God Still Remains the Most Original and Beautiful Expression
No suicides permitted here, and no smoking in the parlour. It is easy for us to lose ourselves in details in endeavoring to grasp and comprehend the real condition of a mass of human beings. We often forget that each unit in the mass is a throbbing human soul. To be a person is to have a status and worth that is unlike that of any other kind of being: it is a purpose or goal desired for its own sake with dignity. And the only response that is appropriate to such a being is respect. Respect (that is, moral recognition respect) is the acknowledgement in attitude and conduct of the dignity of persons as ends in themselves. Respect for such beings is not only appropriate to such a being, but also morally required: the status and worth of persons is such that they must always be respected. Because we are all too often inclined not to respect persons, not to value them as they ought to be valued, one formulation of the categorical imperative, which is the supreme principle of morality, commands that our actions express due respect for the worth of persons: Acts in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or the person of any other, as something that is valued and important. #RandolphHarris 1 of 7
Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in Heaven and on Earth, believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in Heaven and in Earth; believe that humans do not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that you must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask insincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that you do them. Our fundamental moral obligation, then, is to respect persons; morally right actions are thus those that express respect for persons because they are worthy of life and love, while morally wrong actions are those that express disrespect or contempt for persons by not valuing them as being worthy of life and love. As ideas of reason, God, freedom, and immortality are endless tasks for human activity. Alma 37.16 reports: if you keep the commandments of God, and do with these things which are sacred according to that which the Lord does command you (for you must appeal unto the Lord for all things whatsoever you must do with them) behold, no power of Earth or Hell can take them from you, for God is powerful to the fulfilling of his words. #RandolphHarris 2 of 7
In affirming the existence of God, the subject also affirms its own being, the innermost character of its own existing. The affirmation of God within human existence that constitutes the human subject cannot be a merely transitory relationship and that immorality is therefore the logical extension of the interior objectivity. Humans are allowed to maintain both their freedom and the efficacy of grace. Given the fact of God’s foreknowledge, although God knows infallible what an individual will do, such an infallible knowledge in no way determines the will of the will of the individual. The term person means a being whose rational nature already marks them out as being worthy of dignity and an object of respect. God wishes all people to be saved and he extends his grace to all. The value or worth of a person is, as of all other things, one’s price—that is to say, so much would be given for the use of one’s power—and therefore is not absolute, but a thing dependent on the need and judgment of another. However, the Spirit enlightens and gives understanding of the eternal purpose of life. A human being regarded as a person that is, as subject of morally practical reason, is exalted above all price as being worthy of love and life and possesses a dignity by which one exacts respect for oneself from all others beings in the World. #RandolphHarris 3 of 7
God foresees that some will cooperate with his grace and faith continues to have many supporters. Our great responsibility is to see that each is remembered and nourished by the good word of God, that each has opportunity for growth and expression and training in the work and ways of the Lord. It is our divine mission to assist in being to pass the immortality and eternal life of human beings. We must hunger and thirst after righteousness before we can be filled. We need to cultivate spiritual strength within ourselves before we can ever hope to engender it in others. Simply knowing about God and Jesus Christ is not enough, we must have personal, spiritual experiences to anchor us. These come through seeking them in the same intense, single-minded way that a starving person seeks food. The gaining of a strong and secure testimony is the privilege and opportunity of every individual member of the Church. Service in behalf of other, study, and prayer lead to faith in this work and then to knowledge of its truth. This has always been a personal pursuit, as it must always be in the future. Dignity is in comparable worth: it cannot be compared with, exchanged for, nor replaced by any other value, whereas the very purpose of a price is to establish comparative value. And dignity is absolute or objective worth, which means that it is a value that everyone has compelling reason to acknowledge, regardless of their antecedent desires, interest, or affections. We must always treat people as they are the supremely valuable beings that they are. We could not get along in life if we could not make use of the talents, abilities, service, and labor of other people. What we must not do is to treat persons as they are a commodity for our exploitation and personal pleasure, as if the only value they have is what derives from their usefulness to us. We must respect others and regard them as absolutely, unconditionally, and incomparably valuable and we must acknowledge in a practical way that their dignity imposes absolute constraints on our treatment of them. While creation is primarily an act of the divine will, so that things exist and are good because God wills them, creation is also a rational act based on the divine intellect. Our ultimate end consists in love of, rather than in knowledge of, God, for it is the will and not the intellect that is the superior power in a human. #RandolphHarris 5 of 7
If we are obedient to the Savior’s commands, we will focus our attention on the spiritual growth and development of those for whom we are responsible. We must away our interest to others. It is important to have an enthusiastic and dynamic love for our Heavenly Father’s children. He asks us to see the spiritual hunger around us and to respond by willingly sharing our abundance. No power on Earth can accomplish as much as one righteous man or woman or boy or girl. The home and family have vital roles in cultivating and developing personal faith and testimony. The family is the basic unit of society; the best place for individuals to build faith and strong testimonies is in righteous homes filled with love. Love for our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ is greatly enhanced when the gospel is taught and lived in the home. True principles of eternal life are embedded in the hearts and souls of young and antiquated alike when scriptures are read and discussed, when prayers are offered morning and night, and where reverence for God and obedience to him are modeled in everyday conduct. #RandolphHarris 6 of 7
Human intellect has a direct, intuitive knowledge of the singular material object, no merely indirect knowledge of it gained by reflecting upon the material image. You should understand that these things are not without a shadow. There is no home for the soul where dwells a shadow of untruth. Alma 37.21 & 22 reports: The mysteries and the works of darkness, and their secret works, or the secret works of people who have been destroyed, may be made manifest upon this people; all their murders, and robbings, and their plunderings, and all their wickedness and abominations, may be made manifest unto this people; and that you preserve in the face of these intruders. For behold, the Lord saw that his people began to work in darkness, work secret murders and abominations; therefore the Lord said, if they did not repent they should be destroyed from off the face of the Earth. The characteristics of religious life are an environment and expression of the higher life, they are of deep interest to the children of God, both socially and psychologically. All of this is a Free Gift to Every Living Soul
The Lord’s eternal purpose is to bring pass the immortality and eternal life of humans. The truth is always incredible, because the blind eyes of humanity can see only half-truths except be great effort. It is a hard thing to live haunted by the ghost of an untrue dream; to see the wide vision of empire fade into real ashes and dirt; to feel the pang of the conquered, and yet know that with the bad that fell on one day, something was vanquished that deserved to live, something killed that in justice had not dared to die; to know that with the right that triumphed, something of wrong, something sordid and mean, something less than the broadest and best. All this is bitter hard, and several people have found in its excuse for sulking, and brooding, and listless waiting. Many theories have been propounded through centuries, but none has been entirely satisfactory. We humans are limited in time and space, our perception and intellect are subject to error, our point of view limits what we can apprehend and understand. Therefore, no statement wears its truth like a badge; its truth can be determined only by what follows from it in the course of experience. The natural World we perceive through our senses (see, hear, touch) reveals only a fallen, shadow, incomplete versions of this ideal truth. #RandolphHarris 1 of 8
