This is an Important Case of the Conception of God as a Divine Craftsman

 

 

We have dug into the Earth, we have listened to psychics, we have done so of course to get more information about this beautiful experience called life. Although human cognition begins with the knowing of bodily things, human beings can form some intellectual notions and judgments concerning immaterial beings: souls, angels, and God. Seek willingly and listen attentively to the words of the saints; do not be displeased with the sayings of the ancients, for they were not made without purpose. As far as philosophical consideration goes, the Universe might be eternal. Eternity is a type of duration differing from time in two ways: the eternal has neither beginning nor termination, and the eternal has neither beginning nor termination, and the eternal has no succession of instants but exists entirely at once (tota simul). Humans are the highest of God’s creatures; there are other kinds of purely intellectual beings with activities, powers, and natures superior to beings with activities, powers, and natures superior to those of humans. Philosophical theology, metaphysics, treats divine matters as principles for the explanation of all things, and the theology taught in Scripture, which studies divine things for their own sake. Truth, not eloquence, is to be sought in reading the Holy Scriptures; and every part must be read in the spirit in which it is written. For in the Scriptures we ought to seek profit rather than polished diction. Likewise, we ought to read simple and devout books as willingly as learned ones. We ought not to be swayed by the authority of the writer, whether he or she be a great literary light or an insignificant person, but the love of simple truth. We ought not to ask who is speaking, but mark what is said. The study of literature, law, journalism, and physical science is comparable to the work of a judge in a court of law. One should listen to, and try to evaluate, all important testimony before attempting to formulate one’s own judgment on the problems of life. People pass away, but the truth of the Lord remains forever. God speaks to us in many ways without regard for persons. #RandolphHarris 2 of 16

In regards to justice, peace, or a perfectly good being, a person’s will should be naturally and necessarily attracted to such objects. This natural movement of the will is not free. There are volitional movements toward or away from intellectually known objects that are judged as partly desirable or as partly undesirable. Such movements of will are directed by intellectual judgments evaluating the objects. In this case volition is said to be deliberated (specified by intellectual considerations) and free. It is in the act of decision (arbitrium) that human beings are free. People have free choice or decision (liberum arbitrium). Human, by virtue of one’s intellectual powers, is free in some of their actions. A human being is an animated body in which the psychic principle (anima) is distinctive of the species and determines that the material is human. In other words, a human’s soul is one’s substantial form. Some of human’s activities are obviously very like those of brutes, but the intellectual and volitional functions transcend materiality by virtue of their universal and abstracted character. #RandolphHarris 3 of 16

The immateriality of the human soul, the fact that it can understand universal meanings and make free decisions is because the heart is more strong in the flesh than true to the spirit. The soul is a real part of human and, being both immaterial and real, it is spiritual. From certain other features of human’s higher activities, especially from the unity of conscious experience, the simplicity and integration of a human’s soul: it is not divisible into parts. This makes some believe that the soul is incapable of corruption (disintegration into parts) and thus is immortal. Since the soul incapable of being partitioned, new souls must be created by God in the biological process. Each rational soul is originated by divine creation from nothing. Human parents are not the total cause of their offspring; they share the work of procreation with God. This is why so much stress is placed on the dignity and sanctity of human reproduction, which is more than a biological function. The begetting and raising of children is the primary purpose of married life, and this is not simply in relation of sexual activity, but of a human participation in God’s creative functions. #RandolphHarris 4 of 16

 

Every being has some intelligible meaning (verum), and every being is in some way desirable (bonum). At the highest level, God is described as Pure Act in the existential order. All activities are directed toward some end or purpose, and an intrinsic perfectionism is in the development of all beings. Beings are trending toward God as Final Cause. This is metaphysical finality in the sense of order to an external end. Since the act of being is common to many existents, there must be one universal cause of all. All beings in our experience are imperfect, not self-moved, and not the source of their actual being, and the reasoning concludes to the existence of a mover completely immobile and most perfect. Gradations of goodness, truth, and nobility in the things of human’s experience to the existence of a being that is most true, most good, and most noble. The universal order points to an existence of an intelligent Orderer of all things, and this is what we call God. It is essential that you give people the opportunity to act on the truth of God. The responsibility must be left with their individual—you cannot act for another person. #RandolphHarris 5 of 16

A person must be led by their own choice to deliberately decide an act, but the evangelical message should always lead that individual to act. Now, all things that are moved must be moved by other things; furthermore, things of an inferior nature are moved by superior beings. The four basic elements are thought to be under dynamic influence of the stars, and lower celestial bodies are considered to be moved about by those at a greater distance from Earth. This process cannot go on to infinity. The only possible explanation of the series of physical motions observed in the Universe requires the acceptance of the existence of a different sort of mover—a being that is not moved by another, in other words, a first mover. This would have to be a real being, of course, and of a quite different nature from bodily things. This first mover existing above all else is what Christians call God. To suppose that the Universe is self-explanatory is like thinking that a bed could be constructed by putting the tools and material together, without any carpenter to use them. This is an important case of the conception of God as a divine craftsman. #RandolphHarris 6 of 16

This suggests briefly that an infinite series of moved movers is an impossibility; the length of the series has nothing to do with its explanatory function, if all its members be finite. Any such series requires a first mover (primary in the sense of causality, not necessarily of chronological priority). This first mover would be a Supreme Being. It is obvious that many of the attributes of God are already implied in the argument for divine existence. Regarding the nature of God, we really do not know much about the Supreme Being. Humans are naturally equipped to understand directly the natures of material things; further, humans are aware of their own psychic functions as they occur but that all human understanding of the nature of their own soul, of immaterial substances such as angels, and of infinite immaterial being (God) is achieved by dint of discursive and indirect reasoning. There is, of course, a wide gap between material and immaterial substances. Yet, both these types of finite beings fall within the same logical genus, as substances, and thus bodies and created spirits have some aspects in common. #RandolphHarris 7 of 16

On the other hand, God is an immaterial being of an entirely different nature from that of bodies or even created spirits. Between God and creatures there is no univocal community: that is to say, God does not fall within the same genus, either real or logical, as any other being. Hence, God’s nature transcends all species and genera. Human’s natural knowledge of God’s nature is therefore very imperfect, achieved by negating various imperfections found in finite beings; thus, God is not in time, not in place, not subject to change, and so on. The circumstances of a saint’s life are ordained of God. In the life of a saint there is no such thing as chance. God by His providence brings you into circumstances that you cannot understand at all, but the Spirit of God understands. God brings you to places, among people, and into certain conditions to accomplish a definite purpose. All your circumstances are in the hands of God. Furthermore, humans may reach some beneficial knowledge of God by way of analogy: thus, God is powerful but not in the finite manner of other beings; He is knowing, willing, and so on. #RandolphHarris 8 of 16

Divine providence is that attribute of God whereby He intelligently orders all things and events in the Universe. God both establishes the plan (ratio) in accord with which all creatures are kept in order and executes this plan through continued governance of the World. Literally, providence means foresight. Divine providence does not exclude chance events from the Universe. In one sense, a chance event occurs apart from the intention of the agent. However, what is intended by one agent may involve another agent who is unaware of this intention of the first. Hence, a plurality of real but imperfect agents sets the stage for chance: God knows this and permits it to occur. I must learn that the purpose of my life belongs to God, not me. God is using me from His great personal perspective, and all He asks of me is that I trust Him. When I stop telling God what I want, He can freely work His will in me without any hindrance. God can crush me, exalt me, or do anything else He chooses. He simply asks me to have absolute faith in Him and His goodness. #RandolphHarris 9 of 16

Place your trust in God. Do what lies in your power and God will assist your good will. Put no trust in your own learning nor in the cunning of any human, but rather in the grace of God Who helps the humble and humbles the proud. DO NOT open your heart to every person, but discuss your affairs with one who is wise and who fears God. Do not keep company with young people and strangers. Seek only the intimacy of God and His angels, and avoid the notice of humans. Evil (both physical and moral) is a privation of goodness, of perfection, in being or in action. This does not deny that fact that evil really occurs but asserts that it is like a wound in being; and like any defect, evil is important by virtue of what is lacking. As to why a perfectly good God will allow evil to occur, the possibility of evil is necessary so that many goods may be possible. If there were no death of other animals, there would not be life for the lion; if there were no persecution from tyrants, there would be no occasion for the heroic suffering of the martyrs. #RandolphHarris 10 of 16

The ultimate enemy of a healthy soul is sin, because the soul cries out for wholeness within the person and between the person and God, others, and creation. Divine foreknowledge is opposed to the exercise of human freedom. In effect, human freedom does not imply absolute indeterminism (action that is uncaused). What a person does freely is caused by oneself, as a knowing and willing agent. God makes humans capable of choosing well or ill, permits people to do so freely, and knows what a human will accomplish. What appears to be necessitated from one point of view may be quite contingent and free from another viewpoint. From God’s vantage point in eternity, human actions are not affairs of past or future, but are events within the all-inclusive present of a divine observer who witnesses these events but does not determine them. If the providential will of God means a hard and difficult time for you, go through it. By going through the trial, you learn to know God better. #RandolpHarris 11 of 16

