Okay it Happened and Now it is Time to Move on

One of the ways the memory of helplessness is store is as muscle tension or feelings of disintegration in the affected body areas: head, back, neck, feet, hand and fingers, stomach chest, and arms and legs. The lives of many trauma survivors come to revolve around bracing against and neutralizing unwanted sensory experiences, and most people I see in my practice have become experts in such self-numbing. As a result of hiding their emotions, they may become serially obese, anorexic, or addicted to exercise or work. At least 50 percent of all traumatized people try to dull their intolerable inner World with drugs or alcohol, and others flood their minds with therapy and new thoughts. Many people try to find things they enjoy to make the numbing go away like funny movies, hikes in the park, swimming or sports.  #RyanPhillippe 1 of 5

xfcghjm,

The purpose of numbing or blocking out the trauma is people feel like if they forget about it, then it will go away. Another purpose is when people are chronically angry or scared, constant muscle tension officially leads to spasms, back pain, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, and other forms of chronic pain. They may visit multiple specialists, undergo extensive diagnostic tests, and be prescribed multiple medications, some of which fail to address the underlying issues. Their diagnosis will come to define their reality without ever being identified as a symptom of their attempt to cope with trauma. The first two years of therapy, it is reasonable to focus on learning to tolerate your physical sensations for what they are—just sensations in the present, with a beginning, a middle, and an end. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 5

Truth, the most powerful of all things, is the strongest friend of innocence. In our therapy sessions, we work on staying calm enough to notice what we are feeling without judgement, so that we can observe these unbidden images and feelings as residues of a terrible past and not as unending threats to our lives today. The goal is to continuously challenge us to find new ways of helping people regulate their arousal and control their own physiology. One major issues many trauma survivors has is trust issues. They feel they cannot trust anyone, and a constantly trying to figure out who is loyal, and this causes them to shut down emotionally and run cold, some say they can physically feel cold spots when these people come around, and that their vibration is so cloaked to the point it seems they appear and disappear at will and are able to process temporal distortions. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 5

The truth is always incredible, because the blind eyes of humanity can see only half-truths except by great effort. We distrust each other in this World way too much. However, that is understandable when nothing is truly impartial. Everyone has feelings, emotions, and most have a desire for money, so even if someone cares about you and does not need money, their love and concern for you, although it may be good, could cloud your judgement. Conversely, there are a lot of dark souls, and money and profit is their motive. So when it comes to subjective judgments, they are never truly non-bias. Truth is powerful, and it is not always that we do not believe what we eagerly wish. Trust and truth go hand and hand. Trust is the act of placing confidence in someone or something else, and it is a fundamental human experience, necessary for society to function and for any person to be relatively happy. Without trust, fear rules. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 5

People have trust issues because of experiences in life. They were violated or abused at some time in their lives, experienced social rejection, were treated like outcast, and it eventually impacts their self-esteem. Basically, to overcome trust issues, you have to get to know yourself and slowly open up to others, but do not talk about anything personal and trust your instincts. Vanity plays lurid tricks with our memory, and the truth of every passion wants some pretense to make it live. And if you [must] turn away from the needy awaiting mercy from your Lord, which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word.  And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 5