Truth is relative to the evidence and to the purpose of the investigator; no degree of verification will ever establish the absolute truth of a statement. Truth is personal and particular, dynamic and progression, not eternal or absolute, but the best solution found so far for any problem. That which thwarts or defeats the purpose of an inquiry we call false; that which furthers it we call true. Truth is that manipulation of objects which turns out upon trial to be useful, primarily for any human end, but ultimately for that perfect harmony of our whole life which forms our final aspiration. God created an ordered natural World. God also created human’s ability to use reason. Therefore, God created the human intellect and will, thus, celebrating and developing human freedom, intellect and will would promote God’s will. However, the World is still a fallen version of God’s eternal truths. All truths work for us in some way and there is no useless knowledge. However, lies are deliberately untrue but may be useful, as in propaganda. There is a shocking lack of self-respect by so many individual, as is evidenced by their manners and engulfing waves of permissiveness which seem to be moving over the World like a flush flood. #RandolphHarris 2 of 8
We see among us so many who seem to be forsaking standards of decency or an understanding of the meaning of time-honored words which, since the beginning of time, have had real meaning to our forebears; words that have made for strength or character and righteousness and harmony and unity and peace in the World. There are eternal words which, if understood and taught and practiced, would being salvation to every man, woman, boy, and girl who does now live or has ever lives or will yet live in the World. Happiness is the quiet, joyous assent that accompanies our actions when we carry out for its own sake some activity springing from our talents. This kind of activity is to be evaluated as ethically worthwhile behavior. The joy in such activity resembles the joy of a child at play, and should be regarded generally as the criterion for emotional and intellectual youthfulness. This youthfulness is not tied to physical age. Anyone who has found the activity proper to oneself, and has thus experienced this quiet, joyous happiness, has realized the highest attainable ethical goal and will keep one’s youthfulness throughout one’s entire life. Acting out of a sense of duty is ethically valuable only is a quiet satisfaction accompanies the action. Moral value attaches only to vital action; the sign of life is youthfulness, but we are young only when we act from joy. #RandolphHarris 3 of 8
When the quiet, inner joyous assent accompanies our action, we fulfill the requirements of the highest principles of ethical value. This inner consciousness that each one of us has of oneself as will is primitive and irreducible. Virtue and chastity, honesty, morality, faith, character are all great qualities which have built great men and women and point the way by which one may find happiness in the living World of today and eternal joy in the World to come. These are the qualities which are the anchors to our lives, in spite of the trials, the tragedies, the pestilences, and the cruelties of war which bring in their wake appalling destruction, hunger, and bloodshed. The will reveals itself immediately to everyone as the in-itself of one’s own phenomenal being and the awareness we have of ourselves as will is quite different from the awareness we have of ourselves as body. To those who fail to heed the warnings of those who are striving to teach these principles and choose to go in the opposite course, they will eventually find themselves in the pitiable state which you are witnessing so often among us. Human nature as manifested an astonishing prescience. We customarily think of ourselves as being essentially free and rational agents, whereas in fact the principal sources and springs of our conduct consist in deep-lying tendencies and drives of whose character we are often wholly unaware. #RandolphHarris 4 of 8
Consciousness is the mere surface of our mind, of which, as of the Earth, we do not know the inside, but only the crust, and in consequence we often put entirely false constructions upon the behavior in which these basic impulses are expressed. The ignorance we display, the rationalizations which in all innocence we provide, may themselves have a motive, although not one we are aware of. Thus, the will prevents the rise to consciousness of thoughts and desires that, if known, would arouse feelings of humiliation, embarrassment, or shame. Another example of the same process is to be found in instances of memory failure. It is not a mere accident that we do not remember certain things, since there may be powerful inducement for us not to do so; events and experiences can be completely suppressed, becoming for us as if they had never taken place, simply because unconsciously we feel them to be unendurable. And in extreme cases this can lead to a form of insanity, with fantasies and delusions replacing what has thus been extruded from consciousness. It seems it may result from the failure of the individual to have self-respect. Every person stamps one’s value on oneself. The price we challenge for ourselves is given us by others. It may be claimed that it is only in virtue of our knowledge of what is it to act in accordance with consciously formed choices that the explanation of certain actions in terms of secret or concealed determinations of the will becomes intelligible. When one does not have that love for oneself, other consequences can be expected to follow. Some people cease to love life. Or if they marry, they find that they have lost their love for their spouse, and children—no love of home or respect for the country in which one lives, and eventually these individuals have lost their love of God. Rebellion in land, disorder and the lack of love in the family, children disobedient to parents, loss of contact with God, all because that person has lost respect for oneself. The rowdiness, the incorrigibility is more often than not a bid for a kind of attention or popularity that physical and mental endowments do not invite. So the unruly people are often but a reflection of an individual who is seek, by superficial adornment or by abnormal conduct (in a strange way), to supply that indefinable quality they may think is charm—a clumsy attempt to draw attention by conduct which certainly reflect that inward frustration because of the lack of understanding of their true identity as human beings. #RandolphHarris 6 of 8
However, having been spirits and now having bodies, we are among those who passed that first test and were given the privilege of coming to Earth as mortal individuals. If we had not passed that test, we would not be were with mortal bodies, but would have been denied this privilege and would have followed Satan or Lucifer, as he came to be known, as did thirty three percent of the spirits created in that premortal existence who were deprived of the privilege of having mortal bodies, These are now among us, but only in their spiritual forms, to make a further attempt to thwart the plan of salvation by which all who would obey would have the great glory of returning to God our Father who gave us life. Every person who is called to do an important work in the kingdom of God, is called to that work and foreordained to that work before the World was. You are all the sons and daughter of God. You are now born into a family to which you have come, into the nations through which you have come, as a reward for the kind of lives you lived before you came here. Regardless of how rich or whatever, it is a blessing to be in human form. There are spirits who wish they could have a chance to have a mortal body. We are here because of the faithfulness of each of those who lived before this World was created. The goal directed course of living processes arise out of the meaningful arrangement of these systems, and their structure and behavior are explained by strictly causal natural laws, making unnecessary the assumption of immaterial vital forces. However, some have a pessimistic view of the future development of culture. It is feared that people will become part of a machines, a socialized humanoid—organized for common work down to the last detail, but, as in the early ages, without a history. “Do you know that the temple of God dwells in you? If anyone defile the temple of God, one shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which your temple is,” reports (1 Cor. 3.16-17). It is important to help people to moral regeneration, if possible, to restore one’s self-respect. God is powerful to the fulfilling of all his words. #RandolphHarris 8 of 8
Our Sure Knowledge of a Resurrection to Immortality