Intelligent performance of actions is divided into ethics, economics (treating problems of domestic life), and politics. In all three areas, the thinking is teleological; finality, purposiveness and the means—end relation all are aspects. Rationally controlled activities must be directed to some goal; they are judged good or bad in terms of their attainment of that goal and in terms of the means by which they attain (or fail to attain) that end. Moral theology, viewing moral good and evil in terms of accord or discord with divine law, which is revealed in Scripture and developed and interpreted in Christian tradition. Think what faith in Jesus Christ claims and provides—He can present us faultless before the throne of God, inexpressibly pure, absolutely righteous, and profoundly justified. We must continually focus and firmly place our faith in Jesus Christ. Our faith must be in the One from whom our salvation springs. We can never experience Jesus Christ or selfishly bind Him in the confines of our own hearts. Our faith must be built strong, determined confidence in Him. #RandolphHarris 12 of 16

Ethics consists of a study of good and evil in human conduct, from the point of view of human’s achievement of ultimate happiness. Not all the actions in which human beings are involved are truly human, but only those accomplished under the control of human’s intellect and will. The primary characteristic of human conduct is not so much as voluntariness. Voluntary activity is a development of discovering divine design. Several factors are required for a voluntary action. There must be sufficient knowledge on the part of a moral agent that a given action is within one’s power; one cannot be entirely ignorant of the kind of action that one is performing or the means, circumstances, and end of one’s actions. Violence, under certain conditions, modifies the voluntariness of one’s actions—as do certain kinds of uncontrollable feelings. Furthermore, there are two opposites to what is voluntary. The involuntary is a contrary: it represents a diminution of voluntariness. #RandolphHarris 13 of 16

 

Thus, an action that is partly involuntary is also partly voluntary and is, to a greater or lesser extent, imputable to the agent. On the other hand, the not-voluntary is the contradiction of what is voluntary, and an agent who is not voluntary is not morally responsible for one’s action. I feel myself almost a spirit when I gaze upon the stars. It is believed that Satan and the Angels were created before the Earth and that Adam and Eve lived on the Earth for 130 years and then Satan became jealous of the fellowship that Adam and Eve enjoyed with God. Satan did not fall until over 100 years after the creation. The fall could not have been in the original creation because he was still the bearer of light in the Garden of Eden. The soul does not measure time by seconds, nor yet by heart-beats, but by modifications in its own quality and character. The watches of the World may stop; the planets may cease to measure flight of time; the body may retain its pristine vigor—but in an hour, a moment almost, the heart may grow old, the human may be transformed. #RandolphHarris 14 of 16

What you focus on, you magnify. If you stay focused on your problem or what you do not have and how it will never work out, all you are doing is making it bigger than it really is. When you magnify something, you do not change the size of the object; you only change your perception of it. Magnify the Lord with me. Let us not make problems bigger, but learn instead to make God bigger. I am not focusing on how big my problems are. I am focusing on how big my God is. Get a new perspective. Do not be intimidated. You are full of the Spirit of God—the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives inside of you. What challenges are you facing that God wants to use to your advantage? All our difficulties are only platforms for the manifestation of God’s grace, power, and love. If anyone would tell you the shortest, surest way to happiness, one must tell you to make it a rule to yourself to thank and praise God for everything that happens to you. For it is certain that whatever seeming calamity happens to you, if you thank and praise God for it, you turn it into a blessing. #RandolphHarris 15 of 16

You may have a reason to feel sorry for yourself, but you do not have a right. God promised to give you beauty for those ashes. God said he would pay you back double for the wrong, but you have to do your part. If we are born of God, we will see His guiding hands and give Him the credit. We can all see God in exceptional things, but it requires the growth of spiritual discipline to see God in every detail. Never believe that the so-called random events of life are anything less than God’s appointed order. Be ready to discover God’s divine designs anywhere and everywhere. God will not permit any troubles to come upon us, unless He has a specific plan by which great blessing can come out of the difficulty. God will restore me, give me new opportunities, new relationships, and new perspectives. If you cry about a nickel, you will die about a dime. All My Love is in Vain—True Lover of the Soul is Christ

m,We have eyes, but we cannot see. When I was lonesome, I felt so lonesome, and could not help but cry. All my love is in vain. Early this morning, when you knocked on my door, and said “Hello, Satan. I believe it is time to go.” Me and the Devil was walking side by side. She said you do not see why, that she dog me around. Now baby, you know you are not doing me right, do you not? It must be that old evil spirit so deep down in the ground. The object of any obligation, in the realm of human affairs, is always the human being as such. The Lord does not give us rules, but He makes His standards very clear. There exists an obligation towards every human being for the sole reason that he or she is a human being, without any other condition requiring to be filled, and even without any recognition of such obligation on the part of the individual concerned. If my relationship to God is that of love, I will do what He says without hesitation. The fact that a human being possesses an eternal destiny imposes only one obligation: respect. #RandolphHarris 1 of 10

Has that breaking of my independence come? Few can be supposed to act upon any occasions with all the reasons of action present to their minds. Will I surrender to Jesus Christ, placing no conditions whatsoever as to how the brokenness will come? I must be broken from my own understanding of myself. One of those secret spontaneous emotions of the soul to which the reason is often a stranger are the vital needs of the human being. When I reach that point, immediately that reality of the supernatural identification with Jesus Christ takes place. You may bury my body down the highway side. Baby, I do not care where you bury my body when I am dead and gone. The passion of Christianity comes from deliberately signing away my own rights and becoming a bondservant of Jesus Christ. Until I do that, I will not be a saint. We owe our respect to a collectivity, of whatever kind—country, family, or any other—not for itself, but because it is food for a certain number of human souls. #RandolphHarris 2 of 10

You better come on in my kitchen, it is going to be raining outdoors. As we have youth and health in hand, we hope to have time for repentance. No person can disobey reason without giving up his or her claim to be a rational creature. Our needs for sustenance of body and soul are not to be mistaken for wants. We must distinguish between the soul’s foods and poisons. The first of the soul’s needs, the one which touches most nearly its eternal destiny, is order; human beings need a texture of social relationships such that no one is compelled to violate imperative obligations in order to carry out other ones. We love the beauty of the World, because we sense behind it the presence of something akin to that wisdom we should like to possess to slake our thirst for good. A consciousness of the various obligations always proceeds from a desire for good which is unique, unchanging and identical with itself for every person. I have to keep moving. The days keep reminding me that there is a hellhound on my trail. #RandolphHarris 3 of 10

What does it profit a person if they gain the whole World, but lose their soul? The true Lover of the soul, Christ. If today was Christmas eve, and tomorrow was Christmas day, all I would need is my little sweet rider just to past the time away. Faith falls midway between opinion and scientific knowledge; it is more than opinion because it involves a firm assent to its object; and it is less than knowledge because it lacks vision. Both are intellectual acts and habits of assent: in the case of faith a person is not sufficiently moved by the object to accept it as true, so, by an act of will, one inclines oneself to believe. Knowledge implies assent motivated by a personal seeing of the object without any direct influence from will. Where objects of belief have to do with divine matters which exceed human being’s natural cognitive capacity, the disposition to believe such articles of religious faith is regarded as a special gift from God. Moral reform of the individual is important because it is the preparation of the interior or illuminative life. The dialogue between Christ and the soul gives a mystical experience awaiting those who truly love Christ. #RandolphHarris 4 of 10

What good does it do to speak learnedly about the Trinity if, lacking humility, you displease the Trinity? Indeed, it is not learning that makes a person holy and just, but a virtuous life makes one pleasing to God. I would rather feel contrition than know how to define it. For what would it profit us to know the whole Bible by heart and the principles of all the philosophers if we live without the grace and the love of God? Vanity of vanities and all is vanity, except to love God and serve him alone. Have you come to a crossroads of overwhelming circumstances where your theology is about to become a very personal belief? This happens only when a personal problem brings the awareness of our personal need. The greatest wisdom is to seek the kingdom of Heaven. That does not mean that you cannot have nice things, it simply means that your focus in life should be on God and your worth is not based on Worldly riches. Turn your heart from the love of things visible and bring yourself to things invisible. For they who follow their own evil passions and play games with the lives of others stain their consciences and lose the grace of God. #RandolphHarris 5 of 10

