the upper echelons of the cathedral or the stalls of our little country church, I had a moment of understanding. The voice startled me back to the present. I turned to see this man with a shock of copper hair and an open, thoughtful face smiling at me. The soul, even after separation from the body, retain the being which accrues to it when in the body…Consequently there has been no interruption in the substantial being of a man, as would make it impossible for the selfsame man to return on account of an interruption in his being. At that is precisely why this man is claiming that he is the original, he is the one who has been here all along. The nature of the soul and its relation to the bodily machine can be characterized to serve certain ends. The soul is justified by its purpose, and cannot be referred either to the mind or to the body alone. Again, in the air there always are and always have been vulgar or not so vulgar theories about bodies, minds, and souls and their survival natures, destinies and relations, with no guarantee that these theories can be harmonized with the meanings of such terms as “mind” or “soul.”

I took it away. First and foremost, to save Fella from those who might have destroyed it, and it had sent that child’s true soul Heavenward. It was a dreadful error. Some people believe that the soul is a vapor, blood, or something that order and must that extent ne interpreted as embryonic scientists and those thinkers who urged that the essence of the soul is motion, sensation, or some combination of the two. The mind is like a compass certain sort of achievement. In this sense of “mind,” then, someone can do these things because he is endowed with a first-class mind. The soul is the person. We are our souls. We use our hands, our eyes, our whole bodies. Thus, I cannot be my body. Yet, it is agreed that I must be my soul, my body, or a combination of both. However, because the user and the thing used are always different and because I use my body, I cannot be either my body or my body and soul combined. Thus, I must be my soul. Eyes sometimes play tricks on us, this shows that we see not with, but through, them, that they are, as it were, built-in optical instruments. We are sometimes dragged down by the weakness of the body or some part of it. I was dreaming about a family I knew, and I went back to visit them, and I was surprised that the kids had not aged because it had been over a decade. The house still looked exactly the same, but I noticed that the father now had blue eyes, instead of brown, but he looked exactly the same. The mother was also still the same age as when I met her, but her personality had changed. She was very uptight and all she did was clean the house. In the dream, I had a vision of the original mother, who I did not now and she had thick brown hair, and the mother who I did know had fought her to when the matriarch position in the family, but now had become a cleaning woman who lived in the back of the house because she had aged and was replaced by this younger uptight woman. These families did not die out, but they would keep the same names and replace members as they started to age. Strong witches appeared in various generations. Perhaps it was to care for the young children who never seemed to age. The origins of the family history are that a witch has called up a spirit quite by accident, a spirit who appeared to be a brown-eyed man—a spirit who was to haunt the family for generations. It was the ghost of a human being or some astral being without a human story.

It was biding its time, generation by generation, until a witch would bear its children, a witch with psychic powers enough to assist it to possess that unborn fetus and be reborn within it. Over generations he brought this family great wealth in any number of ways. And the men he despises and punished if they got in his way. The spirit did not understand who he was or what he wanted, except to be reborn. He guided everything to that purpose: to come through, to be flesh and blood again. We may infer that we drive our bodies as we drive our cars. Personal pronouns, personal names, and all other person words, words which clearly must refer to something which, it seems, equally clearly cannot refer to bodies, the only available corporeal objects, must therefore refer to some incorporeal objects, the conclusion is that these are the objects to which we apply the term souls. You must keep your name to be part of the family, if you were to be connected to the Legacy. People are what you meet. We do not meet only the sinewy containers in which other people are kept, and they do not encounter only the fleshy houses that we ourselves inhabit. It is therefore wrong to suggest that the word “person” is equivalent to the word “soul” in this sense of “soul” and, hence, to imply that it is contradictory to deny that people are incorporeal objects and that it is absurd to say that you can see a person. We all have certain ideal concepts, such as the ideal of perfect equality, which we cannot have acquired in our lives because they are never fully instantiated in this World. In both forms, the conclusions is that these facts can be accounted for only in terms of memory. We, or “our souls,” must have acquired our knowledge of the conclusion of the theorem of Pythagoras, which states that the soul is immortal, and it transmigrates as comprehensive soul that includes all psychic faculties. Pythagoras also believed that the soul preserved personal identity and could be well contained in the pattern of emotions, that constitute a person’s character. For the soul to be reincarnated, it is then believed that life as a human is actually enjoyable. After certain periods of time the things that have happened once happen again and nothing is absolutely new. This is the doctrine of eternal recurrence.

Transmigration this seems to have been extended to include the idea that we and indeed the whole World will be reborn into the lives that are exactly the same as those we are living and have already lives. Pythagoras actually believed that he was an incarnation of the God Apollo, which seems rational because he was a very smart man, he knew remarkable thing and possessed the greatest wealth of intelligence and accomplished all sort of wise deeds. Pythagoras even invented the Pythagorean theorem, which is a fundamental relation in Euclidean geometry among the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the square of the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angel) is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides. Architects use the Pythagorean theorem, which is expressed by the equation: a2+b2= c2, in designing and computing the measurements of building structures and bridges. One example is involving roof design. A gable roof is made of two right triangles, where the base of one right triangle is called the run, the height is called the rise and the slope is called the rafter. When looking at Victorian architecture, it is so opulent and detailed that I often wondered, what kind of people would think to design and build such houses, which seem to defy physics and were built by hand, one hundred years ago and even earlier. Well, perhaps they were Gods or had lived more than one life. For instance, Pythagoras reported he remembered being an incorporeal being in the Underworld for three years and that is when he decided to be reincarnated. However, reincarnation has never been so popular in Western society because the idea of pre-existence involved in the conclusion does not square with Western orthodoxy. However, how were these great thinkers born with such important logic and a link between (true) memory and personal identity. If I really do remember certain truths or being acquainted with certain objects, then it follows that at some time in the past I must have learned them or made that acquaintance. And most human’s today, are so diluted that they are no longer capable of critical thinking. Genetically modified food is the way to go and people should be focused on perfecting plants and vegetables to exactly replicate the taste and textures of a steak or chicken or even your favorite fish.

