A Small Mentality Can Only Mangle a Large Truth

Shame and guilt are rich human emotions that serve important functions at both the individual and relationship levels. On the one hands, as moral emotions, shame, and guilt are among our most private, intimate experiences. In the face of transgression or error, the self turns toward the self—evaluating and rendering judgment. Thus, the experience of shame or guilt can guide our behavior and influence who we ae in our own eyes. On the other hand, shame and guilt are inextricably linked to the self in relationships with others. These emotions develop from our relationships. Ans throughout the lifespan, these emotions exert a profound and continued influence on our behavior in interpersonal contexts. Shame and guilt are thus both “self-conscious” and “moral” emotions: self-conscious in that they involve the self evaluating the self, and moral in that they presumably play a key role in fostering moral behavior. However, sometimes it may seem easier to feel hopeless about yourself than to feel the love the Savior has for you—but as Nephi knew, it does not have to be that way. When you do something wrong, you might have thoughts cross your mind that you are a failure. That you should have known better. That you are not worth loving. Deep down, you know that none of those things are true. You have learned about your worthy as a son or daughter of God, and you know that repentance is real and possible. #RandolphHarris 1 of 30

However, still after you have sinned or made a mistake, you might be tempted to punish yourself more than anyone else would with thoughts of guilt and shame. Feelings of shame may appear in our awareness as vague uneasiness, as embarrassment, or, more specifically as feelings of guilt. This transformation is of particular importance because it allows for a rather quick understanding of certain guilt-feelings. If, for instance, a person full of pervasive unconscious pretenses is guilty perturbed by a comparatively harmless and inconsequential lie, we may safely assume that he is more concerned with appearing than with being honest; and that his pride is hurt by not having been able to maintain the fiction of ultimate and absolute veracity. Or If an egocentric person feels guilty about some inconsiderateness, we have to ask whether this guilt feeling is not shame about having besmirched the halo of goodness rather than an honest regret for not having been as sensitive to others as he would like to be. Furthermore, it may be that none of these reactions, whether direct or transformed, is consciously felt; we may merely be aware of our reactions to these reactions. Prominent among such “secondary” reactions are rage and fear. That any hurt to our pride may provoke vindictive hostility is well known. It goes all the way from dislike to hate, from irritability to anger to a blind murderous rage. #RandolphHarris 2 of 30

Sometimes the connection between rage and pride is easily enough established—for the observer. For instance, a person is enraged against his boss who he feels has treated him cavalierly, or against a taxi driver who has cheated him—incidents which, at most, would account for annoyance. The person himself would only be aware of a justified anger at the bad behavior of others. The observer, let us say the analyst, would see that his pride was hurt by incidents, that he felt humiliated and then reacted with rage. The patient may accept this interpretation as most likely accounting for the excessive reaction, or he may insist that his reaction was not excessive at all and that his anger was a warranted reaction to the wickedness or stupidity of others. While of course not all irrational hostility is due to hurt pride, it does play a greater part than is generally assumed. The analyst always should be alert to this possibility, particularly concerning the patient’s reaction to him, to interpretations, and to the whole analytic situation. If the hostility has ingredients of degradation, contempt, or intent to humiliate, the connection with hurt pride is more easily discernible. What operates here is the straight law of retaliation. The patient, without knowing it, has felt humiliated and returns in kind. After such incidents it is sheer waste of time to talk about the patient’s hostility. The analyst must go straight to the point by raising a question as to what has registered in the patient’s mind as humiliation. #RandolphHarris 3 of 30

Sometimes impulses to humiliate the analyst, or thoughts about it unaccompanied by any effect, appear right at the beginning of the analysis, before the analyst has touched any sore spot. In this case, it is likely that the patient feels unconsciously humiliated by the very fact of being analyzed, and it is the analyst’s job to bring this connection into clear focus. Naturally, what happens is analysis also happens outside. And, if we thought more often of the possibility that offensive behavior may stem from hurt pride, we would save ourselves many painful or even heartbreaking troubles. Thus, when a friend or relative behaves in an obnoxious fashion after have liberally helped him, we should not be upset over this ingratitude but consider how badly his pride may have been hurt by accepting help. And, according to circumstances, we might either talk to him about it or try ourselves to help him in a way that saves his face. Likewise, in the case of a generally contemptuous attitude toward people, it is not enough to resent a person’s arrogance; we must also regard him as someone who goes through life with a raw skin because of being pervasively vulnerable through his pride. If we feel we have offended our own pride, what is less well known is that the same hostility, hate, or contempt may be directed against ourselves. Violent self-reproaches are no the only form this rage at self may assume. Vindictive self-hatred has so many far-reaching implications. #RandolphHarris 4 of 30

Looking more closely at the concept of the healthy individual as one who lives primarily in the present, we see that living fully in the moment requires no concern for external support or sustenance. To say, “I am adequate now” rather than “I was adequate once” or “I will be adequate again” is self-validating and self-justifying. Just being in the moment is sufficient and is an end. Being has its own reward—a feeling of trust in one’s self-support. Experiencing self-support, a by-product of living in the present, is being “inner-directed” as opposed to “other-directed.” Maslow said that a person experiencing time in this way is one living in a state of “creative innocence.” In the child, there is a total unquestioning acceptance of whatever happens. Since there is also very little memory, very little leaning on the past, there is little tendency in the child to bring the past into the present or into the future. The consequence is that the child is totally without past or future. If one expects nothing, if one has no anticipations or apprehensions, if in a certain sense there is no future, because the child is moving totally “here—now,” there can be no surprise, no disappointment. One thing is as likely as another to happen. This is “perfect waiting” and spectatorship without any demands that one thing happen rather than another. There is no prognosis. And no prediction means no worry, no anxiety, no apprehension, or foreboding. #RandolphHarris 5 of 30

This is all related to the conception of the creative personality as one who is totally here—now, one who lives without future or past. Another way of saying this is: “The creative person is an innocent.” An innocent could be defined as a grown person who can still perceive, or think or react like a child. It is this innocence that is recovered in the “second naivete, or perhaps the “second innocence” of the wise old man who has managed to recover the ability to be childlike. The manipulators may be past-oriented and using the past as an excuse for failure. They may be future-oriented and using the future for promises that never materialize. Or they may be present-oriented and using the present to talk about everything they are doing but getting none of it done. In any event, they spend most of their time justifying and defending themselves: If they are marginalized manipulators, they are criers or blamers, asking for love despite bad luck. If they are in positions of power and authority, they con us into pseudo-support and justification, in that the deception of another person gives them a feeling of power. If they were deeply honest, they would have to admit that their ventures are empty and unfulfilling. Actualizers, on the other hand (as always), are doers, be-ers. They express feelings and talents to cope with life in the present. #RandolphHarris 6 of 30

Actualizers feel good about themselves because their existence is filled with ongoing activity. They experience self-support and self-expression in living life in the here and now. They move freely into the past for memories and into the future for goals, but remember that these, too, are acts of the present from which self-support comes. For actualizers, life is an exciting process of trusting themselves in the here and now. The self-concept itself is an abstraction. Like the “mind,” it has no special location and is not comprised of any particular organ. (Children asked to locate their selves usually point either to their chest or their forehead.) The self-concept may be conveniently thought of as being divided into several sub-selves or “roles.” Thus, you may find included in your self-concept your role as a student, as an athlete, as a first child of the family, as a dancer, as a lover, as a spouse, as a parent, as a teacher, or as a merchant. While persons differ widely in their most important sub-self or role, for most people their way of earning a living becomes a major role. Thus, in one of Bugental’s earliest self-concept tests, the WAY (Who Are You?), many people replied in terms of their job. In the opening lines to Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Flavius, walking the streets of Rome, is dismayed to find the populace walking about in their best clothes and chides a workman: “What, know you not…you ought not walk upon a laboring day without the sign of your profession?” #RandolphHarris 7 of 30

Whether deeds or rules should be the basis of a moral code is a thorny theological issue. Certain theologically oriented writers have rightly reacted against the old moral rigidity and have rejected automatic condemnation of fallible men and women for behavior of pleasures of the flesh which are disapproved of by the church. However, have they presently overreached themselves and therefore inadvertently undermined the concept of voluntary commitment to pleasures of the flesh? Is it possible that they have lost sight of a human need for the security of reasonable limits in relationships that involve pleasures of the flesh, a need that exists independently of religious doctrine? Extramarital pleasures of the flesh is a case in point, and one pronouncement on the subject can be singled out both because it summarizes the issues and because it has been commended for its wisdom by a Catholic priest, Robert T. Francoeur. It originally appeared in 1968 in Honest Sex, a book with the subtitle, “A Revolutionary Sex Ethic by and for Concerned Christians,” written by a husband and wife, Rustum and Della Roy. They are described as “active Christian lay people involved in church, community and educational organizations and concerned with mental health.” The sentences quoted below are referred to with unequivocal approval by Dr. Francoeur in his book, Eve’s New Rib. #RandolphHarris 8 of 30

The Royas write: “We find that sexual relations with persons other than a spouse are becoming more common. When other criteria of appropriateness are fulfilled, such relations do not necessarily destroy or hurt a marriage, nor do they inflict an unbearable hurt on the partner not involved. Indeed, when human need is paramount, such relationships can serve as the vehicle of faithfulness to God.” These are not three sentences taken out of context; they express the core of a particular philosophy, which is why they were chosen by Dr. Francoeur as a summation of his own beliefs. Their meaning, however, is something less than precise. For example, what is the purpose in noting that extramarital pleasures of the flesh are “becoming more common”? Is the frequency with which something happens a reliable indication of its value? Besides, by what objective measure have the Roys been able to confirm as a fact that such behavior is more common? Compared to when? Who sets the “criteria for appropriateness” by which extramarital intercourse is to be judged, the partner who participates or the partner who does not—or do they decide together, and if so, who has the final decision? Whose “human need” is being considered—that of the involved partner, the noninvolved partner or the third party? Moreover, who is to define these needs, sexual or otherwise, and then weigh them to determine which deserved to be labeled “paramount”? #RandolphHarris 9 of 30

