Do not make this darkness your house when you can turn on the Light. Do not you wander here searching and moaning. You go on Turn back on this time and place and beg for the gates to open. Searing flash of angels, I drifted deeper, brain descending into the sweetness of human exhaustion—far from the ring of the anvil between the Worlds, far from the torrent of Heaven. I was refreshed. The evil little cells in my body had done their dirty and inevitable work. And if I would have had any terrible dreams, I did not remember them. We are principled creatures. I never stopped loving you, not for an instant. I warned you twice to be patient with your family because I knew it was right for you to do so. I was trying to curb your insults, and your abuse of those you loved. However, you would not listen to me. Since moral knowledge is a sentiment or feeling which arises on the observation of an action or character trait, it is not the result of comparing ideas, and this it cannot be a conclusion of reason. #RandolphHarris 1 of 5

Any actual experience of love could enter into such a system only as a harbinger (something that shows what is coming) of disaster. For not only could one be burned at the stake in punishment for adultery, but, according to current belief, one would also burn forever in Hells. And yet love came, even so, to such noble hearts as were celebrated at the Foam and Diamond party; not only came, but was invited in. And it was the work of the troubadours to celebrate this passion, which in their view was of a divine grace altogether higher in dignity than the sacraments of the Church, higher than the sacrament of marriage, and if excluded from Heaven, then sanctified in Hell. And that the word AMOR was the reverse spelling for ROMA seemed marvelously to epitomize the sense of the contrast. So, through the eyes love attains the heart: for the eyes are the scouts of the heart, and the eyes go reconnoitering for what it would please to the heart to possess. And when they are in full accord and firm, all three, in the one resolve, at that time, perfect love is born, from what the eyes have made welcome to the heart. #RandolphHarris 2 of 5

Not otherwise can love be born or have commencement than by this birth and commencement moved by inclination. To be noted well: such a noble love is not indiscriminate. It is not a love thy neighbor as thyself no matter who one may be; nit agape, charity or compassion. Nor is it an expression of the general will to gender, which is equally indiscriminate. It is of the order, that is to say, nether of Heaven nor of Hell, but of Earth; grounded in the psyche of a particular individual and, specifically, the predilection of one’s eyes: their perception of another specific individual and communication of one’s image to another’s heart—which is to be (as we are told in other documents) a noble or gentle heart, capable of the emotion of love, amor, not simply lust. The lover is to experience depths beyond depths of transcendent illumination—much in the way Prince Charming appreciates Cinderella. Love is a celebrated experience that can never be absolutely realized on this Earth. #RandolphHarris 3 of 5

Love’s joy is in its savor of eternity; love’s pain, the passage of time; bitter sweetness and dear grief are of its essence. And for those who cannot bear grief, and desire but to bathe in bliss, the ambrosial potion of this greatest gift of life is a drink too strong. Love me, love the way love must be, unsparing love. Across the perilous void I moved, as if stepping off the very World itself, and I kissed your lips, wet and reeking of the foul water, and I felt a great current come from inside me, a wind out of the deepest root in me that swept inexorably into you and carried you far, far away, up and out, you from growing faint and immense and brilliant. One immediate discovery was that every negative feeling or thought is associated with guilt, and this guilt is so all-encompassing that it is constant being suppressed. There is guilt every time when have a critical thought about someone. The mind’s constant judging and criticizing of the World, its events and people, is an unending source of guilt. It is that deadly combination which pulls us all down and creates such widespread illness and unhappiness. #RandolphHarris 4 of 5

The guilt is so omnipresent that no matter what we are doing we feel somewhere in our mind that we should be doing something else. We have lived with so much guilt for so long that we do not even recognize it anymore, and somehow that guilt is projected by the average mine onto the World around it. That is why most people need an enemy—and object on which to project their inner guilt. It is also where tyrants get their power, by manipulating people’s guilt and finding a satisfactory target for it. All his life he wanted to be very much liked by people. He went to the party because he wanted to make an impression on Dr. Z. Over time, the experience of knowing is replaced by thinking. Knowing comes on in a totally different manner. Believe me what I say there are ancient ones of our kind who would never tolerate such a thing happening. I have a stronger desire which I am using the time to satisfy, for instance, a desire to finish a book or a desire to lie in a hammock and do nothing. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 5