Doctrines of Immortality—Time Ruthlessly destroys his Own Romances
I used my strongest vision to penetrate the reeking darkness to my life. He thinks I am the one whom he will presently see as a corpse, and he asks how to bury me. And though I have been saying at great length that after I drink the poison I shall no longer be with you, but shall go away to the joys of the blessed, he seems to think that was idle talk uttered to encourage you and myself. The essential general theory of motivation is there is a limited number of prime movers by whose conative force every train of though and every bodily activity is initiated and sustained. These prime movers were first described as instincts, and later were redefined and as propensities. The extent to which instinctive dispositions are modified both on the cognitive (receptive) side and on the conative (responsive) side, primary instincts are to be defined by reference to the central or affective components, the primary emotions. They are then organized into more complex motivating dispositions, the sentiments. A sentiment is conceived of as a system of instinctive disposition organized around an idea. Patriotism, for example, is a complex organization of instincts directed to promoting the welfare of a national group. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 5
The motivating force in man is organized in a three-tiered hierarchy. At the base are the primary instincts of propensities. At the second level are certain regulating and controlling principles, such as benevolence and cool self-love, and at the summit was the ultimate controlling principle, which is identified as conscience. Man born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He springs up like a flower and withers away; like a fleeting shadow, he does not endure. Do you fix your eyes on such a one? Will you bring him before you for judgment? Who can bring what is pure from the impure? No one! Man’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set the limits he cannot exceed. So look away from him and let him alone, till he has put in his time like a hired man. If you only would hide me in the grave and conceal me till your anger has passed! If only you would set a time and then remember me. We shed tears for our brother, and gave him our music and our tears while he was alive. If he was not wept for and given our music and flowers then, well, not there is no need, because he is no longer aware. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 5
If a man dies, will he live again? It is clear that the truth in questions is somehow connected with the imagination rather than with the ordinary cognitive powers of the mind. The first point is that the essence of doctrines of personal survival (or immortality)—and precisely this and this only is what gives them their great human interest—is that they should assert that after our deaths we shall continue to exist (forever). Only in this way can they provide the basis for unique expectations—that we shall, to put it as noncommittally as possible, have experiences after death, that death will not be our terminus but the beginning of a new journey. All the days of my hard service I will wait for my renewal to come. You will call and I will answer you; you will long for the creature your hands have made. The human body is a corporeal element, there is also something else, different in kind—the incorporeal soul. For duration of a life the soul is somehow attached to—incorporated into or imprisoned in—its body. Although the soul is incorporeal, it is nevertheless a substance, something that could significantly be said to exist independently of anything else. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 5
He feels but the pain of his own body and mourns only for himself. The soul is not a harmony, for it would not even make sense to suggest that a harmony might survive or, for that matter, precede the elements of which it is a harmony. This is no more possible than that there could be a grin without a face to grin it. The point is that the soul must be the person or, at any rate, the real, true, or essential person. This, though it is sometimes neglected, is crucial. Unless it is established that I am my soul, the demonstrate my of the survival of my soul will not demonstrate my survival, and the news that my soul will last forever could provide me with no more justification for harboring these logically unique expectations than the rather less elevated assurance that my appendix is to be preserved eternally in a bottle. The second doctrine is, in its purest form, extremely simple and direct. It consists in urging the resurrection of the body or, more accurately, the reconstitution of the person. Whereas the first doctrine insists that I am the sort of thing that could perfectly well escape unharmed and unnoticed at death (if you can catch me and I do not get away); the second recognizes that to be truly a human person, I have to have the corporeal human form. It then relies on an act of sheer omnipotence to produce the immortal me. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 5
Does not man have hard service on Earth? Are not his days like those of a hired man? Like a slave longing for the evening shadows, or a hired man waiting eagerly for his wages, so I have been allotted months of futility, and nights of misery have been assigned to me. When I lie down I think how long before I get up? The night drags on, and I toss till dawn. Why have you made me your target? Have I become a burden to you? For I will soon lie down in the dust; you will search for me, but I will be no more. The Shadow-man doctrine is the claim that a person is kind of a shadow man, sufficiently human and corporeal to overcome the problem of identification with the familiar flesh and blood person and at the same time sufficiently ethereal and elusive to have no difficult in escaping unnoticed from the ordinary Earthy body which is destined to be burned or buried. Some modern spiritualists also hold this view of the astral body, which detached itself at death to proceed on its journey to the Summerland. Perhaps the best way of conveying the idea to the modern reader unfamiliar with wither patristic or spiritualist literature is to refer to the many films in which a spirit is shown as a tenuous shadowy replica of a man that detaches itself from him at death and is thereafter visible to the entire audience, but only to favored characters in the film. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 5

