The Persistence of Art

Art has its trials as well as its triumphs. It is powerless to assert itself against the sordid interest of everyday life.  Surrealism is a style of art in which the reality of the dream, or the subconscious mind, is seen as more real than the surface reality of everyday life. Its reality is a higher reality. The creation a work of art is a representation of the artist moving through the hot desert, experiencing triple digit heat and trying to reach his family. This also represents the defeat of fascist people, and him leaving the battle field, in victory, but barely alive. If he does not make it to his family, it marks the death of liberty, a reality he was unwilling to think of as being real. This is a struggle between life and death.  Nothing for him could be more real than that struggle. An honest man is one of the few great works that can be seen for nothing.

One of the most powerful kinds of implied line is a function of sight, the direction the figures in a given composition are looking. This work represents the Virgin Mary, and she is trying to unify the Worlds of the divine and the mortal.Among the heirs of Art, as at the division of the Promised Land, each has to win a portion by hard fighting: the bestowal is after the manner of prophecy, and is a title without possession. There is a great deal in the feeling of art which must be acquired. Art is an old language with a great many artificial affected styles.Like a signature, art expresses powerful emotions; he is a deeply anguished and creative genius. Many of these photographs help us to understand the expressive energies released in this creative outburst. In the image above, life and death collide, and they are connected by the arm of the father, delivering his seed to the World, in hopes of salvation.

If anywise interested in art, a person must be difficult to please who cannot find fit companionship among a crowd of persons, whose ideas and pursuits all tend towards the general purpose of enlarging the World’s stock of beautiful productions. Representing the effects of light is at least as important in creating believable space as a perspective. The effects of the atmosphere on the appearance of elements in a landscape is one of the chief preoccupations of this work of art and is responsible for formulating the rules we call atmospheric or aerial perspective. Briefly, these rules state that the quality of the atmosphere (the haze and relative humidity) between us and large objects, such as the Moon, changes their appearance. Objects further away from us appear less distant, often cooler or bluer in color, and contrast between light and dark is reduced.

The Heavenly light symbolically offers them nourishment, which contrasts with the gluttonous Worldly activity going on below on Earth, where a dogs knaws at a bone, and cats search for left overs (symbolizing overconsumption and draining the economy of resources.) However, the light symbolizes the spiritual World, and darkness our Earthly home.  A picture, however admirable the painter’s art, and wonderful his power, requires of the spectator a surrender of himself; in due proportion with the miracle which has been wrought. An artist must be man and demigod.

Young Man in no Hurry

202

A soul is like a bird, and needs a sharp tap on its shell to open it. For a week, the amount of virtue in the old house would have supplied the neighborhood. Placing a confidence is the surest way of attaching a young mind. Youth smiles without any reason. It is one of its chiefest charms. A boy means a green hand, a landsman on his first voyage. And never mind if he is antiquated enough to be a grandfather, he is still called a boy; and boy’s work is put upon him.

367

A man’s beginning his prime at fifty, or there never was much man in him. In youth, as at the opera, everything seems possible. Advancing in age is sought to create a feeling of balance and proportion, quite the opposite of youth, which prevents grotesque and chaotic things from happening. Youth tends to be unpredictable and ambiguous, bodies seem to sometimes fall out of nowhere, the drama, by growing up and moving around hurtles, we hold up our shattered instruments (souls) of torture, to claim the advantage and nobility of superior age.

369

The special private happiness of a free person comes, I think, from his finding ways that help him be present in what he is doing. When I feel most pressured, most unfree, it is usually because I am not there as me. I do not mean that I am not in what I am doing, necessarily. I mean that I am driving myself, treating myself as an object, a tool, and an instrument. Many talents could be mustered with clear intention of turning one into the most magnificent man, for the greater glory of God and the Church.