Resurrection is much more than merely reuniting a spirit to a body. The resurrection is a restoration that brings back carnal for carnal and good for that which is good. I am not the one who is so far away, when I feel the snake bite enter my veins, never did I want to be here again, and I do not remember why I came. Who is this irresistible creature, who has an insatiable lust for the dead? Living dead girl. Candles raise my desire why I am so far away, no more meaning to my life, no more reason to stay. Freezing feeling. Hazing clouds rain on my head, as empty thoughts fills my ears, and find my shade by the moon light. Why my thoughts are not so clear? Demons dreaming. Breathe in, breathe in because I am coming back again. Never did I want to, did I want to be here again. You know I cannot believe you, all the things you say, they are not true. However, I fear I cannot just leave you. All I feel is that I need you my love. This is all my spirit can take, anymore and I will surely meet decay. Will you not reach out and touch my heartache, feel it beating, please do not throw it away. I cannot believe your careless speech, your burning eyes, pass through me. Our sure knowledge of a resurrection to immortality also gives us the courage to face the unknown. Baby girl you know that I need you, cannot believe that you would leave me this way. And I said unto them, why are you troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Despite these Biblical witnesses, many who call themselves Christian reject or confess serious doubts about the reality of the resurrection. The possibility that a mortal who has died will be brought forth and live again in a resurrected body has awakened hope and stirred controversy through much of recorded history. Relying on clear scriptural teachings, it has been affirmed that God has broken the bands of death and that death is swallowed up in the victor. We readily accept the numerous scriptural doctrines that a similar resurrection will come to all mortals who have ever lived upon this Earth. The spirit and the body shall be reunited again in its perfect form; both limb and joint shall be restored to its proper frame, even as we now are at this time; now, this restoration shall come to all, both antiquated and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous; and even there shall not be so much as a hair of their heads be lost; but everything shall be restored to its perfect frame. We should all praise God for the assured resurrection that makes our mortal separations temporary and gives us the hope and strength to carry on. #RandolphHarris 3 of 6
Many living witnesses can testify to the literal fulfillment of these scriptural assurances of the resurrection. Many, including some in my own extended family, have seen a departed loved one in vision or personal appearance and have witnessed their restoration in proper and perfect frame in the prime of life. Whether these were manifestations of persons already resurrected or of righteous spirits awaiting an assured resurrection, the reality and nature of the resurrection of mortals is evident. What a comfort to know that all who have been disadvantaged in life from birth defects, from mortal injuries, from disease, or from the natural deterioration of antiquated age will be resurrected in proper and perfect frame. For thou who sleeps in stone and clay, heed this call, rise up and obey, trek on through the mortal door, assemble flesh and be raised in immortality unto eternal life, reunite the spirit and the body. This is the great and eternal plan of deliverance from death. In our eternal journey, the resurrection is the mighty milepost that signifies the end of mortality and the beginning of immortality. We are living in a glorious season of temple and this is a consequence of our faith in resurrection. May our understanding be enlarged. #RandolphHarris 4 of 6
It will here be objected that this is the well-known hysterical imitation, the ability of hysterical subjects to imitate all the symptoms which impress them when they occur in others, as though pity were aroused to the point of reproduction. This, however, only indicates the path which the psychic process follows in hysterical imitation. But the path itself and the psychic act which follows this path are two different matters. The act itself is slightly more complicated than we are prone to believe the imitation of the hysterical to be; it corresponds to an unconscious end-process, as an example will show. The physician who has, in the same ward with other patients, a female patient suffering from a particular kind of twitching, is not surprised if one morning he learns that this peculiar hysterical affection has found imitators. He merely tells himself: The others have seen her, and have imitated her; this is psychic infection. The is how the psychic infection happens. One of them has an attack today: at once it is known to the rest that a letter from home, a recrudescence of lovesickness, or the like, is the cause. Their sympathy is aroused, and although it does not emerge into consciousness they form the following conclusion: If it is possible to suffer such an attack; but it is formed in another psychic region, and consequently ends in the realization of the dreaded symptoms. Thus identification is not mere imitation, but an assimilation based upon the same etiological claim; it expresses a just like, and refers to some common condition which has remained in the unconscious. In hysteria identification is most frequently employed to express a sexual community. The hysterical woman identifies herself by her symptoms most readily—though not exclusively—with persons with whom she has had sexual relations, or who have had sexual intercourse with the same persons as herself. We believe in the literal, universal resurrection of all humankind because of the resurrection of the Holy One called The Living Christ—the immortal Son of God. The Human Heart is so Fond of Happiness
The human heart is so fond of happiness, that we give easy credit to what we wish. Happy are they who are blessed with the power of making happy. When I was a child, I remember my parents would take me and my sister Toy R Us, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. We would pull up and see the colourful letters on the building all lite up, bright and glittering. Then the interior of the store was bright and smelled good and as we walked through the door, we were greeted by Geoffrey and then were allowed to go pick out a toy or two. Opening the toys and the smell of the plastic was always a joy. It was fun to go through this big amusement park of toys, the shelves were so tall, and there was every toy a child could ever dream of and the people are the cash register were always nice and smiled. My dad used to say, “I see the light shining in your faces. That light comes from the Lord, and as you radiate that light, it will bless you and many others.” Nevertheless, I was so sad to hear that Toy R Us is going bankrupt and the younger generation of children will not get this same opportunity. They are losing business because people are ordering things online instead of going to the store and buying them. #RandolphHarris 1 of 8
I do not think patience is something that any of us grow up with in a large dose. It is a World of instant gratification. Nothing is more idle than to inquire after happiness, which nature has kindly placed within our reach. Instead gratification is great, especially when it is for good behavior. A dream is a wish fulfilled. There was this intelligent lady patient, and she had a dream where her wish was not fulfilled. She wanted to give a supper, but had nothing available except some smoked salmon. So, she thought about going shopping, but then remembered it was a Sunday afternoon, when all the shops were closed. The lady then tried to ring up a few caterers, but the telephone was out of order. Accordingly, she had to renounce her desire to give a supper. The human mind, in its eager, though too often unavailing, struggle for happiness, will still make the most of its means. Agreeable circumstances, arising in a disagreeable prospect, convey the greatest happiness that can be imagined. #RandolphHarris 2 of 8
These are people of great promise. They have much to do in their lives. They will do great work in their homes, in the Church, and in the community. The patient’s husband, an honest and capable meat salesman, had told her the day before that he was growing too fat, and that he meant to undergo treatment for obesity. He would rise early, take physical exercise, keep to a strict diet, and above all accept no more invitations to supper. She proceeds jestingly to relate how her husband, at a table d’hote, had made the acquaintance of an artist, who insisted upon painting his portrait, because he, the painter, had never seen such an expressive head. However, her husband had answered in his downright fashion, that while he was much obliged, he would rather not be painted; and he was quite convinced that a bit of a pretty young girl’s posterior would please the artist better than his whole face. (To sit for the painter. And if he has no backside, how can the nobleman sit?) She is very much in love with her husband, and teases him a good deal. She has asked him not to give her any caviar. To do all of this, one needs to develop a testimony and have faith in Christ, to focus on Christ rather than the World. They are righteous children of God, and he loves them and want to help them. As a matter of fact, she had wanted for a long time to eat a caviare sandwich every morning, but had grudged the expense. Of course, she could get the caviar from her husband at once is she had asked for it. However, she has, on the contrary, begged him not to give her any caviar, so that she might tease him about it a little longer. However, this explanation seems thin. Unconfessed motives are wont to conceal themselves behind just such unsatisfying explanations. We are reminded of the subjects hypnotized by Bernheim, who carried out a post-hypnotic order, and who, on being questioned as to their motives, instead of answering: “I do not know why I did that,” had to invent a reason that was obviously inadequate. There is probably something similar to this in the case of the patient’s caviar. It is clear that in waking life she is compelled to invent an unfulfilled wish. Her dream also shows her the non-fulfillment of her wish. However, why does she need an unfulfilled wish? #RandolphHarris 4 of 8
