Love is Written in Mind and Heart

Love is teamwork and a haven from aloneness. Love has always mystified us. Love is joyous, and powerful. It can be physical, psychological, emotional or economic. To be someone out of the ordinary means to be successful, unique, and outstanding. When we feel loved there is a sense of enhancement in the quality of our lives. We tend to idealize beauty, intelligence, and skills more often. There is a rapture of compassion and altruism that accompanies growth of caring that absorbs increasing amounts of energy and time. When people feel like, they also experience a high gratification of several conscious and unconscious needs. Life becomes more blissful because people feel like they are in paradise. Love is written in our minds and heart. We are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of al people. Undoubtedly, freedom and eternal life are what we seek. We tremble at the very thought of dying and being captives of the adversary. There are many individualized forms of the pathology of love, which result in conscious good in our lives. “For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do (2 Nephi 25.23).”  #RandolphHarris 1 of 5

The realization of the presence of God makes us feel intelligence, power and unity.  Self-mastery is essential to invoke the power of God. This is because this great, divine agency can only be exercised in righteousness. Self-mastery requires self-determination and strength of character. It enhances our own gifts and talents in a remarkable way. It is the power of noble humanity. Life runs through all, threading itself into the patterns of our individuality. God is over all, in all, and through all. The spirit of God is the voice to humanity. All people may aspire to divinity, since all people are incarnations of God. Within the one supreme mind exists the possibility of projecting limitless expressions of itself, but each expression is unique and different from any other. Thus, the infinite is not divided, but multiplied. “I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving (Psalm 69.30).” There is nothing and nobody superior to God. And so the calling of those who love God is to make his greatness begin to look as great as it really is. “You are a chosen race, a royal people, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you make proclaim the excellencies of him that called you out of darkness into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2.9).” #RandolphHarris 2 of 5

The whole duty of our lives is to feel, think, and act in a way that will make God look as great as he really it. We must magnify the infinite starry wealth of the glory of God. There is one Father of all. This is the one Father, conceiving within himself, gives birth to all the divine ideas. The sum total of all these ideas constitutes the mystic God. As divinity is awakened, the divine spark shot from the central fires of the Universal flame warms other souls in the flow of its own self-realization. Our thoughts become spiritualized as it actually manifests the power of God. Throughout the ages wonderful results have been obtained through the prayer of faith, practiced by every religion. So, we pray that God opens the eyes of our hearts and preach to our souls, and that our souls forget not all of God’s benefits. We have the privilege of sustaining, with our uplifted hands and deep affection of God’s love. It is growth as a miracle and an incredible event. The truth of God will go forth boldly until it has penetrated every continent, visited every slime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, until the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and then Great God will report the work is done. #RandolphHarris 3 of 5

We have witnessed some phenomenal changes in the World, changes which we can attribute to the hands of the Almighty in bringing his glorious purposes to fill the Earth with the knowledge of the Lord. Organized intelligence can be accounted for only on the basis that there is an engineer as well as an engine. The laws of nature can be broken or modified through prayer or faith. The Universe is not only intelligent, but it is also consciousness. Once you establish freedom and volition as an operating factor in connection with the energy which becomes form, then you have established a Universe of consciousness. And once you establish a Universe of consciousness, you establish the possibility of communion, and arrive at a logical basis for faith, prayer, the religious and the mystical life. There has been a tremendous growth of knowledge which has taken place in the World in the last few hundred years. The Almighty raised up this nation by the power of his omnipotent hands, that it might be possible in the latter days for the kingdom of God to be established in the Earth. “Bless the Lord, oh my soul. Oh my God, you are very great, you are clothed with splendor and majesty (Psalm 104.1).” #RandolphHarris 4 of 5

These new, vital and dynamic spiritual concepts have placed firm foundations beneath the human being’s innate religious tendency, firm foundations which scientific people need not reject and which the which the unscientific individual may accept without superstition. “Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his loving-kindness is everlasting. Who can speak of the mighty deeds of the Lord, or can show forth all his praise (Psalm 106.1-2)?” In affirming consciousness in the Universe, a spiritual presence and an intelligence, also affirms that the individual’s consciousness is of similar nature. In the use of faith, prayer, communion, or spiritual treatment, one would be applying the principles of mind, spirit, intelligence, consciousness, and law and order to the persistent problems of everyday life. God’s hands have been over this nation, and it is his purpose and design to enlarge it, make it glorious, to the end that those who are kept in bondage and serfdom may be brought to the enjoyment of the fullest freedom and liberty of conscience possible for intelligent people to exercise in the Earth. Intelligence and reason must be the rules of thought, and God is accessible to all on equal terms. #RandolphHarris 5 of 5

Earth Fosters What Heaven Lets Fall

Earth fosters what Heaven lets fall. When the lightning of love has sprung into the hearts, know that there is love in that heart. Full knowledge lies in the act of love: this act transcends thought, it exceeds words. Love is overcoming human separateness, as the fulfillment of longing for the union. It is the polarity of the Earth and rain, of the river and the ocean, of night and day, of darkness and light, of matter and spirit. The clash of souls touches off the sparkles over the Winter Jasmine, we have been granted this privilege and begun to become so fresh. Psychological knowledge is a necessary condition for full knowledge in the act of love. We have to know ourselves and the other person objectively, in order to see their reality, or to overcome the illusions, the irrationally distorted image we have of them. Care, responsibility, respect, and knowledge are mutually independent. They are a syndrome of attitudes which are to be found in the mature person; that is, in the person who develops one’s own powers productively, who wants to have that which one has worked for, who only wants to have that which one has worked for, who had given up narcissistic dreams of omniscience, who has acquired humility based on the inner strength which only genuine productive activity can give.  #RandolphHarris 1 of 5

Common sense and science must be applied to religious and spiritual things as to everything else. When a person is weary, one loses their sense of pleasure and do not feel the enjoyment that one once felt. However, God says, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11.28-29).” Occasionally there is a time gap between the sacrifice and the blessings. The sacrifice may come according to our time schedule, but the blessing may not come by our, but by the Lord’s calendar. Still, the very first blessing coming from sacrifice is the joy that we can feel when we pay the price. Perhaps the very thought that the sacrifice itself could be a blessing becomes a sacred sign. When we have that kind of thought and feel the joy, we might have received a blessing already. True religion, true science, and true common sense should go hand in hand, together with that other subtle something which is the essence of feeling—that which is beyond words. God’s most striking victories arise out of the graves of apparent defeat. And the persistence and the fortitude that enable us to press on with cheerfulness through physical limitations and spiritual difficulties examples of things we can do through God. #RandolphHarris 2 of 5

It is impossible, indeed, to separate works from faith, just as it is impossible to separate heat and light from fire. When love of God waxes in thy heart, beyond any doubt, God has love for you. Divine wisdom is destiny and decree sacredly sweet and makes life fraught with nectar and honey. The blessings will surely come to us. Please remember that sacrifice itself might be a form of blessing because we are laying the foundation for our futures through tireless work and learning the knowledge that will grant of the opportunity to receive and unexpected surprise. “Worship God in whatsoever place you may be in, in spirit and in truth; and have thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he does bestow upon you (Alma 35.38).” God is an inexhaustible fountain of being bringing existence to all the things that are by his continuous overflow. Life cannot produce death, the Universe holds nothing against us, and the gift of Heaven is eternally made, but still must be received. Science is helping us to receive this gift by allowing human beings to produce technology and perform miracles. Miracles are worked only by God and his specially deputed agents. All the comforts and the good that have come to modern life through science are not contradictions of nature, but rather they are affirmations of the limitless resource of life. #RandolphHarris 3 of 5

The unequivocal definition of a miracle is things which are done by divine agency beyond the order commonly observed in nature (praeter ordinem communiter observatum in rebus). The interposition of divine power by which the operations of the ordinary course of nature are overruled, suspended, or modified. The very fact that trees can grown thousands of feet in their air is an affirmation that the Universe itself does not limit the growth of any being; it is just waiting for someone to perceive its possibility. Just like the Wright brothers perceived that travel by air is a possibility, one-day poverty will be wiped from the face of the Earth because conditions will change and as we cooperate with God and nature and law, we will proclaim the abundance that already exists. “And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others (2 Corinthians 9.8).” I pray that we will all become Saints willing to sacrifice and become eligible for the Lord’s special blessing. The Lord will watch over us so that it will not be too difficult to endure any sacrifice. War will cease when people know that it is no longer desirable, and steadfastly maintain their position. From communion with God we will come to perceive the deeper reality, the broader sharing in human experience. #RandolphHarris 4 of 5

There is power for good in the Universe. God will allow us to have the technology to cure all aliments. Cancer and other diseases and viruses will be wiped from the face of the Earth as science, religion, sense and the philosophy of spiritual truth take the place of lack and limitation, ignorance, superstition, fear, and confusion. The tender mercies and compassion of the Lord are available to all of us. We are here to better understand our very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindness, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receiver from God. God is breaking down barriers of race consciousness, which are the accumulated effects of misconceptions, and removing the morbid fears of the Universe. It takes time to change the thoughts of the whole World, and we have to start by changing our reactions to life, and by building a strong barrier in our own consciousness against everything that denies God. This will help to free thing whole human race from the bondage of fears, ignorance, superstition, and thoughts based on what the past has brought forth. Repentance and forgiveness of sins and peace of conscience are examples of the tender mercies and compassion of the Lord. #RandolphHarris 5 of 5