Such a fantasy conjures up an image of passionless creatures who expect that their rational minds, like computers that have been fed all the available data, can be trusted to make the right decision, uninfluenced by such a natural emotion, for example, as physical desire. To encourage such a belief is to encourage the dangerous and self-serving malady of megalomania. The Roys verge on doing this with their assurance that having extramarital relationships may “serve as the vehicle of faithfulness to God.” However, since they are aware that men and women caught in sexual triangles are imperfect and vulnerable human beings, they must acknowledge that there are risks. They do so, however, in evasive terms. Extramarital pleasures of the flesh, they say, does not “necessarily” harm or destroy a marriage, nor does it inflict “an unbearable hurt” on the uninvolved partner. Not necessarily—but possibly? Even probably? And who decides whether this real risk of harming or destroying the marriage is worth taking—the partner who will enjoy having an affair in which the act of intercourse is conceptualized as an act of Christian charity? Or the involved partner, who has little, if anything to gain, and a lot to lose? As for being hurt, what does “unbearable” mean? Must the hurt partner commit suicide to prove that it was beyond endurance? Or suffer an emotional collapse? Or does asking for a divorce suffice to make the point? #RandolphHarris 10 of 30

It is one thing to repudiate the idea that every instance of extramarital pleasures of the flesh is an anathema to God; it is something else to advance the idea that in certain cases, extramarital pleasures of the flesh is a way of being faithful to God. Such a suggestion, coming from authorities who are concerned with the ethics of pleasures of the flesh, is doubly dangerous. Not only does it lend itself to the most seductive of rationalizations but it undermines the value of pleasures of the flesh commitment by subordinating the exclusive physical bond between husband and wife to the apparent needs of a third person. Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children. When a man and woman are married in the temple, their family can be together forever. This is a common goal of Latter-day Saints. Life’s greatest joys are found in the family. Strong family relationships require effort, but such effort brings great happiness in this life and throughout eternity. In our Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness, a man and a woman can be sealed to one another for a time and all eternity. If they are true to their covenants, those who are sealed in the temple have the assurance that their relationship will continue forever. They know that nothing, not even death, can permanently separate them. The covenant of eternal marriage is necessary for exaltation. #RandolphHarris 11 of 30

After receiving the sealing ordinance and making sacred covenants in the temple, a couple must continue in faithfulness to receive the blessings of eternal marriage and exaltation. The Lord said: “If a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of promise, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of this priesthood; and if [they] abide in my covenant, it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world.” Those who are married should consider their union as their most cherished earthly relationship. A spouse is the only person other than the Lord whom we have been commanded to love with all our heart. Marriage, in its truest sense, is a partnership of equals, with neither person exercising dominion over the other but with each encouraging, comforting, and helping the other. Because marriage is such an important relationship in life, it needs and deserves time over less important commitments. Couples can strengthen their marriage as they take time to talk together and listen to one another, be thoughtful and respectful, and express tender feelings and affection often. #RandolphHarris 12 of 30

Cynicism, the deification of history and of matter, individual terror, and State crime, these are the inordinate consequences that will now spring, armed to the teeth, from the equivocal conception of a world that entrusts to history alone the task of producing both values and truth. If nothing can be clearly understood before truth has been brought to light, at the end of time, then every action is arbitrary, and force will finally rule supreme. “If reality is inconceivable,” Hegal exclaims, “then we must contrive inconceivable concepts.” A concept that cannot be conceived must, perforce, like error, be contrived. However, to be accepted it cannot rely on the persuasion innate in order and truth, but must finally be imposed. Hegel’s attitude consists of saying: “This is truth, which appears to us, however, to be error, but which is true precisely because it happens to be error. As for proof, it is not I, but history, at its conclusion, that will furnish it.” Such pretensions can only entail two attitudes: either the suspension of all affirmation until the production of proof, or the affirmation of everything, in history, which seems dedicated to success—force in particular. And both attitudes imply nihilism. Moreover, of we overlook the fact that unfortunately it derived a large part of its inspiration from a philosophy of conformity and opportunism, it is impossible to understand twenty-first century revolution. True rebellion is not jeopardized on account of the distortion of these ideas. #RandolphHarris 13 of 30

People with small mentalities are constitutionally incapable of perceiving any other truth besides the new one which they happen to have embraced now, dazzled by its blaze as they are. People can see every half-truth and every quarter-truth, but they can not see the obvious truth. This is because they are so sated with self-interest and prejudice. The aspirant, too, may be crammed full of prejudice and have enough self-interest to fill a bank but—he knows it; he is trying to disentangle it, whereas they go on in blissful ignorance and imagine they are envisaging facts when they are only pampering to prejudice. It is a common habit to belittle ideas and practices simply because they are unknown or less familiar, but it is not a wise habit. When he finds that the truth is not what he had always supposed it to be, he is either shamed and humiliated or surprised and exhilarated. It is possible to know some things; only to believe other things: while the residue may be hoped for—nothing more. It is not an uncommon experience to observe how some persons project their own fancies on outer happenings, meetings, and persons—in other words, bringing their own thoughts and imaginations into real events and confusing the two. That latest knowledge is not the last nor the latest governmental form the final and best. #RandolphHarris 14 of 30

The conventional mentality thinks and therefore speaks in clichés. Its capacity for independent activity does not exist. It is a common enough mistake among the thoughtless to confound the abstruse with the absurd. This is surely something that should appeal to a reasonable and reflective person. That is why few will be found at first to listen to it, for few take the time to reflect; most are led by the nose since they are led by prejudice. There are so many men who believe that they know very well where they stand, but who believe wrongly. If challenged, the mass mind, with its ignorance and from the varied pressures, suggestions, traditions, or authorities imposed on it from outside and opposed by resistances or desires from inside, is at first thrown into greater confusion. His mind acknowledges no criterion of truth, no convention of goodness, no taste in beauty merely because convention tradition or society supports it. He must examine it first; he has also to find out what other minds in olden and medieval as well as modern times, in widely differing Eastern lands as well as Occidental ones, thought of these matters; finally, he had to consult his own reason, and above all, his own intuition and compare all these views quite impartially and without selfish interest. If they are to yield proper solutions, we may apply human reason, not supernatural “revelation,” to all our problems. #RandolphHarris 15 of 30

Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. reinforced the importance of personal accountability as he tells a story from his career. He was thrown out of a game in the first inning for arguing with an umpire. He later found out that a fan had brought his young son all the way to Baltimore to see his favorite baseball player, but never saw him take one swing. The boy was heartbroken, and the press ran with the story. Cal felt horrible. He began evaluating what was important to him and where he needed to improve. He settled in about personal accountability. A short time later, he was playing a game in Toronto. As he took the field in pregame warm-ups, he noticed the sod where he played shortstop was raised up to a hump. Apparently, the irrigation or drainage system had leaked the night before and froze under the turf. His first thought was to complain to the umpires and groundskeepers. He could have chosen to ask them to delay the game to fix the field or he could have used it as an excuse if he had a bad game. Instead, he chose to suck it up and play a couple feet in from his normal spot, making the most of it. He decided he was not going to allow outside circumstances to affect his performance. He played that game without a complaint and went on to continue playing every game for the record of most consecutive games played in this history of professional baseball. #RandolphHarris 16 of 30

People in leadership position have even a greater need for accountability. How many times have you noted a popular politician, movie star, church leader, or public safety official plummet in disgrace as the result of a scandal? Many sources suggest that as people work their way higher in an organization, the hard work and accountability to get there has been replaced by an entitlement once they arrive. In his book, Why Great Men Fall, author Wayde Goodall theorizes that the failure of leaders is not necessarily one big misstep, but rather a series of temptations that eventually are reasoned as privilege. In his farewell speech, Senator John Ensign apologized for his actions that came easily with “more power and prestige.” Many leaders that ignore personal accountability when they are successful make poor moral decisions, yet carry on with their business as though nothing happened. Eventually, the behavior catches up, and the leader is forced to give up everything that was earned. As a result, emergency workers must realize that although personal accountability is a tough skill to master, promotions will only make it tougher to maintain. A fire fighter with the Award-winning Sacramento Fire Department, who works his or her way up through the ranks to a chief position will find it might be easier to come in late, take a longer lunch, or leave a little earlier at the end of the day. Failing to meet minimum training requirements might be rationalized as less relevant than completing administrative duties. Unfortunately, this example also can carry over to accountability safety. #RandolphHarris 17 of 30

Many agencies can provide pictures of emergency scenes where an officer is not wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Maybe they reasoned that they were only entering the hazard zone to “take a look,” or that they were not “actively involved” in the incident so their risks were lower. All members must learn ways to improve personal accountability for health and safety regardless of rank. Improving personal accountability is key to eliminating blame and ultimately improving safety. There are several ways to help achieve accountability, including making the decision to be accountable, becoming an active member of your department, speaking up, taking responsibility for the outcome of calls, and taking responsibility for safety. As you have seen, professionals require intensive education in a particular service or skill that most members of society do not have. Along with all of this expertise are some distinct responsibilities. As a professional with the award-winning Sacramento Fire Department, you must be aware of them. Professionals offer a service that is vital to society. This service is performed for a person or group of people commonly referred to as clients. Professional expertise is so complex that laymen are usually not capable of understanding what the professional does or how he or she does it. Therefore, the professional has exclusive possession of a certain skill set, and the client agrees to accept the professional’s application of those skills. This relationship creates certain expectations. Just as the professional expects the client to place affairs completely within his or her hands, the client expects the professional to observe certain ethical standards of behavior. #RandolphHarris 18 of 30