395

At heart, my efforts are an ambitious building program. It is like my architectural embrace, as if I am reaching out my arms to gather my flock. My ambitions are comparatively classical in taste. The happy benevolence of our feelings, when we are young, prompts us to believe that everybody is good, and excites our wonder why everybody is not happy. Youth and discretion are with respect to each other as two parallel lines, which, though infinitely produced, remain still equidistant, and will never coincide. An antiquated man is brought up to speak of superannuated times.

Without rhythm, there would be no poetry; without colours, could there be life? This translation must not be overdone, however, by a simple reversal of the old doctrine of progress is it to be inferred that we are always the losers. However, the analogies that I have drawn are still valid and serve to sketch that other fullness of the World some way rely on it.

No man who has had any real experience of life can have failed to observe how amazingly close, in critical situations, the terrible, the comic and the serious, contrive to tread on each other’s heels. At such times, the last thing we ought properly to think of comes into our heads, or the least consistent event that could possibly be expected to happen does actually occur. I never saw a man, in all my experience, who I should be so sorry to have for an enemy. Is this because I like him, or because I am afraid of him?

Pretty Colors 206

The Heaven being spread with this pallid screen and the Earth with the darkest vegetation, their meeting line at the horizon was clearly marked. In such contrast the heath wore the appearance of an installment of night which had taken up its place before its astronomical hour was come: darkness had to a great arrived here on, while day stood distinct in the sky.

Friendship is ye best pearl, but by disdain thrown into vinegar, it bursteth rather in pieces, than it will bow to any softness. With only an inconsiderable change, the gladdest objects and existences become the saddest. An honest man is one of the few great works that can be seen for nothing. How finely we argue upon mistake facts!

Dignity is very Expensive

355

The whole island is one family, or household. It hath been many an honest man’s hap to pass for the father of children he never begot. Fanatics cling to their dream, and would not give it for gold. Could but my parents have let go as fast as I pulled; I should have been a very happy creature.  However, experience is the child of Thought, and Thought is the child of action. We cannot learn men from books. When thou are a father, thou wilt be capable then only of knowing what a father can feel.

117

In the chequered area of human experience the seasons are all mingled as in the golden age: fruit and blossom hang together; in the same moment the sickle is reaping and the seed is sprinkled; one tends the green cluster and another treads the wine press. We can never describe what we have not seen. Exploring is delightful to look forward to and back upon, but it is not comfortable at the time, unless it be of such an easy nature as not to deserve the name.

202

In our eagerness to explain impressions, we often lose our hold of the sympathy that comprehends them. The actual experience of even the most ordinary life is full of events that never explain themselves, either as regards their origin or their tendency. Those speeches look best in the Record which make no appeal to the gallery. Ryan Phillippe is very perceptive. To judge by the event, he appears to have understood man better than the Being who made him, the devil is apt to keep an eye on exceptions, you will rarely find the sternest or wisest of men disposed to be harsh towards errors that spring from a devotion to themselves.

mens-short-suit

Difficulty gives poignancy to our enjoyments; which are apt to lose their relish with us when they are over easily obtained. Does not the Devil live forever; who ever heard that the devil was dead? Did you ever see any parson wearing mourning for the devil? Well, I have seen only one person, and that would be I, and I alone. Even Caesar’s fortune, at one time, was but a grand presentiment. We know what a masquerade all development is, and what effective shapes may be disguised in helpless embryos.

The World is full of hopeful analogies and handsome dubious eggs called possibilities. Making a baby is a lot like making cookies; you have the ingredients to make the best cookies in the World, as long as you care for them and bake them properly. However, sometimes, no matter how hard you try, the oven may not work right, and that is not your fault, or the power may be out. Not everyone can afford to make cookies. Thank God for Ettore’s, the gentlest spirits when provoked, are the most determined.

124

Heaven has kindly closed from our eyes the book of future events, that we may not be guilty of repining at its ordinations. It is hard work to control the workings of inclinations, and turn the bent of nature: but it may be done. God has given us, in a measure, the power to make our own fate.  I had wanted to compromise with Fate: to escape occasional great agonies by submitting to a whole life of privation and small pains.

