We can anticipate calamities of the emerging, accelerating World information systems—sabotage—much like the one Center’s for Disease Control is investigating about how it is likely that Chipotle was the victim of corporate sabotage by the biotech industry, which targeted Chipotle with tainted food with Escherichia coli because of its non-Genetically Modified Organisms, financial crashes like those in Greece, cultural pillaging of diamonds in Sierra Leone, [false] news stories about celebrity engagements to break up their real relationship and possible drive their actual spouses to suicide, entertaining dictators like Mayor Kevin Johnson of Sacramento, California who forced taxpayers to fund part of a new sports colosseum, putting them in debt by $255.5 million (total cost $507 million), without being allowed to vote for it when the city is already $2.5 million in debt. #RyanPhillippe 1 of 5

We must pray that such information disasters occur early and often, so that caution is built into us and into the system. People are so desperate to build careers and to be the first to break the news that they do not even verify if it is true or make sure who it is really about. They are willing to hurt others in order to gain fame, notoriety, and status. The news should not be a popularity contest. The job of a journalist is not to convince people a story is true, even if it is not, your job is to present credible facts. However, it seems not that if you can blast a story to as many news outlets as possible, many will believe it is true without fact checking because other “credible” outlets are reporting the same story. You know the old story, “If everyone is saying it, it must be true.” Well, that is certainly not the case, and this is what is known as a misuse of authority. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 5

Testimony of experts and authorities is useful, as supporting material for claims because expects draw on larger data and knowledge base, than nonexperts. However, experts are not always correct (journalist and gossip columnist being a notable example), but they are usually more reliable than someone who is uninformed or only marginally knowledgeable, especially about a highly technical subject. Misuse of authority occurs when one uses an incomplete citation or insiders as a source and the reference to the authority is neither specific nor complete. Minimum requirements for a complete citation include qualification of authority if not obvious, place of publication, and date of reference. However, many people intentionally use biased sources, even when they know they are not credible, because they stand to gain something. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 5

Expediency is the dangerous White Squall by which so many of us have wrecked our Albatross. I have always observed that when people are interrupted in the performance of some egregious stupidity their feelings are hurt. Biased source (insiders) are special interest groups or individuals who stand to gain money, prestige, power, or influence simply by taking a certain position on an issues or crusaders for a cause are all biased even though they may have expertise. And sometimes there is a mistake in causation. Correlation mistaken for causation (post hoc ergo propter hoc)—when two phenomena vary simultaneously or one follows the other, a causal linkage is asserted based solely on the covariation of the two phenomena. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 5

For example, 27 January 1988, a test message was sent out from the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna to weather centers in 25 countries. The message was partially coded and was transmitted on the World Meteorological Association’s global telex and communications network. Clearly marked as a test, it referred to a buildup of radiation over the Soviet Bloc. A few days later, the stock markets in Tokyo and Hong Kong shuttered amid sudden rumors of another Chernobyl (nuclear disaster). In a matter of hours, the fallout spread to the markets in the Middle East, Europe, and finally Wall Street. By that time, and early warning monitoring station in Sweden has been put on full alert. Arrogance will produce submission and caution against sin, even to the innocent, can never be unwholesome. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 5