Eyesight to the Blind as the Years Go Passing By

The great secret of managing the mind of a human being is to find employment for it. God is in all things, and with the idea of God’s transcendence, the idea is that God is above all things. God is not the unity of all things, but rather that which makes all things into a unity; as such, God is not an abstraction, but a real individual, unchangeable, eternal, and independent. The nature of God is manifest in our consciousness. God, or the One, stands in the same relation to the manifold produced by it as does our mind to its thoughts, feeling, and decisions. Our consciousness pictures the Absolute One. To be realistic, one has to take into account that to choose to devote one’s life to reaching enlightenment in our society is uncommon and relatively rare. The goal of society in general is to succeed in the World, whereas the goal of enlightenment is to transcend beyond it. In this psychology, humans are indeed considered a composite of our inner and outer sense. Moral awareness is basic to the human constitution, and it is only during the course of historical development that morality and religion become connected and interdependent. The great aim is to understand Christian ethics as the supreme manifestation. #RandolphHarris 1 of 8

There are chords in the human mind. What we study are the manifestations of a grown and growing morality in religious, social, and political consciousness. The point of reference for an understanding of the moral person is no longer the will as such, but morality as realizing itself through persons in history. Discovering rational truth is a basis of a happy life. Only true knowledge can tame the passions, which are the source of error and therefore of unhappiness. Knowledge comes only from the senses, but purely sensible knowledge called imagination is passive, approximate, and relative, and must be governed by rigid precepts. Reason abstracts from imagination, producing universal and strict concepts. The intellect considers things as they exists in themselves; that is, it penetrates their real nature and connects in one whole the real thing and its sensible and abstract representations. Reason operates by analysis, intellect by synthesis. The exceptional life becomes so by virtue of context and meaning whereby choice sets up a hierarchy of values which motivates all activities. The difference between the ordinary and the exceptional life is primarily one of context. To value love above gain is already such a major shift of attitude that transforms life. #RandolphHarris 2 of 8

Only intellectual knowledge can reach the truth and be communicated. Falsehood arises when intellect works like imagination. The criterion of truth is what can be conceived—that is, ideas insofar as they may be connected or not connected with one another. This criterion does not rest simply on an abstract rule to be applied in each case, but on the possibility of connecting ideas in a comprehensive system. The intellectual faculty is the source of logical truth. However, metaphysical truth comes from experience, and it is truth insofar as it has been deduced from experience by reasoning conforming to logical standards, and insofar as it is confirmed through evident experiments. Intellectual knowledge operated by elaborating simple concepts, or definitions; by deducing simple properties, or axioms, from them; and by connecting the definitions in all possible ways to produce theorems. That definition is real compliance with Heaven’s will and imitation of the ancients. It is a knowledge of causes that enables us to reproduce the object. To do so is for the people to follow the sovereign, and for the sovereign to follow Heaven. #RandolphHarris 3 of 8

It its highest stages, intellectual knowledge is knowledge of the natural World. Science is a whole, and should conform to the methodological ideal of mathematical clarity. Physics is the foundation of the other sciences. By demonstrating the rationality and necessity of all events, physics leads us to recognize divine providence. Human freedom arises from the command of God. Heaven is inherently good and benevolent, and so is the sovereign. His virtuous rule will be marked by order and harmony in the Universe. Heaven sends catastrophes (such as floods and fires, Earthquakes and mountain slides) and anomalies (such as comets, eclipses) to warn humans. When this goes unheeded and no changes are made, Heaven would frighten the people with prodigies. If people are still unawed, ruin and destruction will finally befall the empire. And, first, let us inform ourselves well what those sins are from which we ought to abstain. And here we must not take our measures from the maxims of the World, or the practices of those whom in charity we account good people. The phenomena of the World of nature, trapped in unprogressive cycles of birth and death. The infinite variability and indeed the perfectibility of humankind. #RandolphHarris 4 of 8

Most people have very light apprehensions of these things, and are not sensible of any fault, unless it be gross and flagitious, and scarce reckon any so great as that which they call preciseness: and those who are more serious, do many times allow themselves too great latitude and freedom. In the past and in the future, as knowledge and experience accumulate human’s reason, passions and freedom permit one to escape from the repetitive cycles of external nature. Movement and change give rise to new relationships, and this all experience is instructive; even passion and error, calamity and evil providentially contribute to humankind’s advance. Indeed, the ambitions and the vices of humans and the barbarities of warfare, however, morally reprehensive, may often rescue humankind from stagnation or mediocrity. However, how much pride and vanity, and passion and honour; how much weakness, and folly, and sin, does every day show itself in many people’s converse and behaviour? It may be they are humbled for it, and striving against it, and are daily gaining some ground: but then the progress is so small, and their failings so many, that we have need to choose a more exact pattern. #RandolphHarris 5 of 8

Pain of the mind is relieved by an abstraction of solid thought. The vital medium of progress is the process of human communication. Ideas deriving from sensations are developed through the use of signs, pictures, and especially language, by which knowledge and experience are transmitted and augmented from generation to generation. Since above all it is the human of genius who can grasp the implications and make articulate the lessons of experience, it is society’s duty to encourage natural genius and to heed its advice. Moral circumstances, such as the cultivation of genius, are more important in determining the extent and nature of progress than are such physical circumstances as climate. Every one of us must answer for oneself, and the practices of others will never warrant and secure us. It is the highest folly to regulate our actions by any other standard than that by which we must be judged. Progress is uneven through human’s history. Moreover, it varies necessarily in the different areas and aspects of human activity, such as science, technology, morality, and the arts. #RandolphHarris 6 of 8

Progress in the arts, for example, is always radically limited to nature of humans, since the goal of the arts is pleasure aloe, whereas speculative scientific progress has the anthropomorphic or supernatural, the abstract or speculative, and the empirical—mathematical. If ever we would cleanse our way, it must be by taking heed thereto according to the word of God; and that word which is quick and powerful. Many people are not aware of the forces of error and evil in the World, but the pat and in the happier future. The historical continuity so much stressed in the scriptures in fact ruled out any immediate, thorough renovations of humankind. The moral law does not consider our weaknesses as human beings. It simply demands that we be absolutely moral. The moral law never changes, either for the highest of society or for the weakest in the World. It is enduring and eternally the same. The moral law, ordained by God, does not make itself weak to the weak by excusing our shortcomings. It remains absolute for all time and eternity. The heart loves repose and the soul contemplation, but the mind needs action. #RandolphHarris 7 of 8

Christian perfection is not, and never can be, human perfection. Christian perfection is the perfection of a relationship with God that shows itself to be true even amid the seemingly unimportant aspects of human life. God’s purpose is not to perfect me to make me a trophy in His showcase; God is getting me to the place where I will be able to accomplish my dreams faster. So do not go around talking about how big your problems is, or how you will never make it. God’s gracious hands are on you. You have the favor factor, so do not keep dwelling on everything you lack, the mistakes you have made, or the greater talents of the competition. You are just looking in the natural, at what you can conceive right here and right now, but the power of God, the miracles he can produce go beyond your talent, education or ability, they are supernatural. Focus on what it looks like when God finally gets you that career, degree, acting job, or singing career you want. Can you describe what that looks like? How might God bring opportunities into your life that are greater than you can imagine? Believe in your heart that you are meant to live a life full of passion, purpose, magic and miracles. #RandolphHarris 8 of 8

An Oyster of the Old School Whom Nobody Can Open

A nation in which half the population is criminal would be more diversified than a wholly honest one, but it would not be a better nation. Much relief is experienced when we realize that by adopting a spiritual life, righteous condemnation and the hate that ensues from it can be left to other. This pursuit of the spiritual good benefits all humankind, and it could therefore be said to be the most praiseworthy vocation all the. The spiritual commitment then defines a distinct role which differs from that of the uncommitted person. It implies a different set of standards and focus of energy and attention for the rightful exercise of human choice. As a Victorian, some live, of course, in a society which not only frowns on things like free love, adultery, and Sabbath breaking but also vigorously applied the social sanction of ostracism to any who committed these sins. Intolerance is a necessary preservative of society. The modern liberal state is possibly precisely because society was able to discipline itself through unwritten laws. #RandolphHarris 1 of 8

It is a good thing for humans to be compelled by social intolerance to keep laws of conduct which the wisdom of the ages has shown to be good. Goodness is varied, but that does not mean that variety itself is good. In knowledge of good and evil, it is true that the understanding is clouded by the desires of the will. Heresy is often accompanied by sedition or blasphemy. A very sublime and grand thing is Truth, in its way, though like other sublime and grand thins, such as thunderstorms and that, we are not always over and above glad to see it. There are yet great truths to tell, if we had either the courage to announce or the temper to receive them. Away then with all perplexing fears and desponding thoughts. To undertake vigorously, and reply confidently on the divine assistance, is more than half the conquest. Let us arise and be doing, and the Lord will be with us. It is true, religion in the souls of humans is the immediate work of God, and all our natural endeavors can neither produce it alone, not merit those supernatural assistances by which it must be wrought. #RandolphHarris 2 of 8