Many words do not satisfy the soul; but a good life eases the mind and a clean conscience inspires great trust in God. When I was younger, I used to think that our sins were tracked by God on a sort of Bingo card. It started off as white, and with numbers on it, and as we sinned a hole would be punched in my Bingo card. And every time I would sin, I would think to myself, “I do not want to turn in my Bingo card to God with all these stains on it,” so I would try not to sin, as best I could. If you see another sin openly or commit a serious crime, do not consider yourself better, for you do not know how long you can remain in good estate. All people are frail, but you must admit that none is frailer than yourself. Happy is one to whom truth manifests itself, not in signs and words that fade, but as it actually is. Our opinions, our senses often deceive us and we discern very little. What is much discussion of involved and obscure matters when our ignorance of them will not be held against us on Judgment Day? #RandolphHarris 6 of 10

I would rather feel compunction than be able to produce the most precise definition of it. Dear Father in Heaven, God who are the truth, make me one with You in love everlasting. I am often wearied by many things I hear and read, but in You is all that I long for. Let the learned be still, let all creatures be silent before You; You speak to me alone. The more recollected I am, and the simpler of heart I become, the easier it is to understand sublime things, for that is when one receives the light of knowledge from above. The pure, simple, and steadfast spirit is not distracted by many labors, for one does them all for the honor of God. And since one enjoys interior peace, one seeks no selfish end in anything. What, indeed, gives more trouble and affliction than uncontrolled desires of the heart? A good person arranges in one’s mind the things one has to do, not according to the whims of evil inclination, but according to the dictates of right reason. #RandolphHarris 7 of 10

Who is forced to struggle more than one who tries to master oneself? This ought to be our purpose, then: to conquer self, to become stronger each day, to advance in virtue. Virtue is moral excellence and righteousness; goodness and chastity. However, every perfection in this life has some imperfection mixed with it and no learning of ours is without some darkness. Still, a clean conscience and virtuous life ought always to be preferred. If people used as much care in uprooting vice and implanting virtues as they do in discussing problems, there would not be so much evil and scandal in the World, or such laxity in religious organizations. On the day of judgment, surely, we shall not be asked what we have read, but what we have done; not how well we have spoken, but how well we have lived. When God looks at my Bingo card, I do not want it to look like a hurricane ripped it to shreds. How many there are who will perish because of vain Worldly knowledge and too little care for serving God. They became vain in their own conceits because they chose to be great rather than humble. #RandolphHarris 8 of 10

Do not yield to every impulse and suggestion but consider things carefully and patiently in the light of God’s will. For often, sad to say, we are so weak that we believe and speak evil of others rather than good. Perfect people, however, do not readily believe every talebearer, because they know that human frailty is prone to evil and is likely to appear in speech. Not to act rashly or to cling obstinately to one’s opinion, not to believe everything people say or spread abroad the gossip one has heard, is great wisdom. Take counsel with a wise and conscientious person. Seek the advice of your betters in preference to following your own inclinations. Thus, philosophy entailed reasoning from prior knowledge, or present experience, to new knowledge (the way of discovery) and the rational verification of judgments by tracing them back to more simply know principles (the way of reduction). Where the basic principles are grasped by human’s natural understanding of one’s sensory experiences, the reasoning process are those of natural science and philosophy. #RandolphHarris 9 of 10

If one starts to reason from judgments accepted on religious faith, the one is thinking as a theologian. The purpose of speculation is simply to know; the end of practical reasoning is to know how to act. Philosophy is a natural type of knowledge open to all people who wish to understand the meaning of their ordinary experiences. Repentance, from a just sense of the crime committed, gives an humility which renders the grief less turbulent, and makes way for the rise of some comfortable consideration, even from suffering the punishment which naturally follows the indulgence of violent passions. When you have a good friend, that will stay right by your side, give him or her all your spare time, try to love and treat that person right. Watch your close friend, baby, then your enemies cannot do you no harm. You do not want to wake up and find your biscuit roller gone, then you will have to roll up your own arms. Well, the blues, is an aching old heart disease. Do it now, you gone do it? Like consumption, killing me by degrees. On this planet, there are a lot of lost souls, who need to be taught the love of God. #RandolphHarris 10 of 10

Somedays we may be tired and do not feel like doing anything. However, when you have the courage to ask God for miracles, you will see the greatness of God’s power. The stages of mysticism are like watering a garden by various means, building yourselves up on your most holy faith. Once the weeds have been uprooted, irrigation is needed. Those who bring water from a well are compared to beginners in prayer and meditation. It is a laborious activity, involving the taming of the senses so that they are no longer distracted. The second stage of meditation is reached with the prayer of quiet. This is compared to irrigating the garden by the water wheel. The third mode of watering is by a running brook: this corresponds to a state of contemplation in which effort is no longer needed, as if the work were done by the Lord. It is a celestial frenzy, in which the faculties of sense perception no longer function. The soul no longer wishes to live in the World, but solely in union with God. The intellect is worth nothing, for ordinary modes of understanding are considered irrelevant or nonsensical. Reconciliation is the tenderest part of love and friendship: the soul here discovers a kind of elasticity, and, being forced back, returns with an additional power. #RandolphHarris 1 of 6

Ask God to do things unthinkable, to help you reach your highest potential. In the fourth stage, which is compared to a shower falling on the garden, the soul is totally passive and receptive, all faculties somehow united with God. The soul cannot properly understand what is occurring, but afterwards it is certain that there has been a union with God. The Spirit of God witnesses to the redemption of our Lord and to nothing else. It is like entering a castle or palace in which there are many rooms. These are arranged concentrically in six rings of rooms, or mansions, round an inner chamber where kings live. To enter this castle, prayer is needed. Ordinary Christians can enter the first three mansions through humility, meditation, and exemplary conduct; and the attainment of the third mansion represents the life achievement of many worthy Christians. However, more remains in the spiritual life than such a virtuous existence. The forth mansion corresponds to the second water simile. In the fifth, the soul seems to be asleep and unconscious both of the external World and of itself (although such language is analogical; the contemplative is not literally asleep). The soul is illuminated in this stage by God. #RandolphHarris 2 of 6

The sixth mansion is like a couple’s first sight of one another at a betrothal. Finally, the soul enters the holy of holies. It seems as if this place is dark, because of the overpowering light of the divine light. Here the soul has a direct vision of God, like the beatific vision to be enjoyed hereafter in Heaven. God’s purpose for humankind stands; His purpose to give us eternal life will succeed! God continually creates influencing matter as a magnet influences iron. The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. We will be set free from bondage. God insists on freedom from necessity. God created by His free will and therefore is not limited by matter. The soul is actually corporeal and originates from a soul-producing seed at the moment of its conception. We will obtain the liberty of God. Our hope is the redemption of our bodies. Whatever suffering or pain or frustration or disappointment a child of God endures now in this present age, it will seem as nothing when compared with the glory that a child of Cod will experience in the age to come. #RandolphHarris 3 of 6

Redemption is an element of salvation that broadly means the deliverance from sin. Redemption is important in salvation because it is part of a great system against which human power is helpless. Redemption is God’s power to deliver us from sin and freedom from captivity. The concept also applies to redemption of real property such as fields and houses, stock animals, produce, and it also means the liberation of an estate in real property from a mortgage. Inasmuch, there is natural change everywhere. Unity is God and immutable and eternal. The divine unity in an ineffable way absorbs the forms of all beings in itself, but only images of these forms are joined to matter. The proper perspective of a child of God must not simply be as near to the highest level he or she can get, but it must be the highest. We can be freed from sin and have God’s very righteousness imparted as a gift to us. Faith always works in a personal way because the purpose of God is to see that perfect faith is made real in His children. Nothing gives such life and soul to youthful gaiety as the consciousness that is successful received. Faith is a tremendously active principle that always puts Jesus Christ first. Our faith is limitless. Faith is the entire person in the right relationship with God through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Faith by its very nature must be tested and tried. And the real trial of faith is not that we find it difficult to trust God, but that God’s character must be proven as trustworthy in our own minds. Faith being worked out into reality must experience times of unbroken isolation. Never confuse the trial of faith with the ordinary discipline of life, because a great deal of what we call the trial of faith is the inevitable result of being alive. Thinking is an essentially human activity occurring in two basic forms. We may think in order to attain knowledge of what it, must, or may be the case; we also may think with a view to making up our mind about what we will or will not do. We are called into intimacy with the gospel, and things happen that appear to have nothing to do with us. However, God is getting us into fellowship with Himself. Let God have His way. Prayer moves the hand that moves the World.  If you refuse to obey God, you will be of no value to God in His redemptive work in the World, but will be a hindrance and a stumbling block. Thinking is either a dialogue in the soul involving mental words that refer to Forms (such as Redness, Triangularity, Flying) and, possibly, to individuals (such as Socrates) or a spiritual activity of inspecting or recollecting forms and discerning their natures and interrelations. Thinking is an act of the intellect in which a thing’s essence, or intelligible form, actually qualified the intellect; to think about humanity is for one’s intellect to the informed by—literally, to share—the essence humanity. Thinking is an activity of bringing concepts or ideas before the mind, these being either innate and applicable to the World in virtue of God’s grace or else formed by abstraction from sense experiences and this actually sharing the abstract features of those experiences. Justification by Faith–Do Not Settle for Good Enough

