The agitation of the mind baffles all the power of medicine, and till the mind is relieved, the body can never be restored. It is impossible to study the human frame without a little studying the human mind. Generally, when someone is truly mentally ill, people ask: Who are you and how can we help you have a life? Mental illness is not a joke and if someone is actually mentally ill and you take upon yourself to gang up on that person and slander them, how is that helping and why are you doing it? It is fun to you? And no matter how many times we see people shooting up clubs or blowing up airports, it seems to me that we would not joke about mental health because what if someone is actually mentally ill and wants to get help, but sees how CBS13, CW31, FOX40, ABC10, and NBC Universal has spent a decade slandering and encouraging people and even some of their reporters to physically attack the son of a veteran, who has been looking for work? #RyanPhillippe 1 of 6

There is often something poisonous in their air of public rooms. This type of demonization and stigmatizing might make people who are actually mentally ill preclude being treated because they may be afraid that someone might put their business out in the streets like the 5 O’clock news, and they will never have a normal life nor another job ever again and be forced to live on government benefits, which could be cut off at any time, depending on how the person dealing with your case feels. With such pervasive problems and such dysfunctional professional, we are tempted to ascribe their problems to bad genes. However, you have never heard of an employee at Walmart or Safeway being able to make not even one derogatory comment about a customer without getting fire, so why are these reporters allowed to gang on one person and torture him for a decade without being terminated? #RyanPhillippe 2 of 6

We have failed to find consistent genetic patters for schizophrenia—or for any other psychiatric illness. Some of my colleagues have also worked hard to discover genetic factors that predispose people to develop traumatic stress. Nonetheless, recent research has swept away the simple idea that having a particular gene produces a particular result. Many genes work together to influence a single outcome in a person. Even more important, genes are not fixed; life events can trigger biochemical messages that turn the, on or off by attaching methyl groups, a cluster of carbon and hydrogen atoms, to the outside of the gene (a process called methylation), making it more or less sensitive to messages of the body. While life events can change the behavior of the gene, they do not alter its fundamental structure. Methylation patterns, however, can be passed on to offspring—a phenomenon known as epigenetics. So this is why the children of Veterans are sometimes born with limitations, it is not their fault, but what their parent had been exposed to in the war. We are just beginning to learn that stressful experiences affect gene expression in humans. Children whose pregnant mothers had been trapped in unheated houses in a prolonged ice storm in Quebec had major epigenetic changes compared with the children of others whose heat had been restores within a day. When comparing the epigenetic profiles of hundreds of children born into the extreme ends of social privilege in the United Kingdom and measured the effects of child abuse on both groups, differences in social class were associated with distinctly different epigenetic profiles, but abused children in both groups had in common specific modifications in seventy-three genes.