The Holy Ghost must come upon us, and the power of the Highest must overthrow us, before that holy thing can be begotten, and Christ be formed in us. However, yet, we must not expect that this whole work should be done without any concurring endeavors of our own. We must not lie loitering in the ditch, and wait till Omnipotence pull us from thence. No, no: we must best ourselves, and actuate those powers which we have already received. We must put forth ourselves to our utmost capacities, and then we may hope that our labor shall not be in vain in the Lord. All the art and industry of human cannot form the smallest herb, or make a stalk of corn to grow in the field; it is the energy of nature, and the influences of Heaven, which produced this effect. It is God who causes the grass to grow, and herb for the service of humans; and yet nobody will say that the labors of the husbandman are useless or unnecessary. So, likewise, the human soul is immediately created by God. It is God who both formed and enlivens the child; and yet he has appointed the marriage bed as the ordinary means for the propagation. #RandolphHarris 3 of 8

Though there must intervene a stroke of Omnipotence to effect this mighty change in our souls, yet ought we to do what we can to fit and prepare ourselves; for we must break up our fallow ground, and root out the weeds, and pull up the thorns, that so we may be more ready to receive the seeds of grace, and the dew of Heaven. It is true, God has been found of some who sought him not. He has cast himself in their way, who were quite out of his. God has laid hold upon them, and stopped their course on a sudden. However, not, that I may detain you no longer, if we desire to have our souls molded to this holy frame, to become partakers of the divine nature, and have Christ formed in our hearts, we must seriously resolve, and carefully endeavour, to avoid and abandon all vicious and sinful practices. There can be no treaty of peace, till once we lay down these weapons of rebellion wherewith we fight against Heaven; nor can we expect to have our distempers cured, if we be daily feeding on poison. #RandolphHarris 4 of 8

Why would an infinitely good God choose to create a being that is by its very nature capable of willfully introducing evil into the order of creation? Would it not have been better to have left such a being uncreated, or to have created a being that would not have been capable of doing this willful evil? Freedom of choice or action is the mark of a relatively superior being. Physical objects, machines, and brutes are inferior precisely because they are not capable of self-willed or self-determining action, but are instead passively dependent on external or internal impulses. Such inferior being are acted upon rather than self-active. God himself is the most perfect possible agent or self-active beings, a being who delights in things merely because they are chosen. The very goodness of things depends on their having been chosen to exist: the Divine election therefore is not determined by the goodness of things, but the goodness and fitness that arises from that election. #RandolphHarris 5 of 8

What is true of God is true to some extent of the most superior of his Earthly creatures, namely, humankind. We indeed continually experience in ourselves the principle of free choice or free election. We are conscious that we are the true cause of our actions, that we have an ability to act and please ourselves in contradicting our natural appetites, our senses, and reasons. Such, however, is the power of free will and such is the pleasure of acting freely that we are capable of making decisions and choices that cause pain to ourselves and others. Human beings are capable of throwing away their fortune, life, and soul least they should be disappointed in a foolish choice. In other words, rather than relinquish the special pleasure that attaches to a free choice, even a perverse, irrational, or foolish one, human agents are prepared to risk loss of property or life. This preparedness to persist in a foolish choice confirms that the peculiar pleasure to be had from the sheer exercise of the will may be greater than the pleasure to be had from the sheer exercise or the understanding. #RandolphHarris 6 of 8

This is not to say that the individual human will is essentially perverse, or that it takes particular pleasure in being perverse. If that were so, then God would indeed have created something wicked in itself. It is of course God’s intention that the chief happiness of human agents should consist in the proper use of will. The happiest choices will be those made within the bounds prescribed by God and nature. As a rule, human agents will in fact choose the courses of action that are the most likely to bring them happiness. However, it is here that certain natural imperfections or natural evils make their presence felt. Because of the natural evils of ignorance and inadvertence, people will be led to make undue elections. Decisions and choices are sometimes made in the absence of the sufficient knowledge or understanding; or, where there is sufficient knowledge, there is sometimes a failure of attention or due care on the part of the agent. Virtue is one all over the World, and there is only one faith, one conceivable conduct of life, one manner of dying. #RandolphHarris 7 of 8

Nature never intended humans to be tyrants. Every willful sin gives a mortal wound to the soul, and puts it at a greater distance from God and goodness; and we can never hope to have our hearts from vicious actions. Now, in this case, we cannot excuse ourselves by the pretense of impossibility; for sure our outward human s some way in our power. We have some command of our feet, and hands, and tongue, nay, and of our thoughts and fancies too, at least so far as to divert them from impure and sinful objects, and to turn our mind another way; and we find this power and authority much strengthened and advanced, if we were careful to manage and exercise it. In the meanwhile, I acknowledge our corruptions are so strong, and our temptations so many, that it will require a great deal of steadfastness and resolution, of watchfulness and care, to preserve ourselves, even in this degree of innocence and purity. We should shut our ears to distrust, and keep them open only for its opposite. #RandolphHarris 8 of 8

I Acknowledge No Orthodoxy but the Truth

It is a good maxim to trust a person entirely or not at all; for a secret is often innocently babbled out by those who know but half of it. They learn their Art at the hazard of our lives, and make experiments by our deaths. God, since he is not a confounder of human sense and reason, would not choose to speak in riddles or mysteries. He chooses to speak in terms that are intelligible to us—terms that reveal rather than obscure and mystify. The glory of God and the stints in Heaven is represented by the brightness of the Sun and the glory of an Earthly kingdom, which are the greatest images we are able to frame of it. The word glory invokes a future happy state, the reward of a virtuous life. The word, despite its obscurity, is semantically promising—that is, it includes or evokes a kind of expectancy or hope, namely that it expects me in the Heavens, that I shall enjoy it, and be made partaker of it; and that it will render me happy beyond all imagination. Revelations must rely upon the evidence of faith. Mystery does not designate what cannot be known by humans but, rather, what is revealed on to the chosen few. #RandolphHarris 1 of 5

How is it possible to think, or make any intelligible statements, about a transcendent God or a supernatural World? How can ideas produced in the course of sensational encounters with the natural World at the same time serve to report a reality that is beyond the reach of sensation? If the supernatural World is beyond the reach of our natural experience, is it not also beyond the reach of ideas formed on the basis of that experience? Faith, the hallmark of Puritanism, is consequently of no avail without the confirmation of reason. Spiritual progress is based on acceptance as a matter of free will and choice and thus everyone experiences only the World of their own choosing. All is self-creating as the manifestation of the mind of God. Because the Universe is self-evolving and self-fulfilling, no intervention is necessary. All is in perfect balance and harmony. It is no longer a World with individuals who need saving, but an energy field to life and reinforce. God has sent out his Holy Spirit, whose sweet but powerful breathings are still moving up and down in the World, to quicken and revive the souls of humans, and awaken them unto the sense and feeling of those divine things for which they were made. #RandolphHarris 2 of 5

God is ready to assist such weak and languished creatures as we are, in our essays towards holiness and felicity: and when once it has taken hold of a soul, and kindled in it the smallest spark of divine love, it will be sure to preserve and cherish, and bring forth into a flame, which many waters shall not quench, neither shall the floods be able to drown. Whenever this day begins to dawn, and the day-star to arise in the heart, it will easily dispel the powers of darkness, and make ignorance and folly, and all the corrupt and selfish affections of humans, flee away as fast before it as the shades of night, when the Sun comes out of his chambers: For the path of the just is as the shining light, which shines more and more unto the perfect day. They shall go on from strength to strength, till every one of them appears before God. Choose to be easygoing, benign, forgiving, compassionate and unconditionally loving towards all life in its expressions without exception, including oneself. Focus on unselfish service and the giving of love, consideration, and respect to all creatures. #RandolphHarris 3 of 5

God knows what he is doing in your life. Avoid negativity and the desire for Worldliness and its greed for pleasure and possessions. Forego opinionating, the judgment of right versus wrong, the vanity of being right. Seek to understand rather than to condemn. Trust in the love, mercy, infinite wisdom and compassion of Divinity which sees through all human error, limitation, and frailty. Place faith and trust in the love of God. Like the Sun, the love of God shines equally on all. Why should we think it impossible, that true goodness and universal love should every come to sway and prevail in our souls? Is not this their primitive state and condition, their native and genuine constitution, as they came first from the hands of their Maker? Sin and corruption are but usurpers, and though they have long kept possession, yet from the beginning it was not so. That inordinate self-love, which one would think were rooted in our very being, and interwoven with the constitution of our nature, is nevertheless of a foreign extraction, and has no place at all in the state of integrity. #RandolphHarris 4 of 5

