The Sacred Mirror of the Soul of God’s Vision

If you meet each development of every question in the most natural and reasonable manner—presupposing that you possess that highest attribute of civilization, common sense—no question will ever resolve itself into a problem. And difficulties usually disappears as the range of vision contracts. Because I utter commonplace words, you must not suppose I think only commonplace thoughts. Let us always have people ready to give the loving pains of a life to the faithful in representing of commonplace things—people who see beauty in these commonplace things, and delight in showing how kindly the light of Heaven falls on them, even while we are talking about the Earth’s orbit and the solar system, what we feel and adjust our movements to is the stable Earth and the changing day. I shall know why, when time is over, and I have ceased to wonder why; Christ will explain each separate anguish in the fair schoolroom of the sky. He will tell me what Peter promised, and I, for wonder at his woe, I shall forget the drop of anguish that scalds me now, that scalds me now. #RandolphHarris 1 of 7

My great ambition is to acquire knowledge. Some of my ideas may be too advanced for my own generation, but I maintain the conviction that I will someday be appreciated at my true value. It is my goal to be eminently successful, and emerge from this period of self-education with an excellent command of mathematics and considerable proficient in Greek, Italian, and English culture. Having mind or attitude that is open to new ideas and opinions is important. However, doubt is the beginning of wisdom and often its end. Our true opinions are those to which we return most often. Developing a philosophy of science which looks far into the future is a useful way for speeding up discourse and the foundation upon which sciences are built; but as symbols emptied of their ideas, they are obstacles to clear thinking. Those who use abstractions must have constant recourse to examples, giving them perceptibility and physical reality. The mind is nothing but the brain functioning; the will is the latest impulse of desire and aversion. The naming of things is purely conventional. #RandolphHarris 2 of 7

It is just amazing that the blind are unable to appreciate the alleged perfection of the order and beauties of nature, and express their constant doubts as to the existence of nature, but people with vision rarely enjoy and proceed to discuss aesthetic theories, especially the importance of gesture to communication. Am I seeking only for the evidence of God’s kingdom, or am I actually recognizing His absolute sovereign control? The new birth gives me a new power of vision by which I begin to discern God’s control. It was a warm Summer’s day and the golden daisies were in full bloom, the scent of lilac tickled my nose and intimately caressing my heart, causing it to fluttered like a butterfly. God’s sovereignty was there all the time, but with God being true to His nature, I could not see it until I received God’s very nature myself. It is possible to know all about doctrine and still not know Jesus. A person’s soul is in grave danger when the knowledge of doctrine surpasses Jesus Christ, avoiding intimate touch with Him. Do I have a person history with Jesus Christ? The one true sign of discipleship is intimate oneness with Him—a knowledge of Jesus that nothing can shake. #RandolphHarris 3 of 7

Observation and the classification of natural phenomena are the first and essential step, but the great scientist must perceive relationships and form hypotheses, subject to experimental verification. Have I ever heard Jesus Christ say something difficult and unyielding to me? Has He said something personally to me to which I have deliberately listened—something I have heard Him say directly to me? Our Lord knows perfectly well that once His word is truly heard, it will yield results in our present lives. Will we final makes up our minds to be devoted to Him? The poetic imagination is closely associated with the scientific, both in theory and practice. To the genius, whether poet or scientist, will come to sudden perception of a new relationship, resulting in poetic metaphor or useful hypothesis can be answered by considering has God’s Word ever come to you, pointing out an area of your life, requiring you to yield to Him? Maybe He has pointed out certain personal qualities, desires, and interest, or possibly relationships of your heart and mind. If so, then you have often been speechless with sorrow. #RandolphHarris 4 of 7

Discouragement is disillusioned self-love, and self-love may be love for my devotion to Jesus Christ—not love for Jesus Himself. My own mind works in sudden flashes of perception. My best philosophical works are random or loosely associated thoughts or observations—or dreams. The Universe is a single physical system, obeying immutable laws assigned to matter in motion; it is dynamic or becoming, rather than static or created. Motion was not added, but is essential to matter. Not only bodies are affected by external force, but the atom contains internal forces, a form of kinetic or potential energy. All things carry with them their opposites; being and not-being are part of every whole. Living, I act and react as a mass; dead, I act and react in the form of molecules. Birth, life, decay, are merely changes of form. No knowledge is gained, no solution reached, in postulating a Creator or supernatural agency to account for material phenomena. All changes, including the transformation of the Universe from chaos to order, is to be explained by the interaction of the elementary material particles. What human beings perceive as order is simply their apprehension of the laws of motion as enacted by material bodies. #RandolphHarris 5 of 7

If Jesus Christ is truly a regenerator, someone who can put His own heredity of holiness into me, then I can begin to see what He means when He says that I have to be holy. Redemption means that Jesus Christ can put into anyone the hereditary nature that was in Himself. The proper action on my part is simply to agree with God’s verdict on sin as judged on the Cross of Christ. Our Lord took on Himself the sin of the World through identification with us, not through sympathy for us. He deliberately took on His own shoulders, and endured in His own body, the complete, cumulative sin of the human race. Jesus Christ reconciled the human race, putting it back to where God designed it to be. And now anyone can experience that reconciliation, being brought into oneness with God. By postulating both motion and sensitivity as inherent in matter, the entire range of natural phenomena (both physical and mental) and the full variety of experience can be adequately explained. All that nature contains is the product of matter in motion, subject to the process of fermentation produced by heat; through eons of time growth, increasing complexity, and specialization have occurred. #RandolphHarris 6 of 7

There are no inexplicable gulfs between the various kingdoms. The known facts concerning the inorganic, the organic, plant, animal, and humans, are like islands jutting out of a sea of ignorance. As the waters receded through scientific investigation, the missing links will be discovered. The things we are going through are either making us sweeter, better, and nobler men and women, or they are making us more critical and fautfindings and more insistent on our own way. When we understand God’s purpose, we will not become unwilling to accept or consider other people’s different ideas and behavior, nor will we become cynical. Jesus prayed nothing less for us than absolute oneness with Himself, just as He was one with the Father. Some of us are far from this oneness; yet God will not leave us alone until we are one with Him. God, your enthusiasm warms my ice-cold heart; your brevity encourages my enduring  for love; your care arouses my gratitude. May we long for the bright future throughout the wave light and fog of the love lake. #RandolphHarris 7 of 7