 

Presumably the World is comparable with a single throw of the dice. And common nonsense is not foolish in suspecting the dice have been loaded. Reason was the first revelation; and so far it tests all other, it has precedence over them. Deliver yourself by permit of your cheque on the Bank of Reason, and your account is increased instead of lessened. The whole of nature is animated and endowed with sensation in varying degrees. In addition to the vital principle there is present in humans and animals spirit, a very subtle material substance that emanates from the warm element and is generated with the body. Spirit is properly located in the brain and has the function of anticipating and receiving sense impressions. It has both an appetitive power and an intellective power of its own that correspond to the sensitive appetite and the cogitative power (vis cogitative). Besides body and spirit, humans have mens, or anima superaddita, which is created by God and informs both body and spirit. Apart from the natural drive or instinct of self-preservation, which all beings—including inorganic matter–humans can strive after the union with God and contemplate with the divine. This inner tendency of the mens, along with the need for proper sanctions in a future life in order to correct injustices, is considered to prove the immortality of the soul, which is known by revelation but can also be demonstrated by reason. Self-preservation is human’s supreme good. Just as in humans there is a twofold intellect, one pertaining to the spirit and the other to the soul, so also there is in people a twofold appetite power. The sensitive appetite tends toward temporal goods and its own preservation in this life; rational appetite or will tends toward immortal goods and its own preservation in a future goods and its own preservation in a future, eternal life. When I turn to God and by belief accept what God reveals, the miraculous atonement by the Cross of Christ instantly places me into a right relationship with God. Virtues and powers or faculties that enable humans to achieve self-preservation; they are not merely habits. There are virtues of the spirit and virtues of the soul. Among the virtues, sublimity and wisdom occupy a high place. Sublimity is not merely a particular virtue but virtue as a whole. It stands at the summit of all virtues and somehow includes all of the, for it directs all human operations toward their supreme good. Wisdom helps humans to attain to the knowledge of God as creator of the Universe and can reach out to the knowledge of the divine substance itself. An immovable mover sets the Heavens in motion. The existence of God is better proved from the wonderful order of the Universe, which can only be the work of a divine mind. The nature or the World is a concrete reality. The one great challenge to us is—do I know my risen Lord? Do I know the power of His Indwelling Spirit? Why has a Universe of matter produced life and intelligence? If there are millions of Universes, we might expect this to happen in a few of them. Nature produces in great abundance beauty which seems to exist only for the enjoyment of humans. Nature’s beauty is of a piece with the World’s intelligibility and with its being a theatre for moral life; and thus far the case for theism is strengthened by aesthetic considerations. Nature has produced humans, with God’s ethical sense. If we judge the evolutionary process not by its roots in the primeval slime but by its fruits in human moral and spiritual experience, we note that the whole process of Nature is capable of being regarded as instrumental to the development of intelligent and moral creatures. Be careful that you vigorously maintain God’s perspective, and remember that is must be done every day. Do not think on a finite level. No outside power can touch the proper perspective. The possibility of the moral evil of sin was involved in the creation of free and responsible personal beings and is justified by the fact that only free person can be the bearers of moral and spiritual values. The natural evil of pain in its many forms is a necessary concomitant of human existence in a World which has its own stable structure and laws of operation; and it is justified by the fact that only in such an environment can the higher values of the human personality develop. People are supposed to be intellectually respectable. The only way is by allowing nothing of the old life to remain and by having only simple, perfect trust in God—such a trust that we no longer want God’s blessing but only want God himself. The Spirit of God Himself bears witness with our spirit. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he or she is a new creation; old things have passed away. And as a result of the supernatural miracle of God’s grace, I have learned that God is not as interested in changing my circumstances as He is in changing me. The way we stay strong is through prayer, but remember that it is prayer based on the agony of Christ in redemption of the whole human race, not on my own agony. Jesus Christ offered His sufferings and death to God as a fitting sacrifice in satisfaction for the sins of humans, and regained for them the right to be children of God and heirs Heaven. We must go to God as His child, because only a Child of God gets one’s prayers answered. Sanctification means the state of proper functioning. To sanctify someone or something is to set that person or thing apart for the use intended by its designer. In the theological sense, things are sanctified when they are used for the purpose God intends. Sanctification is not a question of whether God is willing to sanctify me—is it my will? Am I willing to let God do in me everything that has been made possible through the atonement of the Cross of Christ? Atonement is to suffer the penalty for sins, thereby removing the effects of sin from the repentant sinner and allowing him or her to be reconciled to God. Jesus Christ was the only one capable of carrying out the atonement for all humankind. Because of His atonement, all people will be resurrected, and those who obey His gospel will receive the gift of eternal life with God. Impulsiveness is a trait of the natural life, and our Lord always ignores it, because it hinders the development of the life of a disciple. Impulsiveness needs to be trained into intuition through discipline. Discipleship is built entirely on the supernatural grace of God. It is ingrained in us that we have to do exceptional things for God—but we do not. It is not biologically possible to teach people how to be happy and serene. The spirit of God witnesses to the redemption of our Lord and to nothing else. The Spirit witnesses only to His own nature and to the work of redemption, never to our reason. If we are trying to make God witness to our reason, it is no wonder that we are in darkness and uncertainty. The Key of the Greater Work

 

You understood my soul, I thought, and now others are coming only to sack my heart of all its riches. Mystical experiences are a nourishment to the soul in supporting the individual in a life of active love and there are behavioral criteria for estimating their worth. Each individual experiences oneself from within as a conscious being. Consciousness is thus directly identifiable as spiritual energy. In this active life, we may possess God through a fusion of the divine and human wills. The love of God and the love of human beings go together and the former finds its consummation in the inner union of the soul with the Creator. In principle, all humans should be capable of this return of the soul to its Source. Two qualifications, however, must be made. First, the way of return involves great heroism and endurance. The creaturely side of a human must be purified. Every virtue may be learned and practiced at home; and it is only because we do not choose to have either virtue or religion among us, that so many adventurers are yearly sent out to smuggle foreign graces. Virtue is a sign of burning love of God, and eventually the friend of God may acquire a real desire for, rather than the aversion to, virtue.  #RandolphHarris 1 of 12

 Moral experience does deserve to be taken seriously, for facts and values are given together and never occur in separation in our concrete experience of the World. If you have been struggling to deal with a particularly frustrating situation for a long time, do not stop praying about it. Remember that there is nothing that God cannot do. Trust that God will answer you when the time is right. Understand that a delay in hearing from God simply means that His perfect time has not come yet and there is a good reason why. Be patient and trust that God is at work being the scenes. The fall of man has tainted the human being that the divine light, which illuminates the contemplative and brings about the return to God, is something that humans cannot achieve on their own. It is a gift of divine grace. Thus, the culmination of the mystic’s quest is not a personal achievement of the mystic, but an enjoyment granted from beyond. #RandolphHarris 2 of 12

  The operation of divine grace requires a right attitude on the part of humans. God is like a fisherman who lets down a baited hook into the ocean. Those fish who are not disposed toward the bait will not be hooked. “The kingdom of Heaven is like a net that was let down into the ocean and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fisherman pulled it up on the shore. Then he sat down and collected the good in baskets, but threw the bad away” (Matthew 13.47-48). Seed sown in faith day by day is the nightly harvest of the soul, and with the soul we work. With the soul we see. Three aspects of the soul can be distinguished. At the deepest level is the Ground of the soul—otherwise referred to as the Spark, the Apex, and God in the soul and is not an intrinsic, natural property of the individual. At another level, the soul possesses intellect, sense faculties, and will. Third, there is the heart. The attitude of the individual toward the divine Being is determined by weather the heart is turned toward the Ground or away from it. If the former, God will descend, draw the spirit up Himself, and unite it with Him. #RandolphHarris 3 of 12

Human choice is there for essentially a choice of disposition.  Once this choice has been made, God through His grace will conform the human will to His own. Thus, the end of the contemplative life is a state in which the mystic is, so to speak, taken over by God, so that all one’s actions express God’s purpose rather than one’s own. So, we are given free will and the choice to unite with God or not. If the values of moral life were divorced from the facts of the World, then no argument from moral experience to the nature of reality could succeed. The nature of the good is at which the moral life aims. Is it a temporal good or is it an eternal good? Even to be able to ask this question and to be aware of the temporal dimension of our existence is to have begun to transcend the form of temporality. Furthermore, reflection shows that no merely temporal goods can satisfy the demands of human nature. Such goods are defective in various ways; for instance, they can be attained only successively and cannot be enjoyed simultaneously. #RandolphHarris 4 of 12