112

Fate would not so be pacified; nor would Providence sanction this shrinking sloth and cowardly indolence. Dr. Phillippe himself was one of those on whose birth benign planets have certainly smiled. Adversity might set him against him and her most sullen front: he was the man to beat her down with smiles. Strong and cheerful, and firm and courteous; not rash, yet valiant; he was the aspirant to woo Destiny herself, and to win from her stone eyeballs a beam almost loving.

Perhaps it would be a good idea, fantastic as it sounds, to muffle every telephone, stop every motor and halt all activity for an hour some day to give people a chance to ponder for a few minutes on what it is all about, why they are living, and what they really want. Be around great men and women, and learn from their experience. Visit great places, attend great events, read great books. Patterns repetitive quality creates a sense of liner and directional movement.

415

Anyone who has ever stared at a wallpaper pattern, trying to determine where and how it begins to repeat itself, knows how the eye will follow a pattern. A work of art can also, in and of itself, invite us to experience it in a linear or temporal way. The miracle of the American Dream may be the sheer wonder of all these patterns simultaneousness, in the same space, or it may be more than that: the miraculous sense of well-being that characterized American life in the 1950s.

th (17)

When Fate is fighting with all its might against a human soul, the greatest victory that the soul can win is to reconcile itself to the unpleasant, which is never quite unpleasant afterwards. Our deedle determines us, as much as we determine our deeds. Heaven is above all. The curtain of our fate is still undrawn. Destiny is absolute, and influencing every event through the life of man. When most he thinks he is pursuing his own will, he merely fulfills that of destiny.

1080SouthSideChicago

There is a destiny in a war, to which a brave man knows how to submit, with the same courage that he faces his foes. There is a fate in love, as in war. Chemists might sway, if they pleased the destines of humanity. What else could all of this writing be about?  Man is trying to create a new World by working his destiny out, through inspiring others.

Once you know the ionic charges, you can readily write correct formulas for ionic compounds using the principle that cations (+) and anions (-) combine in such a way that the magnitude of total positive charge just equals the magnitude of total negative charge and the compound is thereby electrically neutral. For example, the proper formula for the combination of the elements potassium and bromine, in the sedative, potassium bromide is KBr because a one-to-one combination of K+ and Br- results  in electrical neutrality.

311

Will you tell me of a fate, of a destiny, willing you to become base? –pre-ordaining your weakness and guilt? Impossible! Not even the suicide expires an instant before the period marked out by his destiny. I am the Alpha (God) and the Omega (Devil), the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. I wanted to explore and express a part of life which I had always dismissed, my homemaking, and my architecture.

Certain and Inflexible

20150724_021151

The World, being in the constant commission of vast quantities of injustice, is a little too apt to comfort itself with the idea that if the victim of its falsehood and malice have a clear conscience, he cannot fail to be sustained under his trials, and somehow or other to come right at last; “in which case,” say they who have hunted him down, “—through we certainly do not expect it—nobody will be better pleased than we.” Whereas, the World would do well to reflect, that injustice is in itself, to every generous and properly constituted mind, an injury, of all others the most insufferable, the most torturing, and the most hard to bear; and that many clear consciences have gone to their account elsewhere, and many sound hearts have broken, because of this very reason; the knowledge of their own deserts only aggravating their sufferings, and rendering them the less endurable. Kings are accountable for injustice permitted as well as done.

Nothing, humanely speaking, can deserve higher respect than a profession in which a man devotes the labors of his life to the support of justice. Would it not be justice to oblige every man who proposes a medicine to sale, first to make proof that it is harmless at least, by taking it himself? The agitation of the mind baffles all the power of medicine, and till the mind is relieved, the body can never be restored. It is impossible to study the human frame without a little studying of the human mind. There is nothing so difficult as to manage the public mind. Private vices are public benefits. Are there as many hells as there are crimes? If not, all punishments are alike. The opinion of a man forms of his own prudence is measured by that of the company he keeps. If prudence consists in wishing well to one’s self, young flirts are as prudent as old souls. The Doctor knew his fellow creatures better than most men, knew that inner life which so seldom unfolds itself to unanointed eyes.