They know not what they do. The only sin is that lack of understanding. It is not very efficient or rewarding to battle sin and get into a struggle to use will power to overcome defects. The way out of conflict is not to try to eliminate the negative but instead choose to adopt the optimistic view. Our understandings are easily convinced, that we ought to be wholly devoted to God from whom we have our being, and to love God infinitely more than ourselves, who is infinitely better than we; and our wills will readily comply with this, if they were not disordered and put out of tune: and is not he who made our souls, able to rectify and mend then again? Shall we not be able, by God’s assistance, to vanquish and expel those violent intruders, and turn unto flight the armies of the aliens? No sooner shall we take up arms in this holy war, but we shall have all the saints on Earth, and all the angels in Heaven, engaged on our party. It is God’s wish to see the divine life thriving and prevailing in this World; and the will of God may be done by us on Earth, as it is done by themselves in Heaven. Fear not, for they that be with us are more than they that be against us. #RandolphHarris 5 of 5

The Groves were God’s First Temples

In life, there is ever the intellectual and the emotional nature—the mind that reasons, and the mind that feels. Of one come the people of action—generals and statesmen; of the other, the poets and dreamers—artist all. Light is the plants’ only source of energy, so they are entirely dependent on light. The sea walnut uses some of its energy to generate its own light in the deep ocean. Cells convert energy from one form to another as they carry out the business of life. Plants, convert light energy into chemical energy—food for themselves and for the animals that eat them. Some organisms convert the chemical energy of food into light, as does this small deep-sea animal, called a sea walnut. Instead of using chemical energy from food only to grow or reproduce, the sea walnut illuminates its environment. Why does it spend energy in such an apparently frivolous way? In fact, nobody knows for sure—it has been suggested that the animal uses its light to frighten off potential predators, but not many biologist believe this. The function of light emission by sea walnuts remains a mystery. #RandolphHarris 1 of 11

We are creatures of the Sun. Its light is the source—direct or indirect—of the free energy that powers life on Earth. As biologist, we can say, “We are creatures of the chloroplasts.” This abundant organelle, which gives green plants their color, captures the Sun’s energy for us. Inside plants, within stacks of connected, inner membranes wrapped in two outer membranes, chemical reactions convert and store the energy that we draw. Plant growth depends on photosynthesis, and photosynthesis depends on efficient carbon dioxide fixation. The mechanism in turn depends on how much carbon dioxide in the air, it is not always abundantly available to the cells inside the leaves of land plants. Leaves have a waxy covering that retards moisture loss, and water escapes mainly through tiny passages (stomata) across the leaf’s surface. On hot, dry days the stomata are closed and plants conserve water. This means, however, that carbon dioxide cannot enter the lead. At the same time, oxygen builds up inside the leaf as a by-product of photosynthesis. #RandolphHarris 2 of 11

I saw a bright light. The stage is set for a wasteful process called photorespiration. In this process, oxygen instead of carbon dioxide becomes attached to the RuBP (ribulose bisphosphate, is a 5-carbon compound involved in the Calvin cycle, which is part of the light independent reactions of photosynthesis). Our own dependence on the Sun, although absolute, is indirect. Like the other animals, the fungi, many protists, and most monerans, we depend upon a ready supply of partially reduced, carbon-containing compounds as a food source. From such compounds we get all the free energy that keeps us alive and functioning. From them, too, we obtain the carbon atoms used in every organic molecule in our bodies. In a word, we are heterotrophs: We need to feed upon something else. In a World populated exclusively by heterotrophs, all life would grind to an end as the food gradually disappeared. Our World owes the continued existence of life to the presence of autotrophs—organisms that do not need previously formed organic substances from their environment. #RandolphHarris 3 of 11

A strong yellow light pooled beneath the trees; my shadow appears and vanished on the path. For autotrophs, an energy source (such as light) and an inorganic carbon source (such as carbon dioxide gas) suffice as a diet. From these simple ingredients, autotrophs make the reduced carbon compounds from which their bodies are built and their food needs met. By feeding on autotrophs, the heterotrophs of the World meet their needs for energy and matter. The principal autotrophs are photosynthetic organisms that use visible light as their energy source. From light, carbon dioxide, and water, they begin the chemistry that sustain almost the entire biosphere. Photosynthesis is the conversion of light energy to chemical energy by living things. Organisms that conduct photosynthesis—pants and photosynthetic protists and monerans—stand at the gateway to the living World, at the interface where inorganic becomes organic, where nonlife becomes life. The Worldwide extent of photosynthetic activity is stunning: Each year, tens of billions of tons of carbon atoms are taken from carbon dioxide and incorporated into molecules of sugars, amino acids, and other compounds. #RandolphHarris 4 of 11

Photosynthesis is known to use three principal ingredients—water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and light—and to produce not only food but also oxygen gas (O2). Scientists had learned that the water for photosynthesis comes primarily from the soil (for plants living on land) and mist travel from the roots to the leaves; that carbon dioxide is taken in from the atmosphere through tiny openings, called stomata (singular, stoma), in the leaves; and that light is absolutely necessary for the production of oxygen and food. The carbon dioxide uptake and oxygen release are closely related and both depend on light actions. CO2 + H2O + light energy –> sugar + O2, but many details in the process remain hidden. Oxygen released during photosynthesis comes from the carbon dioxide or from water. Trees combat climate change. Excess carbon dioxide (CO2) caused by many factors is a building up in our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. Trees absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the amount of CO2 produced when you drive 26,000 miles. #RandolphHarris 5 of 11

The morning woods are utterly new. Trees absorb orders and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone) and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and bark. Trees provide oxygen—in one year, an acre of mature trees can provide enough oxygen for 18 people. Trees cool the streets and the city. Average temperature in Los Angeles, California USA have risen 6 degrees Fahrenheit in the last 50 years as tree coverage has declined and the number of heat-absorbing roads and buildings have increased. Trees cool the city by up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit, by shading our houses and streets, and breaking up urban heat islands, and releasing water vapor into the air through their leaves. Urban heat islands can affect communities by increasing Summertime peak energy demand, air conditioning costs, air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, heat-related illness and mortality and water quality. On a hot, sunny Summer day, roof and pavement surface temperature can be 50-90 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than air, while shaded or moist surfaces–often in more rural surroundings—remain close to air temperatures. #RandolphHarris 6 of 11

Trees are the cradle of the race and dwelling place of the supreme God. Three trees places strategically around a single-family house can cut Summer air conditioning needs by up to 50 percent. By reducing energy demand for cooling our houses, we reduce carbon dioxide and other pollution emissions from power plants. Shade from trees slows water evaporation from thirsty lawns. Most newly planted trees need only fifteen gallons of water a week. As trees transpire, they increase atmospheric moisture. Trees reduce runoff by breaking rainfall this allowing the water to flow down the trunk and into the Earth below the tree. This prevents storm water from carrying pollutants to the ocean. When mulched, trees act like a sponge that filters this water naturally and uses it to recharge ground water supplies. On hillsides or stream slopes, trees slow runoff and hold soil in place, which prevent soil erosion. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancers in the United States of America, trees shield people from ultraviolet rays exposure by about 50 percent, thus providing protection to children on school campuses and playgrounds—where children spend hours outdoors. #RandolphHarris 7 of 11

The grove is the center of their religion and trees also provide food. An apple tree can yield up to 15-20 bushels of fruit per year and can be planted on tiny urban lots. And trees also provide birds and wildlife with food. Studied have also shown that patients with views of trees out their windows heal faster and with less complications. Furthermore, children with ADHD show fewer symptoms when they have access to nature. Exposure to trees and nature helps concentration by reducing mental fatigue. Moreover, neighborhoods and houses that are barren have shown to have a greater incidence of violence in and out of the home than their greener counterparts, so trees help to reduce violence and trees and other landscaping help to reduce levels of fear. Tree also mark the seasons and people enjoy the color changes or the beauty of strong evergreen trees. In addition, trees create economic opportunities. By harvesting fruit, community orchards can be sold, this providing income. Small business opportunities in green waste management and landscaping arise when cities value mulching and its water-saving qualities. #RandolphHarris 8 of 11

Humans come from the Earth. Whether as houses for children or creative and spiritual inspiration for adults, trees have provided the space for human retreat throughout the ages. Tree planting also provide an opportunity for community involvement and empowerment that improves the quality of our life in our neighborhoods. All cultures, ages, and genders have an important role to play at a tree planting or tree care event. Trees also are helpful landmarks and can give a neighborhood a new identity and encourage civic pride. Trees provide a canopy and habitat for wildlife, and they can mask concrete walls, parking lots, unsightly views and also add privacy. Another benefit is that tree muffle sound from nearby streets and freeways, and create an eye-soothing canopy of green. Trees also absorb dust and wind and reduce glare. During the cold winter month, tree provide wood for fuel and craft wood. The butterflies were vaulting and furling about.  The beauty of a well-planted property and its surrounding street and neighborhood can raise property values by as much as 15 percent. Even the evergreens looked greener, newly created and washed.  #RandolphHarris 9 of 11