Society expects the professionals with the award-winning Sacramento Fire Department to fulfill three key obligations: Not exceed professional competence (no “Custer’s Last Stands”), act only in the nation’s best interest, maintain integrity with the American people. Clearly, the professional has most of the leverage in this relationship, at least until proven otherwise, and he or she is accepted as the unquestioned authority. Most people enter a profession because of an abiding desire to serve society and their fellow man. Many endure great personal hardship to meet the standards of their “calling.” Consider the medical student who graduates with hefty student loans after spending many years as a full-time student—or your own sacrifices to attend college and become a professional with the Sacramento Fire Department. Most professional also desire to maintain their ability to control their profession. They realize that only as long as the profession abides by ethical standards will society allow it to keep functioning autonomously. “The salary thing has got to be separate, because nobody could continue to do this unless they wanted to. I’ll be forty in December, and I see things a lot differently, looking back and looking ahead. I love this job. It’s a lifetime challenge because every fire is different, even the same variables move around in different sequences. We pay a lot of attention to building construction and renovation. And it amazes me how hard young officer work to come up through the ranks and how much intensive knowledge of fire science and fireground experience they have. #RandolphHarris 19 of 30

“The guys in our battalion work hard every day. If I ever get lucky and make district chief, a top priority will be to continue to improve our knowledge of the conditions we work under and what certain types of buildings are going to do before the fire, so we are prepared when we get there. Not everything is a three-story frame—we call them three-deckers—where you finish yawning and the fire is out. This is a serious profession. We’re trying to maintain this image that we’re supermen but at the same time acknowledging that we’re not indestructible or infallible but only human. Some officers misinterpret the way the guys behave. There is just plain a lot of stress that goes with the job. I wish we could have a program in all the fire departments where the media actually go to drill school. I’d like to see the reporters and the mayors of all these cities go down the long hallway trying to search, or pulling a line and trying to pull ceilings at the same time. I believe they’d have a different view of firefighter if they could go to two or three jobs in a row, then come out and say, ‘I didn’t quite realize it was like that.’ Civilians just don’t believe how fast that fire will travel. They leave their kids unattended for a couple of minutes, shoot out the door, and go down to the corner for a second. How quickly it spreads. Those things hit me nowadays.” Leaders can enhance their ability to maintain accountability by surrounding themselves with people who will be honest with you about who you really are or what you are becoming. Since officers may have trouble noticing a change, it’s vital that they are ready for it and use colleagues or family members to maintain an awareness for them. #RandolphHarris 20 of 30

If you see a fire truck stopped in the street without the lights on, be very careful. Sometimes there is an emergency and you should not pass the fire truck. It might be a good idea to safely turn around and go another way because if you hit someone and they happen to die, you could be charged with manslaughter. Sometimes fire fighters are getting back into their vehicle and if you pass the apparatus, you may collide with a firefighter who is on foot. Also, be sure to look at their signals, sometimes emergency vehicles are in motions, albeit, slowly, and drivers try to pass them, and this could lead to a dangerous situation. Also, if you are in an intersection when you see an emergency vehicle, continue through the intersection. Drive to the right as soon as it is safe and stop. Obey any direction, order, or signal given by a law enforcement officer, or a firefighter. Even if they conflict with existing signs, signals, or laws, follow their orders. When their siren or flashing lights are on, it is against the law to follow within 300 feet of any fire engine, law enforcement vehicle, ambulance, or other emergency vehicle. If you drive to the scene of a fire, collision, or other disaster, you can be arrested. When you do this, you are getting in the way of firefighters, ambulance crews, or other rescue and emergency personnel. The concept of professional courage does not always mean being as tough as nails, either. It also suggests a willingness to listen to other peoples’ problems, to go to bat for them in a tough situation and it means knowing just how far they can go. It also means being willing to tell the boss when he or she is wrong. #RandolphHarris 21 of 30

California is the third most expensive state in the nation. A single person making an income above $100,000 is now consider low-income in five counties in California. This distinction now applies to individuals living in Santa Cruze, Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, and Marin counties. In 37 percent of counties, a family of four living on a six-figure income is now considered low-income. In fact, Governor Gavin Newsom of Democratic controlled California, brags about being the world’s “fifth largest economy,” but it also facing a $12 billion deficit, looking to cut $747 million for state worker’s pay, pushing to keep medical insurance for illegal immigrants, but wants to cut medical for anyone who has assets over $2,000 and the state has the largest homeless population in the nation. If they are all officially counted, California has approximately 4 million homeless people. The highest home prices in the nation, the highest taxes and the most unfriendly business regulations known to man. The average home price in California is nearly $1,000,000.00 USD, while the average salary is $96,036.00, meaning that most Californians cannot even afford to buy a home. California is having an affordability crisis. In 2025, many people in California saw their bills increase by an estimated $500 a month. This includes things like food, automobile insurance, homeowner’s insurance, electricity. In fact, more than 3 million people in California are facing household hardship, and more than 300,000 of them are facing eviction soon. This comes at a time when California is having a shortage of affordable housing. This is caused by nearly half a century’s old laws that discourage homes sales and encourage higher rents. Meanwhile, China, where we are sending all of our jobs and money has more than 50 ghost cities. Ghost cities are regions will housing has been overdeveloped to the point that these places are uninhabited. Because California is so hostile towards people and businesses, more than 360 companies have fled the state since 2020. Businesses like Chevron, SpaceX, Oracle, and Hewlett Packard are amongst the names on that list. #RandolphHarris 22 of 30

Also, more than 500,000 people a year are abandoning California because it is too expensive to live in, Gavin Newsom has criminalized homelessness and actually started arresting people without homes, crime is out of control, and they are losing their jobs due to companies relocating. More than 100 companies have announced layoffs in California for 2025. Intel is cutting 15,000 jobs, PayPal 2,500 and Meta has terminated 4,000 employees. The California crisis created by Democrats is driving up home prices and mortgages and rents all over the nation and the world, making living unaffordable for all, and advocates say the crisis is far from over. Accordingly, California has more than 3.5 million illegal immigrants. Having the Southern American boarder open and not having American farmland protected, not producing beef, poultry, fish, fruit, produce and dairy in America, and without American goods and services being our number one manufactured and selling items, America has created a dangerous and significantly elevated risks to national security, national economic security, and national public health. Some people may believe that these claims are overstated, but by not routinely monitoring Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CEVs) or other security relevant alerts, such as end-of-life of machinery is how the Oroville Dam Crisis occurred in 2017. Other crises that have occurred due to neglect of critical infrastructure is the 2025 Palisades fires because Southern California ran out of water, when they are located next to an ocean and they could have simply created desalinating plants to help with the water shortage. The water is so plentiful that it is currently eroding land and causing homes to fall into the sea. Desalination has been identified as one technology that will help solve California’s water scarcity problem. Desalination is a cost-effective technology that can transform an abundance of salt water into a reliable supply of potable, fresh water, which is a great way to fight climate change and have enough water for our region’s water requirements. Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia is producing 1,036,000 meters (273,682,192) per day of desalinated water. #RandolphHarris 23 of 30

The American government should know all exploitable vulnerabilities and fix them prior to the situation becoming a crisis. Failure to take such mitigating actions is dangerous and significantly elevates risk to national security, national economic security, and national public health and safety. The American government must understand that significant time and resources must be invested in America. They must also encourage corporations to plan for both mitigating safety vulnerabilities in the short term and eliminating them in the long term. For instance, a company might begin by reaching out to the federal, state or local government and requesting tax incentives to provide security to dangerous communities, to help the government repair bridges and potholes. America needs an approach to eliminate safety vulnerabilities in American cities. There needs to be a road map by the end of 2025, outlining a prioritized approach to eliminate crisis situations in America. There is enough money to send aid to foreign nations, but the American government does not have enough money to care their infrastructure, provide adequate resources, nor end the affordable housing crisis. Nor is there enough money to fund other national critical functions (NCFs). These bad practices of putting America and Americans last is considered exceptionally risky, particularly to national security, national economic security, and national public health and safety. In 2024, Americans spent $100 billion on Japanese cars. #RandolphHarris 24 of 30

The maximum percentage of your gross income that you should earmark for a monthly mortgage payment is calculated at 28 percent, and no more than 36 percent of your gross income to all debts, including mortgage. If you take 28 percent of the median household income per home in Sacramento County, homeowners can only afford a mortgage of $2,070.23 per month. And if you take 36 percent of their gross income to all debts, including mortgage, they should be devoting no more than $2,661.72 a month to these debts. Mortgage lenders must be using some kind of sorcery to get buyers into these expensive homes. To afford one of these homes using traditional guidelines, a household would need to gross $11,280.24 per month or $135,362.88 per year, but the median household in Sacramento County is grossing $7,393.67 or $88,724.00 and that typically means two to four people in the home are working and contributing to the mortgage. Prices in Sacramento County are actually rivaling the Bay Area, and the Bay Aera is so expensive because they have more higher paying jobs and is a tourist destination. And with the State of California being in a budget deficit of $12 billion, Governor Gavin Newsom Granted 700,000 illegal immigrants free health care at a cost to taxpayers of $3 billion annually, while cutting vital programs for veterans, school children, the disabled and the homeless, and is proposing to fast-track his plan to build a $20 billion water tunnel beneath the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta by eliminating environmental reviews and limit avenues for legal challenges. Gavin Newsom only cares about the environment when his policies allow him to raise taxes and restrict freedoms. #RandolphHarris 25 of 30

In fact, Mexico has been causing one of America’s worst environmental disasters. Fifty million gallons a day of industrial chemicals, untreated sewage, and trash flow from Tijuana, Mexico, into southern San Diego County daily. This toxic waste has been turning up on Imperial Beach, and is causing the miles of white sands to become polluted and the ocean breeze to smell of poop, which has been sickening residents and wildlife and costing San Diego millions in the form of lost tourism and health problems. The problem has been going on for more than a century. However, it has become a public health crisis as the population of Tijuana has drastically increased, in recent years, and the waste treatment plants have no longer usable. The beach has been closed for more than three years, and evidence suggests that even breathing the air may be harmful, as toxic particles in the water can become airborne. Yet, even though Gavin Newsom has been governor for six years, he has not rushed into action to stop this very preventable environmental disaster. Why? Because he is not getting kickbacks from China and Mexico, not being gifted mansions and cars, and he cannot tax the struggling California taxpayers to clean up this mess. Simply, it is not profitable for him. Gavin Newsom has been a total tyrant with no regard for taxpayers and does not have a mind for business and should be impeached as soon as possible. He has criminalized poverty, increased taxes, increased tax on gas, and insurance rates so high that people are struggling to survive. In addition to Gavin Newsom’s increased gas prices starting 1 July 2025, the war between Iran and Israel is going to further exacerbate the prices of gas and cause more inflation and economic hardship for people in California. #RandolphHarris 26 of 30