Every Temple had been Phished with Enough Success
The greatest advantage acquired in travelling and pursuing mankind in the original, is that of dispelling those shameful clouds that darken the faculties of the mind, preventing it from judging with candor and precision. Time—I see it not, I feel it not: it I but s shadowy name—a succession of breathings measures forth by night by the clank of a bell, by day by a shadow crossing a dialstone. Absence makes the heart grow found, but suddenly, I felt hot, and I was beginning to sweat. I adjusted my tie and tried to fan myself, but the sweat just kept rolling down my face. How could I be in the house of the Lord feeling like this, lusting after someone else’s mate while I sat next to my own? I felt my penis begin to expand and I had to fight hard to keep an erection at bay. “That was beautiful, was it not?” the bishop asked when the performance was done. The congregation responded in a chorus of “Amen.” I cherished the greatest respect towards everybody’s religious obligations, never mind how comical. By a toleration of what is detested we expose ourselves to the keenness of an adverse mind. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 5
The timidity natural to minds of quick and delicate perception increased evidences of trust and confidence in my efforts. “Now, I would like you to open your Bibles to Isaiah 41:11-16,” said the Deacon. “Brother, it is time.” I almost jumped out of my skin and out of the pew when I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. When I glanced in the aisle, Deacon Miller was standing there next to me. “Huh? Time for what?” “It is time to take up the collection.” “Oh, yeah, I am sorry, Deacon. I will be right there. The deacon walked away and I turned to Christina. “I will be back.” Christina nodded approvingly. She was so proud that I was starting to make the moves to become a deacon of the church. I adjusted myself under my suit jacket and carried the Sunday program in front of my bulge. As I passed the collection basket along each row, the swelling in my pants went down, and I purposely avoided looking in the direction of the choir. The last thing I wanted was to be passing the collection plate and have someone spot the tent in my pants. I could just hear the whispers behind Christina’s back now. I closed my eyes and prayed. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 5
What sort of explanation or account could we hope to find, supposing it were to be definitely established that precognition does indeed occur? Presumably this would have to cover whatever other parapsychological phenomena were also found to be genuine. To provide such a theory would be enormously difficult, if not impossible. In any case, in the present confusing and apparently contradictory state of the evidence in this field, a state which should no doubt be attributed (at least in part) to the lack of any theory adequate to serve as even the most tentative of working hypotheses, it is impossible to say with confidence and precision just what are the phenomena is which we need to take account. In each case the reason for talking of precognition is not that any particular guess can, at some stage, be identified as precognitive but that, after the guesses have been checked against the targets, the proportion of hits in a series of guesses is found to be significantly above mean-chance expectations. #RyanPhillipe 3 of 5
With appropriate alterations the same thing seems to be true of all ostensible parapsychological phenomena. Guesses, even if they have been solid and on point in the past, does not mean the plot will work on every target. Suppose insider stage a crime and break laws in staging this crime, but the target never responds as expected so they cannot hold him because this one is an outlier, he does not fit the statistical averages. So then to cover up the insider commit a crime, they engage in outrageous behavior in hopes of getting the outlier to “go off” so they can prove that he was a threat in their precognition was right, but he does not react to their plans and they are running out of time to cover up the crimes they committed. Not only do the insider now face criminal charges, but they also face a financial liability for the harassment, abuse, and torture of their target. This is why precognition is not something used in law enforcement because humans have free will and you cannot convict someone of a crime they did not commit. It is usually argued that that whereas this perhaps has to be allowed in the case of quantitative experiments in card guessing, dice throwing, and so forth, it does not apply at all to what appear to be spontaneous cases of telepathy and clairvoyance, nor precognition. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 5
When you set someone up and target a person and try to predict how they will behave and have contingency plans to contain them to cover up your criminal behavior, that is entrapment and a criminal conspiracy, at the very least, and is surely wrong. However, suppose someone we find that someone who had no means of inferring that the Titanic might meet disaster nevertheless has a dream which is later to have corresponded in amazing detail with what actually happened on the night when that great ship went down. Still, our only warranty for describing his dream as precognitive lies precisely in that extraordinary degree of correspondence: any single item of correspondence might be dismissed as something which was bound to happen “by the law of averages,” and so no single item can be picked out as unequivocally precognitive. Much like my relationship with Christina, she has not been treating me right for several years, so it is not precognition that my heart would wonder, but more by the law of averages. This is no reason to ignore or to dismiss the evidence. However, it may very well prove to be a significant theoretical pointer. The task of reconstruction and interpretation is thus very different from and more precarious than that of interpreting a philosopher whose original writing are still available for study. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 5

The Philosophical Implications of Foreknowledge through the Looking Glass

Time heightened their blessings, and their declining years were like a setting Sun, which gathers fresh splendor, as it gradually vanishes from our sight. Now it is necessarily true that is anything is to be seen or otherwise perceived—and not just “seen” or “perceived” (in discrediting quotation marks)—that thing must be presently available. (We ignore for present purposes the peripheral problems presented by very distant stars.) It is inconceivable that anyone should be able to see things which do not yet exist. Nevertheless, the correct conclusions to draw is not, as some have been inclined to think, that precognition is logically impossible. The correct conclusion is, rather, that is the phenomenon specified was to occur, it could not be conceived of as any sort of perception. The soul’s life has seasons of its own; periods not found in any calendar, times that years and months will not scan. The discussion reduces to absurdity not the notion of precognition as such but the assumption that such precognition can be assimilated to perception. Suppose one beings by thinking of precognition not as foreseeing but as foreknowing. Suppose then that one happens to be one of those who conceives of cognition on the model of perception. That is, of course, a misconception, but on with most ancient and distinguished pedigree. One relevant reason for insisting that this model is inapplicable is that whereas it is logically possible for me to know now that certain things happened in the past and that other things will happen in the future, it is not logically possible for me now to perceive anything, but what is not available to be perceived.

Thus, anyone who thinks precognition as a form of knowing and of knowing as a sort of perceiving will arrive by a rather longer route at exactly the same conclusions—that the future is present—as the person who beings by thinking of precognition as a type of perception. In either case the treatment indicated is essentially the same. Now, if that ambiguity is characteristic of the presentations of the individual soul, so also does it characterize the presentations of the soul World; what is real is also image, and the real and the imaginal are inseparable. The fact is most people who has tried to theorize about non-inferential precognition have made needless difficulties for themselves by making two mistakes. In the first place, they have tried to assimilate it to sense-perception, when they ought to have assimilated it to memory. And, secondly, they have tacitly assumed an extremely naïve prehensive analysis…[which] is simply nonsensical when applied to ostensible remembering or ostensible foreseeing. By prehensive analysis we mean believing, mistakenly, that for an occurrence to be remembered it must somehow be present. If you know Time as well as I do, you would not talk about wasting it. It is him. Time touches all things with destroying hand. We went down there. It was the most godforsaken slum I had ever seen. The very slabs of the sidewalks had floated away in the mud, buildings had collapsed into heaps of lumber, and the weeds were like fields of wheat. And there stood this classic raised cottage with its fresh white paint and panted garden. It has a high picket fence and gate, and a bell at the gate and we rand, and up on the porch, a tall woman opened the door and stood there in her stilettos with the light of the hall behind her. It was Aaliyah Haughton.

She knew who we were. It was astonishing. She complimented me on the Randolph Harris Phillippe Research and Development. She thanked Matthew for coming to Queen Akasha’s wake years and years ago. She was very pleasant to us, she had a sweet and loyal side and was helpful, generous, and compassionate, but she did not ask us in. She was quite fine, she said. She had not really disappeared at all, just become a solitary. I remember using every grain of second sight that I might possess when I looked at her, and a deep spell overtook me. It was the timbre of her voice, and the way that she walked, which set her apart. The center of gravity was not in her hips as it should have been in a human female. And her voice, it has a rich musical dimension to it. She had a soothing and appealing voice that conveyed the depths of her emotions and experiences. She used to thrill me at all times, the way she could phrase a note with a certain something in her voice no other entertainer could get. She has music in her soul and felt everything she did. As for the rest of her, she was a shadow up there. The suggestion is that precognition would be an exact analogue and complement of memory, but where memory operates backward, precognition would be remembering forward. Sometimes you may be a sense that someone is in danger and they may also get that sense, but it is so overwhelming that they may get of sitting in isolation hiding from fate, warning them may not do any good because they are tired of fate haunting them and may just want the natural course to take its place. Now, if someone remembers that he himself killed San Francisco, and provided that he really does remember and that he is not merely claiming, mistakenly or even dishonestly, to remember that he committed this crime, then it follows necessarily that he did kill San Francisco.