Studies have shown that the more trees and landscaping a business district has, the more business will flow in. A tree-lined street will also slow traffic—enough to allow the driver to look at the store fronts instead of just speeding by. And finally, a healthy lawn increases soil stability through its deep and expansive root structure which reduces land degradation and erosion from wind and water. A healthy lawn has the same cooling effect as an 8.5-ton air conditioning compressor. Lawns also increase property values, reduce stress are a great place for recreation, they absorb noise, and save water. A soccer field can absorb 50,000 gallons of water before runoff occurs and stores it in the Earth.  Grass also reduces carbon dioxide and traps an estimated 12 million tons of dust and dirt released annually into the atmosphere. Turfgrass areas measuring 2,500 square feet produce enough oxygen for a family of four to breathe. An average size healthy lawn can capture as much as 300 pounds of carbon per years and a golf course can capture 1,500 pounds per year. One soccer field can offset the carbon produces by a car driving 3,000 miles. #RandolphHarris 10 of 11

The environmental benefits of trees and grass and their impact on the greenhouse effect is the most sensible and economically feasible approach to countering the greenhouse effect in urban areas. On a hot summer day, a well-maintained lawn area will be at least 30 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than asphalt and 14 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than bare soil.  Each generation takes the Earth as trustees. We ought to bequeath to posterity as many forest and orchards as we have exhausted and consumed. The forest are the flags of nature. They appeal to all and awaken inspiring universal feelings. Enter the forest and the boundaries of nations are forgotten. It may be that some time an immortal time will be the flag of a united peaceful World. When you enter a grove peopled with ancient trees, higher than the ordinary, and shutting out the sky with their thickly inter-twined branches, do not the stately shadows of the wood, the stillness of the place, and the beauty shade of the cavern then strike you with the presence of a deity? The groves were God’s first temples. #RandolphHarris 11 of 11

A Building like Ours would Cost Over $3 Billion to Construct

Who can part, forever; only when we come so close that nothing separates us can we meet again, only when what binds us is not my need of you or your need of me nor any chance circumstance, but a deep ingrained likeness of nature that cannot pass away. The face is but a reflecting surface of the soul. Natural law is a rational participation in the eternal law of God and suggests that all people have a sufficient knowledge of what is morally right (the justum) to be able to regulate their own actions. You cannot expect the constituted authorities to inquire into the state of a person’s soul—or is it only one’s liver? The judgment of synderesis (an intellectual quality enabling any person to intuit the first principle of practical reasoning) is simply the proposition “Good should be done and sought after; evil is to be avoided.” Human’s substantial nature is toward the conversation of its own existence and physical well-being, that of human’s animal nature to seek such biological goods as the sexual reproduction and the care of offspring, and that of human’s reason whereby one tends toward universal goods, such as consideration of the interests of other persons and the avoidance of ignorance. #RandolphHarris 1 of 10

I cannot repeat an emotion. No one can, except sentimentalists. Every calamity severs a strong from the heart, until one scene of sorrow on the back of another matures us for eternity. Is there stagnation in your spiritual life? Get into God’s presence and find out the reason for it. You will possibly find it is because you have been interfering in the life of another—advising when you had not right to advise. When you do have to give advice to another person, God will advise through you with the direct understanding of His spirit.  All inclinations are presented as natural and good, provided they are reasonably pursued. They form the bases from which one may conclude to a number of rules of natural moral law. Law in general is any ordinance of reason that is promulgated for the common good by one who has charge of a community. Reason is the key word in this definition. Right reason (recta ratio) is the justification of ethical judgment of thought. In the case of volitional activities, the proximate standard is human reason (regula proxima est ratio humana) but the supreme standard is the eternal law. #RandolphHarris 2 of 10

Therefore, whenever a human’s action proceeds to its end in accord with the order of reason and of eternal law, then the act is right; but when it is twisted away from this rightness, then it is called sin. It is a very great thing to obey, to live under a superior and not to be one’s own master, for it is much safer to be subject than it is to command. Many live-in obedience more from necessity than from love. Such become discontented and dejected on the slightest pretext; they will never gain peace of mind unless they subject themselves wholeheartedly for the love of God. Go where you may, you will find no rest except in humble obedience to the rule of authority. Dreams of happiness expected from change and different places have deceived many. Everyone, it is true, wishes to do as one pleases and is attracted to those who agree with them. However, if God be among us, we must at times give up our opinions for the blessings of peace. Furthermore, who is so wise that one can have full knowledge of everything? We tend to set up success in Christian work as our purpose, but our purpose should be to display the glory of God. #RandolphHarris 3 of 10

God has made nothing in vain. God’s first creation was light. Ethics requires a person to govern one’s actions as reasonably as one can, keeping in mind the kind of agent that one is and the position that one occupies in the total scheme of reality. Human’s own good is achieved by the governance of one’s actions and feelings under rational reflection—and God does not require anything else. For we do not offend God, except by doing something contrary to our own good. It is a part of being reasonable to respect the good of others. The moral good, then, is not so much what people are obligated to do by an all-powerful legislator; rather, it is that which is in accord with the reasonable perfecting of human. In becoming a better agent within oneself, human is making oneself more fit for the ultimate happiness and for the vision of God. This kind of ethics resembles a self-perfectionist theory, without the idealist overtones. Because you honor God, He will do in a fraction of the time what should have taken you a lifetime to accomplish. You are about to see the favor of God profusely abound in your life. #RandolphHarris 4 of 10

Holy and delightsome is the Earth. God saw that everything he had made was very good. All things have specific natures which do not change: dogs are dogs, stones are stones. Certain functions are taken as natural and appropriate to given natures: eating is an act expected of a dog, but not of a stone. Human nature shares certain functions with the higher brutes but is distinguished by the performance of rational activities. Some of these typical functions are always the same in relation to human’s nature and ethical rules pertaining to these do not change. An example of such an immutable rule of justice is simply “Theft is unjust.” Other ethical judgments, however, are not essential to justice (for example, detailed ordinances which contain many variable factors); these secondary rules are by no means absolute and immutable. Examples would be rules concerned with taxation, buying and selling, and other such circumstantially variable regulations. Moral law is composed of both types of rules and is neither absolute nor immutable in all its requirements. #RandolphHarris 5 of 10

Shun the gossip of human as much as possible, for discussion of Worldly affairs, even though sincere, is a great distraction inasmuch as we are quickly ensnared and captivated by vanity. Many a time I wish that I had held my peace and had not associated with humans. Why, indeed, do we converse and gossip among ourselves when we so seldom part without a troubled conscience? This is not a Wendy interview, this is not The Wendy Show! We do so because we seek comfort from one another’s conversation and wish to ease the mind wearied by diverse thoughts. Hence, we talk and think quite fondly of things we like very much or of things we dislike intensely. However, sad to say, we often talk vainly and to no purpose; for this external pleasure effectively bards inward and divine consolation. Therefore, we must watch and pray lest time pass idly. Bad habits and indifference to spiritual progress do much to remove the guard from the tongue. From four till late, I was wringing my hands and crying. I believe to my soul that your daddy is Gulfport bound. From Memphis to Norfolk is a thirty-six-hour ride. #RandolphHarris 6 of 10

A man is like a prisoner and he is never satisfied. A woman is like a dresser, some man is always rambling through its drawers. It is because so many men wear an apron overhaul. From four until late, she get with a no-good bunch and clownin’. Now, she will not do anything, but tear a good man’s reputation down. When I leave this town, I am only going to bid you a fare, farewell. And when I return again, you will have a great long story to tell. Devout conversation on spiritual matters, on the contrary, is a great assistant to spiritual progress, especially when persons of the same mind and spirit associate together in God. Moral conscience is a concrete intellectual judgment whereby the individual agent decides for oneself that a given action or feeling is good or bad, right or wrong, to be done or not to be done. Conscience is not considered a special power or moral sense, nor is it viewed as the source of universal more convictions. It is simply human’s best practical judgment concerning a concrete moral problem. As such, moral conscience is a person’s internal guide to good action; one acts immorally in going against one’s conscience, for it is one’s best judgment on a matter. #RandolphHarris 7 of 10

If it is not one’s best judgment, then the person is clearly required to make a better effort to reach a conscientious decision. I am going to get up in the morning, I believe I will dust my broom. Girlfriend, the Black man you been lovin’, girlfriend, can get my room. I am going to write a letter, telephone every town I know. If I cannot find her in West Hollywood, she must be in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, I know. I do not want no woman who wants every downtown man she meets. She is a no good doney, they should not low her on the street. I believe, I believe I will go back home. You can mistreat me here, babe, but you cannot when I go home. I am going to call up Paris, she is my good girl over there. If I cannot find her on Philippine’s Island, she must be in Ethiopia somewhere. Reasonable consideration is a proposed action includes thinking of the kind of action that it is (the formal object), the purpose to which it is to be performed. These moral determinants are used to complete the theory of right reasoning. I want to know God’s thoughts. The rest are details. Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the less expensive wine after the guest have too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.  #RandolphHarris 8 of 10

Father in Heaven, this word is for me today. I am raising my expectations. I am building my faith, courage, love, happiness, goals, and dreams. I thank you, God, that You want to do something new and extraordinary in my life. You are God who has blessed me with this beautiful life, amazing family, and great friends. I believe that you are about to flood my life with Your blessings, as you open the windows of Heaven and pour our tsunamis of increased joy, healing, mercy, and blessings that cannot be stopped. Your many blessings and infinite liberality will exceed all my wishes and thoughts. This echo is in my spirit and colonizing my cellular structure, experience and memory, biosocial connection, and body integrity. The goodness of God is denaturing the identity in my body’s reproduction to a genetic code that biotechnical engineers cannot control or manipulate. The bodies deepest structures are possessed and rearranged to overcome me as I heed the echo of the voice of the Lord my God. The body ceases to be a stable spatial map of normalized functions and instead emerges as a highly mobile field of strategic differences known as the divine art of a miracle feeding new events into that pattern. #RandolphHarris 9 of 10