Headshot1-copy-1

There is nothing so pernicious as an imprudent connection. The theft of a woman’s affections is not so atrocious as that of her honor. I was astonished to perceive that among the number of natives that surrounded us not a single female was to be seen. At that time I was ignorant of the fact that by the operation of the taboo the use of canoes in all parts of the island is rigorously prohibited to the entire sex, for whom it is death even to be seen entering one when hauled on shore; consequently, whenever a Marquesan lady voyages by water, she puts in requisition the paddles of her own fair body. It requires great courage and great art for women to guard against so many invisible powers that war against them every moment. Manhood is not worthy but if it be melded with wisdom. Hunger is as leisurely a death as breaking upon the wheel. Very often there is an insatiable instinct that demands friendship, love, and intimate communion, but is forced to pine in empty forms; a hunger of the heart, which finds only shadows to feed upon.

ergeh

A saint abroad and a devil at home; I have heard many cry out against sin in the pulpit who yet can abide it well enough in the heart, house, and conversation. Some have considered the larger part of mankind in the light of actors, as personating characters no more their own, and to which they have no better title than the players hath to be in earnest thought the king or emperor whom he represents. Thus the hypocrite may be said to be a player; and indeed the Greeks called them both one and the same name. The happiness of some lives is distributed pretty evenly over the whole stretch from the cradle to the grave, while that of others comes all at once, glorifying some particular epoch and leaving the rest in shadow. There is no happiness like that of being loved by your fellow-creatures, and feeling that your presence is an addition to their comfort. A new creed became mine—a belief in happiness.

087

Nobody can call such an undersized man handsome, he is not (Ryan) five foot nine. Perhaps it is the instinctive trait of most of us to seek an explanation for any great happiness as we are always prone to discuss the causes of our adversity. Long habit has the art of giving charms to places; or, rather, ‘tis the people who inhabit them. The vermin race are every treacherous cruel, and cowardly, whilst those endowed with strength and power are generous, brave and gentle. Every human being, when given over to the devil, is sure to have the wizard mark upon him, in one form or another. The most sacred engagements are daily violated; friendship and love, the most endearing bonds of society, are made a cloak to perpetrate the most execrable villainies, the ruin of innocence, the destruction of the most unsuspecting and honest man. Either we must suppose that the love of evil is born with us (which would be an insult to the Deity), or we mist attribute them to the suggestions of infernal influence.

115

No man falls like Lucifer from Heaven—the progress of evil is slow and not easily perceived. If thou  hast defeated Circe, and escaped all swinish transformations then mayest thou proceed in safety and resist the sirens. You do not know, for you could never learn it from your own heart, which is all purity and rectitude, what a mixture of good there may be in things evil; and how the greatest criminal, if you look at his conduct from his own point of view, or from any side point, may seem not so unquestionably guilty, after all. Sin has really becomes an instrument most effective in the education of intellect and soul. Fiends we are all, till God’s grace comes.  And Earth was Heaven a little the worse for wear. And Heaven was Earth, done up again to look like new. The Heaven and the Earth must not be shaken. There is a many ways of showing the heart.

Walking in Circles and it is Time to Stop

117

After years of worshiping a God I cannot see and making a fool of myself for career and love, and doing so much for others, but not getting what I want out of life, it made me stop and think.  Maybe I am trying too hard and really should give up? I do so much and have done more than many you know, and it has gotten me nowhere.

331

I sit in my little apartment, dreaming of the day I can finally get away and leave this all behind. I used to focus so much on career and love, but it seems nearly impossible. For me, I am more likely to win the lottery than go on a date. Living like the man on the moon, maybe I came too soon, but I refuse to continue?

348

People talk about divine order and looking at signs, but I do not want to be a superstitious fool.  I can find a meaning in anything thing, anyone can if they spend enough time. Why should I sit back and listen to these restrictions and explanations? And when people ask me why or why not, I cannot say because my dad told me not to, or my spouse does not approve.