One wants to make their own decisions, but one ought to make those decisions with an eternal perspective. These allegations just recently made the celebrity gossip news and online fan magazines, and they are false. Elsie Hewitt is known for being manipulative and cunning. This is why we are increasingly concerned about the destruction that pornography is causing in the lives of Church members and their families. Satan is attacking us with unprecedented fury. One reason we are here on Earth is to learn to manage the passions and feelings of our mortal bodies. These God-given feelings help us want to marry and have children. The intimate marriage relationship between a loving couple that brings children into mortality is also meant to be a beautiful, loving experience that binds together two devoted hearts, unites both spirit and body, and brings a fulness of joy and happiness as we learn to put each other first. I was deeply disturbed when I got home and had accidentally seen startling and disturbing images and actions of Elise Hewitt on my computer after doing an internet search. I felt horrible about what I had seen and wished I could get it out of my mind. However, I was grateful that I could confide in a member of the church, she was able to sooth my innocent and aching heart and helped me know how to get relief through our Savior’s Atonement. Then I saw him again the next day 5 July 2017, at about 8pm, and he was on his way home. It is more likely that a jealous friend and the gossip magazines conjured up this assault allegation to ruin Ryan Phillippe’s life and career. Elsie Hewitt is unknown and she is trying to use Ryan Phillippe’s name to launch her career. Ryan Phillippe is a pretty peaceful guy and he actually seems kind of shy. He tends to keep to himself and like to be quiet. He enjoys time to himself and does not socialize too much. Since his divorce from the beautiful Oscar winning actress Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Philippe has been heartbroken and likes the single life and he has not been in a relationship for a while. He says that the mother of his children is the second most beautiful and talented woman he knows, second to his mother, and that most women are not cut from the same cloth. Elise has an inflated sense of herself. She craves approval, and is highly sensitive to criticism, and tries very hard to perform in bed. This is especially turn during the initial phases of a relationship with her clients, when she is seeking to impress them and win them over. Many man mistake Elise’s elaborate performance for true passion, but she is merely acting. However, after a while some men catch on. Inevitably, they can tell something is missing in her performance—the genuine human emotions. Her clients can tell by her style of love making that she does not really have an interest in her partner and that they are nothing more than an object to her. Elise lets her guard down and the caring, passion, tenderness, and vulnerability tends to seem as artificial as her breast. These are qualities that can only come from the heart. It is more than likely, if Elise Hewitt was assaulted, it by one of her clients she manipulated with her sexual prowess. She fools men into believing that she is interested in them, but only wants to extract money for them, and perhaps one of them was deeply offended when they found out about the army of men, and sometimes women, leaving her bed chambers. Many children, youth, and adults are innocently exposed to pornography, but a growing number of both men and women are choosing to view it and are drawn back repeatedly until it becomes an addiction. She uses her body to make money and traps men for profit. We need to counsel with our children, families, and youth on an ongoing basis, listening with love and understanding. Young people and adults, if you are caught in Satan’s trap of pornography, remember how merciful our beloved Savior is. Do you realize how deeply the Lord loves and cherishes you, even now? Our Savior has the power to cleanse and heal you. He can remove the pain and sorrow you feel and make you clean again through the power of his atonement. If you are free of serious sin yourself, do not suffer needlessly the consequences of another’s sins. You can feel compassion, but you should not take upon yourself a feeling of responsibility for those acts. Know that you are not alone. There is help. We pray that Elise Hewitt will seek addiction recovery and that the Lord will show her the error of her ways. When we face challenges with life, and are desperate for help, we pray and plead to the Lord. In my home, our focus has become talk, rejoice, peach, and testify of Christ by striving to pray daily and study the scriptures and have weekly family home evening. Frequently, I am up praying from midnight until four in the morning because it is that serious to me. These are the very practices that help take away stress, give direction in our lives, and adds protection to our home. Then, if pornography or others challenges like Elsie Hewitt strike our family, we can petition the Lord for help and expect great guidance from the Spirit, knowing that we have done what our Father has asked us to do. With purity of heart, we reflect the Savior’s love and give others a glimpse of Heaven. There is only pure knowledge in God. Knowledge does not exist for its own sake (that is, for the purpose of contemplation) but always aims at the pragmatic reconstruction of being itself. Sometimes we feel discouraged because we are not more of something—more spiritual, respected, intelligent, healthy, rich, friendly, or capable. Naturally, there is nothing wrong with wanting to prove. God created us to grow and progress. However, remember, our deficits can help us to be humble and turn to Christ, who will make weak things become strong. Satan, on the other hand, uses our weaknesses to the point that we are discouraged from even trying. He has sent people wooing false gods and invoking false means of salvation, and at times has even seemed to make them ashamed of themselves. The Nation has not yet found peace from its sins; the people have not yet found their freedom in the promised land. Whatever of good may have come in these years of change, the shadow of a deep disappointment rests upon the people. Essence, is an immanent consciousness of our experience. It is a realm of being and value which is in basis and origin utterly different from the whole reaming empirical World. Although knowledge of essences is acquired by observing even a single real or imaginary object, God sees us as his sons and daughters, as beings of eternal light with everlasting potential and with a divine destiny. Ultimate being is presumed to contain rational power and an infinite spirit as well as an irrational driving force that appears in the life cycle of individuals. Just as the macrocosm is a replica of the microcosm, so are humans a microtheos, a miniature God, and is thereby the primary source of the access to God. Genesis 1.27 reports: So, God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Just think about that for a moment. That is very powerful. God’s greatest desire is for you to see a clear picture of his character. When you see God clearly, you will find his love irresistible. God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in his being. He stands for wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. In our hearts, we know that is true, and God makes no mistakes. There is absolutely no sin nor evil thought in God at all. He is perfection and moral purity. God possesses perfect knowledge and is all-knowing, his knowledge is infinite. Everything that God has promised will come to pass. His faithfulness guarantees this fact. God is the truth. This is extremely important for us to understand because it is on God’s faithfulness that our hope of eternal life rests. He will honor his promise that our sins will be forgiven, as long as we repent, and we will live forever with him. The metaphysis of salvation is therefore a kind of meta-anthropology. Understanding of God—the ground of being—is to be achieved not through theoretical contemplation, but through active commitment. All people share in the divine nature; they sense it in the drive of sympathy and love toward oneness with the Universe, which is the way to God. Human beings are thus a cocreator with God. The Savior’s sacrifice opened the door of salvation for all to return to God. His grace is sufficient for all who humble themselves before God. His grace is the enabling power that allows access into God’s kingdoms of salvation. Because of his grace, we will all be resurrected and saved in a kingdom of glory. In the celestial kingdom, we receive of God’s fullness, and of his glory. Indeed, all that the Father has shall be given unto us. Exaltation is our goal; discipleships is our journey. Through the phenomenological approach to ethics and to values in general—this is, the description of the ethical states of consciousness and of existence. As we exercise a little faith and begin our walk as peaceable followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, our hearts will change, and our whole being will be filled with light. Joy about good news, for instance, is an experience with a subjective as well as an objective pole. The object of that experience is seen as a good thing, which instantiates a value. It follows that there are such things as cognitive emotions and that they point to certain real objects. Some values are experiences as having characteristics that might best be described and evoked by the word eternal. God will help us become something greater than we ever thought possible, and we will discover that the gospel of Jesus Christ is indeed working in our lives. It is true. We may understand another’s emotion, and even feel empathy or experience the contagion of his or her feeling, or we may feel as one with another individual, that is, feel totally identifies. In none of these instances do we feel sympathy. Authentic sympathy is not the experience of fusion; it recognizes, meets, and respects unequivocally the subjectivity of another human existence in a genuine encounter. To love is to experience spontaneously the movement from a lower to a higher value in the object loved, an experience that leads to sudden intimation of the object’s superior value. Love is the adumbration of human possibilities; it is thus the sine qua non (an essential condition; a thing that is absolutely necessary) for sympathy and the basis for the religious ideal of infinite compassion and unqualified acceptance. God’s love affects the way we live. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul and love your neighbor as you love yourself. God loves us even when we choose to reject his love. We should focus on the simplicity that is in Christ and allow his grace to life and carry us during our journey from where we are now to our glorious destiny in our Heavenly Father’s presence. We have direct, immediate, and primary access to the minds of other people. Careful description of our consciousness of other bodies discloses that we experience directly the other’s pain in his or her tears and embarrassment in his or her blushing, even though there is in addition an inaccessible area (Intimsphare) in every person’s soul. Phenomenological analysis of the structure of experience also discloses that we are confronted by a neutral sea of being and that the process of judging data to be either subjective or objective is a constitutive act of our ego. May we choose to serve righteous cause as valiant emissaries of our Lord Jesus Christ, and remain pure in heart, and love the Lord and serve him, even amid our own trials. We must love one another and see in one another the beauty of the soul. Remember, the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. The phenomenology of religion seeks to understand the ultimate nature of the divine, to study its manifestations in the World of human concerns, and to explore religion through an analysis of the act of faith. Proof of the existence of God must make allowances for direct intuitive manifestations (Aufweis). We are in search of an infinity, traditionally called God. Humans are God-seekers (Gottsucher). This search lead human beings to an ineffable numinous experience of an ultimate Personality, appropriately described as ens a se, being in itself, which has qualities that can be described metaphorically in the usual religious doctrines, rituals, and legends. God meets us half way in response to faith. Divine attributes are absoluteness, infinite goodness, infinite power, holiness, spirituality, and personality. Crucial to the religious experience is a feeling that human beings are nothing at all (Nichtigkeit). This so-called creature feeling (Geschopflichkeit) is the experience of direct contact with the source of one’s being; it is the feeling of infinite dependence (Gewirktheitserlebnis). We have no choice; we are coerced into responding religiously because the salvation of our souls is no matter to gamble with. #RandolphHarrus 8 of 9
We have a divine nature, and each have a glorious work to do. If we do so authentically we face God (Gott); it not, we face an idol (Gotze). Religious rituals, such as prayer, contrition, reverence, and strongly held spiritual beliefs well up from within our deepest nature. That a response to these states can be experiences—a response which does not come from the World of everyday experience—is presumably a fact of both historical and personal awareness. We may discover our individual and eternal worthy by acting in accordance with our divine purpose in mortality. As we follow the example of Jesus Christ and love God, and serve one another with kindness and compassion, we may stand in purity, blameless before God at the last day. We choose to serve the Lord in his righteous cause that we may become one with the Father and with the Son. We embark in the service of God with heart, might, mind, and strength. We receive the Holy Ghost and seek his promptings to guide our efforts. Righteousness emanates out to the World when we understand what God wants us to do and then we do it. What Shall We Do About It?
A succession of small successfully kept promises leads to integrity. As we keep our promises, we feel the Spirit in our lives. Experience is not just an aggregate of heterogeneous items of mental content, but a structured whole whose two poles are pure consciousness, as a constitutive, meaning-conferring activity, and the World, conceived as the transcendent correlate of these intentional acts of consciousness. Between many of us and the World there is ever an unmasked question: unasked by some through feelings of delicacy; by others through the difficulty of rightly framing it. All, nevertheless, flutter round it. Why did God make some of us outcast and strangers in our own house? Many people feel different from others in heart and life and longing; shut out from the vast World by a veil. However, over the years, as we mature, all this fine contempt begins to fade for the Worlds we long for, and all its dazzling opportunities becomes more appealing. We want to use our best powers and latent genius. These powers of body and mind have in the past been strangely wasted, dispersed, or forgotten. The powers flashed here and there like falling stars, and died sometimes before the World had rightly gauged their brightness. #RandolphHarris 1 of 9
Intellectual work is misnamed; it is a pleasure, a dissipation, and its own highest reward. Aspirations of human beings runs so deep as to be virtually definitive of what it is to be a human being: the aspiration to find one’s own individual being in a rational necessity of some sort. The innate love of harmony and beauty that set the souls of people forward with strength and courage is pure consciousness. To teach and help raise a sin-resistant generation might strike a deep spiritual cord within you. We have a master concept of human existence in the Holy Bible, which teaches us about the total human reality. Life must be treated as a spontaneous activity of consciousness and not as something that is passively suffered or undergone. Emotion is in fact not a physiological phenomenon, but a certain total mode of relating oneself to the World; its peculiar strategy is that of a magical transformation of given situations that bypass the necessity for dealing with them by rational, step-by-step methods. Thus, sadness makes the World appear sad so that it offers no opening to our efforts to change it, and in this way it justifies our passivity by making purposeful effort seems pointless. #RandolphHarris 2 of 9
This self-imposed passivity is called a degradation of consciousness, a concept which is a clear forerunner of the bad faith that figures so largely with people who have lost confidence in humanity. How can emotion (or any other mental function) be interpreted as a spontaneous and purposive activity without attributing an intolerably sophisticated kind of self-consciousness to those who have the emotion? We have to set up an intermediate kind of self-awareness between explicit or reflective consciousness of self (as when I am writing and think to myself, I am writing) and events of which we are completely unconscious (for example, the circulation of the blood). This intermediary is exemplified by the awareness that I have of what I am doing—my intention—while I am doing. This is what is known as a non-positional consciousness and the strategies of action, such as those which are taken to be characteristic of the emotions, can be attributed to it without any of the incongruities that would result is explicit or verbal self-awareness were required. #RandolphHarris 3 of 9
We honor people who strive to live pure and obedient lives. The strength of many people throughout the World is resilient, steadfast, and immovable in a variety of challenging circumstances and environments. These people with pure consciousness understand their divine identity, feel the Heavenly Father’s love for them, and seek to obey his will. The human consciousness is free because it is forced to think of itself as—and this is—other than the World and unincorporable into any casual sequences it may discern within the World. The feeling of anguish is our experience of this freedom. There who are susceptible to negativity. People who do not have the proper influences in their lives and their minds are being wounded, and are in need of some reinforcement and support. There is kind of a reality-negating function which is happening in some families and in the community where people in positions of authority are knowingly setting bad examples by telling others to fight certain individuals and making them feel that it is okay to do drugs and drink liquor, and it is not. Many attempt to conceal with freedom from themselves by a variety of devices, the most typical of which is belief in some form of psychological determinism. #RandolphHarris 4 of 9
All of these efforts are doomed to failure because human beings can try to conceal their freedom only to the extent that they recognize it. The attempt succeeds only in producing a paradoxical internal duality of consciousness in which consciousness thinks of itself as a thing at the same time that it gives recognition to its freedom. This state, which has to be carefully distinguished both from lying to others and from the Freudian conception of a manipulation of consciousness by subconscious forces called bad faith. Its antithesis is an acceptance of one’s own freedom and a recognition that human beings are the absolute origin of, and are solely responsible for, their own acts. When you are planning to mug someone or rob a business, how do you get past all the thoughts telling you that what you are about to do is very, very wrong? How is it that criminals who carry out immoral acts day after day manage to convince themselves that they are actually rational people? To be a career criminal, you either have to be a master of self-deception, or genuinely just do not care. The majority of criminals either make excuses for, or attempt to justify, their actions. #RandolphHarris 5 of 9