While everyone is making war over America and who belongs here and who she belongs to, so many people forget about the people who are Indigenous to this land. Open boarders have allowed hundreds of thousands of cartel operatives to infiltrate reservations across the United States of America, and use the isolated lands as havens to traffic fentanyl pills and other drugs into the country without protection from federal authorities. Drug cartels have been threatening the health and safety of Native American communities. The trafficking of the dangerous and illegal drugs into their territories is leading to a second genocide. The overdose rate for Indigenous is 42 percent higher than the national average. A recent bust on Montana’s Blackfeet Nation’s Tribal Reservation resulted in the seizure of more than 700,000 fentanyl pills, which was the largest bust in Montana history. Recently, the Blackfeet Nation had to declare a state of emergency after facing 17 overdoses in just one week. There are only 6.8 million Native Americans left in the world, which is 2 percent of the American population. We should be doing more to protect these proud and honorable people; they should not want for anything. People rush and give away resources to illegal immigrants, but totally disregard the Indigenous people of this land, as their race silently fades away into extinction. We must secure our boarders and increase federal funding to Native America tribes so we can save this precious population. Meanwhile, Gavin Newsom has given billions of taxpayer dollars away to illegal immigrants and protected them from law enforcement, while arresting law abiding Americans because they cannot afford to pay rent or mortgage and the homeless shelters are unsafe, overcrowded and have restrictions on who is allowed inside. He also has totally ignored the cartel problems on American lands. Clean air, water, land and preserving our heritage extremely important. We cannot just allow criminals to kill off the people who are native to this land and do nothing about it. Wars have been started over governments who tax citizens without representation. Taxation without representation is what led to the American Revolution. If Gavin Newsom is not stopped, next he will euthanize the poor and sterilize the disabled. Gavin Newsom has wars and fires breaking out on the streets, but goes out of his way to arrest people who have no place to live. This monster is unfit to be governor and must never be allowed to be President of America! Stop Gavin Newsom now! Save California and impeach this unreasonable man. #RandolphHarris 27 of 30

Meanwhile, with President Trump, we are seeing crime rates sharply decrease, and he recently secured $10 trillion in investments. Additionally, in May of 2025, the United States of America collected a record $100 billion in tariff revenue, and that number will increase to $300 billion by the end of 2025. President Trump has also been nominated for a Noble Peace Prize for making Iran and Israel crease fire. If elected president for an unprecedented third term, to make housing more affordable and to offset the cost of homeowner’s insurance and auto insurance, President Trump plans to abolish property taxes. Much like the land crisis in Las Vegas, we could also run out of land to farm and will not be able to grow or cultivate our own food. We can protect American farmland and support American farmers by buying American made beef, poultry, dairy, and produce. Also, country of origin labeling is very important so Americans can know where their food is coming from and have the ability to support American farmers and ranchers. As money flows, it influences further investment. Save the land that sustains us by protecting American farmland. Once the land is built on, we lose it forever. And in the future, there may be food wars. Also, to ensure that we have farmland and buildable land for future use, we need to start limiting the number of people allowed to immigrant to America. Perhaps with the immigrants we do allow into America, there needs to be a diversity program to make sure we have a population that equally represents all races of people. If Americans continue to spend money on American products, then more need to be made to keep up the inventory. When investors notice these goods are selling, it gives them the confidence to pour more money into that local business. It shows that people want these goods made in America and pressures investors to keep these goods and services in America. The jobs stay here, the business stays in American, wages naturally increase, and more money is invested to keep up with demand. This reduces the burden on the taxpayer. When you support American businesses, that money stays in our economy and can help to reduce the national debt. The government creates debt by borrowing from businesses in the private sector or from foreign countries. It also increases the national debt by spending more than it gains in tax revenue in a fiscal year. #RandolphHarris 28 of 30

When people shop locally, more tax money stays in the economy and goes to the government. This way, it keeps more money in our national economy and keeps more jobs located in American which also sends more taxes to the government, which can again help to reduce the national debt. When you buy foreign goods, these companies usually have lighter tax loads or exemptions, meaning less money for the nation debt, plus you are helping to strengthen these foreign nations by send more money overseas. Buying American made products is also better for the environment and helps to reduce the carbon footprint because these products do not have to travel nearly as far. Furthermore, American companies and manufacturers are held to much higher standards on pollution. American companies must be more careful about air, land, and water pollution and have proper ways to dispose of waste. Moreover, please remember to respect law and order and treat your elders with the utmost dignity and kindness possible. And take your education seriously so that you will be successful in life and make your family proud. It is inborn in the human minds to wish to know. If this begins with the endless surface questions of a child’s curiosity, if it continues into deeper questions of a scientist’s probing investigation, it cannot and does not stop there. For the higher part of the mind will eventually come into unfoldment, that union of abstract reflective thought with mystical intuition, which is true intelligence, which needs and sees a view of the whole of things. And so, the knowing faculty enters the realm of philosophy. #RandolphHarris 29 of 30

As you can see, President Donald Trump and his pledge to “Make America Great Again,” is exactly what America needs to save the country and the American people. And yes, diversity is important, so you can see why it is also important to preserve blonde hair and blue eyes as the people with these characteristics are becoming a minority in America. We must think before we can understand the soul’s existence; we must understand before we can realize it. The earliest beginnings of thought, as apart from instinct, when it was itself still but a lurking tendency, belong far back in primeval time. The human intellect as we find it today, so rich and developed an instrument for the consciousness of the ego, did not arrived at this fulness without a series of graduated stages. We have had plenty of scientific thinking, business thinking, and political thinking long enough, but we have had very little inspired thinking. That is the world’s need. The intellect is cradled in selfishness but runs the evolutionary track into reason where it will one day finish at the winning-post of selflessness. As a reminder, parents, pleasure teach your children love America and be patriotic citizens and to buy goods and services made in America. It is also important to respect law and order and treat your elders with respect. Also, to make sure they have all the resources required, please donate to the Sacramento Fire Department to help improve our national security. “Oh, thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand between their loved home and the war’s desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n-rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, and this be our motto: ‘In God is our trust.’ And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” #RandolphHarris 30 of 30

The Conqueror is Always Right!

All people are born with the capacity to distinguish between right and wrong. This ability, called conscience, is a manifestation of the Light of Christ. A person’s conscience is a defense against situations that are spiritually harmful. Righteous decisions and obedience to the commandments bring peace of conscience. When we sin, we feel remorse or guilt, just as we feel physical pain when we are wounded. This is the natural response of our conscience to sin, and it can lead us to repent. Repentance and forgiveness renew our peace of conscience. If we ignore our conscience, on the other hand, and do not repent, our conscience will be impaired as if it has been “seared with a hot iron.” However, the first fundamental criticism of the good conscience—the denunciation of the beautiful soul and of the ineffectual attitudes—we own to Hegel, for whom the ideology of the good, the true, and the beautiful is the religion of those possessed of none of them. While the mere existence of factions surprises Saint-Just and contravenes the ideal order that he affirms, Hegel not only is surprised, but even affirms that faction is the prelude to thought. For the Jacobin, everyone is virtuous. The movement which starts with Hegel, and which is triumphant today, presumes, on the contrary, that no one is virtuous, but that everyone will be. #RandolphHarris 1 of 29

At the beginning, everything, according to Saint-Just, is an idyl; according to Hegel, everything is a tragedy. However, in the end that amounts to the same thing. Those who destroy the idyl must be destroyed or destruction must be embarked on to create the idyl. Violence, in both cases, is the victor. The repudiation of the Terror, undertaken by Hegel, only leads to an extension of the Terror. That is not all. Apparently, the world today can no longer be anything other than a world of masters and slaves because contemporary ideologies, those that are changing the face of the earth, have learned from Hegel to conceive of history in terms of the dialectic of master and slave. If, on the first morning of the world, under the empty sky, there is only a master and a slave; even if there is only the bond of master and slave between a transcendent god and mankind, then there can be no other law in this world than the law of force. Only a god, or a principle above the master and the slave, could intervene and make men’s history something more than a mere chronicle of their victories and defeats. First Hegel and then the Hegelians have tried on the contrary, to destroy, more and more thoroughly, all idea of transcendence and any nostalgia for transcendence. Although there was infinitely more in Hegel than in the left-wing Hegelians who finally have triumphed over him, he nevertheless furnished, on the level of the dialectic of master and slave, the decisive justification of the spirit of power in the twenty-first century. #RandolphHarris 2 of 29

The conqueror is always right; that is one of the lessons which can be learned from the most important German philosophical system of the nineteenth century. Of course, there is to be found, in the prodigious Hegelian edifice, a means of partially contradicting those ideas. However, twenty-first century ideology is not connected with what is improperly called the idealism of the master of Jena. Hegel’s face, which reappears in Russian Communism, has been successively remolded by David Strauss, Bruno Bauer, Feuerbach, Marx, and the entire Hegelian left wing. We are only interested in him here because he alone has any real bearing on the history of our time. If Nietzsche and Hegel serve as alibis to the masters of Dachau and Karaganda, that does not condemn their entire philosophy. However, it does lead to the suspicion that one aspect of their thought, or of their logic, can lead to these appalling conclusions. Nietzschean nihilism is methodical. The Phenomenology of the Mind also has a didactic aspect. At the meeting-point of two centuries, it depicts, in its successive stages, the education of the mind as it pursues its way toward absolute truth. It is a metaphysical Emile. Each stage is an error and is, moreover, accompanied by historic sanctions which are almost always fatal, either to the mind or to the civilization in which it is reflected. Hegel proposes to demonstrate the necessity of these painful stages. #RandolphHarris 3 of 29