355

A few weeks ago, a kid asked me why I am single,? I replied, “What makes you think that?” He says, “You are always alone, and never bring anyone over.” Other than that, everyone keeps pushing me to keep writing and keep engaging in photography, but it is not getting me anywhere. I have been trying to get discovered for nearly a decade, and maybe it is just time to quit. After all, you can hire someone to do what I do.

225

I am tired, and burnt out and the normal laws, rules, and regulations do not seem to apply to me. So I am just going to spend my days relaxing, until I truly see something or someone I desire. Forget being on standby for a relationship, or doing things for free, while praying that it will lead to a career. I have given life and love all I have any they have totally forgotten about me.

247

I am special, I am important and maybe it will take you sometime to realize that. Until the right one (career or love) comes along, I am going to spend more time enjoying the things I do have in my life. If you (life) really want me, it is your turn to prove it.

394

Open the door, I showed up to show off, do not make me stand too long. Get my attention I am ready to go, my only intent is to give you a show. Until then, I want to be silent so I can hear my own voice and take direction from within. Do not push me, guide me, take my hand, and show me the way.

The Sacramento King’s Arena Debauchery

I realized that it is more important for a writer to say whatever one has to say than to worry about form. It is what one says, not how one says it, that matters, although a writer must know the rules in order to break them effectively. Time is important to the writer. There is so much I want to do, so much I will never have time to do now. I have an enormous amount of drafted stuff I will never be able to finish. Life just is not long enough! Globalization exposes businesspeople to a variety of cultures and business practices. What does it mean for a business to do the right thing in China? In  Japan? In Africa? What may be considered unethical in one country may be an accepted practice in another. Consider bribes, for example. In the United States bribing officials is illegal, but to get something done in Mexico, it is common to pay officials una mordidia (a small bite).  In China, businesses pay huilu, and in Russia, vzyatka. Although the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act makes it illegal for U.S. businesses operating abroad to pay bribes, U.S. companies are allowed to make small payments under certain conditions.  To crack down on illegal payoffs, the industrialized nations have now signed a treaty that makes bribes to foreign officials a criminal offense. Still, bribery will not end just because a treaty has been signed or because it is illegal. Currently, Mayor Kevin Johnson, of Sacramento, California, and the owner of the Sacramento Kings, Vivek Ranadive, are in court fighting a legal battle.

A lawsuit against the city of Sacramento and the Sacramento Kings basketball team claims that  $447 million was given to the Sacramento Kings as part of a deal to build a new arena, and $223 million of that was taxpayer money. Not only that, but after financing, the new arena will cost nearly $1 billion. So the Sacramento King’s and the city of Sacramento knocked down the mall in Downtown Sacramento and even destroyed some historical buildings to make space for the new stadium. To add insult to injury, it has been verified that at least $223 million taxpayer dollars were used to fund the arena, without public consent, and that there is no parking for fans when they go the arena. The arena will have no parking lot. The public already believes that they are paying too much in taxes, and Governor Brown wants to increase taxes to pay for roads and health care. Governor Jerry Brown wants at least $1.3 billion annually to help fund Medi-Cal (medical insurance) and homecare services for the elderly and those with limited mobility, and about $5.7 billion to pay for road repairs, when costs are already included in the price of gas and vehicle registration fees. As a result, the public is being double and tripled taxed. Other problems with the Sacramento King’s arena are that the infrastructure, crumbling roads, and highways will not support the substantial traffic congestion and environmental degradation that the sports complex will attract, in addition to the current traffic overcrowding.  Many also fear that a medical emergency may happen or some other debauchery, and that emergency service will not be able to respond. Therefore, many are calling the funding of the arena fraud. Crimes cause their own detection.