There is little evidence that criminals make justifications prior to committing the crimes, so it is possible—and somewhat likely—that they are conjured up afterwards as a way to mitigate the guilt. Criminals use a technique called neutralization theory. By using the neutralization theory, criminals are able to ignore values that would otherwise prohibit them from carrying our certain acts by: denial of responsibility, denial of injury, denial of the victim, condemnation of the condemners, and appealing to higher loyalties. This impossible combination of being-for-itself and being-in-itself, and in this impossibility is the ultimate reason for the hopeless character of these human enterprises (which is an attempt to make oneself God). And there is no way you can teach these people why what they are doing is wrong because they know and do not care and they will repeat the behavior until they have achieved their objective or are punished by the law. Their life-attitudes are self-contradictory because they are making an effort to achieve the status of a thing while remaining a consciousness that contemplates itself as a thing. #RandolphHarris 6 of 9
However, their effort to convince themselves that they are God must fail, or while human beings (in most cases) are absolutely responsible for their choices, their existence is not the result of conscious choice. It is simply a fact, and it is uneliminable contingency makes it impossible for human beings to be ontologically self-sufficient in the way that God must be. These criminals often justify their wrong doings to others, including attempted murder or murder, by blaming corrupt politicians, police, and society. They also convince themselves that the ends justify the means by saying their victims deserved it or were asking for it, and they keep telling themselves that they are doing good and being successful, and repeat it so many times that they actually believe it. They treat them crimes as a skill and it helps them mitigate feelings of guilt. In their minds, it legitimizes the behavior. Criminals may view themselves as skilled entrepreneurs rather than someone who made a living by committing immoral acts. Alma 8.11 reports: We do not believe in such foolish traditions. We have enlisted in the cause of Christ to withstand the powers of Lucifer. We need to strengthen our spiritual strategies. #RandolphHarris 7 of 9
Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. We must teach people to become sin-resistant by teaching ourselves and others to understand the doctrine of repentance, faith in Christ the Son of the living God, and to pray and to walk uprightly before the Lord. The Spirit will inspire us in the most effective ways we can spiritually inoculate our children. Being sin-resistant means being continually repentant, vigilant, and valiant. To help people become sin-resistant, we have to lovingly infuse them with the respect of the law and to honor God and want to be honest and understand that it is important to be on a high moral level, even when no one is paying attention to their behavior because God sees everything and will judge us for our actions. Keeping commitments prepares people to make and keep sacred covenants. When we talk about covenant keeping, we are talking about the heart and soul of our purpose in mortality. There is unusual power in making and keeping covenants with our Heavenly Father. The consummate reward of integrity is the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Out of the well of integrity springs an empowered sin-resistant generation. The youth are great imitators, so we have to give them something great to imitate. True moral freedom is now projected into a future that will not be realized until the dialectic of human antagonism has run its course, and of this future we are indeed helping to teach and raise a sin-resistant generation unto the Lord promise by promise and covenant by covenant. We need to take a conscientious effort to devote our energy and time to the things that truly matter, while we uplift others and build the kingdom of God. Hearing the word of God with earnest intent leads us to believe in God and to trust his promises. The more we trust God, the more our hearts are filled with love for him and for each other. Because we love God, we want to serve him; we want to bless the lives of others and help the poor and needy. The more we walk in this path of discipleship, the more we desire to learn the word of God fillings us with ever-increasing faith, hope and charity. There will always be something worth living for while there are shimmery afternoons. Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Do not wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it is at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored. Pause for a moment an enjoy the elegant show window of a prestigious furniture store. Let the beautifully designed sofa, and the comfortable-appearing chairs and the coffee table catch your eyes. Gaze at the amazing chandelier positioned overhead, and let your eyes rest as you image yourself relaxing with the evening paper. Each person is passionate about his or her own projects and is primarily interested in cultivating them with the minimum outside interference. To some extent, modern humans are capable of governing themselves, but their individual resources are insufficient. In order to prevent constant collision and frustration, some agency is required which will supervise a set of rules that is designed simply to serve this limited purpose. #RandolphHarris 1 of 11
The image of the perfect ruler that of the umpire or referee who controls the game without participating in it himself or herself is the ideal protector of humanity. There will also be times when you will have to demonstrate your righteous courage in plain view of your peers, the consequences of which may be ridicule and embarrassment. Additionally, in your World, skirmishes with an adversary will also be fought on a silent, solitary battlefield in front of a screen. The political skeptic of government warns against the tendency of the specific activity of government to turn into something more grandiose and quite different. For there are many who dream of a perfectly harmonious condition of affairs and who deplore the waste and lack of planning in modern life. Such people regard the government as a vast reservoir of powers that are to be captured and guided in the direction of their own political dream. Politics thus becomes an encounter of dreams, and the umpire abandons his or her position and begins to play the game on his or her own account. In life, as in business, there has always been a need for those persons who could be called finishers. From the very beginning to the present time, a fundamental question remains to be answered by each of us who runs the race of life. Shall I falter or shall I finish? On the answer await the blessings of joy and happiness here in mortality and eternal life in the World to come. For the skeptical conservative, one dream is on par with any other. Governments are not, and cannot be expected to become, repositories of truth: any such claims are impostures. A government that actually governs, rather than imposing some dream or other upon its subjects, will be guided, not by a vision of truth, nor by the attempt to impose one project upon its subjects, but by the evolution of the society it rules. Social life constantly generates new situations: some activities decline and new ones arise, a process which requires an adaption of the rules governing the society. However, the changes in the rules should always grow out of, rather than be imposed upon, the life which they regulate. Frequent changes are deplorable in that they give rise to feverish hopes and disappointments which encourage further dreams of taking over the resources of government. All human achievements have been made (and sustained) in the face of great difficulties: authorities exist to guard such achievements and traditions against the continual threat of human folly, laziness, blindness, and stupidity. Conservatism stresses our responsibilities to our duties rather than on rights. We are not left without guidance to make this momentous decision. The Holy Bible contains those accounts, even those lessons, which, if carefully learned, will serve us well and be as a beacon light to guide our thoughts and influence our actions. As we read, we sympathize with those who falter. We honor those who finish. The moment God put a dream in your heart, the moment the promise took root, God not only started it, but he set a completion date. God is called the Author and the Finisher of our Faith. God is telling you do not let lies play around in your mind. Your dream is not over. Keep thinking about the details of what you want. God set a completion date. It does not matter how long it has been or how impossible it looks. If you will stay in faith and not talk yourself out of it, it is just a matter of time before your dreams come true. Just because it has not happened yet does not mean it is not going to happen. God has already lined up the right people, the right opportunities, the right answers. Everything you need is already in your future. Let go of the doubt, shake off the discouragement. Whether it has been a year or one hundred and twenty-two years, what God promised you he still has every intention of bringing it to pass. In the Scripture, it reports that the Holy Spirit revealed to a man called Simeon that: he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah (Luke 2.26). You can image how far out that promise seemed. As time went by, and Simeon did not see any sign of the Messiah, negative thoughts came: “You heard God wrong. It has been too long. Nevertheless, Simeon awakened every morning believing, expecting, and knowing that it would happen, and one day it did. The promise came to a dramatic