My Soul Can Reach When Feeling Out of Sight for the Ends of Being and Ideal Grace!

ImageHealthy people have a strong kinship feeling for other people. Healthy, authentic people feel engaged with and related to other people. They seldom become hermits. They are part of the human race and value the association. They feel a kindship o humankind as a whole and to individual persons in particular. They like and enjoy the company of others. Other people are drawn to these people, too. The benefit derived from these kinship associations is not exploitive, at least not from the self-actualizer’s side of it. Only the inexperienced over-enthused novice will want to share the whole of one’s knowledge with others, will want to let them into all its secrets without delay. The prudent expert guide is much more restrained. One carefully refrains from giving more than the others are ready for, holding the rest bac for a later time. It is not only prudence which warns one against yielding one’s secret at once: Nature, in her own operations, likewise lets the mind of her animals grow by degrees through a graduated process of development. It is the mark of a well-qualified teacher that one adapts one’s advice to fit each disciple individually. If everyone is recommended to practise the same method irrespective of one’s competence, one’s personal history, and temperament, one’s grade of development and capacity, one’s character-traits and tendencies, in a number of cases it will be largely ineffectual. #RandolphHarris 1 of 26

ImageOne’s long-range work is to lift the disciples to one’s own level, but one’s short-range work is necessarily concerned with their levels. One’s refusal to give everything out to everyone must be judged by this light, this recognition of the fact that there exist various levels of understanding, and hence a readiness to learn these things. A teacher of spiritual culture, ideals, principles, and practices must think of the intellectual level of those one seeks to instruct, and address one’s message to that. Because there are different levels of aspirants, different levels of teaching are necessary. One takes the view that these multiple teachings are successive steps leading in time to the highest truth and that it would be harmful or unwise to present this truth at too early a stage. There are three methods of approach used by the teachers, depending on the level of the people they have to deal with. They are: first, terrorizing the lowest type of fears; second, coaxing the better evolved ones by the baits and lures; third, giving fair, balanced statement of truth for those people who are mentally and morally on the highest level. A competent teacher puts oneself behind one’s pupil’s eyes, inside one’s pupil’s mind, and starts one’s instruction from what one finds there. The prudent teacher will reveal what will best help people, not necessarily what they like to hear or all that one knows. #RandolphHarris 2 of 26

ImageOne must give people what is best for them, must first evaluate how much truth they can take in. It is utterly impracticable and imprudent to give all people all the spiritual truth all the time. One is very interested in whether or not the pupil’s trust the teacher enough to do exactly as one says. Not that the goal is to make them obedient puppets; but there is a time one wants to know—is one trusted, or is one not trusted? One knows oneself that one’s aim is not to enslave them or to limit them. This is an expression of care really. You can call the prescription “Instant Parent.” However, one never knows how open the other fella is with me, in any final scientifically grounded way. I do not know in certainty how open I am, let us say 80 percent of the time. In retrospect, I can find 20 or 30 percent of the time that I am play acting. Nobody is perfect. However, you can never read another persons’ mind, unfortunately. No, fortunately. You can know when you are offering the truth and reality of your experiencing to the person. It is very interesting to see how the other person responds to your truth and reality. At the beginning one will respond with fakery, manipulation, and so on. In due time, I supposed, when one discovers it is all right, one will behave in ways that to one are more open. #RandolphHarris 3 of 26