Effectiveness and Commitment

No bond unites congenial hearts more firmly than that of a common great aim. Effectiveness requires commitment. Commitment is the conscious decision to invest time, energy, thought, and feeling to improve oneself or one’s relationships with other. Little worthwhile comes without commitment. Do you want to be a great reporter? They make big individual sacrifices, labored untold hours, and plan strategies carefully. You have to want it, work for it, have passion to achieve it, you must be committed. Sometimes, problems rest just below the surface and go unattended by groups, and that magnifies difficulties, unless members are sensitive to the nuances and subtleties of communication transactions between members. The predominant motivation of the competent communicator is the desire to avoid previous mistakes and to find better ways of communicating with group members. Someone who makes the same mistakes repeatedly and shows little interest in altering his or her behavior is a nuisance, or worse, a dead weight that can sink a group. Such anemic commitment is a frequent source of frustration in groups that can fester into group hate. Therefore, commitment to improving your communication effectiveness requires monitoring of self.

When you interact in groups, you have to be a participant observer. You assume a detached view of yourself, analyze your communication behavior, and look for areas to improve while noting successes. Ultimately, the competent communicator considers it a personal responsibility to interact with group members as effectively and productively as possible. All the rules of morality are but maxims of prudence. There   is no moral truth, the weight of which can be felt without experience. It turns out that 48 percent of people admitted they had engaged in one or more unethical communication behaviors on the past year. Workers covered up unethical or illegal incidents; called in sick when they were not ill; lied or deceived customers, coworkers, or supervisors; or took credit for a coworker’s idea. American culture cares about ethics, but we do not always communicate ethically. Imagine trying to keep a family together when everyone lies regularly, and no one can be trusted. Stealing someone’s idea and taking credit raises the issue of right and wrong because another person is adversely affected. The theft of an idea is inappropriate and self-centered. All ethical systems condemn lying.

Relationships fall apart, and groups cannot function effectively when members show disrespect for each other. Prejudice treats people unfairly. Bigotry should have no place in the communication arena. Bigots want different rules for themselves than those applied to disfavored people. Freedom to choose for oneself without threat of force or intimidation is a basic ethical value. It is why most nations have outlawed torture. Coercion prevents choice. If you fear reprisals for telling the truth, then your freedom to choose truthfulness instead of deceit is compromised. Ethical communication is We oriented. Every group member and the group as a whole have a responsibility, a duty, to be concerned about more than merely what works to achieve personal or even group goals. How goals are achieved is also a vital consideration. As the rash of corporate scandals showed, our ethical responsibility encompasses more than effectiveness. People were not born to live alone. We are linked to our brethren by a thousand times; and, when those ties are broken, we cease from all genuine existence. Honesty, respect, fairness, choice, and responsibility, however, are strong values in most culture, and they act as basic standards for our communication behavior.

A Nation at Risk

148

The generality of human actions, like a great deal of our current coin, is counterfeit. Minor conflicts can easily escalate into major destructive conflicts spiraling out of control when groups are faces with failure, poor working conditions, intense competition, stress, or a defensive climate. Managing conflict, in challenging circumstances, can be difficult.

221

I have a friend, who is fond of the hit and run confrontation. As the other person starts to respond to his revelation, he abruptly excuses himself, pleading an “urgent” appointment that cannot be missed or a “Sorry, I am late for work” apology. This timing is strategic. If you hit, then run, you do not take the risk of getting hit back. At least not right away.

235

The target of the hit and run gets to stew over your revelation and fume over your perceived insensitivity. The perpetrator, however, likely feels relieved that a great weight has been lifted by his or her disclosure of self. If you are going to confront, make time for it.

004

The principle of reciprocation operates universally in all societies. When someone assists us, we feel obligated to return the benefaction. The principle of requital can be exploited as a powerful compliance gaining strategy or inducement for cooperation in small groups.

226

There is another side to the strategy, however, called negative reciprocation. Here those who do harm to us or threaten our well-being are thought to deserve harm or threats in return, and negative reciprocation tends to be stronger than its beneficial form.

