Nothing is Surer [than] the Heart

Our hearts are often larger than our wills. There are those who like not to be detected in the possession of the heart. Can you feel pain and suffering? Most people can feel pain, so why is it that many like to hurt others instead of making them feel loved and accepted? When people are apparently being tortured others marvel at how well they endure the suffering, and to justify the inhuman behavior, some might convince themselves that other members of the human population are not human, or they do not have a soul, and because of that it is okay to abuse them. And if these beings are soulless, the abuser believes the creature does not deserve any consideration when it comes to how it is being treated. Many of us are but sorry hosts to ourselves. Some hearts are hermits.

Some people live lives that are not their choice and have to deal with unbelievable circumstances. And everyone they interact with, consistently, is not necessarily nice to them. They live isolated lives and are working hard to overcome their burdens. Some of these people who are striving to be successful have worked hard than many you know and they invest every dime of their saving into their business, without know if it will ever be successful. Every time they make a purchase for themselves, it kind of makes them depressed. You cannot always decide for yourself whether your own heart is cold or warm. So it is important to be loving, kind, considerate, and humble to everyone you meet.

Some people have goals that are independent of their culture, and as a result they may face shame; amusement; feelings of superiority, annoyance, ambition; and aims of self-preservation and increasing power. These people are capable of intelligence, goals, emotions, and pain. And they also care about other people and the environment. However, it seems no one cares about these extremely motivated people, even though they display enormous care, love, and loyalty towards others. When others are hurt, extremely motivated people are disturbed, shocked, and depressed by these maladaptive behaviors. The first mistaken impulse of an undisciplined heart.

However, when the tables are turned, and these highly motivated people are punched, strangled, and hit in the head no one seems to care, and this can trigger deep psychological reactions in the participants that makes them feel like they are toys, not human, or somehow less valuable. Extremely motivated people are highly evolved or have been very well educated. They think more deeply and deliberatively. Often times watching scary movies disturbs them because they care about the feelings of the people in the film, and think to themselves, “This could be real, look at how good the emotions are, they are better actors in this film, than most people are in real life.” Their brains react to stimuli the same way it would if the events were actually happening in front of them.

Yet, many people tend to keep these highly motivated people at somewhat of a distance, they hold back from them as if they are not human. As a result, they live in casual abandonment, and this makes them have excessive worry and fear; because of that no one ever really gets to know them. When they are hurt, the general public seems to display laughter and joy, not the horror of injury or death. It is as if people think, “We do not care about them so it is okay to hurt and kill them.” When these outsiders are on the edge and others think they may be contemplating suicide, groups of people are more likely to bait them or try to hurt them so they destroy themselves. Nonetheless, research indicates the people actually like the pictures of these non-human, fake people, more than real humans. Overall, these fake people are not disliked more than others, nor do they appear to be very realistic, but there is something about their genetic code that drives some people crazy.

Because of the way they are treated, these highly motivated people feel more anonymous, some wear sunglasses all the time, or tend to avoid large crowds. However, they are easier to kill, and it is easier for people to watch them being killed, but no one will march or put on demonstrations for them. Scientist say this is because they keep their faces partially covered and you do not see them often so you have no idea they are suffering. You cannot see their emotions and typically see no bruises nor broken bones, and they appear to be happy, so it does not register to others that these fake humans are being hurt and feel pain. These fake humans are not out in public hollering and screaming, nor do they fight with others.

So the question is, how do we make people care about these toy humans? Why should they be mistreated? Well, some think that if we push religion and more people learn to believe in God that it will foster more concern for people that are looked at as outsiders. Blessed are those who have regard for those who are delicate; the LORD delivers us in times of trouble. The LORD will protect you and preserve your life; God will bless you in the land, and not surrender you to the desire of your foes. The LORD will sustain you on your sickbed and restore you from your bed of infirmary. God knows the secrets of the heart. I do not know what heart means. I sometimes fancy that it is a talent for getting into debt, and running away with other men’s wives.

How have we become a nation of people who would sell the sunset if someone would put a price on it? It has been discovered that during infancy there is a very short period in which a stimulus is required to trigger our ability to feel emotions in later life. Many children orphaned at an early age are often found to have a complete lack of warmth toward others, even when their adoptive parents do all they possibly can to give them love. Such children respond with the indifference most often associated with psychopathy.

Education in a democratic society must equip children to develop their potential and to participate fully in American life. For the community at large, the schools have discharged this responsibility well. However, for many underprivileged children, the schools have fails to provide the educational experience which could overcome the effects of discrimination and deprivation. The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to think—rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves than to load memory with thoughts of others.

The function of school strikes at the heart of many as to how they are supposed to function as a socializing agent. What we are talking about is not just how students behave and think while they are in school, but what kinds of parents, employees, and citizens they will be when they become adults. This fight I far from trivial! We want to prevent children from attacking authority figures and from becoming like Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the alleged terrorist and ringleader in the Paris, France attacks.

Money can degrade all the gods of humans and convert them into commodities. In a popular newspaper questionnaire about the behavior of husbands, thousands of women reported that their spouses exhibited all the classic symptoms of the psychopath—they were violent and aggressive, deceitful, emotionally frozen, with a complete lack of any sense of remorse, or conscience. A later scientific study revealed that one in every six managers in the United Kingdom also met the diagnostic criteria for psychopathy!

