God creates and morally guides. If the soul exists, we must be able to know it by its works; and its works must exceed the usual—normal—limits on what human beings might otherwise achieve. If there are still some people who say that the questions of soulfulness and paranormal power are independent issues, it is suggested that anyone who does indeed profess to believe in a soul while not believing in the soul’s potential for paranormal action, should be asked to have another think about just what it is they really do believe in. It is high time that we should awake from our sleep. Perhaps we have dreamed that we were servants and not heirs and heiresses. Now we must awake from this mesmeric state. Their heir and heiress must claim their inheritance; otherwise it is still kept from them and one has not the use of it. One must step forward before the car of justice, which is the Law of Cause and Effect, and declare that one is no longer a servant, a slave, but a master, a child of God, an heir or heiress. One must announce that all that the Father in Heaven has is ours. Thus, we lay claim to our true estate, laying claim in the name of God, and the inheritance is at once delivered. That which had been kept in store for us is delivered into our hands. #RandolphHarris 1 of 6

Even if we modern human beings like to think of ourselves as being in principle unlimited with regard to our physical potentialities, in reality if could be true that the soul never appears as a pure essence but is identified through props and manifestations. Its power can vary from individual to individual, and even in the same individual course of one’s life. Keep in mind that granted that the soul may not always deliver quite what we want quite when we want it, we ought at least to be happy to have evidence that the soul undoubtedly exists. The soul’s powers are in a different league from the material body. In the commonsense World of physics, repeatability is the norm: given the same circumstances, the same thing will regularly happen. Suppose, however, that once the soul has got involved, given the same circumstances, different things happen, or something happens only sporadically, or maybe even happens only once? Would this not be just the kind of thing we should expect? People generally do have low expectations of there being any orderly pattern to the World of spirits. When it comes to the behaviour of everyday objects, people think in terms of generalities and rules—antelope typically behave like this, water behaves like that, fire like that, and so on. #RandolphHarris 2 of 6

However, when it comes to behaviour, individuals do not expect ghosts, for example, to behave in such typical ways as other things that have a predictable pattern. And therefore in discussing the behaviour of ghost they use something more like case law, based on particular instances. Many religious representations do not consist of general principles, but of memories of singular episodes. This is why miracles are viewed as any effect that is miraculous when it exceeds the natural powers of the means employed. And different types of miracles happen at different times because we have already experienced a single case of nature being overridden by some supernatural intervention. Then in a traditional sense, miracles must be conceived of as involving the overriding of some natural order that is at least partly autonomous. A miracle is a miracle regardless of whatever anyone may happen to know or believe about it. Love precedes the miracle. Love is a process; it is not a program. The love of God can overcome any of the worries of our lives and heal any human affliction. For as the Lord said, “Whosoever believe on my words, them will I visit with the manifestation of my Spirit; and they shall be born of me, even of water and of the Spirit,” reports Doctrine and Covenants. #RandolphHarris 3 of 6

It matters not how completely ruined our lives may seem. It matters not how scarlet our sins, how deep our bitterness, how lonely, abandoned, or broken our hearts may be. Even those who are without hope, who live in despair, who have betrayed trust, surrendered their integrity, or turned away from God can be rebuilt. There is no life so shattered that it cannot be restored. Because of the eternal plan of happiness provided by our loving Heavenly Father, we can not only be redeemed from our fallen state and restored to purity, but we can also transcend mortal imagination be become heirs or heiresses of eternal life and partakers of God’s indescribably glory. The soul and God remain distinct in substance, although they are joined by the glue of love. Through which the human’s love flowing up to God and through the downward movement of God’s grace, the two become untied. We purify ourselves through prayer. We are illuminated by the divine mercy. We gain a continuing union with God through love. This love is nourished by concentrating upon God, to the exclusion of mutable things. When we choose to believe, exercise faith unto repentance, we open our spiritual eyes to splendors we can scarcely imagine. #RandolphHarris 4 of 6

The Lord’s tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessing, strength, protection, assurance, guidance, loving-kindness, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from and through our Savior. God determined us to be pleased by benevolent actions; and when nothing interferes with the moral sense, we count benevolence a virtue and malevolence a vice. Because we do have absolute moral obligations, it follows that God exists. If we recognize moral authority, we must ipso facto recognize the existence of God as alone able to confer that authority. We judge that the moral law retains its authoritativeness whether particular human wills are at any time actually accepting its rules and principles or not; therefore, the source of its authority must be possessed altogether outside those human wills. The notion of moral law itself is incomplete without reference to God, for law implies law-giver, a divine legislator. Our very acknowledgment of a moral law, therefore, presupposes theism. It has been claimed that there is remarkable degree of agreement among the moral judgments made by people in widely different cultures and historical periods. Many apparent disagreements can be attributed to differences in belief and thus held to be not fundamental. #RandolphHarris 5 of 6

This impressive measure of agreement, it is argued, can be accounted for only on the supposition that God has written his laws in the humans. Certain of the most interesting and interesting and influential moral arguments takes as their premise some part of the content of the moral law itself. We are under moral obligation to perfect ourselves and to attain a highest good (summum bonum) that is manifestly unattainable in a life lived under the conditions we know here and now. However, we can start to make a moral development that requires different conditions for its completion. And because that complee development is demanded of us at duty, it must be attainable. God and immortality are thus presupposed in our actual moral experience. We are children of God. We have a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers our prayers. He wants us to be worthy to return and live with him someday. Knowing this can help us plan for our Earthly and eternal future with a brightness of hope. As we look to the future, we must look beyond tomorrow. God is the authorizer of all our moral judgments—otherwise they would carry no authority. We show we know by living the commandment to love one another. #RandolphHarris 6 of 6