150

Group members often overact to perceived threats or offenses, especially from more powerful members, setting in motion a destructive conflict spirals. This overreaction has a chain reverberation on the whole system.

297

Disputing group member often do more than merely reciprocate each other’s negative behavior in exact proportion. They usually ratchet up this level of negativity. A mildly abusive remark, from a second member, that may in turn incite a highly abusive and threatening remark from a third member, and so forth.

219

How do groups short circuit conflict spirals? The basic role of the competent communicator is to avoid negative reciprocation. You must not match the abusive, insulting, or threatening behavior of other group members.

233

More and more occasions require negation; conflict is a growth industry. Whether in business, government, or the family, people reach most decisions through negation. Negotiation is a process by which a joint decision is made by two or more parties.

CIgsjc_WoAApwsN

First of all, let anger sink into compassion, and issue a sincere public statement expression a desire to deescalate the conflict. Specify the concession to be made, clarifying what, when and how the action will be undertaken. Follow through and complete the concession, but do not make this contingent on reciprocation by other parties.

239

Encourage, but do not demand, reciprocation from other parties. Make no high risk concession that leave you vulnerable or in an indefensible position. Do not give away things you cannot afford to, or make promises you cannot keep. It is our goal not to get drawn into the conflict that main stream American is experiencing.

14rgh

We accept and love all people regardless of their skin color, eye color, hair texture, gender, or culture. I truly wish we could let this concept of race go and just focus on being good people and being nice. It is possible, we all just have to make up our minds to let go of conflict, do not feed into it. Time, patience, and fortitude often conquer fate.

078

As we know not to what purpose any event is ultimately directed, so neither can we affirm from what cause it originally sprung from. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings and maybe this is the best I have. Every living entity, piece of property, and inanimate object matters.

085

Providence will, sooner or later, procure the felicity of the virtuous and innocent. No bond unites congenial hearts more firmly than that of a common great aim. It is more useful to go through life with common sense than with all the taste in the World.

Civilization and Wilderness

In Northern Europe, where strict Protestant theology had purged the churches of religious art, and, furthermore, classical subjects declined in popularity, as pagan, realism thrived.

20140922_143010

Meaning that work with secular, or nonreligious, subject matter became extremely popular: still life painting was popular, as were representations of everyday people living out their daily lives, and landscapes.

114

No longer working for the church, artist painted everyday things that they thought would appeal to the bourgeois taste of the new consumer. However, ironically, the figure above represents Joseph’s dream that Herod is searching for the infant Jesus to kill him, and his army stands strong.

The city of Sacramento, California USA has been inhabited for over 8,500 years, and is supposed to represent the pastoral World, a middle ground between civilization and wilderness where people can live free of both the corruption and decadence of city and court life and the uncontrollable forces of nature.

482

This is a different World in an eternally poetic life. The trees and flowers employ an atmospheric perspective to soften all the sense of tension and opposition.

Ryan-Phillippe-15

The modest houses and grand homes are bring us to a World of harmony and peace. This city is supposed to be the best that civilization has to offer and has been melded with the best of a wholly benign and gentle nature, much like the people.

Architects and landscapers felt that sense God made the Earth, and they wanted people to sense the majesty of His soul in His handiwork, much as one could sense emotion in the ornate details of the Victorian homes, sky scrapers, and castles.

The State Capitol castle is supposed to be God’s vision and is symbolically suggested as you look toward the twin towers and the Golden Bridge.

Once one looks at the suggested panoramic sweep of the extended view, this is representative of a castle, made for Nephilim and a draw bridge to the castle, with guard towers, giving the infinite dimensions of the Heavens.

The view is not only about the land, but about the sky, and the light that emanates from it, alternately casting the Earth in light and shadow, knowledge and innocence.

225

Rising to meet the light, importantly, is the Capitol Castle, one of the largest buildings in the landscape. The beam of lights suggest the spiritual presence of God, and the beams of light from the Sun/Son of Christ.