However, if he has done it to, then he has done it, and it must now be too late for anyone to intervene to save the victim. It is, notoriously, a tautology that what is done is done and cannot be undone. The past is unalterable. The temptation is to argue that the same must, in exactly the same sense, apply to the future. If I can truly preconize that I will kill San Francisco—provided that it really is a precognition and that I am not merely claiming mistakenly, or even dishonestly, to be preconizing—then it follows necessarily that I will kill San Francisco. The false step is to go onto urge that by parity of reasoning, since he will do it, then he will do it, and therefore it must now be too late for anyone to save San Francisco. For the conclusion does not follow. For he will kill San Francisco, we are entitled to infer that he will kill San Francisco and hence that no one will in fact save the bird. However, what we are not entitled to infer is that it must be too late to take any steps to save San Francisco, that no one could possibly do anything to help. It is one thing to know that some catastrophe will in fact occur; it is quite another to know that there is now nothing that anyone could do to prevent it, even if he wished. To know what he will in fact do it, it is sufficient to know that in fact will: tautology. It is not necessary also to know, what may very well not be the case, either that he would not have been able to do otherwise had he been going to want to or that no one else would have been able to stop him had they been so inclined.

This point is, of course, involved in much wider question of whether foreknowledge in the general sense must carry any such fatalist implications. The wider question is beyond the scope of this article, but the debate offered here is as applicable to the wider context a to this narrower one. The problem remains why it should be thought, as obviously it often is, that to establish the reality of noninferential precognition, even as an extremely weak and rare faculty, ought to raise fatalist anxieties in much more acute form than does, for instance, the present possibility of inferring the outcome of some not too distantly future election—on the basis of a knowledge of the present preferences, psychological traits, beliefs, and expressed voting intentions of the electors concerned. What is wrong with that? I will tell you what is wrong. One cannot physically defend oneself without being threatened with being locked away indefinitely. However, these critics, and there are many can choke, burn, beat and poison, kidnap, and torture, stalk and harass one particular individual—that is all right: “Have patience”… “The customs are entrenched” … “Things are getting better.” Well, I believe it is a crime for anyone who is being brutalized to continue to accept that brutality without doing something to defend himself. If that is how “Christian” philosophy is interpreted, if that is what Gandhian philosophy teaches, well, then, I will call them criminal philosophies. Moreover, these critics have elevated this tragic experience into a noble crusade. Indeed, even today, they have not permitted themselves to reject nor to feel remorse for this shameful episode. To show that human wishes, plans, and decisions do not affect what happens would indeed be to demonstrate a fatalist conclusion; for this is precisely what “fatalism” means. However, to show that someone can know without reference to that other person’s wishes and plans, what another person is going to do is, surely, not sufficient to show that those wishes and plans will not determine his course of actions.

The special anxiety felt in this case of precognition is just one more consequence of thinking in terms of a perceptual model. If in having a precognitive experience you were, as it were, seeing the future, then indeed it would be absurd to insist, once that experience has taken place, that there are any steps which anyone could take that could prevent the fulfillment of the precognition. This means that you cannot make an exception here, or an exception there. It means continuously, and with everyone and everything. The one or two things you hide being probably represent a stack. That is why you are hanging on to them. It is not just this annoying person you hate; they represent a whole stack of that energy to you. Eventually, everything is surrender that stands in the way of the Presence. The Presence is so obvious, so startling, so overwhelming, that there is no question about it. It is profound, total, all-encompassing, absolutely overwhelming, totally transforming, and completely unmistakable. When everything is surrendered that stands in the way, it is there, shinning brilliantly forth. Instead of viewing this as something in the future, own it now. It would be absurd so to insist because on this assumption of literal foreseeing, the event preconized would by now have been seen happening. However, once an event has happened there cannot be anything that anyone could possibly do to prevent it from happening. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