fulfillment and Simeon declared, “My eyes have seen God’s salvation!” I am keeping the faith that my dream will come true. I want a house just like Darrin and Samantha Stephens from Bewtiched, and exact replica down to the furniture and appliances, the only difference is I want a turret with a witches cap. And God is saying to all of us, in reference to our dreams, science does not matter, have faith and know that he is going to finish what he started. No one and nothing can stop God from fulfilling his promises. And God put that promise of that house in my heart as a kid. God promised to bring even the secret petitions of our hearts to completion. Some will try to push us down, steal our dreams, and talk us into settling for mediocrity, but we need to have this new attitude and believe that whatever God started in our lives, he will finish. Samantha had no idea that she would ever meet Darrin, that they would get married, but they kept bumping into each other. One day, he came home from work and told her that he no longer wanted to live in someone else’s house with furnishings and curtains they picked out, and surprised her with a house he bought while she thought he was at work. Lust of power, greed of popularity, and disdain for honor have every appeared as faces of failure in the panorama of life. Captivated by their artificial attraction, many noble souls have stumbled and fallen, thus losing the crown of victory reserved for the finisher of life’s great journey. We cannot impress upon you enough, it is best to be popular with God because eternal life is important. There is more to come after life on Earth and you do not want to spend your eternity in Hell. The damned do further evil in Hell. By doing further evil, they lose more being. The damned are confined in different places according to the second nature that they have acquired for themselves. Those, for example, who have given into wrath during their Earthly lives will be consigned to a place with like-minded people. The damned can then act according to their second nature and the sufferings and pain which they undergo emerge from their behaviour, as well as the behaviour and acts of others around them. So, people who are wrathful in their Earthly life, will be attacked and torn apart by others wrathful people. The damned cannot affect anyone with their evil actions as long as the person affected are the damned and so no further evil done. Though Jesus was tempted by the evil one, he resisted. Though he was hated, he loved. Though he was betrayed, he triumphed. Not in a cloud of glory or chariot of fire was Jesus to depart mortality, but with his arms outstretched in agony upon a cruel cross. Mortality ended. Immortality began. Times change, circumstances vary, but the true marks of a finisher remain. Know them well, for they are vital to our success. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in humans. Recognize that faith and doubt cannot exist in the same mind at the same time, for one will dispel the other. Let virtue garnish your thoughts unceasingly. Courage becomes a living and active virtue when it is regarded as determination to live. When the burdens of life become heavy, when trials test one’s faith, when pain, sorrow, and despair cause the light of hope to flicker and burn low, communication with our Heavenly Father provides peace. Behave like a child of God, this is one who will finish life. Helaman 15.5 reports: Walk circumspectly before God, and observe and keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments according to the law of Moses. I pray that we will all be a finisher in this race of life and thus qualify for that precious prize: eternal life with our Heavenly Father in the celestial kingdom. #RandolphHarris 11 of 11
Corruption is the Enemy of Development
No program should set out to create failure or humiliate participants. The divide-and-conquer method might have been contrived in the religious and political realms, sharpened on the battlefield, and perfected in the dating game, but this technique can also be used to the individual’s advantage it is meant to harm. The divide-and-conquer may seem fruitless in modern times because the problems it creates become much more complicated as the input grows. There will always be resistance. Though power may tend to corrupt, there will always be those who believe in righteousness. Also, self-control and self-mastery leads to self-governance, and the realization that we do not necessarily need membership in a group we cannot trust. We do not need a chain of obedience or a corrupt hierarchical system. We only need leaders: preferably self-leadership that leads by healthy example. When we are isolated, we are better able to focus on our areas needing development. Our flexibility and resilience depends on the meaning we make out of a disappointing experience, and the strength of the relationships that shape, even transform, that experiences. #RandolphHarris 1 of 6
One reason many leaders never make it to the top is because they never fail, leaving them at a loss when they do. It is not failure alone, but the ability to put failure to good use that creates endurance and success. When a person is able to make good things out of bad experiences, this allows one to transcend or recast painful experiences—or at least endure them with good humor. Good leaders develop good attitudes and lead to speak to people’s hearts, and not only will that individual, but also their audience will emerge from their caves of doom and gloom, like one awakened from sleep, to the World in which we live again. A collective force of free individuals living with the mindset that cosmic laws based on health, wellness, and survival are the keys to well-being. The goal is to not only ease one’s own pain, but to heal wounded feelings and mitigate the disappointment of others. This will allow us to find a common ground and cultivate a society of compassion and fraternity, as we withstand adversity, and persevere and develop relational sensibilities. #RandolphHarris 2 of 6
It is important to actually get to know people and expose individuals to ideas that challenge their current ways of seeing. This will develop the ability to read people and situations with greater acuity; and help them reframe how they see difficult experiences. Sometimes a walk through a dark forest (do not try this) is exactly what we need to lead us to the light and refresh and recharge. Our feelings are a joint venture—a product of our interactions and the way we frame them, given our repertories. When we question our current way of seeing things, it also frees us to work together to map and alter the pattern. Maybe, even if it is risky, taking a new path is what we need because it will allow us to see something else, something that will illuminate our vision. The Anatomy Framework will turn our attention away from labeling people and toward what they are doing, how they feel, and how they interact. This will make it easier to make new sense of old situations in which we will caught. When we tether new actions to new ways of seeing, we will integrate new behaviors more quickly, and these behaviors will feel more natural to us and less artificial to others. #RandolphHarris 3 of 6
We can be negative and look for the ugly in life and the faults and failings of those around us, or we can develop optimistic attitudes and see the beautiful in life and the good, the strong, the decent, and the virtuous in people, which brings joy and happiness. It is a matter of attitude. Many of us have an even greater interest in the creation of beautiful people—the type of radiant beauty that comes from righteous living and acceptance of God. I have observed many people who have a beauty and spiritual glow. The Lord has told us that we can be beautiful. 1 Corinthians 3.16 reports: Know you that you are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you. Love yourself. It is more important to stay optimistic because beauty comes from the inside out. Peace is the beauty of life. Beauty is Sunshine. The togetherness of a family. Beauty is the advancement of humanity, the victory of a just cause, the triumph of truth. The doorway of your heart is the place where loves resides for you are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6.16). A solid foundation is the most important part of a building or of a person. We are to be the light to others, to control our anger, and reconcile bad feelings with others. #RandolphHarris 4 of 6
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. As we live with the principles of God in our hearts, we are building a rock-solid foundation upon which our lives can safely be constructed. The Lord, the great Master Architect, have given us perfect plans and specifications to guide us in the building of our lives. These are the sacred scriptures. They contain the words of the Lord and should frequently be read and considered. By seeking the Lord through prayer and through his holy scriptures, we learn to look for the beautiful and to develop great attitudes. We achieve guidance in the building of our foundations and our lives. Beauty is when you can appreciate yourself. When you love yourself and others, that is when you are the most beautiful. As we live righteous and unselfish rights, the Spirit of the Lord enters our souls and then radiates from us. We become beautiful, even as a holy temple is beautiful because we are happy with ourselves. Happiness is the greatest beauty secret. 2Nephi 4.16 reports: Behold, my soul delights in the things of the Lord, and my heart ponders continually upon the things which I have seen and heard. #RandolphHarris 5 of 6