The institution of politics and government affects our lives in many ways we cannot even begin to measure. Charity—helping one who is less fortunate than you—has traditionally been the responsibly of individuals and private groups. The basic functions of the political institution are to allocate power, to control the wealth and resources, and to protect the citizenry through military power and law. Government activity and control pervade more and more segments of our lives.

While government welfare and other public service organizations can sometimes o more thorough and wide spread job of helping the unfortunate, the spread of such organizations has several consequences. How can we keep individual freedom at the maximum levels and still make the government operate for the greatest good, for the greatest number?

The Canadian government is considering building special camps for Syrian refugees. A spokesman for the government in Ottawa confirmed that a tender notice has been issues for the construction of temporary winterized lodgings for groups of 500 to 3,000 people.

The inability to sense emotions in others, or to feel it ourselves, is a dysfunction that occurs in that center of anxiety and stress—the amygdala. In brain scans of those who apparently have no emotions, the amygdala shows little response when the subject is exposed to emotionally stressful information. It is thought that a successful bonding between mother and infant is a contributing factor to ensuring a normal functioning of this vital part of the limbic system.

Compassion arises as one develops the ability to step inside someone else’s emotional shoes. At such times, brain scans show the activity around the amygdala to be dampened, while the right-hand side of the brain literally lights up. Compassion and indifference are extremes, but they point to your own natural tendencies—of either having a strong emotional field, or one that is cooler and more detached. Remember there is no judgement involved. Both have their weaknesses and strengths.

There are heavy question to which we have no easy answers. However, regardless of the answers, few people would argue with the conclusions that government as a whole is playing a greater and greater role in the socialization of people around the World. A hallmark of totalitarian societies is that the people are apprehensive about being overheard or spied upon. The waking has one World in common; sleepers have each a private World of their own.

Hey, You Look Like Me!

When you are a member of an underrepresented group, it is always nice to have mentors, who look like you, act like you, are the same gender and the same ethnic background. In America, and especially Sacramento, California, Mulatto men (African American and European American) are truly represented. When I was student a Sac State, many teachers found it hard to profile me and thought I was sick because my skin was not as dark as they are used to seeing African American men, and some people will treat you like an outcast. I have African American friends, but they do not treat me like they treat their other black friends. Like, I do not get invited to their parties and clubs because I do not fit in. So I pretty much got over being included and became okay with being an individual. After all, the white people, my age, have done me far worse than the blacks. They let me know off the bat that they did not like me because they all ganged up on me and made fun of me and spread very nasty rumors, and took my resources and tried to get me in trouble and thought it was funny; that is totally fine.

What is done in the dark will always be seen in the light. Now, I know not to open myself up to others so easily. However, as I was watching the CBS Evening News tonight, and saw Maurice DuBois, who is an American television anchorman, for WCBS-TV in New York City, and the CBS network, was anchoring the World news desk tonight and that made me feel good. Not only is his skin the same color as mine, but his hair is the same texture and I know he has had to have had some of the same experiences as me. So in a way one feels like they are having a conversation with someone who can truly relate to them. Just seeing Mr. DuBois made my eyes light up and made me feel better as a person. You do not see many black men on TV, especially not Mulattos, and it is nice to be represented, as it gives you hope that people will get used to looking at you and other opportunities will open up for you.

Growing up, I never thought so much about skin color, ethnic background, or anything, we were all just a bunch of kids having fun. So to me, I was just like everyone else. However, as an adult, hearing people, who are also African America or European American, talking about your skin color because it is not as dark as they likely was a total culture shock to me. There are some benefit, like for the past four years, since I let my hair grown back, I get compliments on it almost daily–people love the natural reddish brown color and the waviness of my hair, and that is so nice. Another great thing is I am relatively tall, smart, good-looking and look younger than I am. However, no one should be made to feel differently or discriminated against. Today, being underrepresented usually means you are part of a group of people that comprises less than half of some population. Sociologist are very interested in these the status of underrepresented groups. However, when people use the term minority group, they are usually defining a category of people who are set apart for unequal treatment because of physical or cultural characteristics. While there are many kinds of minorities, including religions groups, people with disabilities and others, it is important that the term minority is not always about ethnic background. When individuals are discriminated against, this means that they are not just facing prejudice attitudes, they are facing actions from others who treat them unequally because of their group membership.

Discrimination may be personal, legal or institutional. Personal discrimination includes attacks on minority group members, from social slights (everyone in the office gets together and harasses you because you look different), and insults to murder. In legal discrimination, minority group members are denied lawful access to public institutions, jobs, housing, and social rewards. There is also another kind of discrimination, institutional discrimination, where people are treated unequally because of beliefs and actions that are embedded in social institutions. During the 1960s, largely due to the Civil Rights movement and government action, many forms of racial and ethnic discrimination declined in the United States. However, the pendulum appears to be shifting in the opposite direction. People seem to be in an uproar about ethnic background. However, I just want to make it clear, most of the European Americans that I make contact with, in person, are very nice and polite, as well as others. It is just when you are different and seen as competition, others in the field want to crush you before you get started. And I have to really give a shout out to my mentor, she is also a reporter and has done a great job. I do not want her to feel slighted, nor do I want to embarrass her by saying her name. The things I have learned from you, I will always be carrying with me. I know she understand what I am going through and has had many of the same experiences. Thank you.