The Phenomenology is, in one aspect, a meditation on despair and death. The mission of despair is, simply, to be methodical in that it must be transfigured, at the end of history, into absolute satisfaction and absolute wisdom. The book has the defect, however, of only imagining highly intelligent pupils and it has been taken literally, while, literally, it only wanted to proclaim the spirit. It is the same with the celebrated analysis of mastery and slavery. The course of evolution has made the intellectual stride of man a necessity but it has not made such utter imbalance as prevails today a necessity. The intellectual wondering, seeking, and questioning which make a man study or aspire, follow, or join, often attain a degree of some ardour. However, this does not prevent the same man from changing his mood and mind in later years. We humans dominate the earth planet, not by our physical strength but by our mental power. Through the many changes of experience in the many lifetimes on earth—and later elsewhere—the mind grows. It wants to move upward from mere curiosity to actual knowledge. It inquires if there be any purpose in life to be fulfilled—if there be a purpose. If there is a God, it demands to know, yet doubts the possibility of finding a sure answer. #RandolphHarris 4 of 29

However, if this increased knowledge and sharpended brains predominate over mystical experience and religious intuition, then disequilibrium is created. Truth appears only to the perfectly balanced mind, but to the disequilibrated one it appears materialized, perverted, or falsified. The medieval period was impelled by theological sources, and the modern period by scientific ones. The benefit of university education has reached a much higher percentage of people and in a much larger number than during any earlier century. Has world-thinking progressed enough consciously, deliberately, and honestly to set up the search for truth? The answer is that individual world-thinkers have done so but taken as a group humanity has not done so. The intellect is in process of being developed and its limitation must be accepted as such. The time spent in deploring that fact is time wasted. For the important thing is not that it is not the highest faculty in man, which is admitted, but that its development does not really oppose itself to the highest spiritual development, which is not often admitted. Although a person may be consumed by thinking of and chasing after prestige, and although in his mind he rises and falls with his prestige, this often is not clearly seen as a neurotic problem to be analyzed—either because it is such a common occurrence, or because it looks like a cultural pattern, or because the analyst himself is not free from this disease. #RandolphHarris 5 of 29

A disease it is, and devastating one at that, because it makes people opportunistic and, in this way, mars their integrity. Far from being close to normal, it is on the contrary indicative of a severe disturbance. Indeed, it occurs only in those who are so profoundly alienated from themselves that even their pride is largely invested outside of themselves. Neurotic pride furthermore rests on the attributes which a person arrogates to himself in his imagination, on all those belonging to his idealized image. Here the peculiar nature of neurotic pride comes into clear relief. The neurotic is not proud of the human being he is. Knowing his wrong perspective on himself, we are not surprised that his pride blots out difficulties and limitations. However, it goes further than this. Mostly he is not even proud of his existing assets. He may be but hazily aware of them; he may deny them. However, even if he is cognizant of them, they carry no weight for him. For instance, if the analyst calls to his attention his great capacity for work or the tenacity, he has demonstrated in making his way in life, or points out that—his difficulties notwithstanding—he did write a good book, the patient may literally or figuratively shrug his shoulders and pass over the praise lightly, with noticeable indifference. He especially has no appreciation for all that is “merely” striving and not accomplishment. He rather discards, for instance, the honest striving to get to the roots of his trouble, which he has shown in making one serious attempt after another to take up analysis or to analyze himself. #RandolphHarris 6 of 29

Actualization involves honestly being your feelings in both receiving communications and in sending them. It involves some risks, or at least perceived risks, to those of us who habitually distrust our feelings and how others will react to them. The rewards of honest communication of feelings are immense. Others will sense your realness, your integrity and honesty, and will be more willing to reciprocate in kind. The frequency of misunderstanding each other will be less. The amount of mental and emotional energy you expend in relationships with others will also be lightened. That drained, tried feeling that comes from manipulation will dissipate. A solid principle of actualization is that a healthy relationship does not always have to be an agreeing relationship. Some of our most productive family, social, and work relationships exist because we accept the fact that different people have different points of view and feelings about things, and that we respect those differences. Often in life, we make the erroneous assumption that to have harmony, we must also have agreement. An actualizers is an appreciater of differences. An actualizers who honestly feels is particularly aware of the danger of pretense. The actualizer does not pretend to care when he or she does not, or pretends not to care when he or she does. The actualizer avoids such stock phrases as “I give up,” “You win,” and “I have had it.” Instead, the actualizer honestly expresses dislikes, wants, and hopes, believing that directness is the means whereby love is maintained and strengthened. #RandolphHarris 7 of 29

Honestly recognizing and living with your feelings crack the wall that manipulation has built between you and others. Although some social critics recognize that the search for happiness and personal fulfillment, for the pleasure of a life that has meaning, sooner or later leads to marriage, they contend that marriage will remain the fundamental building block of society, spontaneously chosen as a way of life by most men and women, but the martial commitment will not longer include sexual exclusivity. They argue that the concept of fidelity is outmoded and must yield to a flexible arrangement which permits both husband and wife to engage in extramarital pleasures of the flesh. More radical proposals call for this freedom to include not just the traditional heterosexual affair, but the full range of male-female combinations, including casual encounters, domestic trios, mate exchanges, group marriage, plus acceptance of bisexual relationships within these varying arrangements. This kind of conjecturing, which totally repudiates the establish principles of sexual commitment, owes less to disciplined observation of what most people require to live sexually effective lives than it owes to wishful fantasies about how they ought to live. #RandolphHarris 8 of 29

When such ideas are imaginatively conceived, as they were in novels like The Harrad Experiment and Stranger in a Strange Land, in addition to being enjoyable escapist reading, they may even succeed in shaking up a reader’s preconceived notions. Of course, they may also create apprehension in thoughtful readers who do not find the concepts abhorrent but do find them inconsistent with other cherished and reliable values. These writers, and numerous nonfiction authors as well, place the pleasures of pleasures of the flesh entirely in the service of self-gratification, with perhaps a moment’s polite attention to a partner’s request for release in one fashion or other. They reject the idea that pleasures of the flesh might have something to do with such considerations as privacy, discretion, or esthetic sensibility. And what they consider to be emancipation from Victorian prudery more closely resembles exhibitionism, on a level not much different from that of adolescents who enjoy “mooning”—dropping their pants and baring their buttocks to discomfort some unsuspecting stranger. Small wonder, then, that they consider the bond of a commitment involving pleasures of the flesh between a man and woman to be as antiquated as a chastity belt. In the 1970s, married couples were still depicted, in such television programs as Thriller (1973 British TV Show Season 1, Episode 1 “Lady Killer,” and Season 1 Episode 7, “A Place to Die”), to sleep in twin beds in the same room. Now, we have women mooning live audiences, on television, as they manipulate their buttocks to move like the waves of the ocean (also known as a “cheek tsunami”). #RandolphHarris 9 of 29

They are free, and should remain so, of course, to behave according to whatever standards they choose and to believe in whatever rationalization they may need to justify that behavior. The problem lies in the fact that when a few individuals with a professional background—including such sensitive fields as psychiatry, psychology, and the ministry—act out their erotic fantasies and write about their experiences, they are passing along advice which implicitly urges the reader to “go and do thou likewise.” This mounts to irresponsibility encouraging people to jump into a deep river with dangerous undercurrents, ignoring the fact that they may not know how to swim. And as an adult, this is often seen as “dangerous.” How can there by anything for anyone to be afraid of, either the one from whom love flows or the receivers? Spread it around like that, why should there be fear? Well, our moral collapse is appalling, but surprisingly, many attempt to justify it. Because of promiscuity, the dreaded social diseases have reached the epidemic stage. One health official said that they have surpassed epidemic proportions, and he called the condition a plague. So many were so concerned about COVID-19 and wearing a mask and getting vaccines, but these social diseases now affect more people than any communicable disease except the common cold. #RandolphHarris 10 of 29

In one of our best-known western city’s health officials report that on any given day, around one in five people have a sexually transmitted infection (STI), also known as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and venereal disease (VD). In 2024, there were more than 2.6 million STIs reported. Young adults from ages 20 to 34 have the highest rates of infection. However, a recent analysis found that patients over the age of 60 account for the biggest increase of in-office treatments for STIs. It is almost unbelievable. Experts claims that easy abortion has now removed the stigma from immorality, making free pleasures of the flesh even freer still. While millions accept promiscuity as a new way of life and excuse adultery even though it wrecks marriages and breaks up homes, at the same time, we make it illegal to offer a prayer in some of our public places. While we teach pleasures of the flesh in schools and publicly portray the vilest of filth on the movie screen, we virtually make a criminal of a schoolteacher who would bring a Christian Bible into the classroom or who might as the students to recite the Lord’s Prayer. So far have we lost our sense of values! Some Americans protest reference to the Almighty to the flag, while others would eliminate “God” from the Declaration of Independence. Are we caught in a tidal wave of atheism and its accompanying corruption? Are we any better than the civilization which preceded us here and which were swept away because of iniquity? #RandolphHarris 11 of 29

Those civilizations were taught a stern lesson pertaining to their occupancy of this hemisphere. They were told that this is a land of special significance to the Almighty and that only those nations which serve God remain here. If we ourselves are to survive, we of today must heed this warning. “And he had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them,” reports Ether 2.8. We are bluntly told that whatever nations occupy this land must serve God or die! The great men of modern America have given us similar warnings, peculiarly enough. Roger Babson said: “Only religion can prevent democratic rule from developing into mob rule. A nasion can prosper only as its citizens are religious, intelligent, capable of service and eager to render it. Every great panic we have ever had has been foreshadowed by a general decline in observance of religious principles.” President Abraham Lincoln told the people of his day that America “need fear no danger from without…If danger were ever to threaten the United States of America, it would come from within. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power…But we have forgotten God. It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.” #RandolphHarris 12 of 29