One might answer, of course, that this merely shows that human aspirations are doomed to frustration, but that claim is not true. We can enjoy temporal human joys, but the fact of moral striving is to reach the eternal good. The second consideration concerns the question how such an eternal good is to be attained. Can human beings attain to an eternal good? Sin and guilt are conditions that inhibit the moral life and prevent people from reaching their goal. However, again, do not accept this frustration as final. With artifacts, unlike natural examples of design, we have some insight into what is responsible for the adjustment of means to end. We can understand it because we can see how this adjustment springs from the creative activity of the maker, guided by his deliberate intention to make the object capable of performing this function. Hence, in natural cases of adaption where the source of adaptation where the source of the adaptiveness is not obvious, we have no recourse but to employ the only way we know of rendering such phenomena intelligible—supposing them to stem from conscious planning. Since we do not observe any planner at work, we must postulate an invisible planner behind the scenes. #RandolphHarris 5 of 12

The evolution advocated is all embracing and characterizes much more than living things. Long before living things appeared on the Earth, the basic stuff of the cosmos was undergoing irreversible changes in the greater complexity of organization. Hence, nonliving nature is profoundly historical. It is not only a system of stable elements in a closed equilibrium. On the contrary, it conforms at all stages to a law of complexification, comparable in importance to the law of gravity and illustrated by the vast array of organic forms which have appeared in evolutionary history. The more recent of these forms is the human being. The absence of the soul is far more terrible in a living person than in a dead one. Human beings have a conscious inner face that everywhere duplicated the material external material face. Since this is so, the physical evolution of the cosmic stuff will at the same time be an evolution of consciousness. The more highly integrated a material system, the more developed its physical interior will be. Thus, in the human brain an intense concentration, or involution of cells has led to the emergence of self-conscious thought, the most advanced stage reached by evolution thus far. #RandolphHarris 6 of 12

However, greater developments are in store from evolutionary convergence of disparate cultures and forms of consciousness. Humans are now a single, interbreeding species expanding on the finite, spherical surface of the planet and still showing signs of biological immaturity. Furthermore, the human capacity for self-conscious thought and the production of cultures has added a new layer to the Earth’s surface, the noosphere, distinct from, yet superimposed on, the biosphere. The noosphere literally means the mind-sphere or Earth’s mental sheathe. It is a critical premise arising from the inevitable next stage of terrestrial evolution, which will subsume and transform the biosphere. The emergence of the noosphere at a peak mystical moment referred to as the Omega Point. This moment will be the result of the interaction of increasing activity of the human networks creating a highly charged thinking layer above and discontinuous with the biosphere. Thus, a network of links more and more literally present, in the immensity of their organism, as the image of a nervous system. #RandolphHarris 7 of 12

This geotechnology will extend a closely interdependent network of its enterprises over the whole Earth. The evolutionary convergence which it makes possible will be manifested externally in the unification of all human cultures into a single World culture. Paralleling this, a movement toward psychical concentration will occur, so that the noosphere will become involuted in a Hyperpersonal Consciousness at a point which we might call Omega. Here evolution will reach the terminal phase of convergent integration. Omega is obscure, right now, because aspects of this evolutionism is essentially the expression of a mystical vision, combined with technology. God did promises to end all suffering and death on Earth and even promised to raise the dead so that they could live again and experience eternal life, and perhaps technology is a way to do this. Many people fear the future because they believe Earth will get increasingly bad. Much of this evil is thought to be a product of greed and a lack of resources. However, it is also predicted that money will lose its value and become worthless. #RandolphHarris 8 of 12

Nonetheless, with technology like Omega, it is possible to provide for everyone on the planet and make conditions in the noosphere optimal for the growth of food and production of other resources. And it is possible, if death can be cured, so can all other illnesses. Additionally, humans may go on to colonize other planets in our solar system with geotechnology, as they would be able to control the climate and make it possible for human life to thrive. So, if all our needs are met, then war and conflict should no longer be an issue. Omega is not identical with God, but rather, is God insofar as he determines the direction and goal of cosmic history. Hence, the evolutionary process is orthogenetic, although neither vitalistic nor wholly devoid of chance events. The integration of all personal consciousnesses at Omega will be achieved through love, which forms le Milieu divin, the spirit of Christ at work in nature. #RandolphHarris 9 of 12

Even if we admit the World exhibits design, why are we not as justified in supposing the World was generated from the sexual union of two parent Worlds as in supposing that it was created by a mind in accordance with a plan? Because creation generation gives a more satisfactory answer at the particular level of evolution. The mind of the designer also requires explanation. However, the mind of the designer is so well fitted for the architecture of the human soul, body, mind, and the World and Universe and it had to be explained in a way that made sense. So, with the growth of technology, the process of evolution will change. People are essentially good and we want to stop crime on Earth and make life peaceful. If God, or the Omega is able to have a mystic union with technology, the concepts in the Bible are possible. The World is a unified system of adaptions. We can give an intelligible explanation of this fact only by supposing the World was created by an intelligent being according to some plane. Therefore, it is reasonable to consider the World was created by an intelligent being. #RandolphHarris 10 of 12

The World is like a machine. Machines are made by human beings, in accordance with plans. Like effects have like causes. Therefore, the World probably owes its existence to something like a human being, who operates in accordance with a plan. If one is to think of the whole Universe as a system of connected adaptions, one will consider kinds of adaptions other than that exemplified by the fitness of organisms to the conditions of life. The World and the human mind are so related that we can learn more and more without limit. The adaption of living organisms to their environments is part of evolution. The World is conducive to the emergence and maintenance of life only because temperatures do not exceed certain limits, certain kinds of chemical processes go on. Nature is not only suited to penetration by the intellect; it is also constituted so as to awaken valuable aesthetic responses in humans. The ways in which the World ministers to the moral life of humans forces us to learn something about the uniformities in natural operations, develop our intelligence, as a prerequisite to moral development. #RandolphHarris 11 of 12

And moral virtues are acquired in the course of having to cope with the hardships of one’s natural environment. The over-all progressiveness of the evolutionary process, therefore, could be possibly expanded by technology. Now, at long last, the process of cultural evolution has generated another envelope, superimposed on the biosphere, a sheet of humanized and social matter. A planetary sense organ opening it to galactic consciousness. The idea is that I can leave my body for short periods, and during those periods I can search for you. The soul has two parts. One part, the higher soul and it can leave the body. And the primitive or residual soul stays in the body, but is incomplete without a higher soul. God did promise to give new opportunities and new relationships and new perspectives. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who are pure of heart and mind, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22.13-14). Savage Indignation and the Fight for Noble Liberty

When savage indignation can no longer torture the heart, proceed, traveler, and if you can, imitate the strenuous avenger of noble liberty. Belief in Jesus Christ is a miracle produced only by the effectiveness of redemption, not by impressive speech, nor by wooing and persuading, but only by the sheer unaided power of God. Redemption is a biblical word that means a purchase or a ransom. Historically, redemption was used in reference to the purchase of an enslaved human’s freedom. An enslaved person was redeemed when the price was paid for his or her freedom. In modern times, most everyone is a slave to sin; only through the price Jesus Christ paid on the cross is a sinful person redeemed from sin and death. Jesus Christ is the mediator of a new covenant since a death has occurred that redeems humans from the transgressions committed under the first covenant. Redemption provides several benefits for the believer: eternal life, forgiveness of sin, peace with God, the Holy Spirit to live within, and adoption into God’s family. #RandolphHarris 1 of 5

