There is a terrible coercion in our deeds, which may first turn the honest man into a deceiver and then reconcile him to the change, for this reason–that the second wrong presents itself to him in the guise of the only practicable right. Many people are driven by the need to achieve something. Achievement makes people feel rewarded. Like the emotions that one feels when one buys a house, gets a new job or has a baby. Those are major accomplishments and they make a person feel like their life has value. These emotions or feelings are also known as “The need for Achievement.”
The need for Achievement is a desire to meet some internalized standards of excellence, according to Dennis Coon. These types of people are driven to succeed. They will stop at nothing to reach their goals, and are often very good at whatever it is they put their minds to. One way to distinguish people who are out for power and people who are out for wealth, those who are out for power will often work very hard and become experts in their field, but they may not be compensated. Their goal is simply to get your attention and try to make your life better. If it leads to a successful career and wealthy, than great, but if not, they are okay by that.
People who are driven by wealth usually have a selfish desire, they are more than likely to only take opportunities that pay high and come with prestige, and may not be willing to start off in a low skill job. Of course both types are not willing to take jobs that will insult their skill level. The need for power is something different. People who have a need for power “want to have impact or control over others,” reports Dennis Coons. People with a need for people like to show boat. They drive expensive cars with big rims, spend a lot of money on clothes and parties and exploit relationships. Some say that the need for power and wealth draws darkness toward them; they are generally stressed out and unhappy. Scientist report people who have a desire for power and wealth are prime targets. There is bound to be a certain percentage of scoundrels and men too weak to resist a bribe in a great and shifting body like the House of Representatives.
For example, if you had the chance to date a common person or a celebrity, which would you choose? The common person, people see them every day, they have been well-introduced in the social scene and are highly accessible, usually are working class or poor. Celebrities, are rarely actually seen. People often question if they are alive. You never get first-hand information from a celebrity; they usually have status and or money. More people are likely to target the celebrity because they are more of a resource, you can get more from them. So that is why darkness is drawn to people who have a need for power and wealth. With these qualities, although, they are good qualities, the darkness is drawn to the light. They are high risk takers and with high risk, come high cost. If you just went around begging and acting crazy, people would feel sorry for you and give you things, not take from you and put you down. People who do not want more from life are not desirable by negative energy or anything else because they have no purpose, no intrinsic value. People with no motivation only need air, food, water, sleep and sex.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reports, “They are like adult children and we want nothing to do with them.” People with no motivation in life commit crimes and no one cares, they often do not even get arrested, but let a successful person look like they are doing something wrong, and they get harassed. “We want those ones who look like they are doing something,” Says the DEA. However, the key to success is self-actualization. You know what you want and will stop at nothing.
Until there is a certain level of success, and wealth, people at the top of the pyramid will have little interest in interpersonal relationship, unless they are beneficial. When they get what they want, they will be happy. To you these people may shine so bright, but to them, they still have more work to do until they reach their ideal peak. There are five levels in the pyramid. The bottom is basic needs, second level is a need for protection, third level wants to be loved and accepted. People at the fourth level have a need to be respected and respect themselves, but want more. On the fifth level is where you have all you need and desire. “We must be alarmingly enterprising, and we must be startlingly original, and do new and striking things which constitute a revolution.” -William Randolph Hearst
