Even justice makes it victims. There is a war going on in America, and the police are the army here to fight it. With the brutal slaying of Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Missouri, by a police officer and other African American men like Eric Garner (age 43) of Staten Island, New York, on 17 July 2014, for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes, John Crawford (age22) of Beavercreek, Ohio was shot and killed by police on 5 August 2014. And Ezell Ford (age 25), of Los Angeles, California on 11 August 2014 after the police stopped him to do an investigative search, and Dante Parker (age 36), of Victorville, California was shot and killed by police on 12 August 2014 because he was found by a bike that was suspected of being stolen, had no criminal record and the police teased him, several times, until he stopped breathing; many are wondering are European American men also seemingly hunted and killed by the police? Well, apparently, there is no national data base, which keeps track of the police shootings and demographics, but it is estimated that police kill about 500 to 1,000 people each year.
Since 11 September 2014, United States police officers have killed over 5,000 citizens. Here are a few cases of European American men killed by police. In 2008, Joseph Jennings (age 18) was shot 16 times and killed by police because he was armed with a gun and had been reported twice. When police made contact with the suspect, he was located in a parking lot, where they executed him. Police report that Joseph Jennings wanted to commit suicide by cop. In another story, Dillon Taylor (age 20) was shot and killed by a man being describes as a “Not white” cop. On 11 August 2014, it was reported that a man was waving a gun around, in the parking lot of a convenience store. When officers arrived, three men were leaving the store and Dillon Taylor fit the description of the suspect, witness report that Dillon Taylor was wear head phones and was shot as he was pulling his pants up. It was later uncovered that Dillon Taylor had a $25,000 bench warrant for a probation violation in connection with felony robbery and obstructing justice convictions.
Christopher Roupe (age 17), another white male, was shot by a Euharlee police officer in Bartow County, Georgia, on 14 February 2014. The police report that Christopher Roupe answered, while they were going to execute a probation violation warrant against his father, police report that Christopher Roupe pointed a gun, at the female officer, and she then shot him in the chest, killing him. The lawyer for Christopher Roupe report that he actually answered the door with a video game joy stick, not a gun. James Whitehead (age 29) was shot and killed by an off duty police officer, in Organe, Texas, 26 July 2013. The officer was African American, and was in a store with James Whitehead, as James was trying to return an item. James Whitehead became in raged and an altercation ensued between the cashier and James Whitehead. Off-duty Police Captain, Robert Arnold, intervened and the altercation ended up outside, James Whitehead was later shot and killed. So white men are shot and killed by police, too.
However, the problem is that one black man is killed every 28 hours by police or vigilantes. The reason there is so much outrage over black homicide by police is because it happens so often and also because of the history of this country. Most Africans were brought to America as slaves. 100 million Africans were stolen from Africa and redistributed around the World. Nonetheless, only about 10 million survived. This outrage over Mike Brown is not just directed at the police, it is directed at all of America because of how they discriminated against, and disrespect black men. People treat black men like they are worthless, invincible and look at them all as criminals. The only way to cure racism is to discuss it. Nonetheless, it is also important to look at why police are so defensive. In 2012, 48 police officers were feloniously killed, another 47 law enforcement officers died, as the result of accidents that occurred, in the line of duty. Law enforcement agencies also reported that 52,901 officers were assaulted while performing their duties in 2012. In 2012, 1 officer with the U.S. Department of the Interior was killed in the line of duty.
In addition, 1,857 federal law enforcement officers were assaulted. Of these officers, 206 were injured. Therefore, that is why police are so defensive when it comes to aggressive suspects. Therefore, if you have an encounter with the police, please at like they are your grandmother, be polite, listen to them, follow directs, and show them as much respect as you can to avoid any conflict. Some people are angry and aggressive and so are some suspects. Do whatever you can to save your life because having a bad attitude or moving suddenly could lead to your death. Police are human, too and they can and do make mistakes. Also, never play with guns or replica guns. Offended justice is diligent in detecting the breakers of her law. There is no such thing as moral responsibility for past acts, no such thing as real justice in punishing them, for the reason that human beings are not stationary existences, but charging, growing, and increasantly progressive organisms, which in no two moments are the same. Therefore, justice, whose only possible mode of proceeding is to punish in present time for what is done in past time, must always punish a person more or less similar to, but never identical with, the one who committed the offense, and therein must be no justice.