God has revealed that in the last days, He would warn the people through the voice of tempests, earthquakes, and seas heaving themselves beyond their bounds. Do we hear His voice now and recognize it? The May 2025 Missouri Tornado caused $1 billion in property damage. As the devastation of Los Angeles wildfires have reached an estimated $300 billion in damages, with death and loss of habitat, do we hear in this the voice of God as a fair warning to the rest of us? “Therefore, repent ye, and humble yourselves before Him, lest He shall come out in justice against you,” reports Mormon 5.22-24. Religion is concerned with life itself, with ways to love that are the most viable. The question is, “What are the experiential and objective signs of being most fully alive?” How can persons tell when their actions, their lifestyles, their relationships with other people, their diets, are conducive to life itself, and when they diminish life? Sensitive somatic perception clearly is essential to discern when one’s way of life is enlivening. To experience one’s appetites keenly, to enjoy one’s senses, to feel emotion, to breathe deeply, to sleep well, to eliminate adequately—all these vital signs may show a person that his or her lifestyle is good. The experience of zest, vitality, and rich meaning in life are further manifestations of enlivenment. #RandolphHarris 13 of 29

There is still considerable debate as to whether winners are winners because they have winning scripts, or because they have permission to be autonomous. However, there is little doubt that losers are following the bad programing of their parents, the media, their friends, and the urgings of their own inner demons. Tragic scripts may be either noble or ignoble. The noble ones are a source of inspiration and of noble dramas. The ignorable ones repeat the same old scenes and the same old plots with the same drab cast, set in the dreary “catchment areas” which society conveniently supplies as depots where losers can collect their payoffs: saloons, pawnshops, brothels, courtrooms, prisons, state hospitals, and morgues. Because of the stereotyped outcomes, it is easy to see the scripty elements in such life courses. Thus, books on psychiatry and criminology which give numerous and extensive case histories are excellent sources for studying scripts. A bad script is laid on the child by the Fascist Sneer, and he clings to it on the principle of the Nostalgic Prisoner. The Fascist Sneer is as old as history, and works as follows. The people are told that the enemy king or leader is filthy, incoherent, debased, and brutish, more animal than human. When he is captured, he is put in a cage with a few rags, no toilet facilities, and no eating utensils. After a week or so, he is exhibited to the people, and sure enough, he is filthy, incoherent, debased, and brutish, and gets more and more so as time goes on. Then the conquerors smile and say: “I told you so.” #RandolphHarris 14 of 29

Children are essentially captives of their parents, and can be reduced to any state the parents’ desire. For example, a girl is told that she is a hysterical, self-pitying crybaby. The parents know her weak spot and can torment her in front of visitors until she finds it intolerable and is reduced to tears. Since this is labeled “self-pity,” she tries hard not to cry, and so when she does give way, it is like an explosion. Then the parents can say: “What a hysterical reaction! Every time we have visitors, she does that. What a crybaby,” et cetera. The key question of script analysis research is: “How would you raise a child so that when she grew up, she would react the way this patient does?” In answering this question, the script analyst more and more frequently can describe the patient’s upbrining accurately before he is told about it. Many people who have spent long years in prison find the outside world cold, difficult, and frightening, and commit an offense to be sent back to prison. It may be miserable, but it is familiar, they know the rules to keep out of serious trouble, and there are old friends there. In the same way, when a patient attempts to break out of his script cage, he finds it cold “out there,” and since he no longer plays the old games, he loses his old friends and must make new ones, which is often scary. Therefore, he slides back into his old ways, like a Nostalgic Prisoner. All this may make the script and its effects a little more understandable. #RandolphHarris 15 of 29

Throughout history, the threat of fire has served as an impetus for communities to establish building codes. Although the first building codes, which were developed in ancient Egypt, focused on preventing building collapse, building codes were quickly recognizes as an effective means of preventing, limiting, and containing fires. Colonial communities had few building codes. The first settlers had a difficult time erecting even primitive shelters, which often were constructed of wood with straw-thatched roofs. The fireplaces used for cooking and heating may have had chimneys constructed of smaller logs. The all-wood construction and use of open fires meant that fires were a constant threat to early settlers in America. As communities developed, they enacted codes restricting the hours during which open fires were permitted and the materials that could be used for roofs and chimneys. In 1678, Boston requires that “tyle” or slate be used for all roofs. After British forces burned Washington D.C., in 1814, (during the War of 1812), codes prohibited the building of wooden houses in the area. Some building codes required the construction of a fire-resistive wall, or firewall, of brick or mortar between two buildings. Today’s building codes not only govern construction materials but also frequently require built-in fire prevention and safety measures. #RandolphHarris 16 of 29

Fire fighter training and education have come a long way over the years. The first fighters simply needed sufficient muscular strength and endurance to pass buckets or operate a hand pumper. Today, fire fighters require formalized training, attentions to safety, and good judgment. Fire fighters operate costly high-tech equipment, including million-dollar apparatus, radios, thermal imaging devices (high-tech devices that use infrared technology to find object giving off a heat signature), and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) (air pack used by a fire fighter to enter a hazardous atmosphere). Ethos is defined as the disposition, character, or fundamental values peculiar to a specific person, people, culture, or movement. The Warrior Ethos, the professional attitudes and beliefs that characterize the award-winning Sacramento Fire Department, reflects our nation’s enduring values by the profession charged with protecting those values. The Warrior Ethos is the foundation for the Sacramento Fire Department’s total commitment to victory in peace and war. At the core of every firefighter, paramedic, EMT is the willingness and desire to serve the nation—both its people and its enduring values. Those with the Sacramento Fire Department who live the Warrior Ethos put the mission first, refuse to accept defeat, never quit, and never leave a fallen crew member. They have absolute faith in themselves and in their team because they have common beliefs and values. #RandolphHarris 17 of 29

The seven Sacramento Fire Department Values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage enable them to see what is right or wrong in any situation. When you encounter a situation that requires you to decide, you should apply the Sacramento Fire Department’s Values. If any one term in not applied, the decision will be flawed. As you see, the Sacramento Fire Department’s Values and the Warrior Ethos are integral parts of a unified system of beliefs—as with the firefighters, EMT, and paramedics who follow them, they depend on each other. The Sacramento Fire Department’s Creed ties this system together. “I love the job, I really love it. So does everybody in the service. In this day and age, you don’t get to do many things that help people out. It’s the most gratifying feeling that I know of. I believe it comes from my parents. My father has been helping people for a long time. He’s seventy-seven years old, and he still works six day a week. He’s still self-employed as a mechanic. He doesn’t need the money, he does it to do people favors. He keeps the shop open because he feels there’s a need for his services. It’s the motivation that keeps him going. I believe that I inherited that, to a certain degree, from him.” When we help bring the Lord’s healing blessings to those suffering from physical, mental, and spiritual sickness, we practice the healer’s art. #RandolphHarris 18 of 29

If you see a fire truck stopped in the street without the lights on, be very careful. Sometimes there is an emergency situation and you should not pass the fire truck. It might be a good idea to safely turn around and go another way. #RandolphHarris 19 of 29

In fact, Governor Gavin Newsom of Democratic controlled California, brags about being the world’s “fifth largest economy,” but it also facing a $12 billion deficit, looking to cut $747 million for state worker’s pay, pushing to keep medical insurance for illegal immigrants, and has the largest homeless population in the nation. #RandolphHarris 20 of 29

#RandolphHarris 21 of 29

#RandolphHarris 22 of 29

Additionally, with inflation rates at an all-time high, American being in an unofficial recession for about a decade, all insurance in California is becoming unaffordable. State Farm has received an approval for an emergency rate increase, which was approved by the California Insurance Commissioner, to stabilize the market and protect policyholders. Starting 1 June 2025, homeowners will see an average of 17 percent increase, rental dwellings will see an increase of 38 percent, and Condo owners will see a rate increase of 15 percents. These rate increases are due to the distressed caused by the recent wildfires, which accumulated over $7 billion in claims. Furthermore, in 2022, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 1107, also known as the Protection California Drivers Act, into law which increases the minimum auto lability limits for bodily injury to $30,000 per person and $60,000 per accident. Senate Bill 1107 also increased the minimum liability limits for property damage to $15,000 per accident and the DMV deposit for uninsured drivers to $75,000. The bill went into effect on January 1, 2025. This means that drivers with existing policies with lower limits will renew at the new minimum limits on or after January 1, 2025, and insurance premiums could increase by as much as 54 percent. America is in a state of crisis right now because of mismanagement by democrats. With the median household income in Sacramento County being $88,724 and a 4-bedroom 2.5-bathroom Cresleigh home costing $798,059, how are people able to afford homes? Because an $800,000 home with a one percent downpayment of $8,000, 30-year fixed loan at 4.176 percent interest comes with a monthly mortgage payment of $4,241. #RandolphHarris 24 of 29

#RandolphHarris 25 of 29

In fact, Mexico has been causing one of America’s worst environmental disasters. Fifty million gallon a day of industrial chemicals, untreated sewage, and trash flow from Tijuana, Mexico, into southern San Diego County daily. He has criminalized poverty, increased taxes and insurance rates so high that people are struggling to survive and has given billions of taxpayer dollars away to illegal immigrants and protected them from law enforcement, while arresting law abiding Americans because they cannot afford to pay rent or mortgage and the homeless shelters are unsafe, overcrowded and have restrictions on who is allowed inside. Wars have been started over governments who tax citizens without representation. Taxation without representation is what led to the American Revolution. If Gavin Newsom is not stopped, next he will euthanize the poor and sterilize the disabled. This monster is unfit to be governor and must never be allowed to be President of America! Stop Gavin Newsom now! Save California and impeach this unreasonable man. #RandolphHarris 26 of 29

Meanwhile, with President Trump, we are seeing crime rates sharply decrease, and he recently secured $10 trillion in investments. #RandolphHarris 26 of 29

Furthermore, American companies and manufacturers are held to much higher standards in regard to pollution. American companies have to be more careful about air, land, and water pollution and have proper ways to dispose of waste. #RandolphHarris 28 of 29

“Oh, thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand between their loved home and the war’s desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n-rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, and this be our motto: ‘In God is our trust.’ And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” #RandolphHarris 29 of 29

The average income in Sacramento, California in 1990 was approximately $28,000 annually (2025 inflation adjusted $70,000). A large two-story home with an expansive backyard cost $169,000 (2025 inflation adjusted $417,000) back then. Houses became more affordable in 1996-1999 due to a recession. You may have noticed the prices decreased by an average of $20,000 (2025 inflation adjusted $40,154).