Greed gives births to many ills—Crime and Corruption. The cancerous spread of corruption has been a matter of great concern to all people. Power is primarily being sought for amassing wealth, perks, and privileges. People’s welfare has become a thing of secondary importance on the agenda. Political ethics, values, ideology, policy issues, have been forgotten. Shockingly, the struggles for power has created divisions in government, businesses, and families. There is an iron rule in economics, it is Stein’s Law. If something cannot go on forever, it will stop. While divide-and-conquer seems like a great idea, the longer it goes on and the more people that get involved, the obvious it becomes, and it makes the corruption harder to hide. One may kill mosquitoes in a room by spraying insecticides, but many more will come inside from the breeding ground, the hole needs to be plugged. The breeding ground of corruption deserves to be cultured and the cause has to be located and removed. You cannot go on investigating corruption month after month, and year in and year out. There has got to be a point where the Government is able to say: “We have enough information.” #RandolphHarris 6 of 6
A Faint Echo of the Invitation from the Savior
Love is how we stay alive. Many of us are alive today because we felt a faint echo from God saying, “Come follow me.” The only power that exists is inside ourselves. The soul must already exist before the birth of the body because we seem to know things that were not available to us. However, it is immortality we crave. Imagine the psychological impact of being immortal. If we could be engineered by a combination of cybernetic enhancements, genetic engineering, and other scientific modification so that as humans, we would not die from aging, and it would be very hard to kill us. That would take a lot of stress off of people and we would be able to live longer to acquire money and have the freedom to really enjoy life without current limitations. Immortality has been one of humankind’s major concerns, and it has been traditionally confined to religious traditions. Many cultures believe in immortality, but many of them think that the body eventually dies and the immaterial soul (that is an incorporeal existence) has an astral body that will go on living in another realm, where we do not need money. Some believe after this life, we will enjoy all of the blessings of eternal and we have been given glimpses of what our family in Heaven will be like. #RandolphHarris 1 of 7
Nevertheless, many people love life on Earth, they love the families and friends that they have now and the places they live, they love their bodies and never want to leave Earth. However, Earth is a learning experience for us, a place for us to grow and show love to others, and it is believed that after we do depart Earth, we will be reunited with our families and friends and live in places where we love. The Son of God is our Redeemer and will deliver us from death. Heaven is the home of God, the angels, and the spirits of the righteous after death; it is the place or state of existence of the blessed after the mortal life. Isaiah 65.17 reports: Behold, I will create new Heavens and a new Earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. (That means we will have no memory of pain and suffering, but we will see our loved ones.) God has promised that in Heaven nothing—even the memory of this World’s sin and pain—will cast a shadow over the joy he has in store for us there. In this current World, even the memory of what someone did to us years ago can still cause us pain, but that will not be true in Heaven because our focus will not be on the past, but on Christ and what he means to us. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Life can be challenging at times, and today I was at home watching a TV show from the 1960s, called Bewitched. And it aired for eight years, all the way into the 1970s. Bewitched was about a beautiful witch called Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) and she falls in love with a mortal guy called Darrin. It is a romantic comedy and it is pretty funny. The show was created to take the muggings in New York City off the minds of people and make them feel safe. However, after watching a few reruns of the show, I noticed that the husband Darrin was played by two different guys. The first Darrin was Dick York, but Mr. York has a secret that he did not tell the show’s producers when he was cast. He had severely injured his back doing a movie a few years before. The injury caused constant and excruciating pain. After a few years on the TV show Bewitched, everyone started to notice that Mr. York was suffering because it became routine to have scenes and plots contrived and written in which Darrin (Dick York) was sitting down, lying down, or reclining (usually sitting at his office desk at work, or in bed, or on the couch at home) as much as possible. However, because the nature of the show required physical comedy, situations would arise that would even put strain on someone in good physical condition. #RandolphHarris 3 of 7
On one occasion, Darrin (Dick York) was hanging fifteen feet in the air and the technicians were shining a light in his eyes during the setup for the shot. All the flickering made him feel weird and he started feeling weak and dizzy. Mr. York asked to be lowered from the platform he was on. When he reached the ground, his body felt weak and unstable. And the shaky actor collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. And Mr. York decided to quit the show. Then another young man named Dick Sargant was hired to replace Dick York as Darrin. Although the two guys look similar, Darrin number two was not as friendly and the ratings for the show fell significantly. And while Dick York was at home suffering and having financial problems he found out that job offers had been coming in for him, but his listing with the union was somehow messed up and no one notified him. And so, examples like Dick York are why people seek immortality in the physical World. They sometimes get injured and those injuries are so bad that it limits what they can do and they even have to quit their jobs. Revelation 21.4 reports: God will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death nor mourning nor crying nor pain. #RandolphHarris 4 of 7
Heaven will be a powerful spiritual experience. Heaven is a real place and will be filled with real people, which is why the Bible sometimes compares Heaven to a mansion with many rooms and sometimes to an enormous city teeming with people. Heaven is an eternal city. A river, clear as crystal, will flow from the throne of God down the middle of the city. On each side of the river there will be a tree of life, yielding twelve kinds of fruit every month. The streets will be pure gold, like transparent glass. The walls of the city will be adorned with every kind of jewel, emerald, onyx, amethyst, topaz, and diamonds. There will be no need for a Sun and a Moon, and no need for a temple nor church. The presence of the Lord will be it light. The Lord’s promise of eternal life is real. What happened in our past does not matter, as long as we repent and have faith and become obedient to the Lord. We are to nurture our faith, with a hungering for the word of God in the scriptures, and the obedience to the truth we have received. Feasting on the word of God, heartfelt prayer, and obedience to the Lord’s commandments must be applied evenly and continually for your testimony to grow and prosper. Humans have always benefited from obedience to true principle. We can be assured of reaching worthy objectives in life by understanding and consistently following correct principles rooted in revealed truth. The Divine Laws are the great cosmic principles that govern the functioning of the Universe; they are at the base of all Creation. They also govern the functions of conscience, and motivate human experimentations. When we know and apply these laws, we become receptive to our Creator and to our spiritual, divine dimension. We then evolve consciously and all the mysteries of the Universe can be revealed to us. We must gain learning, but we must apply it wisely. Otherwise, we have politics without principle, industry without mortality, knowledge without wisdom, science without humanity. One of the divine laws is power of obedience to law. We must obey human laws and the laws of God, as we have freedom to act and mastery of our actions. When we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated. We also have the power to love and be kind to others. Worship strengthens our power to God. We must carefully and prayerfully protect the spiritual power line that links us to the Savior, and we will become more like him. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all people. Seek after things that are virtuous, lovely, of good report, and praiseworthy. #RandolphHarris 6 of 7
Another thing we need is the love and companionship of our family and friends. This too must be earned by compliance with or obedience to certain rules of behavior. We should be kind and considerate and choose friends who love the Lord. We must be worthy of them by leading good, clean livings, and obeying the commandments of God. It is important to be thoughtful and find occupations that make us happy. It should make us happy just to know that we have the freedom to choose what we want to do to earn a living. When it comes to selecting a career, choose something that one will enjoy doing, and then do the very best one can to be honest, honorable, and upright in one’s dealings and in the services one gives. As long as we seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, know that all these other things we will be blessed with. Work diligently. Be at the right place at the right time. Maintain a degree of humbleness. Also, develop an inner driver and a competitive desire to excel rather than just get along. And foster common sense. Through obedience to these business guidelines, we will have success and happiness.