ImageOne will say that before, one was not leveling but not one is leveling. About the only cue you have about one’s being on level is one’s congruency, the consistency of the messages that are coming to you—one’s verbal messages and one’s bodily messages. Here is an example of noncongruent communication from an individual. One says, with a smile, “I suffer an awful lot.” His face tells you one thing, and his words are telling you another. When he starts saying, “I suffer an awful lot,” and then he cries and cannot talk, then probably he is being genuine, unless you have reason to suspect that it is crocodile tears. It seems to me when one is oneself open, one is receptive to cues at a lot of levels. If these cues are dissonant, an open and sensitive person will sense this dissonance. I can have someone cru, and I find myself not moved by one’s crying. Well, I do not berate myself and say, “You are hardhearted, Tyler.” I say, “I find myself not moved by your tears. I wonder why? So the question, “How do you tell when the other fellow is genuine,” is answered by experiencing one’s impact on you, but that is not always going to be a reliable indicator as to whether the individual is telling the truth or not. Sociopaths are excellent at lying and using pseudo emotions. They can even get people to believe things that are fictional and contradictory. #RandolphHarris 4 of 26

ImagePeople can use openness in the service of defense, or hostility as well as helpfulness. I have done it myself. It is a matter of your true commitment—what are you being open for? The prudent teacher will give out slightly more than the seeking enquirer is able to receive. To explain such subtle teachings in all their fullness to anyone who will not be able to understand them or to feel as interested as the students does, would be foolish. Nevertheless, one is not proprietor of them so one cannot keep them solely for one’s own use; nor is one so separate from others that their inner fate is not one’s concern. If someone comes who asks questions sincerely or needs comfort spiritually or seeks guidance in bewilderment, the student must give what one can. However, one must give it prudently, not pouring out one drop more of one’s knowledge or power than is needed for the particular person at this particular stage in evolution. There is no necessity to keep truth jealously guarded, as in medieval times, nor to rush to the opposite extreme and give everything to everyone. The message will reach one only when it can re-educate one’s understanding. All spiritual progress is individual. Each human grows by oneself, not as part of a group. Therefore, if instruction is really to be effective, it should be individual instruction. #RandolphHarris 5 of 26

ImageThe outer teacher’s prime duty is to lead the aspirant to one’s own inner teacher. However, if one leads the aspirant towards ever-increasing attachment, dependence, and submission to oneself—that is, outwards and away from the inner teacher—then one only exploits one rather than directs one, and there is only false progress. Real progress will be the fruit of their own endeavours, not of the goodwill of others. It is one of the obligations of a true spiritual guide to make aspirants feel that they have the power to achieve it and to encourage them to take their spiritual destiny into their own hands. One formulated precisely and expresses definitely an idea which a number of minds are moving toward but have not yet produced. They recognize it when one gives it to them, and thus become the willing receivers of it. The teacher passes some of one’s own consciousness and force into the disciple, thus enabling one to realize the truth of what might otherwise be but theory. Moreover one provides “truth-words” for the disciple who, by constantly ruminating over these, attains intuitive knowledge. All polite letters are nothing but pictures of human life in various attitudes and situations; and inspire us with different sentiments, of praise or blame, admiration or ridicule, according to the qualities of the object, which they set before us. #RandolphHarris 6 of 26

ImageAn artist must be better qualified to succeed in this undertaking, who, besides a delicate taste and a quick apprehension, possess an accurate knowledge of the internal fabric, the operations of the understanding, the workings of the passions, and the various species of sentiment which discriminate vice and virtue. How painful soever this inward search or enquiry may appear, it becomes, in some measure, requisite to those, who would describe with success the obvious and outward appearances of life and manners. The anatomist presents to the eye the most hideous and disagreeable objects; but one’s science is useful to the painter in delineating even a VENUS or an HELEN. While the latter employs all the richest colours of one’s art, and gives one’s figures the most graceful and engaging airs; one must still carry one’s attention to the inward structure of the human body, the position of the muscles, the fabric of the bones, and the use and figure of every part or organ. Accuracy is, in every cause, advantageous to beauty, and just reasoning to delicate sentiment. In vain would we exalt the one by depreciating the other. Besides, we may observe, in every art or profession, even those which most concern life or action, that a spirit of accuracy, however acquired, carries all of them nearer their perfection, and renders them more subservient to the interests of society. #RandolphHarris 7 of 26

