Envision yourself, tired after a rotten day, watching the evening news on TV with David Muir. The first story, following an endless string of commercial, is about genetically modified foods, a newly cloned species, and the controversy over human cloning. What would you do? I had been waiting for almost a week before I finally got the call I had been expecting from my mother. She left a vague message with Ava that she had something that she wanted me to pick up at her house. Of course, this drove Ava crazy, but it was the first time my mother had received deliveries for e and refused to share any information with my daughter. She loved Ava, but was very good about protecting my interests. Besides, the things I had delivered to my mother’s house were normally just gifts for Ava and Deacon that I did not want them to open before their birthdays, so my mother’s secret-keeping was pretty innocent, at least until now. I knew that this time the delivery would be the results of the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which is the double-stranded molecule that contains the genetic code. DNA is a main component of chromosomes. The DNA molecule is composed of two chains of even smaller molecules called nucleotides. We live in an age when genetic discoveries and genetically based technologies are advancing daily, and they will have a profound affect on your life. In a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), nucleotides are stacked on top of one another to form a chain that is bonded along its bases to another to form a chain that is bonded along its bases to another nucleotide chain. Together the two twist to form a spiral, or helical, shape. The resulting DNA molecule, then, is two-stranded and is described as forming a double helix that resembles a twisted ladder. The results of the DNA test, which were supposed to be sent in a plain envelop without the company logo on it, were of the utmost importance. With the unmarked envelope, I was confident my mother had no idea what she was keeping for me in her house. I had decided to have the results sent to my parents’ house instead of my house because I did not want someone to steal my mail while I was at work or on vacation and I could not be sure someone gossip tabloid would not open the letter before I had a chance to pick it up. The call from my mother had come in the morning, and the wait to go over there and get it felt like torture. I wanted to go as soon as possible to get an answer about this reporter’s paternity, but I could not leave until late in the afternoon, when Deacon was off at Little League practice, and Ava went to rehearsals for Legally Blonde, the Broadway play. They loved my parents, mostly because they spoiled their grandkids, and seeing their roots in Wilmington, Delaware USA gave them a sense of identity; so if they knew I was going to my parents’ house, they would have insisted on going with me. The sense of community, when it is sound, gives men an equal sense of order and of disruptive forces. Surely that is conveyed again and again in the body of my vast work. When I pulled up in front of my mother’s house, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. This was the house I grew up in, and memories flooded me as I sat, my engine idling. I looked up at the roof where I “broke” my left arm. My eyes traveled to the porch I used to jump from with my skateboard, then I saw my old surfboard. Those were the good old days, when life was simple…not the mess my life was not. I felt like a little boy again, and although I did not want to admit it, I wanted to move back to the house with my parents again. I was beyond exhaustion. I had been crying and crying because I was trying so hard not to beat this bitch ass for making a mess of my life and my family, while she was trying to use me to become famous. Man, my mother warned me of these gold digging hoes. The chills came again. A wild vision possessed me of snatching her up and away from this place, as my teeth pressed to her neck, her blood mine, all the chambers of her soul yielding to me. I banished it. I had told this woman not to talk to me or my kids every again. I do not want to be shown as a miserable victim, I am a man of a single-track mind. And the community was in an uproar about this alleged journalist son of mine. A little shock went through m when my eyes met his, and suddenly when I turned to look in his direction again, he had vanished. He was wearing something, I supposed. What was it? Oh, yeah, the de rigueur Delaware white linen three-piece suit. Hmm. So this mortal sees ghosts. People were examining me all too closely. I do not know. There is something wrong with the way ghost act. And the same holds true for angels. I am not saying there is not an afterlife, but why is he acting so elusive, like he is sacred of me or I make him nervous? Nonetheless, I am only maintaining that those entities who come down here so beneficently to meddle with us are more than a little cracked. I am sick of people back there, in Hollywood, California USA, stalking and studying me. Why could I not just talk to this young man for a moment, comfort him, vanish with him upstairs, watch 2 Broke Girls, Supernatural, Grimm, and American Gothic, his favorite Shows, then tear this house apart, fly with him to another part of the World, and build a palace deep in the Amazon jungles for my family to rest in peace? There was something defenseless about this guy. I notice he was also studying me with a sharp angry expression on his face. So what? #RyaPhillippe 5 of 6

Like it or not, you already eat genetically modified foods, and sadly, you may soon see genetically altered bacteria and viruses used to make biological weapons, which is why it is important to get vaccinated, and if you are going to have the sex, use protection like a condom and frequently wash your hands. Fortunately, many people great social and mental hygiene and you will also see many of the secrets of evolution revealed through genetic research. So even if you have not been particularly interested in genetic research and genetic issues, you should be aware that they affect your life on a daily basis. So, are you going to change the channel?