The Serial Theory of Time the Soul’s Life has Seasons of its Own
To see Time’s full face, it is sometimes necessary to look through keyholes, the veteran having a trick of smiling peace to you on one cheek, and grimacing confusion on toe other, behind the curtain. Precognition is simply the Latin equivalent of foreknowledge. However, this has come to have a more specialized meaning as a semitechnical term for one of the phenomena or putative phenomena of parapsychology (psychical research). This articles touches on the wider issues of foreknowledge only insofar as they appear in a rather special form in the narrower context of parapsychology. Precognition is one of a group of terms that also includes telepathy, clairvoyance, and—more peripherally—psychokinesis (PK). Telepathy is thought of, initially at any rate, as consisting in the acquisition of information by one person from another without the use of any of the senses normally indispensable to communication. Clairvoyance, at the same initial stage, is conceived of as being generically identical with telepathy; the specific difference is that in the case of clairvoyance the information is supposed to be obtained not from another person but from an object. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 8
Telepathy would be termed precognitive if the information so acquired was not doing to become available to the other person until later. Clairvoyance would be termed precognitive if the information so acquired was not, until later, even going to become available in things, as opposed to minds. It is thus possible to consider precognitive telepathy and precognitive clairvoyance as being two species of the genus precognition. Straight telepathy, straight clairvoyance, and both sorts of precognition are all supposed to be nonsensory and noninferential. Suppose someone has an intuition or a dream or a waking vision that is found to correspond to some actual later happening. Suppose that is seems out of the question either (1) to account for the correspondence as the result of successful inference, conscious or unconscious, from materials available to the subject at the time, or (2) to trace it back to some causal ancestor common to both the anticipation and the fulfillment, or (3) to say that the fulfillment was somehow the result of the anticipation, or (4) even to refuse to account for the correspondence in any way on the grounds that it was just a coincidence. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 8
(The counterargument in this last case would be that some intuitions, dreams, visions, and so forth, are bound to prove veridical and that presumably this was just one of those striking cases that is—as the catch phrase has it “by the law of averages” bound to occur occasionally.) If such an intuition, or what have you, were to occur we would—provided that all four conditions seemed to be met—have at least a prima facie case of precognition. Psychokinesis means movement by the mind. The idea is that perhaps some people sometimes may be able, whether consciously or unconsciously, to move or otherwise affect things without pushing or pulling them, and indeed, with out in any way touching either the things in question or any other things involved in the process. The Vineyard House in El Dorado County, California was built by Robert and Louise Chalmers in 1878 and it is a seven-bed-room Victorian. Robert, who was an accomplished man and had once held a seat in the state legislature, began to go mad not long after. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 8
Eventually Robert Chalmers’s mental deterioration became so severe that he would carry on whispered conversation with himself and lie in freshly dug graves to see if they would fit his body. It was at this point that Louise locked Robert in the cellar of their enormous house. People passing by the Chalmers’s house often reporting hearing terrible moans and screams emanating from the structures basement. Rumors suggested that Louise completely abandoned her husband, except to deliver his meals. Others claimed she treated him as humanely as she could under the circumstances, and she had a bad reputation with men, as her first husband committed suicide. Whichever the case might have been, Robert himself decided that is wife was trying to poison him. He stopped eating the food she brought him and starved himself to death. Thus meant that, just as her first husband had done, Louise Chalmers’s second husband took his own life. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 8
Although there is no concrete proof to support the conjecture, the events of the next few years make a decent case for Robert’s spirit having come back to haunt Louise. The vineyards stopped producing, depriving Louise of what had once been a substantial income. It soon because necessary for her to rent out some of the rooms in her palatial house. When that ploy did not bring in sufficient funds, Louise’s creditors began to assume control of her shrinking holdings. The cellar where Louise had held her suffering husband prisoner became a temporary jail for those about to be hanged. When the criminal’s time was up, a gallows was constructed on Louise’s front lawn. By the time she died in the early 1900s, Louise was financially and emotionally destitute. Her once beautiful house was run down—and badly haunted. For nearly 50 years, the property fell to a succession of owners. No one stayed too long. Usually, the sounds of Robert’s spirit rattling the chains in which Louise had him bound—or footfalls shuffling up and down the basement stairs—were enough to chase prospective innkeepers to another business venture. For a while, the house stood empty. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 8
In 1956, the old place was reclaimed and converted to a restaurant and inn. The cellar that once held the tee-totaling Robert Chalmers became a bar. Revelers were often treated to sounds on invisible taffeta skirts rustling and labored breathing emanating from invisible sources. A bartender once watched in awe as wine glasses gently—and quite impossibly—slid across the bar. In 1975, a family named Herrera bought the Vineyard House in partnership with their friend David Van Buskirk. The new owners were confident that their experience in the hospitality industry would serve them well. The foursome put countless hours of work into the place. Gary Herrera spoke of painstakingly choosing colors and fabrics, ordering vibrant shades only to have his shipment arrive completely different shades than he had chosen. Puzzled and annoyed by the turn of events, Herrera had the shock of his life while leafing through a scrapbook that he had found in the house. It was from the Vineyard House’s early days and revealed that the colors and fabrics that has been mistakenly delivered matched the original décor. #RyanPhillippe 6 of 8
The man, who had been a skeptic on the subject of the supernatural, immediately developed a new respect for force that he could not see of fully understand. Perhaps he or somebody else had consciously or unconsciously influenced psychokinetically the décor in order to increase the degree of correspondence between the guest. One consequence which has often been thought to follow from the existence of precognition is that, sensationally, the future must somehow be already here—or at any rate there. This is usually derived from a conceptions of precognition as a mode of perception of extrasensory perception. The Chalmers’s ghosts were not content to remain so subtle, however. When a young couple checked into the hotel, the man decided to turn out the lights in their room so he could play a trick on his partner. He then sat down on the bed and waited for her to come out of the bathroom. When he felt someone sit on the bed, he presumed that it was his partner and that his ruse had been effective. He turned on the bedside lamp. Unfortunately for the man’s nervous system, it was not his girlfriend who had joined him but a stern-looking, bearded man! The image soon faded, but the guest recognized the face from a photograph he has seen while checking in—Robert Chalmers’s apparition had clearly not approved of the young man’s attempt to tease the lady in his life. #RyanPhillippe 7 of 8
Others were disturbed in the middle of the night by what they thought were partiers finally arriving back to their rooms. The guests were understandably annoyed at the inconsiderate behavior and opened their bedroom door to let the noisemakers know that after-hours revelry was not appreciated. Much to the guests’ surprise, three men dressed in Victorian styles stood near the top of the staircase. For a moment, the couple stared at the images in complete shock. As they did, the images stared back at the couple in equal, if not greater, astonishment before dissolving. Now that the house is once again a private residence, only time will tell whether the ghostly energy that permeated the building has dissipated for good. We habitually observe events before they occur. By valid inference from this misdescription it is concluded that the future must therefore really be present. Precognition—foreseeing arbitrary events in the future that could not by any stretch of the imagination be inferred from the present—that is something which is almost impossible for our minds to grasp. How can anyone see things which do not yet exists? Maybe time is not linear and sometimes bleeds together, maybe people from the past can see into the future and people in the present see into the past. #RyanPhillippe 8 of 8

Do Not Make this Darkness your House: It is a Party so Big People Call it a Festival!

Do not make this darkness your house when you can turn on the Light. Do not you wander here searching and moaning. You go on Turn back on this time and place and beg for the gates to open. Searing flash of angels, I drifted deeper, brain descending into the sweetness of human exhaustion—far from the ring of the anvil between the Worlds, far from the torrent of Heaven. I was refreshed. The evil little cells in my body had done their dirty and inevitable work. And if I would have had any terrible dreams, I did not remember them. We are principled creatures. I never stopped loving you, not for an instant. I warned you twice to be patient with your family because I knew it was right for you to do so. I was trying to curb your insults, and your abuse of those you loved. However, you would not listen to me. Since moral knowledge is a sentiment or feeling which arises on the observation of an action or character trait, it is not the result of comparing ideas, and this it cannot be a conclusion of reason. #RandolphHarris 1 of 5

Any actual experience of love could enter into such a system only as a harbinger (something that shows what is coming) of disaster. For not only could one be burned at the stake in punishment for adultery, but, according to current belief, one would also burn forever in Hells. And yet love came, even so, to such noble hearts as were celebrated at the Foam and Diamond party; not only came, but was invited in. And it was the work of the troubadours to celebrate this passion, which in their view was of a divine grace altogether higher in dignity than the sacraments of the Church, higher than the sacrament of marriage, and if excluded from Heaven, then sanctified in Hell. And that the word AMOR was the reverse spelling for ROMA seemed marvelously to epitomize the sense of the contrast. So, through the eyes love attains the heart: for the eyes are the scouts of the heart, and the eyes go reconnoitering for what it would please to the heart to possess. And when they are in full accord and firm, all three, in the one resolve, at that time, perfect love is born, from what the eyes have made welcome to the heart. #RandolphHarris 2 of 5