ImageAnd though a philosopher may live remote from business, the genius of philosophy, if carefully cultivated by several, must gradually diffuse itself throughout the whole society, and bestow a similar correctness on every art and calling. The politician will acquire greater foresight and subtility, in the subdividing and balancing of power; the lawyer more method and finer principles in one’s reasonings; and the general more regularity in one’s discipline, and more caution in one’s plans and operations. The stability of modern governments above the ancient, and the accuracy of modern philosophy, have improved, and probably will still improve, by similar gradations. Were there no advantage to be reaped from these studies, beyond the gratification of an innocent curiosity, yet ought not even this to be despised; as being one accession to those few safe and harmless pleasures, which are bestowed on human race. The sweetest and most inoffensive path of life leads through the avenues of science and learning; and whoever can either remove any obstructions in this way, or open up any new prospect, ought so far to be esteemed a benefactor to humankind. #RandolphHarris 8 of 26

Image And though these researches may appear painful and fatiguing, it is with some minds as with some bodies, which being endowed with vigorous and florid health, require severe exercise, and reap a pleasure from what, to the generality of humankind, may seem burdensome and labourious. Obscurity, indeed, is painful to the mind as well as to the eye; but to bring light from obscurity, by whatever labour, must needs be delightful and rejoicing. However, this obscurity in the profound and abstract philosophy, is objected to, not only as painful and fatiguing, but as the inevitable source of uncertainty and error. Here indeed lies the justest and most plausible objection against a considerable part of metaphysics, that they are not properly a science; but arise either from the fruitless efforts of human vanity, which would penetrate into subjects utterly inaccessible to the understanding, or from the craft of popular superstitions, which, being unable to defend themselves on fair ground, raise these entangling brambles to cover and protect their weakness. Chased from the open country, these robbers fly into the forest, and lie in wait to break in upon every unguarded avenue of the mind, and overwhelm it with the religious fears and prejudices. #RandolphHarris 9 of 26

ImageThe stoutest antagonist, if one remits one’s watch a moment, is oppressed. And many, through cowardice and folly, open the gates to the enemies, and willingly receive them with reverence and submission, as their legal sovereigns. Because the New Being has universal scope and reaches all humans in a revelatory constellation, it is valid for humankind as such. Can we go further and extend the universality of the New Being in the Christ to the entire cosmos? In an indescribable way, it has meaning for the Universe also. Nothing less than this should be asserted by Christian theology. Our basic answer leaves the Universe open for possible divine manifestations in other areas or periods of being. Such possibilities cannot be denied. However, they cannot be proved or disproved. Incarnations is unique for the special group in which it happens, but it is not unique in the sense the other singular incarnations for other unique Worlds are excluded. If there are such other revelations in other spaces, we do not know. Yet the manifestations of the New Being in one place suggests that the New Being manifests itself wherever estrangement has to be conquered. Otherwise self-destruction would be the inescapable consequence. #RandolphHarris 10 of 26

ImageOmniscient Father: please help us to know who is telling the truth. One side tells us one thing, and the other just the opposite. And if neither side is telling the truth, we would like to know that, too. And Lord, please, if each side is telling half the truth, give us the wisdom to put the right halves together. In Jesus’s name, Amen. Truth and integrity have not only proven elusive for many in leadership, but likewise for our future leaders, some of women are literally schooling themselves in deception. Inventory shortages cost department stores and specialty chains $8 billion every year. Of that, 10 percent is attributed to clerical error, 30 percent to shoplifting, and a whopping 60 percent—or sixteen million dollars a day—to theft by employers. “Phone theft,” employees stealing phone service from their companies, is costing industry so much that call accounting has become one of the fastest growing parts of the telecommunications industry. Our current ethics at work are low, but they would be a lot lower were it not for the great number of ethical people who have entered the work force in recent years. The truth is, American culture is in big trouble. The colossal slide of integrity has grim spiritual, domestic, and political implications which threaten the survival of life as we know it. #RandolphHarris 11 of 26

