Most people look to God as a helping father. We have faith in the principles which God represents; we think truth, lives love, and justice, and considers all of our lives valuable because it gives us a chance to unfold our human powers. To love God means that we are longing for the attainment of the full capacity to love, for the realization of that which God stands for in oneself, as we strive for the reality of spiritual salvation and inner birth. The realm of love is something we are able to develop throughout the process of evolution, as we long to experience God’s higher powers, his longing for truth, and his unity. The dark legions of the World fear most of all the innocence of God because it unmasks the disguises by which they hold sway over a large part of the World’s population. The love of God is neither the knowledge of God in thought, nor the thought of one’s love of God, but the act of experiencing the oneness with God. This leads to the emphasis on the right way of living. All of life, every little and every important action, is devoted to the knowledge of God, but a knowledge not in right thought, but in right action. Some believe it is important to represent a way of life according to which someone light strive for the well-being of others, whether friend or stranger, without caring about material rewards or Worldly success. #RandolphHarris 1 of 5
Many develop emotional habits that support right action, but in a matter of having reason to control passions and emotions so that they do not interfere with right action. Self-mastery or continence is considered virtue. Generosity is a duty that we are to preform, but one cannot be legally compelled to be generous, and when or how generosity is shown is not precisely specifiable. However, in the cause of generosity, the motive of the agent counts. For if I give money to a poor person I encounter on the street and do so because I want others to think well of me, I have not acted generously and performed my imperfect duty. When I give generously, I must do so out of concern for the good of the person to whom I give the money. If we adopt others’ happiness as an end, we will not take malicious pleasure in their downfall. On the contrary, we will naturally feel gratitude for their benevolence and sympathy for their happiness. These feelings will make it easier for us to perform our duties and are a sign that we are disposed to do so. Sympathy is one of the impulses that nature has implanted in us to do what the representation of duty alone would not accomplish. We preform the duties of virtue with the properly cultivated emotions. And if we perform our duties of virtue in the right spirit, one part of us, reason, retains control over the other part, passion. #RandolphHarris 2 of 5
Virtue contains a beneficial command to human beings, namely to bring all of our capacities and inclination under our (reason’s) and control and so to rule over ourselves, for unless reason holds the reins of government in its own hands, human being’s feelings and inclinations play the master over them. The correct way to be passionate is to use our passional nature in a way that fosters morality. For morality moves us to action whereas reason alone does not always. Therefore, virtues can arise from our feelings and desires. We accept the instruction from God reverently as or guide and goal. God knows the worth of our souls. He wants to heal the brokenhearted, deliver the captives, and heal the sick. God wants to lift up our eyes unto Heaven, and be merciful to us. The Universal creative spirit is present everywhere and is within every living being. Humans are created free, with the possibility of limitless expansion, and let alone to discover themselves. During this process of self-discovery, humans bring upon themselves, through the operation of the law of mine, the experiences they imagine in their thoughts. However, the divine providence leads to harmony and that is why we are encouraged to focus on God. #RandolphHarris 3 of 5
We are never really alone when we love God. God holds before us the great promise of the final redemption of human beings through his laws and our relation to the divine spirit. There is always something at the innermost depths of our being which never completely loses a sense of our spiritual nature. “Humans are free according to the flesh; and all things are given to them which are expedient unto humans. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all humans, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the great adversary; for the adversary seeks that al people might be miserable like unto himself (2 Nephi 2.27).” Necessity for self-preservation makes of want to band together and have organized leadership. These are the factors that makes a nation great. The spiritual impulses are fundamental to the nature of our being. Those nearest us need love also. We must organize our people so that they work together effectively in commerce, agriculture, industry, and international relations. If we undertake and continue the development of the Kingdom of God under divine guidance, we will bring a quality of love to reign and it will compliment our organizational ability and the intellect soul. #RandolphHarris 4 of 5
Seeing that our merciful God has given us so great knowledge concerning these things, let us remember him, and lay aside our sins, and not hand down our heads, for we are not cast off. We have inherited by far the richest and most powerful kingdom of the World at this time. We possess great wisdom and understanding. The hope is that we will return to the true knowledge of the Kingdom of God and the final triumph of spiritual power. It is too easy for people to forget that there is a supreme ruler at the center of the nation of ourselves, whose sovereignty is fixed in love and enthroned. This ruler is God. It is only as we turn our thoughts away from this spiritual sovereignty that our faculties and energies become dispersed. This makes us a weakened nation, subject to the invasion of every fear, doubt, aliment, and temptation that presents itself at the borders of our experience. There knowledge that life can never destroy itself and that trust crushed to Earth shall rise again. Our own souls eternally proclaim that we should not forget that the very power which created this World is the power that builds the bridge for the remnant to return to the Holy Land. Let the Kingdom of God be real and very practical. Let us know right now that we are established in the kingdom of health, happiness, and wholeness, because we are established in the Kingdom of God. #RandolphHarris 5 of 5
