Getting ahead in industry is an adventure—and there are not many people today who like adventure. The supervisor who gets ahead mist have a basic materialistic selfish interest in a better life and he must believe he will reach his goal if he tries hard enough. During the periods when people have to rely on themselves—in frontier settings—a strong sense of individualism was not only an asset, it was a necessity for survival. Each of us still is required to grow and develop a strong sense of himself as an individual. I feel like if I do not wake up and write in the morning, my day will horrible. When I am writing, it gives me the feeling that I am reprograming my life. Life, lately, has felt like that movie Ground Hogs Day, where every day is the same day repeated and the character eventually catches on and tries to change it. I feel that every day is another chance to get my life right, and that one day everything I desire will be with me. Like many, I am tempted to try drugs to create a sense of happiness or euphoria, but I want to be as natural as possible. People have physical and emotional needs that must be expressed and satisfied. #RyanPhillippe 2 of 10

I want to actually make my life better, and hopefully share things that will elevate people are me as well. I am a good person and I want to be honored for my accomplishments, not demonized by people who are jealous of me, because although they may have more awards and a better career, they are not as hot, so to speak, so they do their best to suppress me to keep me from advancing in my life.  When the lifestyle of a social group becomes obsolete, when work turns into a boring routine and community responsibilities lose their meaning, it is likely that leisure will become increasingly more important. #RyanPhillippe 3 of 10

Having a good conversation, gardening, reading poetry, volunteering in a hospital, or learning something new and exciting are things that keep many people happy. I know that when I sit idle, I think about all the bad things that have been done to me and want to hide under a blanket. Just as the excellence of an individual life depends to a large extend on how free time is used, so the quality of a society hinges on what its members do in their leisure time. Suburban communities can be so mundane because one has reason to believe that behind the impressive facades rising from the emerald green lawns that nobody is doing anything interesting. #RyanPhillippe 4 of 10

There are entire countries where one gets the impression from talking even with member of the societal elite that besides money, family, fashion, vacations, and the exchange of sleazy gossip that there is not much that engages their attention. People seem fearful to dive into the caverns of the mind and speak about ideas like Heaven, time travel, or new scientific ideas. However, there are still some areas in the World where one finds retired professionals enchanted with classical poetry, who collect ancient volumes in their library, or farmers who play musical instruments or write down the stories of their village, preserving the best creations of their ancestors while adding to them. #RyanPhillippe 5 of 10

When society becomes too dependent on entertainment, it is likely that there will be less psychic energy left to cope creatively with the technological and economic challenges that will inevitably arise. However, creative people are not trenched into a frozen moment in time. Sometimes I feel like I am stuck on the moon alone, and have to find a way to connect with others. I am using the best knowledge from the past and the present to discover a better way of persevering into the future. A fully human person knows he is responsible for his own existence. And thankfully, the World is full of interesting things to do. Only the lack of imagination, or lack of energy stand in the way. Otherwise, each of us could be a poet or musician, engineer, inventor or explorer, a scholar, scientist, artist, or collector. Prove there is something wrong with your critics by doing amazing things, while they try to tear you down. Now that we are here, what shall we do about it? Some individuals are more gifted at life than others. He takes full responsibility for his actions, and does not demand perfection, but tries to fulfill his own potential. #RyanPhillippe 7 of 10

When thinking about what causes the best and the worst moods in life, chances are one would think of other people. A lovers or spouse can make you feel wonderfully elated, but also irritated and depressed; child(ren) can be a blessing or a pain, a word from the boss can make or break a day. Of all the things we normally do, interaction with others is the least predictable. At one moment it is flow, the next apathy, anxiety, relaxation, or boredom. Because of the power that interactions have on the mind, clinicians have developed forms of psychotherapy that depend on maximizing pleasant encounters with others. #RyanPhillippe 8 of 10

No one wants to constantly hear sad stories, dramas, nor hear you gossip about someone else’s sex life. Spend more time reflecting on yourself because chances are you are not as well liked as you think because you are constantly putting other people down and making those around you miserable. There is no doubt that well-being is deeply attuned to relationships, and that consciousness resonates to the feedback we receive from other people. Americans have created a society in which they are automatically nobodies, since no one has any stable place or enduring connection. The village idiot or the tramp who dances with stars of earlier times was less of a nobody in this since than the mobile junior executive or academic. An American has to make a place for himself because he does not have one. If there were in the World today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desires the unhappiness of others, we could have a paradise in a few years.