ImageHowever, for the Christian, the most chilling fact is this: there is little statistical difference between the ethical practices of the religious and the nonreligious. Statistics show that 43 percent of non-church attenders admit to pilfering work supplies, compared to 37 percent of attenders. Seventeen percent of the unchurched use the company phone for long-distance personal calls, but 13 percent of those who attend worship do likewise. However, is this true of real Christians? The general ethical conduct of Christians varies only slightly from non-Christians, with grad exceptions, of course. Sadly, Christians are almost as likely as non-Christians to engage in misdeeds that many people do not even consider wrong. The main reason for the integrity crisis is that we humans are fundamentally dishonest. We are congenital liars. “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit,” reports Romans 3.13. No one had to instruct us in the art of dishonesty. Even once we are regenerated, if we do not like discipline ourselves under the Lordship of Christ, we return to deceit like a duck to water. Our situation is exacerbated by the subtle seas of deception which surge back and forth over our culture through its media, so much so that we scarcely know where reality is. #RandolphHarris 12 of 26

ImageMany Christian people traffic in delusion. Some who lack integrity do not even know it. Now, there are no formulas in the spiritual life, because it is not a life that runs on its own. It runs in interaction with God. The key is this “thought” dimension of the person, however, as with all others, is the Vision, Intention, Mission (VIM) structure. The greatest need lies in one’s vision, and without it nothing moves. Unless it is properly grasped, the intention will be malformed or nonexistent and the means implemented will be chaotic and ineffectual. The intention to be formed is to have the great God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ a constant presence in our own mind, crowding out every false idea or destructive image, all misinformation about God, and every crooked inference or belief. Thus it is the intention to use divinely powerful weapons “for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,” reports 2 Corinthians 10.3-5. Given the vision, the taking of this intention is something each of us must do or not do. “Just do it.” If you say, “I cannot,” remember, God will help you carry out the decision and form a solid intention. However, he will not do it for you. Have you decided to have God a constant present in your mind our not? #RandolphHarris 13 of 26

ImageOnce you have the Vision (V) and the Intention (I) in place, you will begin to find appropriate, orderly, bearable, and effectual means to fulfill the decision to realize the vision. There are certain tried-and-true disciplines we can use to assist in the transformation of our thought life toward the mind of Christ. Disciplines are activities that are in our power and that enable us to do what we cannot do by direct effort. We cannot transform our ideas and images, or even the information we have or our thought process, into Christlikeness by direct effort. However, we can do things—adopt certain practices—that, indirectly, will increasingly have the effect. The most obvious thing we can do is to draw certain key portions of Scripture into our minds and make them a part of the permanent fixtures of our though. This is primary discipline for the thought life. We need to know them like the back of our hand, and a good way to do that is to memorize them and then constantly turn them over in our minds as we go through the events and circumstances of our life. “Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up to the roof and said to them, “I know that the LORD has given this land to you and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you,” reports Joshua 1.8-9. #RandolphHarris 14 of 26

Image“Blessed in the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinner or sit in the seat of mockers. However, one’s delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law one meditates day and night. One is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yield its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever one does prospers. Not so the wicked! They are life chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD watches over they way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish,” reports Psalm 1. The desired effect will not be realized by focusing on isolated verses, but will certainly come as we ingest passages. “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into his grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. #RandolphHarris 15 of 26

Image“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous human, though for a good human someone might possibly dare to die. However, when God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” reports Romans 5.1-8. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because though Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful humans are death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, one does not belong to Christ. #RandolphHarris 16 of 26

Image“However, if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you. Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit tat makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Hi we cry, ‘Abba, Father,’” reports Romans 8.1-15. “If I speak in tongues of humans and of Angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. #RandolphHarris 17 of 26

Image“It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails. However, where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. However, the greatest of these is love,” reports 1 Corinthians 13. “Since, then you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on Earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your Earthly nature; sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. However, now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. #RandolphHarris 18 of 26