Love has a thousand ways of making Himself understood. Jesus gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession. When we are redeemed we have a new identity in Christ. No longer is the Christian a captive to sin and death. Instead, he or she has become a citizen of God’s Kingdom. Christian mysteries should not be explicated by divines but should remain incomprehensible, for otherwise they would not be mysteries. Though God-given, human’s reason is not infallible, because of the interests, passions, and vices of the individual. Mysteries (for instance, the Trinity) are to be accepted on faith (which is above reason) and asserted on the authority of the Scriptures. The grand points of Christianity ought to be taken as infallible revelations. Christianity is justifiable on grounds of expediency: it may help to preserve pride, wealth, and power and, possibly, to prevent a drop in the stock market as much as one per cent. Be too self-respecting to lavish the love of the whole heart, soul, and strength, where such a gift is not wanted and would be despised. Cruelty, inhumanity, inordinate love of power, pride, corrupt politics, and political oppression will result in making me a traitor to Jesus Christ, and I prevent the creative power of His redemption from doing its work. Having the reality of God’s presence is not dependent on our being in a particular circumstance or place, but is only dependent on our determination to keep the Lord before us continually. Our problems arise when we refuse to place our trust in the reality of His presence. If our everyday decisions are not according to God’s will, He will press through them, bringing restraint to our spirit. Then we must be quiet and wait for the direction of His presence to guide us toward inculcating integrity and virtue in its major aspects of magnanimity and heroism—yet with no illusion that human nature is capable of reaching virtue in an eminent degree.  God is about to release everything that belongs to you and it will happen sooner than you think. There is nothing special about a person who uses and abuses you for financial gains. God will provide new opportunities and enhance gifts and talents you did not even realize you had. God loves to do exceedingly, abundantly, above and beyond your wildest dreams. Father in Heaven, I know You are the God of acceleration. You can accelerate blessings and miracles in my life. Thank You for taking me further faster. I know that You will thrust me years ahead. I want to thank You that I will accomplish my dreams sooner than I think. Pure essences, for example, the natures of angels—may be multiplied numerically in existence, although how this is done is unknown. Whatever name may have been given to the divine Reality it has found its highest place in the history of our religion owing to its human character, giving meaning to the idea of sin and sanctity, and offering an eternal background to all the ideals of perfection which have their harmony with human’s own nature. People’s behaviors are more easily influenced by the actions of role models, fictional and nonfictional, who are of their own gender. Because media portrayals of gender roles can be as influential on a person’s own gender identity formation as people in their lives, the availability of adequate roles models of both sexes is essential.  Know your own soul. Or, in other words, realize the one great principle of unity that there is in every human. That infinity where knowledge ceases to be knowledge, subject and object become one—a state of existence that cannot be defined attunes humans to the grand harmony of the Universal, leaving no room for untrained desires of a rampant individualism to pursue their destructive career unchecked, but leading them on to their ultimate modulation in the Supreme. “I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, who summons you by name” (Isaiah 45.3). Where the heart is really attached, one can be little pleased with the attention of anybody else. The Monster at the End of this Book—a Contract will Take More than a Kiss

 

Did you sell your soul to a demon for a wish? You may have unconsciously done this. The thundering waves are calling me home, home to you. The pounding sea is calling me home, home to you. It must have been the Summer Solstice when I first gave my heart to You. The first day of a brand-new season, in a fevered passion for Your simple truth. It was the longest I had ever felt for anything and it gave my soul a song to sing. We left the music behind as the dance carried on, as we stole away to the seashore, we smelt the brine, felt the wind in our hair, and your sadness you paused. It must have been my adolescence that pulled me from my childlike faith, but what I thought to be maturity was just neglect that I tried to vindicate, and I went drifting on the wind like the autumn leaves. Suddenly I knew that you would have to go, your World was not mine, your eyes told me so. Yet, it was there I felt the crossroad’s demon of time, and I wondered why? When I fell, I landed on my knees, as we cast our gaze on the tumbling sea, a vision  of thundering hooves came over me, and beating wings in clouds above.  I have wandered off way too far for way too long and standing broken in this wilderness of shame I have found my only strength is in your name, God. Oh, Heavenly Father please can You undo what I have done and get me back to square one. I never saw that blizzard coming. Just woke up and ice was on the ground and there were times this beating heart of pride was so stubborn it refused to make a sound, but now I am feeling so out of my element, frozen in the Winter of my discontent. On a dark New Year’s night, on the West Coast of California, I heard your voice singing. Your eyes danced the song and your hands played the tune, there was a vison before me. As you turned to go, I heard you call my name. You were like a bird in a cage spreading it wings to fly. “The old ways are lost,” you sang as you flew and I wondered why? Crossroad’s demons are entities that make formal agreements or bargains with humans, granting any wish in exchange for claiming their life and soul at a fixed point in the future. Deals made with humans are sealed with a kiss, and contracts are written invisibly on the skin of the person. They tend to have red eyes. #RandolphHarris 2 of 13

 

When the person dies either before his or her time, or is killed by a hellhound at the end of the appointed period, his or her soul is sent to Hell. Terms of the demonic contracts vary, but the person selling his or her soul is usually given ten years to live after the deal is made. A crossroad’s demon is typically summoned by burying a container of ritual items, including a photograph of the summoned, graveyard dirt, a black cat bone, and yarrow at the center of the crossroads. The contract is not usually held by the demon who negotiates the deal. According to Bella, a Crossroad’s demon, Lilith, Adam’s first wife claims to hold all deals. Adam was mistaken about her. Like many other men, he thought the signs of love for another were signs of love towards himself. For over 5,000 years, Lilith has wandered the Earth. Her dark origins lie in Babylonian demonology, where amulets and incantations were used to counter the sinister powers of this winged spirit. Lilith next migrated to the World of the ancient Hittites, Egyptians, Israelites and Greeks. She makes a solitary appearance in the Bible, as a wilderness demon shunned by the prophet Isaiah. #RandolphHarris 3 of 13

 It is suggested that killing the demon who holds a soul will cancel the contract. However, the death of the demon who controls the soul only transfers the contract. In the Renaissance, Michelangelo portrayed Lilith as a half-woman, half-woman, half-serpent, coiled around the Tree of Knowledge. Later, her beauty would captivate the English poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti. “Her enchanted hair,” he wrote, “was the first gold.” Modern feminists celebrate her bold struggle for independence from Adam. Her name appears as the title of a Jewish women’s magazine and a national literacy program. An annual music festival that donates its profits to battered women’s shelters and breast cancer research institutes is called the Lilith Fair. According to legend, Lilith dwells in desert lands and open country spaces and is especially dangers to pregnant women and infants. Her breast are filled with poison, not milk. And she is said to have the power of fire, much like Queen Akasha from the film Queen of the Damned. She is known for being beautiful, having wings (or the ability to fly), taloned feet and had long hair, tied up to look like a crown. #RandolphHarris 4 of 13

Dating from the seventh or eighth century B.C.E. is a limestone wall plaque, discovered in Arslan Tash, Syria, in 1933, which contains a horrific mention of Lilith. It reads, “O you who fly in the darkened rooms, be off with you this instant, this instant, Lilith. Thief, breaker of bones.” Robert Johnson (8 May 1911 – 16 August 1938) makes a deal in 1930 with a crossroad’s demon. He was a blues musician. He left home in 1930 and traveled the country, playing and singing at parties, juke joints, barrelhouses, and other venues. Robert Johnson went on to have a successful career, recording 29 blues songs, but a year later he was poisoned by a jealous husband. Six of his blues songs mention the devil or some form of the supernatural. It is a popular urban legend that Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil in exchange for his talent. “Standin’ at the crossroad, baby, risin’, Sun goin’ down, I believe to my soul, now, poor Bob is sinkin’ down. You can run, you can run, tell my friend Willie Brown.” Over time, people throughout the Near East became increasingly familiar with the myth of Lilith. Throughout the Book of Isaiah, the prophet encourages God’s people to avoid entanglements with foreigners who worship alien deities. Lilith was known for her beauty, long hair, ability to fly and for being powerful. During the 130 year period between the death of Abel and their birth of Seth, a Talmudic reference claims that Lilith was a succubus, a demon who had the sex with men while they were sleeping (in a state of trance). Allegedly, a distraught Adam separates himself from Eve, and during this time he becomes the father of ghosts and male demons and female demons. And those who try to construct the Tower of Babel are tuned into apes, spirits, devils, and night-demons. Lilith’s image has been unearthed on numerous ceramic bowls known as incantation bowls for the Aramaic spells. And supposedly, Lilith left the Garden of Eden because she and Adam had a dispute. Though made of Earth, she is not Earthbound. The Almighty tells Adam that if Lilith fails to return, 100 of her children must die each day. #RandolphHarris 6 of 13

Mystery and disappointment are not absolutely indispensable to the growth of love, but they are, very often, its powerful auxiliaries. At this stage of the affair, the poor girl respectfully intimated that she was secretly engaged to that popular character whom the novelists and versifiers called Another, and that such a marriage would make Dust of her heart and Dust of her life. The vainest woman is never thoroughly conscious of her own beauty till she is loved by the man who sets her own passion vibrating in return. Apparently, Lilith is not only a child-murdering witch, but also an amazingly fertile mother. In this way, she helps maintain the World’s balance between Good and Evil. Her dramatic departure reestablished for a new generation Lilith’s supernatural character in the Queen of the Damned. Love is all a woman has to give, but it is the only thing which God permits us to carry beyond the grave between the Infinite and the finite World, and by its motion it creates aggregate of elements that build up the Cartesian vortexes, which are interpreted as the fundamentals of nature. #RandolphHarris 7 of 13

