There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy, but there is also much in philosophy which is found neither in Heaven nor Earth. As I sit here, I find myself thinking that I wish I never interacted with the media, but experience consists in experiencing what one does not care to experience. Human life is divided into two halves; during the first, one looks forward to the second, and during the second, one looks backward to the first. The attributes of the greatest men were all united in himself. Like Alexander, his head was titled to one side; like Caesar, he always had something in his hair. He could drink coffee like Leibnitz, and once settled in his armchair, he forgot eating and drinking like Newton, and like him, he had to be awakened. He wore a wig like Dr. Johnson, and like Cervantes, the fly of his trousers was always open. Thought must concern itself with the connecting-paths between ideas without allowing itself to be misled by their intensities. Every relationship has a procedural grammar to feed in new ideas and experience. I would watch the faces of those intellectual and professionals growing grave, and set—as the truth hit home to them. Like the alcoholic, the junkie can never start to cure himself until he recognizes and accepts his true condition. You are a hooked man! It might take months before the addict come to grips with this. You have to realize why you take dope. Every addict takes junk to escape something. Some people are trying to narcotize themselves against the reality that they are human. You cannot go around scratching like a money, smelling all bad, living mad, hungry, stealing and running and hiding from reality. It had become clear that when the World can no longer be made a coherent, either through explanation or action, then many seek coherence elsewhere. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 7

In a World gone mad as the result of overwhelming complexity, the need for coherence does not diminish. Its need becomes even greater. If we cannot find coherence in ideas or intellectual patterns alone, then we seek it in alternate forms, in a cult of personalities; in pseudo pop heroes; in entertaining and amusing faces that soothe over our need for satisfying explanations. If the latter part of the century has succeeded in anything, it is in the deliberate manufacturing and distribution of celebrities on a wide scale. Many have developed a fascination with celebrities that borders on the sociopathic. It is precisely on account of this generation of affect that these ideas are not accessible even by way of the preconscious thoughts to which they have transferred the energy of the wishes connected with them. Many confuse active participation with warmth and friendliness, but more of that later. Indirectly, we have known that for centuries, as seen in accumulating evidence to support the physiological base of the polarities in human understanding. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 7

They are traitors: nice honorable men! Or when someone transcribes a collection of unheard-of brutalities and cynicisms as expressions of people with temperaments, this, too, is a representation through opposite. After the plane landed, I ran straight through the baggage claim area to the exit for the cab stand. I did not give a damn about my luggage. I would get that later. Once in the cab, I gave the driver my address and told him to step on it. Of course, you know, I tried to call my house again, but I still got the answering machine. For the next fifteen minutes, I stared blankly out the window. When we pulled in front of my apartment, my hands started shaking so badly I could not pull out the money to pay the driver. I was scared, more scared than I have ever been in my life, but that fear was overridden by my desperation to see if my family was still in our home. When I stepped in front of my apartment, I heard voices coming from behind the door. I could not make out what they were saying, and I felt my heart sink. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 7

My mind had been clouded ever since the delivery man dropped off my stuff along with the Dear John Letter (often a letter letting you know someone broke up with you and left before you even realized the relationship was over). However, this was no longer designated as wit, but as irony. Indeed, the only technique that is characteristic of irony is representation through the opposite. Besides, one reads and hears about ironical wit. Hence, there is no longer any doubt that technique alone is not capable of characterizing wit. There must be something else which we have not yet discovered. On the other hand, the fact that the reduction of the technique destroys the wit still remains uncontradicted. I am not sure what you all take away from this essay, they are all different, but I certainly enjoy preparing them from you. It has actually helped to restore a sense of peace to my life and each and every day things get better. I have learned to detach from people, dates, images, events, and other symbols people try to use to hurt us. These are the moments of breaking through into the experiencing of our real inner being. We except that when we turn on the kitchen faucet, beer will not pour out, but water will. We assume that working overtime will eventually lead to a raise. And we trust that spades will be black, not red. The stronger these assumed relationships are, the more automatically and actively our minds foist them upon whatever we encounter. The only way we can manage the flood of perception is by creating and automatically deferring to working theories of what we are going to encounter—beliefs about the World, in the broadest sense. That is how we cope with unreality. How the pain causes the original nature to break through all the strata of education, and how an important decision is rightly made dependent upon a seemingly inconsequential utterance. #RyanPhillippe 6 of 7

Thought is powerful because it has a high rate of vibration. A thought is actually a thing; it has an energy pattern. The more energy we give it, the more power it has to manifest itself physically. Superimposed around the physical body is an energy body whose form is very much like that of the physical body, which forms a celestial sphere around you, and whose patterns actually control the physical body. This control is at the level of thought or intention. Advanced sub-atomic quantum physics has shown, similarly, that observation influences sub-atomic high-energy particles. Some of the things I have seen recently, I really do not understand, and not speaking on a metaphysical level. Just some of the things people do and the times they do them makes me wonder. Even the Muses are not well disposed to him, he has at least the genius of speech in his power, or rather he knows how to violate him; for he lacks the free love of this genius, besides he must perseveringly run after this youth, and he knows only how to grasp the outer forms which in spite of their beautiful rotundity, never express themselves nobly. #RyanPhillippe 7 of 7