Image“Do not like to each other, since you have taken off your old self with is practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him, reports Colossians 3.1-17. When you take these into your mind, your mind will become filled with the light of God Himself. And light shines into darkness and darkness loses. When the light comes into a room, we do not have to say, “Now what are we going to do about the darkness?” It is gone! #RandolphHarris 19 of 26

ImageYou say, “I cannot memorize like that.” I assure you, you certainly can. God made your mind for it and He will help you. He really wants you to do this. Of course, that will be an integral part of the others changes that will permeate your life as a whole. As you choose to give your time and energy to, and plan your life around, the renovation of your mind, it will happen! However, you must choose to do it and learn how—just like learning to program and live with your DVR (Digital Video Recorder). Then you will know by experience that the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, and in all the deflections of life your mind will automatically re-center on God as the needle of the compass returns to the north. “And now it came to pass that Zeniff conferred the kingdom upon Noa, one of his sons; therefore Noah began to reign in his stead; and he did not walk in the ways of his father. For behold, he did not keep the commandments of God, but he did walk after the desires of his own hear. And he had many wives and concubines. And he did cause his people to commit sin, and do that which was abominable in the sight of the Lord. Yea, and they did commit whoredoms and all manner of wickedness. #RandolphHarris 20 of 26

Image“And he laid a tax of one fifth part of all they possessed, a faith part of their gold and of their sliver, and a fifth part of their ziff, and of their copper, and of their brass and of their iron; and a fifth part of their fatlings; and also a fifth part of all their grain. And all this did he take to support himself, and his wives and his concubines; and also his priests, and their wives and their concubines; thus he had changed the affairs of the kingdom. For he put down all the priests that had been consecrated new ones in their stead, such as were lifted up in pride of their hearts. Yea, and thus they were supported in their laziness, and in their idolatry, and in their whoredoms, by the taxes which king Noah had put upon his people; thus did the people labour exceedingly to support iniquity. Yea, and they also became idolatrous, because they were deceived by the vain and flattering words of the kings and priests; for they did speak flattering things unto them. And it came to pass that king Noah built many elegant and spacious buildings; and he ornamented them with fine work of wood, and of all manner of precious things, of gold, and of silver, and of iron, and of brass, and of ziff, and of copper; and he also built him a spacious palace, and a throne in the midst thereof, all which was fine wood and was ornamented with gold and silver and with precious things. #RandolphHarris 21 of 26

Image“And he also caused that his workmen should work all manner of fine work within the walls of the temple, of fine wood, and of copper, and of brass. And the seats which were set apart for the high priests, which were above all the other seats, he did ornament with pure gold; and he caused a breastwork to be built before them, that they might rest their bodies and their arms upon while they should speak lying and vain words to his people. And it came to pass that he built a tower near the temple; yea, a very high tower, even so high that he could stand upon the op thereof and overlook the land of Shilom, and also the land of Shemlon, which were possessed by the Laminates; and he could even look over all the land round about. And it came to pass the he caused many buildings to be built in the land of Shilom; and he caused a great tower to be built on the hill north of the land Shilom, which had been a resort for the children of Nephi at the time they fled out of the land; and this he did do with the riches which he obtained by the taxation of the people. And it came to pass that he placed his heart upon his riches, and he spent his time in riotous living with his wives and his concubines; and so did also his priests spend their time with harlots. #RandolphHarris 22 of 26