The original motion is the Infinite, however, is not a mechanical motion but a kind of Leibnizian conatus, a motive force in nature that corresponds to will in human minds. In the first point, there is a corresponding tendency, which transmits itself to the subsequent aggregates in the great chain of being. This cosmology was a theory that could combine these scientific hypotheses with Christianity in the seventeenth century. Many other people posthumously published treatises on the animal kingdom. “Humans are animals, brute creatures,” explains Queen Akasha in the Queen of the Damned.  Emanuel Swedenborg distinguished several degrees of purity in the blood, with the highest degree corresponding to the Cartesian spirituous fluid. It is not wind or air, but has a liquid consistency as spirit wine. It is generated from blood in the brain and diffused by the nerves. This fluid functions both as a concrete communication line between soul and body and as abstract principle, a formative force of the body (vis formatrix). As I hinted at in previous essays, Emanuel Swedenborg’s system is called the doctrine of series and degrees of lifeforce and it is a teleological system. The degrees are distinct links in the Universal chain and form connected series of several kinds. Three of these series—the mineral kingdom, the plant kingdom, and the animal kingdom—belong to Earth. In these great series, there are also subordinate series, down to the lowest elements. Each series has its first substance, which is dependent on the first series of nature. Ryan PhillippeThis hierarchy or organisms is a decisive influence in the structuring of this gigantic system, in which Emanuel Swedenborg has arranged all series and degrees in a fixed order that determines all their interrelations. There exists nothing in nature that does not belong to such a series. In the Oeconomia the human series consists of four degrees, the soul (anima), the reason (mens rationalis), the vegetative soul (animus), and the corresponding sense organs of the body, but in the theosophic writings after 1745, the series is reduced to three degrees with the animus subordinated to the mens rationalis. The china of the series extends up to God, who Himself becomes the highest series. It is believed that all a priori of knowledge is in the anima, but after the Fall of man, the soul (anima) was separated from the body; this synthetic source of knowledge—was thereby closed for ordinary humans. This is an attempt to illustrate how linguistic terms may be used with three different meanings—the natural, the spiritual, and the divine. The doctrine of correspondence is an attempt to describe and explain the relationships between the spiritual World and our material World and our material Universe by means of linguistic analogies. There is no motion without the conatus (an innate inclination of a things to continue to exist and enhance itself. This thing maybe the mind, matter or a combination of both). However, there is no conatus without motion. For is all conatus were to break out into open motion the World would perish, since there would be no equilibrium. There is no action without will, but there is no will without action. If all will were to break out into open action humans would perish, since there would be no rational balance or moderating reason. There is no divine operation without providence, but there is indeed a providence not operative or effective. If all providence were operative and effective, human society would not be able to subsist such as it now is, since there would be no true exercise of human liberty. #RandolphHarris 11 of 13

The notions of conatus, will, and providence correspond; so do World, humans, and human society. By such means, the principles of philosophy of nature are given a wider field of application, so that they reveal Heavenly and divine secrets. Some of this information was derived from Christian Wolff’s Psychologia Empirica (1732) where the famous German rationalist discusses the information interpreted from Egyptian and their mystic signification, according to which God functions in conformity with an eternal order (l’ordre immutable). This is a profound spiritual experience of the interpretation of Scripture according to the doctrine of correspondence. It gives vivid descriptions of the Spiritual World. The spirits have lived in cities where they have a social life with social functions (even marriage) corresponding to Earthly conditions. The relegations of spirits to Heaven or Hell from the intervening spiritual World depends on the spirits themselves, since their utmost desire (amor regnans) leads them into suitable company. This theory is extremely intellectual and totally dependent on the interpretation of the divine word as a mediating link between the Creator and man. In the course of time decadent churches have destroyed the original meaning of this word, and Emanuel Swedenborg saw his mission as the restoration of its primary sense. “How much more your Father who is in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7.11)  Jesus Christ urges us to keep our minds filled with the concepts of God’s control over everything, which means that a disciple must maintain an attitude of perfect trust and an eagerness to ask and to seek. Fill your mind with the thought that God is there. God is my Father, He loves me, and I will never think of anything that He will forget, so why should I worry? A State of Trance—God has New Levels in Front of You!

I had a dream last night, a vision, I saw a World full of people, everybody was dancing and screaming loud, and they were there just to listen to the music. It was deep, it was underground. I live for that energy. How much kinder is God to us than we are willing to be to ourselves. Health is the body’s virtue; truth, the soul’s; valor springs but from the unison of these twain.  Absolute Being (God) is also Absolute Beauty. Since beauty tends towards manifestation, Absolute Being developed the phenomenal World. To win a sense of direct communion with the Absolute Being behind the phenomenal World, one should practice the quietistic virtues (poverty, austerity, humility, fortitude, and discipline), devote oneself to the ways of inwardness (withdrawal, silence, solitariness, and self-examination), and keep in mind a constant awareness of God (with faith, awe, and desire). It is useful to utter such slogans (such as “God is here!”) as reminders of the mystic belief and aim as assistance to concentration on the quest for unification. If one follows these directions with sufficient perseverance, one will advance through the standard mystic stages of concentration, apprehension of the oneness of everything, sudden and unpredictable illumination, blissful ecstasy, sense of union with the Deity, sense of one’s own nothingness, and sense of the nothingness beyond nothingness.  #RandolphHarris 1 of 9

 

Beauty is God’s wine, with which he recompenses the souls that love him; he makes them drunk. The vocabulary of love and wine are symbols of the blissful ecstasy of direct mystical apprehension of God. Beauty is judged by a special feeling—taste—which is sometimes seemed to have to be a function of a faculty different from intellect and the faculty of moral feeling but closely connected with both, particularly with the latter through the moral value of beauty. Taste itself is a transition between thinking and feeling.  We are to abide continuously in God and to live at peace with humans. Come you lost Atoms to your Centre draw, and be the Eternal Mirror that you saw: Rays that have wandered into Darkness wide return, and back into your Sun subside. I am the mote in the Sunbeam, I am the ball of the Sun, I am the glow of the morning, I am the breath of the evening; I die as a stone and become a plant, I die as a plant and become animal, dying as a human I shall come to life as an angel, and in the end I shall remember my inner self, God, and the identity of the two, in a state of ecstatic trance and exaltation. #RandolphHarris 2 of 9

By studying the psychological constitution of the soul, it would be possible to deduce the general rules of the different arts—the more special rules cannot either be deduced nor taught. The most important rule concerns the harmony of unity and multiplicity in the beautiful objects as it arises out of the representative action of the soul. Beauty is a product of genius which is the highest stage of the spontaneous representative state of the soul. Genius is a natural force within the soul, and it acts unconsciously in a rational way. It does not create a new World. Art is an imitation of nature not because it copies nature, but because the artist of genius imitates nature’s creative process. One creates nothing outside of nature, but something new within the natural World. In general, art is the expression of a psychological state of human; it imitates human nature in that it expresses nature through the representation of an object. There is something very pleasing in supposing oneself the peculiar care of Providence. In theory of the individual arts, one of the most important contributions are in the aesthetic of music. Music, is the expression of passion. Opera, which is a union of all the arts, is the highest form of drama. One of my favorite genres of music is vocal trance, Arimn van Buuren is a great DJ, so is Paris Hilton; and Aaliyah “Try Again” and “Don’t Know What to Tell Ya” Britney Spears “Breathe on Me” and “Shattered Glass” and “Break the Ice” and Paris Hilton “High off my Love” in many cases, do a great job of making hypnotic versions of vocal trance. One of my favorite songs right now is by Ultimate and Moonsouls Featuring Marjan called “No One Else,” Vocal trance produces a kind of mystical experience, it is relaxing and energizing. Our thoughts determine the extent to which we manifest our talents and abilities, and they set the quality and quantity of our successes and failures. However, what is it that determines and influences the direction of our thoughts? As we have seen, it is our feelings that determine and produce the kind of thinking will lead us to success or failure in any endeavor. Generally, we are knowledgeable and well trained in mater pertaining to the outer World. Yet, we are sometimes unknowledgeable and uncertain in the inner World, the World of feelings. The reconciliation of the human race according to God’s plan means realizing Him not only in our lives individually, but also in our lives collectively. It is a way that helps me understand God’s nature. The World is a free act of God, and creatures owe their existence to God. My life’s spiritual honor and duty is to fulfill my debt to Christ in relation to lost souls. Jesus Christ urges us to keep our minds filled with the concept of God’s control over everything, which means that a disciple must maintain an attitude of perfect trust and an eagerness to ask and seek. Fill your mind with the thought that God is there. God is my Father, He loves me, and I will never think of anything that He will forget, so why should I worry? Without a change of consciousness, there is no real reduction of stress. Intelligent life goes beyond this planet. When you take time to honor God, he is moved by your faith. Your faith is opening the door for the extraordinary. The moment God put a dream in your heart, the foundation of the promises was under construction by the grand architect. It may be taking some time for you dream to come to fruition. However, God is saying to you that you need to get ready because he is going to finish what he started. No one and nothing can stop God from fulfilling His promises. God will complete you’re the secret petitions of your heart. Do not let people make you feel rejected nor steal your dreams, nor talk you into settling for mediocrity. The most obvious and visible effect of letting go of negative feelings is a resumption of emotional and psychological growth and the solving of problems, which often have been long-standing. There is pleasure and satisfaction as we begin to experience the powerful effects of eliminating the blocks to achievement and satisfaction in life. We soon discover that the limiting thoughts and negative beliefs, which we had naively held to be true, were all merely the result of accumulated negative feelings. Will you keep believing even though it looks impossible? Will you stay in faith, even though every voice tells you it is not happening? Being confident that God began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. God remembers the dreams He placed in your heart. Get your passion back. Things have shifted in your favor. God is going to finish what he started. Entire areas of life can open up. What used to be awkward or unexpressed can become effortless and joyously alive. Wait on God and He will work, but do not wait in spiritual sulks because you cannot see an inch in front of you! Are we detached enough from our spiritual hysterics to wait on God? To wait is not to sit with folded hands, but to learn to do what we are told. God never made promises that were too good to be true. God’s mist striking victories arise out of the graves of apparent defeat. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is a faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.  #RandolphHarris 7 of 9

