I have to get to the point of the absolute and unquestionable relationship that takes everything exactly as it comes from God. God never guides us at some time in the future, but always here and now. Realize that the Lord is here now, and the freedom you receive is immediate psychology that allows one to approach human life not with scientific abstractions, but perceptively and with an appreciation of cultural values. As children of God, we must stand alone so very much alone that we never realize we are alone. In the early stages of the Christian life, disappointments will come—people who used to be lights of hope and joy will shine unsteadily; vary rapidly in brightness. God’s children have a secret life and we have a good understanding with God all the time. It is essentially an aesthetic perception of cultural forms in individual life and motivated by a love for the personal values involved in God’s engineering, and wherever he places us, our one supreme goal should be to devoted our lives wholeheartedly to God in that particular work. Never seek after anything other than the approval of God. One life totally devoted to God is of more value to Him, than one hundred lives which have been simply awakened by His Spirit. The six forms of value—all of which are objectively rooted in the historical and cultural order, and each of which may be supernaturally inspired may dominate a person’s life in modern culture are theoretical, economic, aesthetic, social, political, and religious. Are you seeking great things for yourself instead of seeking to be a great person? God wants you to be in a much closer relationship with Himself than simply receiving His gifts—God wants you to get to know Him. Even some large things we want is only incidental; it comes and it goes. However, God never gives us anything incidental. There is nothing easier than getting into the right relationship with God. If you will remain true to God, God will lead you directly through every barrier and right into the inner chamber of the knowledge of God—which center respectively in the values of truth, utility, beauty, love, power, and in religion, in the devotion to a vital totality of purified faith and value also long as you remain true to God. The moral is not a distinct type of value, but enters into all valuations. Faith is a withdrawal into inwardness. God has promised to swallow up death forever. Successful love may sometimes use the language of flattery, but hopeless love always speaks the truth. I am under your spell and only you can save me. So, pull me in and do not let go. I want to fall forever, I want to overflow. If we try to prove to God how much we love Him, it is a sure sign that we really do not love Him. The evidence of our love for Hi is the absolute spontaneity of our love, which flows naturally from His nature within us. The life of God exhibits itself in this spontaneous way because the foundations of His love are in the Holy Spirit. Certainty is the mark of the commonsense life—gracious uncertainty is the mark of the spiritual life. To be certain of God means that we are uncertain in all our ways, not knowing what tomorrow may bring. We are uncertain of the next step, but we are certain of God. As soon as we abandon ourselves to God and do the task He has placed closest to us, God begins to fill out lives with surprises.