Image“And it came to pass the he planted vineyards round about in the land; and he built wine-presses, and made wine in abundance; and therefore he became a wine-bibber, and also his people. And it came to pass that the Lamanites began to come in upon his people, upon small numbers, and to slay them in their fields, and while they were tending their flocks. And king Noah sent guards round about the land to keep them off, but he did not send a sufficient number, and the Lamanites came upon them and killed them, and drove many of their flocks out of the land; thus the Lamanites began to destroy them, and to exercise their hatred upon them. And it came to pass that kind Noah sent his armies against them, and they were driven back for a time; therefore, they returned rejoicing in their spoil. And now, because of this great victory they were lifted up in the pride of their hearts; and they did boast in their own strength, saying that their fifty could stand against thousands of the Lamanites; and this they did boast, and did delight in blood, and the shedding of their blood of their brethren, and this because of the wickedness of their king and priests. #RandolphHarris 23 of 26

Image“And it came to pass that there was a man among them whose name was Abinadi; and he went forth among them, and began to prophesy, saying: Behold, thus saith the Lord, and thus hath he commanded me, saying, Go forth, and say unto this people, thus saith the Lord—We be unto this people, for I have seen their abominations, and their wickedness, and their whoredoms; and except they repent I will visit them in mine anger. And expect they repent and turn to the Lord their God, behold, I will deliver them into the hands of their enemies; yea, and they shall be brought into bondage; and they shall be afflicted by the hand of their enemies. And it shall come to pass that they shall know that I am the Lord their God, and am a jealous God, visiting the iniquities of my people. And it shall come to pass that except this people repent and turn unto the Lord their God, they shall be brought into bondage; and none shall deliver them, expect it be the Lord the Almighty God. Yea, and it shall come to pass that when they shall cry unto me I will be slow to hear their cries; yea, and I will suffer them that they be smitten by their enemies. And expect when they repent in sackcloth and ashes, and cry mightily to the Lord their God, I will not hear their prayers, neither will I deliver them out of their afflictions; and thus saith the Lord, and thus hath he commanded me. #RandolphHarris 24 of 26

Image“And it now came to pass that when Abinadi had spoken these words unto them they were wroth with him, and sought to take away his life; but the Lord delivered him out of their hands. Now when king Noah had heard of the words which Abinadi has spoken unto the people, he was also wroth; and he said: Who is Abinadi, that I and my people should be judged of him, or who is the Lord, that shall bring upon my people such great affliction? I command you to bring Abinadi hither, that I may slay him, for he has said these things that he might stir up my people to anger one with another, and to raise contentions among my people; therefore I will slay him. Now the eyes of the people were blinded; therefore they hardened their hearts against the words of Abinadi, and they sought from that time forward to take him. And king Noah harden his heart against the word of the Lord, and he did not repent of his evil doing,” reports Mosiah 11.1-29. May Thy servants, O Lord, who have been called to Thy grace, be unceasingly protected by Thy help; that they who have been regenerated in the divine Baptism, may never be plucked away from the power of Thy kingdom; through Jesus Christ or Lord. Unchangeable God, when I am discouraged in my ministry and full of doubts of myself, please fasten me upon the rock of Thy eternal election, then my hands will not hang down, and I shall have hope for myself and others. #RandolphHarris 25 of 26

ImageThou does know Thy people by name, and will at the appointed season lead them out of a natural to a gracious state by the effectual calling. This is the ground of my salvation, the object of my desire, the motive of my ministry. Please keep me from high thoughts of myself or my work, for I am nothing but sin and weakness; in me no good dwells, and my best works are but sin. Please humble me to the dust before Thee. Please root and tear out the poisonous weed of self-righteousness, and please shoe me my utter nothingness; keep me sensible of my sinnership; sink me deeper into penitence and self-abhorrence; break the Dagon of pride in pieces before the ark of Thy presence; demolish the Babel of self-opinion, and scatter it to the wind; level to the ground my Jericho walls of a rebel heart; then grace, grace, will be my experience an cry. I am a poor, feeble creature when faith is not in exercise, like an eagle with pinioned wings; grant me to res on thy power and faithfulness, and to know that there are two things worth living for: to further my cause in the World, and to do good to the souls and bodies of humans; this is my ministry, my life, my prayer, my end. Gran me grace that I shall not fail. #RandolphHarris 26 of 26Image