Not otherwise can love be born or have commencement than by this birth and commencement moved by inclination. To be noted well: such a noble love is not indiscriminate. It is not a love thy neighbor as thyself no matter who one may be; nit agape, charity or compassion. Nor is it an expression of the general will to gender, which is equally indiscriminate. It is of the order, that is to say, nether of Heaven nor of Hell, but of Earth; grounded in the psyche of a particular individual and, specifically, the predilection of one’s eyes: their perception of another specific individual and communication of one’s image to another’s heart—which is to be (as we are told in other documents) a noble or gentle heart, capable of the emotion of love, amor, not simply lust. The lover is to experience depths beyond depths of transcendent illumination—much in the way Prince Charming appreciates Cinderella. Love is a celebrated experience that can never be absolutely realized on this Earth. #RandolphHarris 3 of 5

Love’s joy is in its savor of eternity; love’s pain, the passage of time; bitter sweetness and dear grief are of its essence. And for those who cannot bear grief, and desire but to bathe in bliss, the ambrosial potion of this greatest gift of life is a drink too strong. Love me, love the way love must be, unsparing love. Across the perilous void I moved, as if stepping off the very World itself, and I kissed your lips, wet and reeking of the foul water, and I felt a great current come from inside me, a wind out of the deepest root in me that swept inexorably into you and carried you far, far away, up and out, you from growing faint and immense and brilliant. One immediate discovery was that every negative feeling or thought is associated with guilt, and this guilt is so all-encompassing that it is constant being suppressed. There is guilt every time when have a critical thought about someone. The mind’s constant judging and criticizing of the World, its events and people, is an unending source of guilt. It is that deadly combination which pulls us all down and creates such widespread illness and unhappiness. #RandolphHarris 4 of 5

The guilt is so omnipresent that no matter what we are doing we feel somewhere in our mind that we should be doing something else. We have lived with so much guilt for so long that we do not even recognize it anymore, and somehow that guilt is projected by the average mine onto the World around it. That is why most people need an enemy—and object on which to project their inner guilt. It is also where tyrants get their power, by manipulating people’s guilt and finding a satisfactory target for it. All his life he wanted to be very much liked by people. He went to the party because he wanted to make an impression on Dr. Z. Over time, the experience of knowing is replaced by thinking. Knowing comes on in a totally different manner. Believe me what I say there are ancient ones of our kind who would never tolerate such a thing happening. I have a stronger desire which I am using the time to satisfy, for instance, a desire to finish a book or a desire to lie in a hammock and do nothing. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 5

Why they so Faithfully Followed I did not Know
The rural dark fell down around me. I let go of the music. We are the mirror of awakeness and our own face in it. What is is the mystery that is infinitely aware and all that is in awareness. Extra-sensory perception (ESP) can be explained in terms of mind or mental forces. However, there do not seem to be sufficient grounds for inferring that the unknown entities or forces responsible for ESP are mental. There is a continuum of cosmic consciousness, against which our individuality builds but accidental fences, and into which our several minds plunge as into a mother-sea. The reason for postulating a collective unconscious may be either to suggest that one person’s experience can directly influence those of another, because all experiences are really contents of one all-embracing Mind, or to suggest that one person’s experience can affect another’s indirectly, via modifications in substratum called common unconscious. Our nonseparate being is the Nothing that excludes nothing. When we are not separating ourselves from what we are by our thoughts of being separate, this bare nothingmess feels very intimate. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 5
The swamp seemed the most savage and devouring place, with no pastoral symmetry or harmony to it. Each person is at each moment potentially aware of all concurrent events and of all one’s past experiences and that to prevent one from being overwhelmed by useless knowledge the brain suppresses all information except that which is relevant to one’s present practical needs, which leads to normal memory and perception. It is a short step to equating with ESP the knowledge suppressed by the brain. It seems extravagant, however, to explain a few people’s sporadic exercise of ESP by supposing that potentially we are all almost omniscient. This seeing focuses like an automatic zoom lens, moving in deeper and deeper to the truth of the moment. Without denying nor refusing anything, it moves through the words, through the story, through the thoughts, through the feelings, through the energy body to the pure innocence of what we truly are. When a person exercises clairvoyance one’s mind is being influenced by or is influencing physical things outside one’s body in the same way as one’s mind normally interacts with one’s own brain. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 5
What thrived here was a ravenous and battling to the death, and would never find a safe haven for itself—a landscape eating itself alive. Dualism is taken for granted, but dualism involves notorious problems concerning mind-body interaction which the proposed account of clairvoyance does not seem to render more intelligible. Where was my lust? The blood tempest that sweeps into its vortex all desire to know, to absorb, to abide, to possess, to kill, to love? It was a drenching storm inside of me. However, I am so very strong. That is a given, is it not? And when you love another, you do not strive to hurt. Never. The trivial operations of the heart are burnt away in quietude. Burnt away in humility that I could feel this, know this, and contain it with my prudent soul. This potential to transcend the limitations of the human condition is certainly a most essential human capacity. The human realm is one of six domains that we know of and it happens to be the most fortunate real to be born in. The dualistic mind is prehumen, or subhuman because it opens up a larger expanse of being presence that is free from our ordinary, personal involvement in immediate existential situations. This path leads from the bondage of the conditioned mind to the liberation of true awareness. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 5
So let them shine over the vast pastureland to my right, over the distant clusters of evergreen trees, over the warmly lighted houses far behind me. ESP provides evidence for dualism. It already involves telepathy (true awareness) and our perceptual experiences are caused directly by volitions of the divine mind. The phenomena of clairvoyance would also have to be attributed to telepathy, with God as the agent, since material objects, when unobserved by human minds, consist, in ideas or archetypes of God’s mind. One can readily agree that the World as we experience it is better adapted to be a vale of soul-making than a hedonistic holiday camp. Yet there are difficulties about even the soul-making view. Some human suffering (the unmerited suffering of young children, for instance) cannot always be treated plausibly as developing moral fiber, or as realizing any other moral value. The natural environment can figure as the destroyer of moral personality as well as its preserver and nourisher. Fully inhabiting our humanness involves a willingness to open fully to the rawness of creaturely existence, and feel what it is like to be subject to hurt, limitation, conditioning, and death. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 5
Transcending our humanness means gaining access to the larger domain of pure being and limitless awareness that is not bound by conditioned existence at all. Centuries ago, I had been dumped for dead in the swamp by my fledglings; and I, a hideous and grasping thing, had survived in those stagnant, polluted waters, survived to come back and take my battered and shapeless revenge, sharpened to a fatal point by others. I do not care about that. I do not know how long I walked. I took my time. The night sounds were at once particular and at the same time a deep hum of the warm breeze, and the Moon was high, sometimes penetrating a break in the swamp that only revealed its jagged hateful chaos more harshly. Now and then I stopped. I looked at the scattered stars—so cunningly bright in the country night. And I hated them, as usual. What comfort was it to be lost in the endless Universe, a simpleton on a tiny speck of revolving dust, whose forefathers had read patters and meaning into these countless unknowable points of cold white fire, which only mocked us by their unchanging indifference? My soul was in the swamp tonight. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 5

