Pride is in some Instances a Virtue

Open your heart to the influence of the light which from time to time breaks in upon you. Pride—where there is a real superiority of mind—will be always under good regulation. No one is paid to sit around being capable of achievement—what you so should always be more important than what you should be able to do, and I have to remind myself of this all the time, but I will get into that later. Meanwhile, most of the successful individuals have had someone who believes in them and supports them.

These support groups can be friends, family, coworkers, teachers, police, reporters, firefighters, just about anyone who wants to place a high value on learning, and wants to encourage you to do the same. People who possess intellectual determination have a known desire to excel and persevere. Therefore, such findings tells us that children, born with special needs, tend to be more motivated to learn and persistent.

Nonetheless, once a woman becomes pregnant, her own health habits and care play an important part in the development of a healthy fetus. It is important to go to the doctor the moment you discover you are pregnant and take prenatal vitamins. However, no matter how hard you try, sometimes you are blessed with children who have special needs, and that does not make them bad or mean that if you detect a birth defect, then you should abort your child. I used to think it was a good idea and later on, you will find out why.

We cannot hope to move those with delight or terror, whose interests and values and opinions are neither known or do we understand. In America, about 150,000 babies, each year are born with special a needs, which is about 3 percent of all births in America. These children are also beautiful and perfect in their own way. I used to think that it was selfish for anyone to knowingly give life to a child, when they know the child is going to come out defective, but that is not true. We live in a World where prefect looking people are bullied for being too pretty, too handsome, too thin, too rich, too poor, or for being ugly, so how would a children with a birth defect fair, if perfect children are not even accepted?

Not only that, but many children with birth defects do truly have special needs. Often times, their bodies and/or minds programs do not function they ways a normal child’s will. Sometimes that is a benefit or a disadvantage. However, we live in a World where there is a lot of crime; there is a crime, in America every 2.5 seconds. There is a violent crime every 22 seconds, property crime every 3 seconds, one murder every 32.9 minutes, a forcible rape every 5.8 minutes, one robbery every 1.2 minutes, one aggravated assault every 34.8 seconds, one burglary every 14.9 seconds, one larceny-theft every 4.5 seconds, and one motor vehicle theft every 25.7 seconds. With those statistics, I figure, why bring someone into the World, with a known disadvantage, to deal with that and have to compete with perfectly functioning human beings?

An uninformed individual is a true monster. Well, today, as I was Midtown, I met this beautiful little boy, with platinum blonde hair and blue eyes, and he was with his father and just so happy to be out at night, and was staring, at the lights, and smiling, with the look of amazement and wonder, in his eyes. The child, however, was born with special needs, but he may grow up to function just as well, if not better than other children because you can tell he is a good person, he is bright and smart, and just wonderful and that little soul deserves a chance to flourish and grow and help change the World. He does not even know he has special needs, and it is possible that no one else knows either.

With those special needs, he may spend time focusing on a way to make the World better, but not only that, he will probably teach others not to be judgmental, and love others for who they are. Ludwig von Beethoven (1770-1827) was a great German music composer, and he was deaf and also intellectually restricted, but somehow managed to use his special needs to make the World more beautiful for himself and others.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was one of the most famous artist in the World. He was an Italian painter, sculptor, writer, scientist, engineer, musician and architect, and generally known as a renaissance genius. Nonetheless, Leonardo da Vinci’s special need was Strephosymbolis, which means that he was unable to process symbols accurately, but he went down in history for his art work.

And finally, Wilma Glodean Rudolph (1940-1994) was an American athlete and an Olympic champion. Wilma Rudolph was considered the fastest woman, in the World, in the 1960s, and competed in two Olympic Games, in 1956 and in 1960. Yet, Wilma Rudolph had Poliomyelitis, which is a viral disease that can affect nerves and can lead to partial or full paralysis. Therefore, just because your child has special needs, does not mean that they cannot achieve great things.Children with special needs can and will do wonderful things in life.

Sometimes a child with special needs will become a greater person than a perfect child because instead of focusing on the external, many times these children with special needs know they have some obstacles and will spend their time focusing on honest ways to overcomes things in their pathways.

While other children are out bullying and acting like hooligans, children with special needs will spend their time trying to enhance their abilities. So instead of trying to make themselves look better by bring others down, they find ways to become irreplaceable and will steal your heart with how they persevere and succeed, but do not seem to hold a grudge. In fact, you will never find out some people have special needs until you get to know them very, very well, and they open up to you—pride, in some instances a virtue.