People forget that since 1990, wages have also gradually increased, and most households have two working adults. Sometimes both adults have college degrees, which makes homes more affordable, but even in some cases, one adult with a college degree and a minimum wage employee can qualify to buy a home.

The average home price in Sacramento in 1990 was $195,000 (2025 inflation adjusted $480,000). So, the recession of the late 1990s helped a lot of people who would not normally qualify for a house become homeowners.

The up to $40,000 Cresleigh Homes is offering as an incentive can work the same way and help you to qualify for a home you did not know you could afford. Do not be afraid of the sticker price, please speak to a representative today! https://cresleigh.com/contact-us/

Housing is High, Food is Expensive and People getting Rich on Blood Money

A paranoid is someone who knows little of what is going on. Despite the fact that young people have experimented with cigarettes, alcohol, and other dangerous drugs for many generations, it would be better that they did not. All recreational drug use is associated with at least some risks, and those who begin using drugs earlier are also more likely to use dangerous drugs later. The most commonly used of the depressants is alcohol, a colorless liquid, produced by the fermentation of sugar or starch, that is the intoxicating agent in fermented drinks. Alcohol is the oldest and most widely used drug of abuse in the World. Alcohol use is highly costly to societies because so many people abuse alcohol and because judgment after drinking can be substantially impaired. It is estimated that 50 percent of automobile fatalities are caused by alcohol use, and excessive alcohol consumption is involved in a majority of violent crimes, including unwanted physical sexual activity and murder. Alcohol increases the likelihood that people will respond aggressively to provocations. Even people who are not normally aggressive may react with aggression when they are intoxicated. Alcohol use also leads to rioting, unprotected sex, and other negative outcomes. #RandolphHarris 1 of 10

A single deed of violence and cruelty affects our nerves more than when these are exercised on a more extended scale. Alcohol increases aggression in part because it reduces the ability of the person who has consumed it to inhibit his or her aggression. When people are intoxicated, they become more self-focused and less aware of the social situation. As a result, they become less likely to notice the social constraints that normally prevent them from engaging aggressively, and are less likely to use those social constraints to guide them. Cannabis (marijuana) is the most widely used hallucinogen. Until it was banned in the United States of American under the Marijuana Tax Act of 1938, it was widely used for medical purposes. In recent years, cannabis has again been frequently prescribed for the treatment of pain and nausea, particularly for cancer sufferers, as well as for a wide variety of other physical and psychological disorders. While medical marijuana is now legal in several American states, it is still banned under federal law, putting those states in conflict with the federal government, Marijuana also acts as a stimulant producing giggling, laughing, and mild intoxication. It acts to enhance perception of sights, sounds, smells, and many produce the sensation of slowing down. #RandolphHarris 2 of 10

Because drug and alcohol abuse is a behavior that has such negative consequences for so many people, researchers have tried to understand what leads people to use drugs. Individual ambitions, expectations, and values influence drug use. College students who expressed optimistic academic values and strong ambitions have less alcohol consumption and alcohol-related problems, and cigarette smoke has declined more among youth from wealthier and more educated homes than among those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Drug use is in part the result of socialization. Children try drugs when their friends convince them to do it, and these decisions are based on social norms about the risks and benefits of various drugs. The use of marijuana among 12th-graders (high school seniors, generally 16-18 years of age) rose to 39 percent. And students binge drink in part when they see that many other people around them also binging. That is why stores used to always provide bags for people who bought liquor, so kids would not see it and become curious about drinking alcohol. The longer an addiction lasts, the more stress and strain it puts on the individual. #RandolphHarris 3 of 10

There are a number of long-term physical and emotional effects of addiction that can easily turn a healthy man or woman into a frail shadow of their former self. The human kidney can be damaged by habitual drug use over a period of many years. Kidney failure is not uncommon among long-time users of crystal meth, heroin, and other dangerous drugs. Liver failure is a well-known consequence of alcoholism, but it can also occur with individuals using Vicodin, and OxyContin habitually over many years. Cocaine abusers and stimulant users are doing significant damage to their heart each time they use the drug. The most common conditions among addicted individuals are heart disease and heart failure. The lungs of any individual who is putting drugs they are addicted into their lungs is putting their lungs in jeopardy. Smoking crack cocaine or crystal meth damages the lungs, and so does smoking marijuana. Also, long-term drug abusers will begin to build a tolerance to drugs. Tolerance is dangerous as it causes the individual to use more and more of the drug in order to achieve the desired euphoric or stimulated states, which puts the individual at a constant risk for overdose and even death. Much of these drugs are coming from the Middle East and Mexico. #RandolphHarris 4 of 10

Nothing bears so many stains of blood as gold. In Oakland, California USA so many people have built up a tolerance to drugs that they are looking for an even more potent drug to get a high from. Producers have started mixing cocaine and heroin together and they call it a “Belushi” or “Paris Hilton.” And if people overdose from the drugs you are selling, it actually makes you more popular because people are looking to overcome their tolerance. They live to get high. Because of this desire to get high, foreign drug cartels are operating in Northern California and wreaking havoc on the environment and producing marijuana tainted with toxic chemicals. Drugs are not cool. Because of the gun violence between drug dealers, people are afraid to visit the city of Oakland, California. There are so many drug related murders that no one can keep track. Homicide is the number one killer of African American men 15-34. In 2016, there were 88 homicides in Oakland. And 32 homicides as of late June 2017. The forensic anthropologist in the morgues are saying that gun violence is getting more serious, too. Instead of seeing people with one fatal gunshot, they are now coming into morgue in bullet proof vests with 12 bullets in one body, and usually end up with several people from the same gang in the morgue in the same night. These people have military style weapons. #RandolphHarris 5 of 10

Violence is a symptom of an unhealthy community. In Oakland’s drug wars, fire as well as firepower is a weapon. The Oakland fire department attributes more than 180 cases of arson to warfare between drug gangs and reprisals against slow-paying customers or residents who complained publicly about the city’s wide-open commerce in crack, a cheaper, potent form of cocaine. In Oakland, California, drugs are sold on more than 150 street corners. When people cannot pay their drug debts, and the dealer cannot find you, they will go after your next of kin. A woman who owed $50.00 to a crack dealer was dragged from her house, and thrown into the trunk of a car. After breaking one of her legs and the bones in one hand with a baseball bat, detectives report the attackers poured gasoline over her and set her on fire. With those cost of living so high in Oakland, California scientists are saying this is contributing to continuing violent crimes in parts of the city. There is a 19 percent unemployment rate in these communities, and the economy is not lifting the poor up. There is a large group of people living below the poverty line. The average household income in East Oakland is $47,318.50 and the citywide average is $80,758.00. #RandolphHarris 6 of 10
Is there such depravity in humans as that one should injure another without benefit to oneself? The lack of education, jobs, drugs, and no affordable housing is leading to the increase in violence and crime. And that is why so many people have turned to drugs and drug dealing. People who are abusing drugs feel hopeless and depressed and they have tried to succeed, but have not been able to because they come from an unstable home, live in a violent community, do not have the resources to go to school, or suffer from a cognitive disability. So, they hustle and turn to drugs to get by and forget about life and to feel good. On the other hand, people find drug dealing lucrative and can make $50,000.00 in one weekend, so they do not want to work for $12.00 an hour when they are making more than a doctor does. However, it is very dangerous because it creates super predators. You now have cartels and drug dealers praying on other drug dealers. In places like Oakland Hills, where my father came from, people have a college degree and average household incomes of $188,000.00. However, because there is so much profit being made in the flatlands by dealers, you have to solve this problem with the youth by encouraging them to stay in school and just say no to drugs and drinking. #RandolphHarris 7 of 10

There are no devils but those which are begotten upon selfishness and reared by cunning. The bloody drug warfare has caused people in Oakland to promote this urban comeback and improve its reputation. However, just feet away from these revitalized neighborhoods, crack and other drugs can be bought in board daylight just about anywhere. The killings and the sound of gunfire are now a constant in the life of many people who live in Oakland. People are getting rich on the blood money and ruining the lives of men, women, children, animals and the environment. Bears, deer, mountain lions, and rivers are being poisoned by the marijuana grows and many of them are drying. Also, in Oakland, California, there are ten-year old kids with guns in their underwear drawers. People fear that with the rising rent in Sacramento, lack of affordable housing, increase of breweries, and all the legal marijuana for recreational use that Sacramento, California will face the same fate as Oakland, California. Housing is high, food is expensive, and gas is outrageous. People use drugs, legal and illegal, because their lives are intolerably painful or dull. They hate their work and find no rest in their leisure. They are estranged from their families and their neighbors. #RandolphHarris 8 of 10

Aging alone causes people to lose brain cells and mental processing speed, but there are several other causes that you have more control over. There are some adults who seems to be dumber than tar, but they are still working and the work they produce is awful, and yet they continue to still be employed. When these adults, who did drugs in their youth and have clearly lost their cognitive abilities, are hired on as partners or major parts of the firm, the level of productivity and quality of work seriously declines, and many people sit around wondering why these individuals are still employed, why do they not retire? While we cannot recognize a change in brain speed, many people do know that something has changed with their thinking. And if you sense that you are not as smart or quick as you used to be, you know it is an uncomfortable feeling. Some refer to it as “brain fog,” because they know that they used to feel smarter but the thoughts are just not coming together as quickly. What is happening is that when brain processing seed declines, you are literally thinking slower and remembering less. New information that you are presented with is not as easy to understand, and older memories are harder to recall. At the same time, a decline in brain chemical production causes brain cell death. #RandolphHarris 9 of 10

