Our First Love–Happy Birthday Canada!

We are all born for love. It is the principle of existence, and its only end. Culture is halfway to Heaven. History, steadily and objectively regarded, will be seen to be without center or ultimate cultural configurations. The careers of such cultures, constitute the only meaning to be found in the course of history as a whole; they are pockets of unconnected significance in a wilderness of human life, most of which is historyless. All that philosophical study of history can attempt is a comparative morphology of cultures—an inquiry into the typical form of their life, their rhythms, and possibly their laws—aimed at giving categories and interpretative framework to empirical historiography. Culture is a spiritual phenomena, although rooted in a natural landscape. A culture is the spiritual orientation of a group of people who have achieved some unitary conception of their World which informs all their activities—their art, religion, and philosophy, their politics and economies, even their well-being—and which is expressible in a distinctive concept of the space in which they live and act. The concept of space functions as the culture’s prime symbol and is the key to understanding of its history. #RandolphHarris 1 of 5

The growth of the mind is the widening of consciousness. Canada Day celebrates the birthday of Canada. 150 years, ago, 1867 July 1, Canada became a new federation with its own constitution by signing the Constitution Act—Formerly known as the British North America Act. This united the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada. Canada became a kingdom in its own right within the British Empire named the Dominion of Canada, and gained an increased level of political control and governance over its own affairs, although the British parliament and Cabinet sill maintained political control over certain areas such as foreign affairs, national defense, and constitutional changes.  Canada Day is considered the birthday of Canada. Birthdays are important because they are a point of reckoning, a marker in the steady progression of days that help people focus on what is important and the celebration of life, freedom, and health. It allows society, as a whole to think about how far they have come and how far they have travelled. Perfect love has a breath of poetry which can exalt the relations of the least-instructed human beings.  #RandolpHarris 2 of 5

A true hearted lover forgets all trespasses. Folkways are the simplest version of cultural norms. They fall for the most part into the category of good manners. If you follow them, things tend to flow more smoothly for you. Canada Day expresses a definite form of the human spirit and the opportunity both to appreciate progress and to look ahead. Most communities across the country will host organized celebrations for Canada Day. Traditionally, there are parades, carnivals, festivals, parties, barbecues, airplane shows, firework, music, and some people like to relax in the garden or by the pool with their close friends and family. There are also citizenship ceremonies to welcome new comers. It is a time of growing cities, spreading commerce, and creative maturity. Some people might show their patriotism by making a Canada Day Cake, which consists of white cake mix, white frosting, and on top strawberries in the shape of the Canadian flag. Lobster rolls, Nanaimo bar ice cream pops, classic butter tarts, Dutchies, poutine, Pacific salmon, Canadian apples, and peameal bacon are other traditional foods that may be served. #RandolphHarris 3 of 5

Personal development involves a process of individuation, growth as an individual in which each person can better understand both themselves and aspects of a universal level of the unconscious mind. Individuation refers to the effort to become a whole person and to grow into one’s true and limitless self. Individuation involves choosing to become fully conscious of all that we are. If a person feels secure, adequate, and worthy, there is far less chance that one will be a discipline issue. A reflection of feeling and acceptance meets one’s need for understanding. Thus, we come to actualizing feeling-centered discipline as the alternative to action-centered control. It has self-control, rather than the blind obedience to others, as its goal. The individual who is being disciplined must be accepted as a human being—not as an automaton—with rights and feelings of one’s own. The parent who can handle attitudes and feelings well will also handle discipline issues skillfully. If the emotional climate around the house is generally warm and accepting, the person will feel secure even when firmness is used and when appropriate limits are set in accord with one’s development level. There are times when, to a lover’s mind, love dwarfs all ordinary concepts. #RandolphHarris 4 of 5

The family is a good institution because it is uncongenial. The human soul includes beneficial traits like liberty, equality, and freedom of opinion. We know ourselves through the World, and the World is enhanced with our every act of self-knowledge. The lovers’ eyes are sharp to see, and lovers’ ears in hearing; and love, in life’s extremity, can lend an hour of cheering. You have the keenest powers to see and hear seemed in the frame residing. The human heart is so found of happiness, that we give easy credit to what we wish. Lord, you are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name: Do not forsake us, Lord our God. Our father in Heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, you will be done, on Earth as in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. Be our light in the darkness, Lord, and in your great mercy defend us from all perils. Watch over us both day and night, who work while others sleep, and grant that we may never forget that our common life depends on each other. Real love and truth are stronger in the end than any evil or misfortune. #RandolphHarris 5 of 5