124

The City of Sacramento was once so idealized that it was almost Edenic. The example of architecture and landscape that the founders left us offers an important lesson in the direction they wanted the city to go from the late seventeenth century down to our own day.

299

The spiritual is not found exclusively in the church, it can also be found in nature, in light, and your own personal homes.

The main purpose of this record is to show us not to be intimidated by the greatness of our ancestors, and to just be ourselves.

Why not use Ulises or his son? The writers most likely used the nephew and not himself or his son, because in the Odyssey, his son is shown to be a hero and many like him.

141

He is good with words, brave, and cries in public from time to time.

li 166

Since he and his son are relatively the same, a nephew would be the next male relationship to make a connection to.

482

However, by using replacements, this also teaches the public to be themselves, even if they are not as great brave, and intelligent. He is very sensual, and handsome, he is a god.

However, he is shown as one dimensional, only in a negative way, so the audience does not pity him. The writers want us to cheer for the good guys and boo for the bad guys.

Although father and son do not match up, there is a connection between them.

However, the author has had only one opportunity to witness this phenomenon, during the 1995 eclipse in India, two minutes before second contact and three minutes after third contact.

484

At first, they appear as curious plays of light, chiaroscuros, like the evanescent luminous dappling when sunlight passes over forest leaves.

518

They are caused by a phenomenon analogous to stars twinkling at night.

Snapshot_20150705_8

To be precise, they are produced by turbulence in the layers of atmosphere a few meters off the ground. As totality approaches, the temperature drops significantly.

520

This generates convection currents that modify the temperature and density of various layers of air, which in turn alters their index of refraction.

Harris, California 251

Thus every little gust of wind causes a new deflection of light, and this produces the phenomenon.

146

Then, as totality approaches, the dappled spots become discrete bands spaced a few centimeters apart.

NASA 191

This banded profile is produced by the image of the crescent Sun projected on the ground (which gets progressively thinner in the seconds immediately preceding second contact) after passing through the turbulence present in the highest layers of the atmosphere.

485

When totality ends, this phenomenon follows a reverse profile.

drbv

It is often spectacular to the naked eye. In the first case, the phenomenon was also tinted with a marvelous crimson hue, due to the reflection of chromosphere light by thin clouds that were present; in the second, the phenomenon seemed to last an eternity but was really only four of five seconds.

The wind is a cold wind generated by the temperature drop that follows the sudden disappearance of the Sun and the consequent cooling of the atmosphere.

Sometimes the opposite effect occurs, as in Mexico in 1991; the wind is felt first but falls off suddenly just moments before totality.

The approach of the Moon’s shadow over the ground, starting about 15 seconds before the totality, has been observed during many eclipses.

Harris234 049

This is surely one of the more disturbing manifestations accompanying totality, and in the most dramatic cases, it is like a dark and threatening storm, a black monolith that advances at hurricane speed, as described by Angelo Secchi during an eclipse of 1860.

The best known of the state apartments is the Harris Chamber which the king (they called the kings and queens, due to the separation of church and state, they are gods and goddesses) planned towards the end of his reign to commemorate Winchester’s mighty north front which lies alongside parts of the castle inhabited by the sovereign from the earliest times, and much of its masonry dates from the first stone buildings put up by Randolph Henry II in the twelfth century.

355

This chamber is sumptuously decorated and displays a grand series of portraits of the monarchs, soldiers, and statesmen who contributed to the downfall of Napoleon; some of them are by Sir Thomas Lawrence.

The site had a considerable influence on the design. Thus the key to understanding and appreciating the architecture always involves both technology and topography. We will consider topography first.

The significance of the pyramids of Egypt is the subject of much debate, but their forms may well derive from the image of the god Ra, who in ancient Egypt was symbolized by the rays of the sun descending to Earth.

393

A text in one pyramid reads: “I have trodden these rays as ramps under my feet.”

121

As one approached the mammoth pyramids, covered in limestone to reflect the light of the Sun, the eye was carried skyward to Ra, the Sun itself, who was in the desert the central fact of life.