We have forgotten the gracious Hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. The World is comprised of systems with interactive technology and biological components, allowing flows of information and energy. Thermodynamic, evolutionary processes in systems are sometimes accelerated by catastrophe. A large-scale process and new replicative chains—catastrophes caused by outside factors probably increase complexity more rapidly—but unpredictably. Accelerated growth alters the normative process of human reproduction and social organization. We are talking of fusion; of chemical change; the structural reinvention of cells, of matter and energy in a new relationship. It is not represented as a weakness or defect, but a doorway to other modes of being. The traditional domestic order based on serialization and inheritance, replacing this structure with a field of riddles, secrets, misnaming, and hybrid discourses. Infinite extensions in infinite process. #RandolphHarris 10 of 10

The Key of the Greater Work

You understood my soul, I thought, and now others are coming only to sack my heart of all its riches. Mystical experiences are a nourishment to the soul in supporting the individual in a life of active love and there are behavioral criteria for estimating their worth. Each individual experiences oneself from within as a conscious being. Consciousness is thus directly identifiable as spiritual energy. In this active life, we may possess God through a fusion of the divine and human wills. The love of God and the love of human beings go together and the former finds its consummation in the inner union of the soul with the Creator. In principle, all humans should be capable of this return of the soul to its Source. Two qualifications, however, must be made. First, the way of return involves great heroism and endurance. The creaturely side of a human must be purified. Every virtue may be learned and practiced at home; and it is only because we do not choose to have either virtue or religion among us, that so many adventurers are yearly sent out to smuggle foreign graces. Virtue is a sign of burning love of God, and eventually the friend of God may acquire a real desire for, rather than the aversion to, virtue.  #RandolphHarris 1 of 12

Moral experience does deserve to be taken seriously, for facts and values are given together and never occur in separation in our concrete experience of the World. If you have been struggling to deal with a particularly frustrating situation for a long time, do not stop praying about it. Remember that there is nothing that God cannot do. Trust that God will answer you when the time is right. Understand that a delay in hearing from God simply means that His perfect time has not come yet and there is a good reason why. Be patient and trust that God is at work being the scenes. The fall of man has tainted the human being that the divine light, which illuminates the contemplative and brings about the return to God, is something that humans cannot achieve on their own. It is a gift of divine grace. Thus, the culmination of the mystic’s quest is not a personal achievement of the mystic, but an enjoyment granted from beyond. #RandolphHarris 2 of 12

The operation of divine grace requires a right attitude on the part of humans. God is like a fisherman who lets down a baited hook into the ocean. Those fish who are not disposed toward the bait will not be hooked. “The kingdom of Heaven is like a net that was let down into the ocean and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fisherman pulled it up on the shore. Then he sat down and collected the good in baskets, but threw the bad away” (Matthew 13.47-48). Seed sown in faith day by day is the nightly harvest of the soul, and with the soul we work. With the soul we see. Three aspects of the soul can be distinguished. At the deepest level is the Ground of the soul—otherwise referred to as the Spark, the Apex, and God in the soul and is not an intrinsic, natural property of the individual. At another level, the soul possesses intellect, sense faculties, and will. Third, there is the heart. The attitude of the individual toward the divine Being is determined by weather the heart is turned toward the Ground or away from it. If the former, God will descend, draw the spirit up Himself, and unite it with Him. #RandolphHarris 3 of 12

Human choice is there for essentially a choice of disposition.  Once this choice has been made, God through His grace will conform the human will to His own. Thus, the end of the contemplative life is a state in which the mystic is, so to speak, taken over by God, so that all one’s actions express God’s purpose rather than one’s own. So, we are given free will and the choice to unite with God or not. If the values of moral life were divorced from the facts of the World, then no argument from moral experience to the nature of reality could succeed. The nature of the good is at which the moral life aims. Is it a temporal good or is it an eternal good? Even to be able to ask this question and to be aware of the temporal dimension of our existence is to have begun to transcend the form of temporality. Furthermore, reflection shows that no merely temporal goods can satisfy the demands of human nature. Such goods are defective in various ways; for instance, they can be attained only successively and cannot be enjoyed simultaneously. #RandolphHarris 4 of 12

One might answer, of course, that this merely shows that human aspirations are doomed to frustration, but that claim is not true. We can enjoy temporal human joys, but the fact of moral striving is to reach the eternal good. The second consideration concerns the question how such an eternal good is to be attained. Can human beings attain to an eternal good? Sin and guilt are conditions that inhibit the moral life and prevent people from reaching their goal. However, again, do not accept this frustration as final. With artifacts, unlike natural examples of design, we have some insight into what is responsible for the adjustment of means to end. We can understand it because we can see how this adjustment springs from the creative activity of the maker, guided by his deliberate intention to make the object capable of performing this function. Hence, in natural cases of adaption where the source of adaptation where the source of the adaptiveness is not obvious, we have no recourse but to employ the only way we know of rendering such phenomena intelligible—supposing them to stem from conscious planning. Since we do not observe any planner at work, we must postulate an invisible planner behind the scenes. #RandolphHarris 5 of 12

The evolution advocated is all embracing and characterizes much more than living things. Long before living things appeared on the Earth, the basic stuff of the cosmos was undergoing irreversible changes in the greater complexity of organization. Hence, nonliving nature is profoundly historical. It is not only a system of stable elements in a closed equilibrium. On the contrary, it conforms at all stages to a law of complexification, comparable in importance to the law of gravity and illustrated by the vast array of organic forms which have appeared in evolutionary history. The more recent of these forms is the human being. The absence of the soul is far more terrible in a living person than in a dead one. Human beings have a conscious inner face that everywhere duplicated the material external material face. Since this is so, the physical evolution of the cosmic stuff will at the same time be an evolution of consciousness. The more highly integrated a material system, the more developed its physical interior will be. Thus, in the human brain an intense concentration, or involution of cells has led to the emergence of self-conscious thought, the most advanced stage reached by evolution thus far. #RandolphHarris 6 of 12

However, greater developments are in store from evolutionary convergence of disparate cultures and forms of consciousness. Humans are now a single, interbreeding species expanding on the finite, spherical surface of the planet and still showing signs of biological immaturity. Furthermore, the human capacity for self-conscious thought and the production of cultures has added a new layer to the Earth’s surface, the noosphere, distinct from, yet superimposed on, the biosphere. The noosphere literally means the mind-sphere or Earth’s mental sheathe. It is a critical premise arising from the inevitable next stage of terrestrial evolution, which will subsume and transform the biosphere. The emergence of the noosphere at a peak mystical moment referred to as the Omega Point. This moment will be the result of the interaction of increasing activity of the human networks creating a highly charged thinking layer above and discontinuous with the biosphere. Thus, a network of links more and more literally present, in the immensity of their organism, as the image of a nervous system. #RandolphHarris 7 of 12

This geotechnology will extend a closely interdependent network of its enterprises over the whole Earth. The evolutionary convergence which it makes possible will be manifested externally in the unification of all human cultures into a single World culture. Paralleling this, a movement toward psychical concentration will occur, so that the noosphere will become involuted in a Hyperpersonal Consciousness at a point which we might call Omega. Here evolution will reach the terminal phase of convergent integration. Omega is obscure, right now, because aspects of this evolutionism is essentially the expression of a mystical vision, combined with technology. God did promises to end all suffering and death on Earth and even promised to raise the dead so that they could live again and experience eternal life, and perhaps technology is a way to do this. Many people fear the future because they believe Earth will get increasingly bad. Much of this evil is thought to be a product of greed and a lack of resources. However, it is also predicted that money will lose its value and become worthless. #RandolphHarris 8 of 12

Nonetheless, with technology like Omega, it is possible to provide for everyone on the planet and make conditions in the noosphere optimal for the growth of food and production of other resources. And it is possible, if death can be cured, so can all other illnesses. Additionally, humans may go on to colonize other planets in our solar system with geotechnology, as they would be able to control the climate and make it possible for human life to thrive. So, if all our needs are met, then war and conflict should no longer be an issue. Omega is not identical with God, but rather, is God insofar as he determines the direction and goal of cosmic history. Hence, the evolutionary process is orthogenetic, although neither vitalistic nor wholly devoid of chance events. The integration of all personal consciousnesses at Omega will be achieved through love, which forms le Milieu divin, the spirit of Christ at work in nature. #RandolphHarris 9 of 12