The Intelligibility of the Human Mind in a World that is like a Machine

The World is like a machine. Machines are made by human beings, in accordance with plans. No one can really understand what it would mean for a God, who is eternally perfect to receive greater glory. The World and the human mind are so related that we can learn more and more without limit. We have done all we can when the critic has nothing left to allege except that the investigator is in the on a cunning or skillful act or scheme intended to deceive or outwit someone. However, when nothing else is left to allege, he will allege that. I have observed in myself a simple and easily explained example, which is probably a good model for similar occurrences of those familiar “remarkable coincidences” wherein we meet a person of who we were just thinking. Here is the situation so please follow me closely or you may miss the point. During a walk through the inner city a few days after the title of “Professor” was bestowed on me, which carried with it a great deal of prestige even in monarchical cities, my thoughts suddenly turned to a childish revenge-phantasy against a certain married couple. Some months previous, this couple had called me to see their little daughter, who suffered from an interesting compulsive manifestation following the appearance of a dream.

I took a great interest in the cause, the genesis of which I believed I could surmise, but the parents were unfavorable to my treatment and gave me to understand that they thought of applying to a foreign authority who treated by hypnotism. I now fancied to myself that after the failure of this treatment, the parents begged me to take the patient under my care, saying that they now had full confidence in me, etcetera. However, in my phantasy I answered: “Now that I have become a professor, you have confidence in me. The title has made no change in my ability; if you could not use me when I was instructor, you can get along without me now that I am a professor.” At this point, my phantasy was interrupted by a loud “Good evening, Professor!” and as I looked up, there was the same couple on whom I had just taken this imaginary vengeance. In the view of the comparative rarity and inconstancy of extra sensory-perception phenomena, it is tempting to conclude that these awkward facts should be segregated and disregarded as a sphere in which nature unfortunately provides no discoverable law. However, this sure is an unscientific attitude to adopt.

Science as we know it would never have developed had scientists ignored rare phenomena that conflicted with their current theories. If physicists had ignored magnetic phenomena or the results of the Michelson-Morley experiment has been content to say that principles of Newtonian mechanics remained shows as heuristic maxims, physics would be very different from what it is today. Nonetheless, the next reflection destroyed all semblance of the miraculous. I was walking towards this couple on a straight, almost deserted street; glancing up hastily at a distance of perhaps twenty steps from me, I had seen and realized their stately personalities; but this perception, following the model of a negative hallucination, was set aside by certain emotionally accentuated motives and then asserted itself spontaneously as an emerging phantasy. He had caught all of my revelation and it had sunk deep into him, and he was wearied, and sad. His wife went to him and opened up his arms, and he received her with the utmost tenderness. He kissed her cheeks as though the truth had broken open in him a powerful chaste communion.

Many who argue ESP is incompatible with physics usually start with the question-begging definition of “telepathy” as the action of one mind upon another. However, their main case is that for ESP to be explainable by physics it must, by analogy with radio transmission, be attributed to a physical radiation. However, the inverse-square law applies to all known forms of physical radiation. (The only exception is radiation concentrated in a beam, which will have little attenuation with distance. However, this does not seem relevant, since there have been many successful ESP experiments with a group of subjects scattered in different directions.) One the physical radiation theory we should, it is argued, find a marked decline in scoring level when the subjects’ distance from the source of radiation is much increased. However, all investigators agree that there is no covariation between distance and scoring level, and successful experiments have been performed over distances of several hundred miles, even thousands of miles.

In one experiment, a young man was in distress and not saying anything about the pains he was experiencing, and he was screaming his head silently about someone he had been looking for over a period of months and was also in pain and having fevers. A young lady that he was closed to started posting pictures on her social media account letting him know her head was hurting. Then she would sit next to the fireplace indicating that she was hot. Then she went out to dinner with her sister, who she had not seen in a while. After a while, he started to wonder was this young lady picking up on his painful vibrations, and he asked her and she told him, “I know. I can hear and feel you.” Since ESP is being likened to radio and radio sets have amplifiers and volume controls, we can suppose that the brain possesses an automatic volume control that amplifies weak ESP signals. Physical barriers do not affect ESP, as one would expect on the radiation theory. So, he started to wonder, if she can hear and feel me, then why is my dad not responding?

And a few days later, hours after Valentine’s Day, on 15 February 2016, he was talking to man in the store at like 2am and it reminded him of his dad, he even thought it might be because sixty days had gone by, but knew that he would see him again. And just two days later, he dad appeared at their meeting spot, at the time they used to meet and showed him where he lived. So although they have not been seeing each other much, he walks past his dad’s house almost every day and is happy to see signs that he is at the house, and knows that when the time is right, they will reconnect again. Electrical energy in the agent’s brain is transformed into psychic energy, which can be diffused over any distance, passing through obstacles without attenuation. One reaching the subject’s brain it is transformed back into electrical energy, thus producing neural patterns and experiences corresponding to those of the agent. Psychic energy must have a form of physical energy.

In telepathy the state of the agent’s brain affects the state of the subject’s brain, without any continuous chain of intervening events, and indeed without any transmission energy. Any two substances exert an influence on each other which tends to make them become more alike. The strength of this influence increases with the product of their complexities and decreases with difference between their patterns. This influence has hitherto produced observable effects only in the form of ESP, because the human brain is by far the most complex structure in the World; however, eventually, telepathic interaction will be detectable between computing machines if or when the machines could be made sufficiently complex in structure. For a physicist a physical transition, by definition, involves a transfer of energy. No matter how simple the organism, its structure must be fitted to the satisfaction of its needs, or it will not survive. It is not too unbelievable, there are polygraph machines which can measure brainwaves and blood pressure and determine the likelihood that someone is being truthful or not. Theory is not a complete explanation of the existence teleological order in the World; it merely tells us how some cases develop from other cases. The origin of life forms lifeless matter.