People who seem to enjoy their ill temper have a way of keeping it in fine condition by inflicting privations on themselves. Fewer neurons mean an additional decrease in the capacity to retain information. What is more, not only does an aging brain sometimes think slower, but drug use will also accelerate the deterioration of your brain. There is a separation between thinking and then doing. You know that you have things you need to do but you cannot quite figure out how to get them done, or you forget to take care of them. Once you experience these problems repeatedly, you need to start rebalancing your brain. Aging is the number one cause of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). As you get older, your brain develops chemical imbalances. If you do not act to fix them, you are actually leaving your brain and your body open to get sicker. Any type of addiction, including to alcohol, streets drugs (marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth, heroin, Ecstasy, nexus, ketamine, crack, hallucinogens), overeating, gambling, or even excessive shopping can cause an imbalance. One that is shipped with the devil must sail with the devil. However, mutual toleration and forbearance, in our sentiments, with regard to the legality, or expedience of measures, is the soul of democracy. Consistent, sincere prayer helps us to grow spiritually, shape our character, and strengthen our love for our Father in Heaven. Prayer is among the most valuable gifts we receive as spirit children of a loving Heavenly Father. #RandolphHarris 10 of 10

Those who do Not Remember the Past are Condemned to Repeat it
Rituals are part of everyday life. They both constitute and celebrate defining group characteristics. Human beings require a rational soul that is immaterial, hence indivisible, hence immortal. The fundamental right to punish belongs to society. Society, alone, and not the individual, can mete out that amount of evil that is necessary to preserve the well-being of humanity, and can oppose the criminal impulse with a moral counterimpulse. Society develops through the synthesis of national character (tradition) with stimulation—spontaneous, free, and renewing—according to a law of convenience, with all parts of the nation tending toward an equilibrium of force and utility through the balance of interests and powers. This dialectic of civilization is a work of art, even the highest work of art of a humanity striving for perfection. Most things will be okay eventually, but not everything will be. Sometimes you will put up a good fight and lose. Sometimes you will hold on really hard and realize there is no choice, but to let go. Acceptance is a small quiet room. The decline of spiritual values is due to internal degeneration or disintegration within the person and the society, and only seldom to external pressure. #RandolphHarris 1 of 9
Advertisers, politicians, educators, religious organizations, and others actively seek to alter attitudes and opinions. To an extent, their persuasive efforts resemble brainwashing, but there is an important difference: Brainwashing, or forced attitude change, requires a captive audience. If you are offended by a TV commercial, you can just tune it out. Prisoners in the POW (prisoner of war) camps in Korea (and later Vietnam) were completely at the mercy of their captors. Complete control over the environment allows a degree of psychological manipulation that would be impossible in a normal setting. How does captivity facilitate persuasion? The target person is isolated from other people who would support his or her attitude; the target is made completely dependent on his or her captors for satisfaction of basic needs; and the indoctrinating agent is in a position to reward the target for changes in attitudes or behavior. Brainwashing beings with attempts to make the target person feel completely helpless. Physical and psychological abuse, lack of sleep, humiliation, and isolation serve to unfreeze, or loosen, former values and beliefs. The benefits of rituals have been well documented. #RandolphHarris 2 of 9
When exhaustion, pressure, and fear become unbearable, change occurs as the person abandons former beliefs. Typically, prisoners who reach the breaking point sign a false confession or cooperate to gain relief. When they do, they are suddenly rewarded with praise, privileges, food, or rest. Continued pairing of hope and fear with additional pressures to conform then serves to refreeze (solidify) new attitudes. There have been cases where people are virtually held hostage in society, and if they attempt to go anywhere other than where they are allowed, someone will run into their car, try to run them over or assault the target person. Fearing injury, the person stays within the boundaries, where they are tracked and subjected to other forms of abuse. However, dramatic shifts in attitudes induced by brainwashing are usually temporary. In the United States of America, an estimated 2 to 5 million people have succumbed to the lure of cults. A cult is a group in which the leader’s personality is more important than the beliefs she or he preaches. Cult members give their allegiance to this person, who is regarded as infallible, and they follow his or her dictates without question. #RandolphHarris 3 of 9
Almost always, cult members are victimized by their leaders in one way or another. Recruiting new members, cults use a powerful blend of guilt, manipulation, isolation, deception, fear, and escalating commitment. In this respect, cults employ high-pressure indoctrination techniques similar to brainwashing. The cult can control the flow and interpretation of information individuals receive and there is a numbing effect of acceleration as autoamputation of the sense. The body as a sensing, experiencing, feeling, living totality has been autoamputated, an effect of fear spread throughout the World of an individual as a result of the power of destructiveness over all of life. The numbing of the body and emotions needs to be recognized and re-enlivening must occur. Some individuals lose themselves and overtime become automatons that look like human beings from the outside, but are hollow inside. Some people are recruited by cults, even in modern times, for human sacrifice, which is the act of killing one or more human beings, usually as an offering to a deity, as part of a ritual. #RandolphHarris 4 of 9
In times of emotional and financial chaos, rituals offer the comfort and hope of stability. Rituals facilitate continuity, provide a link between past and future. Human sacrifice has been practiced in various cultures throughout history. Victims were typically ritually killed in a manner that was supposed to please or appease gods, spirits, or the deceased. In a society which condemns human sacrifice, the term ritual murder is used. Isolation from non-cult members is used. Drills, discipline, and rituals (all-night meditation or continuous chanting, for instance) keep recruits continuously occupied. These rituals also wear down physical and emotional resistance and generate feelings of commitment. Many cults make cleaver use of their foot-in-the-door technique. At first, recruits make small commitments (to stay after a meeting, for example). Then, larger commitments are encouraged (to stay an extra day, to call in sick at work, and so forth). Why do people stay in cults? Most former members mention guilt and fear as the main reason for not leaving when they wished they could. Most have been reduced to child-like dependency on the group for meeting all their daily needs. #RandolphHarris 5 of 9
After they leave, many cult members suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, and emotional disturbances much like post-traumatic stress syndrome. Ritual killings are not that common in America, as they are in India. Because of blind superstitions and rampant illiteracy, a woman in India sacrificed a boy. Sumitra Bushan, in 2006, lived in Barha for most of her life, and at age 43, she thought she was cursed. Her husband left her, and she was deep in debt and was basically a slave. Her sons, Satbir, age 27, and Sanjay, age 23, were living a lifestyle of leisure. She and her family started having visions. And she was told by a travelling man that she must sacrifice a boy from her village. So they crept into their neighbour’s house and abducted three-year-old Aakash Singh, as he slept. They dragged him into their house and performed a puja ceremony, reciting a mantra and waving incense, and then they used a knife and mutilated him, and life him bleeding in from of an image of their goddess. This has been going on for centuries, as some people are still living in the dark ages. That same year, there were 28 human sacrifices in western Uttar Pradesh within four months. #RandolphHarris 6 of 9
Many people blame the turn to the occult on the increasing economic hardships, as people have debts spiraling out of control. Human sacrifices have also been happening along the U.S. Mexico border. An alleged member of a cult sacrificed, two 10-year-old boys and a 55-year-old woman to Santa Muerte, or Saint Death, a figure adored mostly by outlaws but whose popularity is growing across Mexico and among Hispanics in the United States of America. The throats and the wrists of the victims were cut with knives and axes and their blood was spread on a Santa Muerte altar. Their bodies where then buried near the shacks where the alleged cult members live. Cult members usually ask around to find the right person, and it usually only takes a week or so. There is an emphasis on virginity, and they do not believe in choosing victims based on outdated patriarchal belief, but rather on the basis of equality for all. These types of rituals are international, and not specific to either rural places or cities. They can happen anywhere, and there is usually some kind of symbolic evidence. #RandolphHarris 7 of 9
In many ritual killings, there is usually symbols carved into the body, symbols painted on the floor, the body might be positioned a certain way. And there is usually a significance of dates, like significant holidays specific to different ideologies. These people have usually crossed over to the dark side, which would be Satanism. When a person is held captive, forced attitude change (brainwashing) is possible. However, in most cases the effects or brainwashing are only temporary. When people join cult-like groups, more profound and lasting alterations of their belief systems are possible. A lot of people do not believe that ritual killings happen in America. People do this because they are true believers, ritual killings are required as part of their belief system, like a sacrifice that is required on a Blue Moon. Or they may feel they have to target a certain person. If it is a true criminal, they might be doing it because it satisfies other needs and they are using it as sort of an excuse. However, most of the time, they motivation is they think magically and they think it is going to give them power or protect them. They believe that ritual killings will give them more control over their life. #RandolphHarris 8 of 9
When poverty joins high levels of economic and social aspirations, the stage is set for criminal activities—particularly official corruption, ritual killings, robbery and dealing in illegal goods and services. People who are thwarted in attaining desired social and economic goals legally may seek to obtain them illegally. Psychologically, aggression is always a consequence of frustration while frustration leads to some form of aggression. Every day, police stations are inundated with reports of all manner of crimes involving fraudsters, missing persons many of whom end up in the hands of ritualists. Less than 10 percent of such missing persons return home. A scary percentage of them are not found and the bodies of negligible number that are eventually seen, are dumped either on the roadsides, bush paths or inside gutters, mutilated and their vital organs removed. Usually, victims are taken to the forests and butchered for money rituals. In countries like Nigeria, there are over 4,000 ritual killings a year, and not only civilians, but sometimes police personnel are victims. Sometimes even the rich engage in these practices to keep their wealth. #RandolphHarris 9 of 9