Even if we admit the World exhibits design, why are we not as justified in supposing the World was generated from the sexual union of two parent Worlds as in supposing that it was created by a mind in accordance with a plan? Because creation generation gives a more satisfactory answer at the particular level of evolution. The mind of the designer also requires explanation. However, the mind of the designer is so well fitted for the architecture of the human soul, body, mind, and the World and Universe and it had to be explained in a way that made sense. So, with the growth of technology, the process of evolution will change. People are essentially good and we want to stop crime on Earth and make life peaceful. If God, or the Omega is able to have a mystic union with technology, the concepts in the Bible are possible. The World is a unified system of adaptions. We can give an intelligible explanation of this fact only by supposing the World was created by an intelligent being according to some plane. Therefore, it is reasonable to consider the World was created by an intelligent being. #RandolphHarris 10 of 12

The World is like a machine. Machines are made by human beings, in accordance with plans. Like effects have like causes. Therefore, the World probably owes its existence to something like a human being, who operates in accordance with a plan. If one is to think of the whole Universe as a system of connected adaptions, one will consider kinds of adaptions other than that exemplified by the fitness of organisms to the conditions of life. The World and the human mind are so related that we can learn more and more without limit. The adaption of living organisms to their environments is part of evolution. The World is conducive to the emergence and maintenance of life only because temperatures do not exceed certain limits, certain kinds of chemical processes go on. Nature is not only suited to penetration by the intellect; it is also constituted so as to awaken valuable aesthetic responses in humans. The ways in which the World ministers to the moral life of humans forces us to learn something about the uniformities in natural operations, develop our intelligence, as a prerequisite to moral development. #RandolphHarris 11 of 12

And moral virtues are acquired in the course of having to cope with the hardships of one’s natural environment. The over-all progressiveness of the evolutionary process, therefore, could be possibly expanded by technology. Now, at long last, the process of cultural evolution has generated another envelope, superimposed on the biosphere, a sheet of humanized and social matter. A planetary sense organ opening it to galactic consciousness. The idea is that I can leave my body for short periods, and during those periods I can search for you. The soul has two parts. One part, the higher soul and it can leave the body. And the primitive or residual soul stays in the body, but is incomplete without a higher soul. God did promise to give new opportunities and new relationships and new perspectives. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who are pure of heart and mind, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22.13-14). We are always in the forge, or on the anvil; by trials God is shaping us for higher things. And greater works then these God will do. #RandolphHarris 12 of 12

#ASOT811 The Authority of Truth and Instructions for Reasonable Life

My love was founded on a rock and it endures. You cannot look away. The mesmerized look in your eyes reveals that watching and listening seems to put you in a trance, and you emerge feeling better. We know from our own experience that the love we have deeply longed for has always been right here.   Peace does not depend on the World looking peaceful, and everything we wanted to be rid of is an expression of the wholeness we are, and that transformation can happen when our minds stop trying to control everything and allow things, moments, people, and feeling to be felt is deeply loving. These aspects of our lives are logically connected with the ideas of human freedom, moral vision, moral criticism, ideas of inventiveness, originality, and the life of the imagination. You are in a trance when you experience past life recall. The recall comes from your unconscious mind, which creates the images that come back up to the surface of your conscious mind. Any times you remember an image you go into a trance, and every time you go into a trance, you are experiencing a form of self-hypnosis. #RandolphHarris 1 of 9

The intellectual life is a social venture. The easier the subject accepts the suggestions from the DJ or music, the more likely he or she is to enter a deeper hypnotic state. This is a term known as fantasy prone personality that describes someone who easily enters a deep trance. The more someone is open to the imaginations, the greater the potential that person have for experiencing a hypnotic trance. Philosophical judgments are ways in which experience progresses toward its goal of intelligibility, and the task of such judgments is to disclose the implications of dynamic coordinates of experience: mind, nature, and other selves. Reality cannot be identified with mind, will, or personality but must be comprehended as a system in which each entity plays a part as an individual and as a significant function of the purposeful whole. Who can part, forever; only when we come so close that nothing separates us can we meet again, only when what binds us is not my need of you or your need of me nor any chance circumstance, but a deep ingrained likeness of nature that cannot pass away.  #RandolphHarris 2 of 9

Sentiment is a disgrace instead of an ornament, unless it leads us to good actions. Creation of the World was freely willed by God, as in no way necessitated, as his nature is love. There is no lack or insufficiency in God that needs the creating of the World to remedy it. Love demands society and community, but the divine society of the Trinity is itself thought of as supplying this scope of love, from eternity. It is possible, therefore, to see the creation of the World as a wholly gratuitous exercise of love. The mysteries of religion can sometimes be beyond human reason, but also contradict it. Something may be unthinkable for human reason that is not so for God in itself. Faith always works in a personal way, because the purpose of God is to see that perfect faith is made real in His Children. Faith is a tremendously active principle that always puts Jesus Christ first. Our faith is limitless. Faith is the entire person in the right relationship with God through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Faith by its very nature must be tested and tried. And the real trail of faith is not that we find it difficult to test God, but that God’s character must be proven as trustworthy in our own minds. #RandolphHarris 3 of 9

If shame was not audacious, one would never attempt to do as they do. However, let us still resist shame; for notwithstanding all shame’s bravadoes, one promteth the fool and none else. Faith being worked out into reality must experience times of unbroken isolation. Never confuse the trial of faith with the ordinary discipline of life, because a great deal of what we call the trail of faith is the inevitable result of being alive. The most general principle of human knowledge is neither principle of identity nor the principle of contradiction, but a principle concerning what we can and cannot think: What cannot be thought at all is false, and what cannot be thought of as false is true. Our notions of identity and contradiction are based on this principle, which is called the principle of cogitabailitas. It is an inner criterion, depending on the nature of the human understanding. Human reason cannot reach ultimate truth. Knowledge begins with experience, both inner and outer, and in many cases is stopped in its analysis of an order of facts by certain notions that, although they are not simple in themselves, cannot be further analyzed by humans. #RandolphHarris 4 of 9

Beauty is an angel that no one ever caught; truth is a deception that changes to falsehood while you finger it. We are shadows among shadows. Even if an analysis is completed and humans do reach some simple basic notion, this notion cannot be demonstrated or deduced from a unique source. Each notion must be intuited singly by connecting it with concrete examples. We are called into intimacy with the gospel, and things happen that appear to have nothing to do with us. However, God is getting us into fellowship with Himself. Let God have His way. If you refuse, you will be of no value to God in His redemptive work in the World, but will be a hindrance and a stumbling block. The Lord does not give me rules, but He makes His standard very clear. If my relationship to God is that of love, I will do what He says without hesitation. If I hesitate, it is because I love someone I have placed in competition with Him, namely, myself. Jesus Christ will not force me to obey Him, but I must. If I obey Jesus Christ in the seemingly random circumstances of life, they become pinholes through which I see the face of God. #RandolphHarris 5 of 9

By an appeal to reality (by their concrete representations)—notions such as existence, space, time, and force; or, in psychology, the particular powers of the soul, some mental faculties, and pleasure and pain, the circular process of being attempts to modify experiences to keep the desired image and avoid the threatening ones, and continually reinforces the beliefs and assumptions in the position apart from being. The desire to anchor one’s being in a self is not attacked, but is invited into a process of respectful inquiry and loving challenge. We learn to relinquish attachment and illusion. It is growth through letting go rather than an accumulation of new ideas, new conditions, and new assumptions that must be continued. A sense of what constitutes emotional pain may be associated with experiences of rejection, abandonment, rage, neglect, or abuse. The psychological split is healed when pain is neither retained nor defended against psychologically. Pleasure is neither sought nor rejected. One may move in the direction of health by integrating experiences that have been avoided, but is fully healthy when rejection and acceptance are not options. #RandolphHarris 6 of 9

God’s existence can be proved, but his attributes cannot, properly speaking, be understand completely by humans—among other things, positive infinity is beyond human’s reason. The human notion of God is partially relative and partially negative; nevertheless, it is certain. God is different from created beings both in degree and in essence. Among the attributes of God is free will, which is limited by principle of contradiction and by his goodness. In God and God alone, intellect and will are a single power. Space and time are intimately connected with existence; they are conditions of things insofar as such things exist. There is no real space or time without substance to fill it; outside the real World there is only possible (not sensible) space or time, which is infinite and filled by God. There are empty spaces in the World (otherwise movement would be impossible), but they are only physically—and not metaphysically—empty, because they are filled with God’s presence. Mathematical space and time are distinct from physical space and time, and are abstracted from the relations of things. #RandolphHarris 7 of 9

Spiritual materialism has finite spirits that are simple unextended substances, and they will enter a space and share with material substances the power of motion. Thus, a real interaction between spiritual and material substances is possible, and the doctrines of pre-established harmony and occasionalism are unnecessary. The human soul is an independent substance with two fundamental powers, thinking and willing, both of which are a complex of several independent lesser powers. Immortality of the soul can be proved only if God’s existence is presupposed—that is, by an appeal to moral certitude. Natural duties have been imposed on human beings through God’s free choice. The empirical psychology into free will has a cognitive power that becomes logic. And there is also an aspect of free will that is also placed in ethics. Moral goodness consists in the conformity of the human will with God’s will. The human will is a power to act on the understanding, on the body, and on the will itself, but its connection with the understanding is not altogether clear. We are immediately conscious of freedom, which is the main property of the human will. The will is moved by sufficient reason, which does not necessitate, and therefore the will is free. #RandolphHarris 8 of 9