The Universe is like an artifact like a house, ship, or watch, and it is designed for the realization of goals outside its internal functioning; it is intended to be used for something. For instance, Saturn, the planet, is a source of intense radio emissions, which have been monitored by the Cassini spacecraft, and recently NASA decoded sounds coming from the rings of Saturn, and they sound quite moody, almost like the cry of a dolphin or the sound effects from a 1960s ghost film, and they are actually quiet relaxing. Also, the Cassini spacecraft is 234 million miles from the planet and is using radio and plasma wave instruments to pick up the soundwaves. Therefore, if the analogy with artifacts is the main support for the notion that the Universe was the result of conscious planning, that support would be firmest if the grounds were presented for thinking that the Universe as a while was well fitted to be used for something. And if this something was of maximum value, we would then have a basis for attributing supreme goodness to the designer.

Discovering Divine Design in Loveable Wonder

If other phenomena, as, those maintained by the spiritualists, should be proven, we should then consider the modification of our “laws” as determined by the new experience, without becoming confused in regard to the relation of things of this World. I admit that conscious ignorance and unconscious knowledge of the motivation of psychic accidentalness is one of the psychic roots of superstition. Because the superstitious person knows nothing of the motivation of his own accidental actions, and because the fact of this motivation strives for a place in his recognition, he is compelled to dispose of them by displacing them into the outer World. If such a connection exists, it can hardly be limited to any single cause. As a matter of fact, I would believe that a large portion of the mythological conception of the World which reaches far into the most modern religions, is nothing but psychology projected to the outer World. The dim perception (the endo-psychic perception, as it were) of psychic factors and relations (which naturally have nothing of the character of perception) of psychic factors and relations of the unconscious was taken as a model in the construction of a transcendental reality, which is destined to be changed again by science into the psychology of the unconscious.

It is difficult to express it in other terms; the analogy to paranoia must here come to our assistance. We venture to explain in this way the myths of paradise and the fall of man, of God, of good and evil, or immortality and gap between the paranoiac’s displacement and that of superstition is narrower than appears at first sight. When human beings began to think, they were obviously compelled to explain the outer World in an anthropomorphic sense by a multitude of personalities in their own image; the precisions or persons. In that regard, they behaved just like paranoiacs, who draw conclusions from insignificant signs which others give them, and all normal persons, who justly take the unintentional actions of their fellow-beings as a basis for the estimation of their characters. Only in our modern, philosophical, but by no means finished views of life of prescientific times and nations, it was justified and consistent. Experiments were introduced to confirm that spontaneous cases are not merely coincidences.

The main goal of psychical research was to obtain evidence for conception of man by showing that men survived death. Even if they are also what they commonly purport to be, messages from people who have died, they must still be classed as telepathic. The proper question is whether in addition to telepathy between living people there is telepathy originating from deceased people. The latter type will here be labeled “spirit telepathy,” and the former “human extra-sensory perception.” Whoever has had the opportunity of studying the concealed feelings of persons by means of psychoanalysis can also tell something new concerning the quality of unconscious motives, which express themselves in superstition. We must touch upon the question whether real roots of superstition should be altogether denied, whether there are really no omens, prophetic dreams, telepathic experiences, manifestations of supernatural forces and the like.

I am now far from willing to repudiate without anything further all these phenomena, concerning which we possess so many minute observations even men and women of intellectual prominence, and which should certainly form a basis for further investigation. For instance, an American entertainer has a dream that she was in a plane crash and even told them media details of the dream days before her plane crashed, and she made a video diary telling the World that she wanted to be known as a good person, someone who could do it all, a full entertainer, and days later her plane went down fulfilling this prophecy. I do not want to say her name, because in my heart and mind, I still believe she is alive walking this Earth. Some people believe that some races of people have spirits that transfer to other bodies, maybe more than one, depending on how evolved that they are, but it still raises a question as to what happens to the original host in that body, do they merge or get taken over? It is thought that other entities can enter a body of a person who is close to death and the energy keeps them alive. We may even hope that some of these observations will be explained by our present knowledge of the unconscious psychic process without necessitating radical changes in our present aspect.

Teleological order is to say that a group of elements is ordered in a certain way to say that they are interrelated so as to form a definite pattern, but the notion of a definite pattern is vague. Certain patterns are of special interest for one reason or another, and when one of these is exhibited, the complex would ordinarily be said to be ordered. Thus, when the elements form a pattern in whose perception we take intrinsic delight, we can speak of aesthetic order. When I was a young man, I lived alone in a strange city, I frequently heard my name suddenly pronounced by an unmistakable, dear voice, and I then made a note of the exact moment of the hallucination in order to inquire carefully of those at the house what had occurred at that time. There was nothing to it. One the other hand, I later worked among my patients calmly and without foreboding while my child almost bled to death. The belief in prophetic dreams numbers many adherents, because it can be supported by the fact that some things really so happen in the future as they were previously foretold by the wish of the dream.

Arguments for the existence of God have been based on kinds of order other than teleological. Exhortations to move from a consideration of the starry Heavens to belief in God constitute an appeal to aesthetic order. It sometimes claimed that we must postulate an intelligent creator to explain the regularity with which the solar system operates. What survives death need not be a mind nor personality, but can be merely some component of the latter that carries memory traces and may combine temporarily with a medium’s body to form a “mind-kin.” The relevant facts are so complex that it is impossible to give a balanced discussion of all the aspects. However, such communications are less frequently concerned with the sitter’s living friends than those who have died. These are cases where the medium impersonates the ostensible communicator, speaking with a voice and behaving with mannerisms recognizably similar to those of the ostensible communicator, whom the medium has never met.

The alternative explanation involves ascribing to the medium powers of ESP for which we have no independent evidence, in particular the power to select relevant bits of information from varied sources, people he has never met, and places he has never visited. Many mediums have given the same sort of information about living people as about dead ones, without claiming in either case that is came from spirits. Sometimes with the communicators there is a lifelike reproduction of the mannerisms of speech, tone of voice and accent, as if they are split-agents. This explanation involves attributing ESP to the spirits as well as living people. What survives death is merely a trace-bearing component of mind, and this leads to a sort of terrestrial science. Attempts to explain ESP away concentrate on either alleged fraud on the part of the investigators or on criticism of the statistical methods employed. However, I may observe that the significance of this wonderful coincide was not proven to be due to any subsequent event—that is, it could just be a remarkable coincidence, unless others factors were at play or it is actually justified though future occurrences. God Makes the change very evident in your life and thought. It is this complete and amazing change that is the very evidence that you are saved.