There is a God in Heaven who loves you as you are and not as you should be. That love will save us from our sins and makes us what we should be as God’s children. God’s faithful covenant of love is an oath He swore to your ancestors that He brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery. A covenant is two people, or two parties entering into a formal agreement. The making of covenants was a common feature in the ancient World. A convent would often be made with a solemn action, such as a blood sacrifice. We have boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus Christ. When God enter into a covenantal relationship with humans, He sovereignly institutes a life-and-death bond. A covenant is a bond in blood, or a bond in life and death sovereignly administered. Spirit can merge with spirit, and is not limited by space or time. God is looking for people who have faith that He can see, a faith that is demonstrated. We are to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Our lives here have eternal meaning and are for the glory of God.  #RandolphHarris 8 of 9

 

Someone save me, help me breathe. I feel this love was cursed so long ago. Never had the chance to grow. So, what does this love covenant with God mean to us as humans? It means that God will save our souls, and we shall have eternal life. When our bodies perish, God will reap our souls and take us to Heaven so we can live again. We are central in God’s great work. He teaches that as we receive His light, we can reflect that light in the World. In the coming days, God will bring opportunities for you to increase your influence in amazing way. What you have seen God do in the past will pale in comparison to what God is about to do. Get ready for God’s favor and blessings. However, we cannot allow our fears to separate us from the possession of our souls. You are a child of Almighty God, created to grow, move forward, increase, and constantly surpass the barriers of the past and advance God’s Kingdom. Good enough is not your destiny as a child of the Most High God. Love is a stronger passion than any vanity. What God spoke over your life, what he promised you in the night, what He whispered in your spirit, those hidden dreams will come true. This is not the end. #RandolphHarris 9 of 9

What is Not Pink is Not a Flamingo and What is Not Just is Not to be Done

 

Sometimes words cannot express deep feelings of love. God knows from all eternity what an individual will do if His grace is extended to an individual, and He consequently gives sufficient grace to effect the congruent action of the individual’s will with his grace. An ordinance of reason is directed to the common good and that obligation is the essence of law and that responsibility is essentially an act of will. God’s law is an act of a just and right will by which a superior wills society to oblige to live by. Our life’s purpose is to understand and refine and grow so that we can teach others the love of God. The mystery of God’s love is the reason for everything he does from this beautiful World he created to the freedom He gives us to live and explore it. Human beings, in their groupings down through the centuries, have concocted, shivered, and patched certain social conditions well enough calculated to develop the best and the worst that is in us, making it easier for us to be bad than good, that good might be the standard. God never does anything accidentally, and He never makes mistake. God has a reason for everything he creates. #RandolphHarris 1 of 8

In the present day, we may not be living under an evil empire, but we could be living under another, more sinister menace that is walking among us every day. You may feel that you are under an existential threat. Therefore, emotions need to be addressed because without such attention, the darkness of humanity awaits. A crucial component of our journey on Earth is being compelled to model and magnify the love of God wherever we go. We are in sad want of good news about God; and what does other news signify if we have not that? For everything else comes to an end, and when we die we leave it all. However, God lasts when everything else is gone. What shall we do if He is not our friend? Within each of us is the pearl of a divine self still being molded, and God have given us a way to realize our potential. God have us Jesus Christ to atone for our sins and the Holy Ghost to testify of truth, comfort, and guise us. The three members of the Godhead—God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost—are distinctly separate entities, but united in a divine purpose to foster our happiness and salvation. #RandolphHarris 2 of 8

Society should stop forcing unnecessary labels on people and allow them to tell their own stories. Some people really are not evil. However, their actions are clearly bad and should be characterized as evil, but those actions are motivated by something else. People with evil actions are driven by a magnified emotion we all experience to one degree or another. Some people are motivated by anxiety and what matter is where they place their sense of control. Many individuals attempt to control everything external to them, they are self-important. People of God strive to demonstrate self-control and allow for free will. There is only one virtue in life, a single quality that could solve all the World’s problems, end all hatred, and cure every broken heart—to love God as our Father in Heaven. The love of God gives us purpose in life and compassion for all living beings. Happiness is the purpose and design of existence, and that is God’s purpose for our lives. All beings are to have virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keep the commandments of God to lead a happy life. #RandolphHarris 3 of 8

 

Eternal law is the divine providence which extends to all creatures and from which the other laws are derived. Defined as a free decree of the will of God, who lays down the order to be observed, it is immutable and has always existed with God. It differs from the other laws, whose origins depend upon their promulgation; the eternal law receives it promulgation only through other laws. Human’s knowledge of such a law is limited and is reflected in one’s acceptance of the divine aw, the discovery of the natural law, and one’s promulgation of the human law. Divine law is the direct revelation of God—the Mosaic law. The power and the will of God are the source of human obligation to obey the divine law. God Almighty is just and gracious, and gives not His assent to rash and inhuman curses. God sees at one view the whole thread of our existence, not only that part which we have already passed through, but that which runs forward into all the depths of eternity. Before the creation of this Earth, our Heavenly Father provided a plan that made it possible for us, His children to become more like him. The will is placed in the soul, and who can enter there but He that created the soul? This plane was called the plan for salvation. Before this mortal life, we lived with God as His spirit children, without physical bodies. We chose God’s plan, which included the creation of this Earth and provided us the opportunity to come here to gain a body, make choices, develop faith, and accept responsibility for our actions. This allows us to progress beyond what was possible in the spirit World when we lived with God. Some philosophers believe that you even selected the parents you have. Beauty and pureness are everlasting; they are of God, and can never die. They may for a moment be obscured, but they shall reappear in brighter luster. Love leads to God. Because God made you for a reason, he also decided when you would be born and how long you will live. “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!” (Psalms 139.16). God is the disposer of all. He can turn back the captivity of Judah, even by the weakest instrument. To execute His message, the snail as sure a messenger as the falcon. Natural law is the participation of the moral nature of human beings in the eternal law. The natural law is based on the light of reason, but it is the work of the divine will and not the human will; its ultimate source is God, the supreme legislator. The natural law is not identified with man’s nature; it transcends his will. The precepts of the natural law are the general and primary principles—to do good and avoid evil; the more definite and specific principles—that God must be worshipped; and certain moral precepts that may be deduced from the primary principles—that usury is unjust, adultery is wrong, and so on. Choose for yourself this day whom you will serve. I cannot give u my will—I must exercise it, putting it into action. I must will to obey, and I must will to receive God’s Spirit. There is no dispensation from the natural law; its precepts do not reflect a change in the natural law, for although the natural law conferred all things upon human beings in common, it did not positively enjoin that only this form of ownership should endure. Human law must be based on either the divine law or the natural law and is best exemplified in political philosophy. The state is natural, and legislative power is derived from the community and exists for the good of the community. The ultimate source of such power is God, whose bestows it as a natural property upon the community. Such power is actualized only upon the formation of a political society. The form of government is essentially a matter of choice by the people. Spiritual supremacy and jurisdiction is the aim of a spiritually vigorous saint “that I may know Him” (Philippians 3.10). #RandolphHarris 7 of 8

Do you have even the slightest reliance on anything other than God? Is there a remnant of reliance left on any natural quality within you? Are you relying on yourself in any manner? Will you examine yourself by asking these probing questions? Is your relationship with God sufficient for you to expect Him to exhibit His wonderful life in you? A spiritually vigorous saint never believes that his or her circumstances simply happen at random, nor does one ever think of their life as being divided into the secular and the sacred. Have a faith the God can see. Put actions behind what you believe. It is not enough to just pray, not enough to just believe. Take it one step further and demonstrate your faith. You may not see how your dream could ever work out, but as you increase your faith, you will see God begin to create new opportunities for you, giving you the strength to do what you could not before. God will show you His favor in miraculous ways. When the Creator of the Universe placed a dream in your heart, He also set a completion date to bring it to pass. #RandolphHarris 8 of 8