It is essential that you give people the opportunity to act on the truth of God. The responsibility must be left with the individual—you cannot act for him or her. It must be one’s own deliberate act, but the evangelical message should always lead on to action. Refusing to act leaves a person paralyzed, exactly where one was previously. However, once one acts, one is never the same. An action is moral if it is done out of obligation only, and not in quest of happiness. The moments I truly live are the moments when I act with my entire will. The practice of coming back to the safe place can enhance mindfulness and encourage reorientation to reality, instead of the subjective, personal story about the individual’s suffering. Forgiveness spontaneously arises, as do spiritual understanding.  Virtue is formally conditioned by a coincidence of human will and divine law, and is materially conditioned by love for God. Divine law is known through conscience, which is an immediate power of moral judgment founded on a sort of common sense called moral taste. Evil originates in a wrong use of free will, which, when it submits to unreasonable impulses, corrupts human understanding and the true representation.  I wish you health, wealth, and longevity and your family health, happiness, every success and satisfaction. Happy Birthday (422). #RandolphHarris 9 of 9

The Witches Act of 1603—Sell Your Soul to Supernatural 1,000,000 View = Reality

You complain of a great many defects [in yourself] and that complaint is the highest recommendation I could desire to make me love and esteem you and desire your friendship. And if I were now setting out in the World, I should think it my great happiness to have such a companion as you, who had a true relish of truth…and, if I mistake not, you have as much of it as I ever met with in anybody. The right and the necessity to inquire freely and fearlessly into all subjects, especially religion, is important to human testimony. The superstitions of peoples throughout the World and also the infinite numbers of pretenders to the divine revelation of freedom, with tongue in cheek created some thoughts. In the sixteenth century, a new Christian theory developed based on Christian theology, canon law, and philosophical ideas. This theory was that a witch had made a deliberate pact with the Devil—almost a form of a personal arrangement—but that witch did not act alone. The Christian witch theory demanded that more of these witches be found, and arrested and that black witchcraft be effectively ended. #RandolphHarris 1 of 9

The authorities of the time believed that even healing had to be a result of a pact with the Devil, so white witches were also persecuted. The arrest of one witch almost certainly led to more arrests, as torture was allowed to be used on suspects to find out the names of other witches. Freedom had exorcised the witches that so plagued James I and Charles I: Witchcraft was a criminal offence in Scotland prior to 1590 and great numbers of witches had almost annually executed in England, from the remotest antiquity to the late Revolution; when the liberty given, and take to thin freely, the Devil’s power visibly declined, and England as well as the United Provinces ceased to be any part of his Christian territories. All enemies of freethinking were branded crack-brained and enthusiastical, malicious, ambitious, inhumane, ignorant, or brutal—or courters of priests, women, and the mob. Three hundred witches had allegedly gathered to plot the murder of James. It is known that James had a morbid fear of violent death. Therefore, these trials were of especial interest to him, and he suddenly developed a very keen interest in demonology and witch craft. #RandolphHarris 2 of 9

Evidence for these crimes seemed outlandish. Witches were accused of attempting to drown James by calling up a storm while he was at sea with his new wife. Other charges included trying to kill James by melting a wax effigy of him. They were also accused of performing perverted rituals in a church in Berwick—though it is not clear that this had to do specifically with trying to kill the king. However, when James became king is 1603, he claimed that he never had been responsible for hunting and killing the witches. Yet, evidence suggests differently. In 1591, King James showed a particular interest in the trial of Mary Napier—she was arrested for consulting a witch and linked to treasonable activity. Mary Napier claimed to be pregnant at the time of her arrest. James wrote a court order to find out if Mary was pregnant and if she was not she was to be burned. Mary Napier was also a friend of Earl Bothwell’s and legend has it that James was willing to use witchcraft for political ends. Nonetheless, the court acquitted Mary Napier—much to the anger of James. #RandolphHarris 3 of 9

While the witches were accused of classic witchcraft, the main issues as far as James was concerned was the plan to murder him—treason. The trials also had a major political aspect as there was an attempt to incriminate Earl Bothwell in the proceedings. One theory put forward is that the whole story was a plot made up by those nobles in Scotland who wanted to devalue the standing of Earl Bothwell within Scotland—and expand theirs. In 1597, James felt sufficiently knowledgeable about witchcraft that he wrote “Daemonologie.” The book dealt with intellectual topics such as magic, sorcery, witchcraft, spirits, and ghost. There were 25 witchcraft trials a year from 1603 to 1625, nearly 450 total. Half of the witches accused were found guilty and executed. As society became more civilized and ancient texts were examined scholarly and in a critical manner, the discourse concluded with a refutation of the standard objections to freethinking. Atheism is not, after all, the worst of all evils; enthusiasm and superstition hold that title. #RandolphHarris 4 of 9

The connection between morality and theoretical science, namely, that theoretical science reflects moral practice. King James was really quick to distance himself as an expert of witches, ghost, and demons because England was viewed as more civilized of a society, where intellectual discussed issues of a philosophical nature—but that did not included witchcraft. For James, any association with the topic was seen as potential embarrassment. The classical conception of politics is to bring humans out a state of nature into a state of civil society. Essentially, political life is a process in which nonsocial community (i.e., the state of nature) is transformed into a social one. This cannot happen unless the rulers understand that social life is a life in which people freely engage in joint enterprises. Civilization is a process whereby a community undergoes a change from a condition of relative barbarity to one of civility. Barbarism is hostility to civilization; but although barbarous communities always strive to destroy civilized ones, in the long run the defeat of barbarism is certain. #RandolphHarris 5 of 9

The Bible, consequently, is not to be taken seriously when it portrays God in human terms; certain parts of the Bible are to be accepted, while others are to be rejected. When the Bible is thought to suggest that it is acceptable to murder or harm or to shun people who are good from society, this must be viewed as fraudulently when contrary to reason. The appeal to mystery and to things above reason simply will not do. The error detected was that what King James and others were doing was for speculative reasons, with no proof firmly established in reality, and it was alien to the mind of philosophers. Given any piece of evidence, more than one reconstruction can be made of the action of which it is a relic. However, each reconstruction, take together with other knowledge, will entail consequences different from those of its fellows. A given reconstruction is established if no consequence that can be drawn from it conflicts with the evidence and if every other reconstruction has some consequence that does conflict with it. If a historian cannot show that one reconstruction, and only one, can be reconciled with the evidence, one must suspend judgment. #RandolphHarris 6 of 9

To discover that an act took place includes discovering the thought expressed in the act; and discovering that thought explains the act. Why is one view of nature replaced by another? Natural science must come first in order that philosophy may have something to reflect on. Art is something preconceived. Works of art may be, and commonly are, also works of craft. However, what makes something a work of art and determines whether it is a good or bad one is not what makes it a work of craft. A work of art is an imaginative creation; the function of imagination is to raise what is preconscious (for instance, mere feeling) to consciousness by giving it definite form. Imagination and expression are identical. All expressions, in any medium, is linguistic; for any form by which the preconscious is raised to consciousness is linguistic. Language thus begins in the cradle. Children speak before they learn their mother tongues. The primitive language of the cradle has not yet officially been decoded, but we can get a sense of what infants and babies are singing and talking about; it must be enriched by intellectualizing it so that it can express thoughts as well as feelings. #RandolphHarris 7 of 9

An intellectualized language is one containing conceptual terms, and conceptual thinking is abstract. An intellectualized language does not cease to be expressive; rather its range of expressiveness is increased. Art is, therefore, not an activity cut off from, say, science. Every fresh linguistic utterance is imaginative and can be considered a work of art. There is poetry without prose, but no prose without poetry. And since it is the nature of art to be expressive, good art is successful expression. Bad art is the malperformance of the act of bringing preconscious thoughts and feelings to consciousness, a malperformance that misrepresents what is thought and felt. It can arise only in a corrupt consciousness. Critics can detect bad art, works of corrupt consciousness, by comparing them with successful works. Consciousness if a feeling and it belongs to a higher order. There is primitive consciousness, appetite, desire, free choice, and reason. One can become conscious of an act of consciousness by introspection or inner sense. All acts of consciousness are linguistic; mind is the child of language. #RandolphHarris 8 of 9

We are not here to work for God because we have chosen to do so, but because God has laid hold of us. Keep your soul steadfastly related to God, and remember that you are called not simply to conveys your testimony but also to preach the gospel. Every Christian must testify to the truth of God; there must be the loving grip of God’s hand on you. The fearful abounding at this time in this country, of these detestable slaves of the Devil, is weakening humanity and making them unfit, and making it abound in others, more than the ordinary course of nature would permit. And such like in all other particular sicknesses. However, I will pray thee to observe in all these places, where I reason upon the Devil’s power, which is the different ends and scopes, that God is the first cause, and the Devil as his instrument and second cause shoot at in all these actions of the Devil, (as Gods hang-man). For where the Devil’s intention in them is ever to perish, either the soul or the body, or both of the, that he is permitted to deal with: God by the contraries, draws every out the evil glory to himself, either by the wreck of the wicked in their injustice, or by the trial of the patient and amendment of the faithful, being waked up with that rod of correction.  #RandolphHarris 9 of 9
